Emotions are not superior to logic and reason

#1: We share emotions with many creatures, however our level of intelligence surpasses that of every other creature on Earth that we're aware of. Ergo, what makes us human is actually our intelligence. Fact. Unless dogs and cats are now humans, too, at which point the term has lost all meaning, and we'll need to find something else to call ourselves.

Not to split hairs. But with intelligence comes a more complex kind of emotion and the very understanding of emotion to begin. So strictly speaking, the way we perceive and deal with emotion is more or less unique to us. It is PART of what makes us human. But then again, it is is based on our intelligence as well. So. Our intelligence is what makes us stand truly apart from the rest, but it brings with it the more complex emotional spectrum that can only be described as human.

For the record; I share a lot of your frustrations as well.
