Elves are the natives of the world having been a part since the dawn of time. For centuries they reigned in the First Era alone as masters of Natural Magic that comes from the World Tree. Due to their affinity for magic, their life spans are extended for hundreds, and even thousands of years should their lives pan out naturally. The only land where they are not present is within Estwynd where legend speaks of a darkness that wiped the native elves from its expanse before humans took its place.

It is also from elves which Shadow Magic is responsible, for the first murder was acted by one that unlocked the ability to tap within the darker forces beyond nature.

The Naveri are rumored to be the eldest race in existence having blossomed from the buds of the World Tree's blossoms at the dawn of the First Era. They hail to the lands of Eversyth, known for their bio-luminescent forests and their capital city of Syth. They are a matriarchal society, their leader being the Elder Lannya, who is rumored to be thousands of years old.

  • Common eye colors: brown, gold
  • Common hair colors: dark to light blue
  • Primary trade: Sythian Silk, made through a unique process involving a combination of magic spells cast from the spinning of the thread to the weaving of the fabric. Many have tried to replicate the process, but none succeed. Sythian Silk is a soft, versitile fabric that does not tear easily.

||CULTURE||

Naveri are a prideful people, often so much so that they will not partake in anything that would make them look incompetent. Their neighbors, the Sur, have learned to deal with these elves hesitantly. They live lavish lives in arguably the most beautiful architectural structures in the Northlyn Continent comprised of elements that allow for a mass to float and hover above land. Sythian Silk is a staple fabric that comprises most of their robes, layered in colors of blues, purples, and reds and lined with gold and silver embroidery.

Their leader, Elder Lannya, has ruled for as long as any living person can remember. It is said that even she jests about not knowing her own age. She prefers to rule alongside a council chosen by her people providing this society with a unique perspective in handling affairs.

Men, women, and nonbinary all serve in her army and are treated more equally. They hold the largest elven army in the Allied Kingdoms and are known for their protective innovations by way of runic wards inlaid within their armor as magical protection. They had no contenders for land for hundreds of years until the humans migrated and formed Thallas.

||APPEARANCE||

Naveri are known for their monolid eyes, sharply pointed eyebrows, and uniquely blue hair. Their eyes are typically in the range between deep brown and bright gold, though there have been some known to carry a more tarnished silver hue. Their pointed ears are long, narrow, and shaped near perfectly in a triangular fashion extending to lengths of up to four inches from base to tip.

Sur are the woodland elves of Valnahar that spans from the border of Faledren up to the border of the Orcish Lands. They were considered primitive due to their way of life and respect for all forms of life, so much so that they refuse to destroy, and build their structures around trees made from natural scrap materials. They are the watchers of the Woodlands that are in direct connection with the World Tree.

They have been led by many over the centuries. The first recorded was King Gylath N'myr who reigned for three thousand years, for he was well known for saving the forest single handedly from a forest fire. In the centuries towards the end of the First Era, the Sur were led by King Helryn N'myr and then Asal N'myr.

  • Common eye colors: brown, green, hazel, grey
  • Common hair colors: brown, blonde
  • Primary trade: Enchanted leather and animal pelts. The Sur are known for offering the strongest and warmest leather and pelts, and are in high demand in the Northern regions.

||CULTURE||

The Sur are passivists, their society having only hunters being the closest to a warrior or a soldier. The orcs never desired to expand beyond Sol'davur, and the humans desired land either rich in available soil or filled with lesser threats. Thus, the Sur were able to continue thriving in seclusion within their Woodlands. They felt they had to protect it, though for centuries they could not figure out why. All they knew was that the trees were connected to magic in a deeper way than others. It was not until close to the end of the First Era that they realized the Woodlands of Valnahar were directly connected to the World Tree.

They believe in using every part of an animal they hunt. Pelts of many types of creatures are enchanted and worn both practically and fashionably. They are known to wear more leather, and their tanners are among the best in the world.

As they seek to preserve the world around them, their villages and homes are built from found materials around existing life. Many of the homes are suspended within the tree branches. Due to there being so much flammable materials, they worked closely with the Vuaturi elves to come up with a solution for colder seasons. Everfire is an enchanted crystal that gives off the heat akin to a fire, but does not scorch or burn, even to the touch. All it requires is a Fire Caster to regularly recharge the spell, providing much needed work for those attuned to Fire Magic.

The Sur work in a barter system and have no coin.

||Appearance||

The Sur wear leathers and cloth of earthen hues, their forms often adorned with the bulk of furs and pelts in the colder Seasons. Their hair ranges from browns to blondes, often quite thick. Their ears carry a slight upward curve towards the tip with lengths up to four inches from base to tip. They are more rustic and their physique tends to carry more lean muscle from their work and climbing. Men are known to grow beards and women are known to shave the sides of their heads.

The Vuaturi began as the nomadic elves of the Northlyn Continent, tending to keep to themselves outside of trade and business. They did not frequent the North as much for the orcs cared little of trade with their people. When the humans migrated through the Allied Kingdoms, the Vuaturi remained within the small span providing trade exclusively to the inhabitants. Despite their business preference, they remain vehemently neutral in all affairs.

Since the wars between magic and non magic, the Vuaturi were forced to relinquish their nomadic constructs of the skies, for the orcs would shoot them down with ease. They now have established a small settlement just outside Syth, keeping to themselves as they always had done.

These elves are known physically for their dark skin with contrasting, elaborate tattoos that glow when conjuring their magic. These magical tattoos are given to them once they hit adulthood, and it is considered a cultural rites of passage. Vuaturi are revered and sought after by most for their technological devices that combine magic with machinery, bringing advancements and a better way of living for everyone. They do not make weapons, and find it disrespectful to request it. Their devices and creations are only used throughout Eversyth, for anything magic is forbidden in the human and orcish lands.

  • Common eye colors: grey, blue, white
  • Common hair colors: white, grey
  • Primary trade: As they travel, they offer to ward cities, homes, and provide magical technology in trade for food, water, and safe passage. Their wards are renown throughout the world to shield against a number of magical and human attacks, prevent damage against water or fire, and keep homes cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Their magical technology is hesitantly sought after. They make no weapons, and create only things that can help protect or serve as a utility.

||CULTURE||

Vuaturi are a very private people, so much so that they are only ever personable with their own kind. They are not a religious society, and instead pour most of their time and energy into expanding their knowledge and crafting magical machines. They are arguably the most intelligent race in the Allied Kingdoms, but they will never construct machines that do not require magic to function. They have been hired for projects for both magic and non magic societies, and are most notably known for their flying constructs to which they flew for centuries.

Growing up as a Vuaturi meant growing up in the family construct, at least for most of the First Era. This flying vehicle was comprised of metals and enchanted fabrics woven from spider's silk that allowed for a translucent yet malliable window. Crystals embued with Earth Magic would keep the constructs afloat above the tree line and would allow them to move within the air. Constructs were multileveled and could hold up to twenty people at a time. After a male Vuaturi came of age and receive his first tattoos, he would be allowed to marry. If the marriage was approved, the couple would be tasked with building their first construct. If they succeeded, they were to marry. But if their construct failed, their union would no longer be allowed as they took it as a sign of dysfunction.

Vuaturi only married within their own kind, and it was quite rare for anyone to engage in relations with outsiders. They value professionalism and would feel personal endeavors, even friendships, would negate their purpose.

When they were grounded after the orcs joined with the humans in their paranoia against magical people, Vuaturi were forced to settle within Eversyth. Their numbers never exceeded much past a few hundred as they never were that interested in sex. Once they were banished with the other elves, they cut off business with the humans, which eventually rendered all of their commissioned machinery useless.

All Vuaturi machines require annual recharges and maintenance as the magic eventually runs out.

||APPEARANCE||

Vuaturi are very scholarly in appearance wearing elegant, yet practical looking robes in plain solids. Their skin is shades of tan etched with their magical tattoos. When not casting magic, their tattoos appear a few shades darker than their skin tone and shimmer with their magical essence. But when casting, their tattoos glow bright white. Their eye color and hair color ranges from near white to a silvery grey, though some have been known to show hints of blue. Their ears are a bit wider than other elves and have a max length of three and a half inches from base to tip.

The Zhoad are the elves of the desert lands within the upper Southlyn Continent. They are neighbors to the Maldviri, and have peaceful relations while presiding within Maldvir. The Desert of Hazshasbul divides the two societies, and both have roughly the same population. Their society lives in tribes, often comprised of families, and have no overall ruler.

  • Common eye colors: jeweled tones of gold, red, purple, and cyan
  • Common hair colors: brown, black
  • Primary trade: jewelry, gemstones, and spice

||CULTURE||

Due to being locked within terrain half dominated by sand, the Zhoads keep their societies within the grasslands. Their sources of water come from irrigation systems spanning from the fresh waters near Sus as well as tapped underground reservoirs. The coastal tribes are comprised mostly of fishermen and trade by boat with those in Sus and Bas.

Internal wars amongst tribes have been a conflict for centuries that stems from a tribe long ago having fallen to Shadow. Since then, it has been believed that the Zhoads were cursed to fight against each other until the End of Days. It has only been through the Maldviri that they have been able to resolve further conflicts, though grudges are still held that are often quite petty.

Women are the warriors and protectors of the society so that men can work uninhibited. They are known for wielding enchanted blades with runic designs that channel their magical attunement with their martial skills. While some men do partake in the way of the warrior, it is considered lazy on the part of the man, for it is believed he should be working instead, and that the financial and societal burdens should fall on his shoulders.

Due to their closeness with Maldviri, there are some practitioners of Inner Light, though still quite few in number. Those who do convert often pilgrimage across the desert to study among the masters.

||APPREARANCE||

Their skin tone ranges from brown to tan with a golden sheen. It is fashionable to paint their faces in colors of reds, cyans, and golds to accentuate their striking eye colors. Jewelry and metals are common even among the common folk as excessive ornamentation. The dyes of their fabric are often just as vibrant. Their ears are thin and narrow and can reach a maximum length of four inches from base to tip.

While technically not full blooded elves, the Dvadri are descendants of the half-elves produced from the Maldviri procreating with the Zhoad. They are scattered throughout the Southlyn Continent, mainly in the central areas. They adapted more of a lifestyle similar to their Maldviri heritage, but are not as religious in their practices of Inner Light. They still carry with them their original magical attunement making them both unique and powerful.

  • Common eye colors: black, brown, gold, blue
  • Common hair colors: black, brown
  • Primary trade: textiles, tobacco, lumber, pelts, leathers

||CULTURE||

The Dvadri are a very reclusive group of people. Since they are scattered throughout central Southlyn, their people are separated into clans. They are considered part of Maldvir, though they have clans that extend into Ghildi and Bas. Their trade is mostly conducted with whichever society their clans live closest to.

The jungle lands of Central Southlyn are technically their territory, though none will officially state it as such. The clans that exist there have thrived for centuries, and it is believed they are the only ones able to accomplish their survival in such harsh territory is because of their ability to master both Inner Light and Natural Magics. These jungles are filled with some of the most dangerous creatures, including jungle wyrms. They are favored by the fabled nymphs that are rumored to protect them.

Their leader is King Savadri II whose father united the clans through expanding trade routes and wealth.

||APPEARANCE||

Most Dvadri are rather dark in skin tone, their hair course and styled into dreads or braids. The iris of their eyes are slightly wider than most, giving their gaze an unsettling stare. Their ears are naturally shorter than most elves, but longer than half-elves, with the longest only reaching to about three inches to the tip.
