Elswen: Trapped Island

"Say what about the asylum..?" About the same time Gregory became aware of his attire, Andrea too seemed to noticed. Hospital pajamas, blood stains, guy looked totally nuts. It didn't take a rocket scientist to put two and two together.

Andrea was about to heft up her suitcase and start running when someone else came to the 'rescue'.

"What's that?" he asked, gesturing towards the oozy thing in the closing-in distance.

Come to think of it, it wasn't much of a rescue at all. But Andrea had full intentions of pawning the crazy-guy off on this new dude that at least looked like he could handle himself against a serial killer.

But then, almost as quick as a bolt of lighting, the oozeman's arm shot across the grass. It narrowly missed the three people standing there as it splotched all over Andrea's suitcase and retched it away from her. The thing smoked and sizzled as if the goo was eating away at it.

At this point Andrea didn't know if she wanted to scream about her stolen clothes, or scream because that acidic thing was now barreling towards them!

"..holy shi- RUN! RUNNING NOW!" She pushed Sam at the shoulder to point him towards the nearby alley, and snagged Gregory by an arm to drag him along. He might be a mental patient, but no one needed to get eaten by.... whateverthatis~!

SUMMARY: Oozedude steals Andrea's suitcase. D: She shoves Sam to get moving and drags Greg by an arm... towards the alley where Woogie is hiding?

The cat eaped at Gregory in panic and and he shielded his eyes not seeing the arms shooting out to grab his until it grabbed his and pulled him along. Yowling and hissing the cat shot off ahead as Gregory was pulled after Andrea. It was then that he was the other thing eating the suitcase behind them.

"Thats not a cat." he exclaimed as they ran The two cats ahead of them. "My brother will know what to do." the black and white cat panted at it dashed for the alley.

"Ugh." he said, it was starting to give him a headache, it every word washing over his mind as he was unable to ignore it.

"My bro..."

"Look!" he snapped trying to aim a kick at the cat as he ran "I don't know your brother so could you pleas shut up about him."

The was no longer on the ground but was sitting on Adrea's shoulder, ts face frozen at it stared at him.

Risako shuddered. She hadn't realized that it wasn't, in fact, raining but the sky and the woman's umbrella made her think that it was. The suggestions of hotels were nice. As Risako took a moment to decide what to do an explosion erupted in a street nearby and Risako had to fling her arms over her head to protect herself from a bit of debris.

"I think it isn't safe for us to stay here..." Risako said to the other woman, spotting a cab coming just up the road. Risako nearly flung herself out into the street to get it to stop. As she placed her bookbag in the seat she turned to look. "If you'd like to, um, share a cab...I'd be willing to go with you?" Risako asked, one leg in the car and her arm above her head to protect from any more debris that might fall from the sky at any moment.

The only thing that could really come to mind for Risako was that it was a strange day to have ended up on Elswen Island.

Woogie

Huddled against the dumpster, Woogie's body shook with waves of fear, and terror at all the noise, and the screaming that seemed to be getting steadily closer with every passing minute. A moment of bravery allowed him to peak his head around the corner of the dumpster, and what he saw made him shriek "EEEEEEEEEEEE!" Seeing three Meanies, and some strange ooze thing racing towards him, Woogie sprang to his feet, and began running in the opposite direction of them as fast as his over sized boots could carry him. The dull thumps of booted feet lingered in the air as he booked it for the other end of the ally, his little heart beating fiercely, as his panting breath burned inside his chest.

Reaching a door, the little guy frantically clawed at the door handle, but to no avail as it was firmly locked, or rusted shut... Kicking at it as best he could, he more or less bounced off the study metal, and then turning around to face the people approaching him at alarming speed the shade narrowed his eyes. Lifting his gloved hands, and fixing his glowing eyes on them, he began to chant, and move his arms in a strange fashion while speaking strange words in the squeaky voice of his "Shoka verdma... untanara zel kashni..."

Aiming for the Meanies in front of him, a bolt of dark energy soared from his finger tips, and flew between them striking the ground just behind them, but in front of the oozeman, and from it, a large brick wall rose up several feet into the air! Seeing that his aim had missed, and that the Meanies would reach him before he could prepare another spell, Woogie collapsed to the ground covering his head, and continued shaking skittishly as he knew they would get to him, and hurt him.

Priscilla, who usually liked to work while she traveled, was on this occasion not at all displeased with the idea of sharing a cab and quickly rushed to the other door. A part of her was amazed at the crazy action the other woman took to get the cab, but it worked and that's all that mattered.

"Sounds good to me," she said with a nod.

Once inside the cab took off. Actually they were lucky to have gotten the doors closed as the cabbie seemed to be speeding quite a bit.

"It's not a safe time to be out on the street," the cabbie said. Priscilla noted the French accent as she tried to get her seat belt on, and was a tad startled when she noted that cabbie was about the darkest man she'd ever met. She had half expected some dark haired white man with a beret.

"Can you take us to Simon and Nootsak?" she asked the driver.

"No, it's too dangerous in the down town. Better off following the water."

"Dangerous? This is Elswen how dan..."

"Dangerous for Elswen, that's how dangerous."

Priscilla looked over at the other girl and frowned. It felt like they were being kidnapped, and then she did a double take, was that ball lightning ahead of them? And was it really purple?

Andrea shot Greg a startled stare, as if the man was speaking crazy talk. (Though it shouldn't have come as a surprise, seeing as he looked like he came straight from a hospital!) But any responses she may of had were cut short in the light of an "EEEEEEEEEEEE!" in the alley. A child-sized figure went running terrified only to turn around scream out some fiddle-faddle and then BAM. Electricity throwing and wall of bricks flying up from the ground!

On the bright side, they were now sheltered in the ally from the oozing thing chasing them. The down side, they were trapped in the ally with something that was quivering on the ground like a frightened animal.

...and Andrea... she was so confused by the entire thing that she now had a hand resting on the top of her head in baffled bewilderment. Wondering if perhaps she had lost her last marble and was now prancing around in her very own Wonderland.

"Hooookay. No one panic... it's okay little, squealie... guy... Just shhh! All safe here! I think..?" she cast a hopeful look over to Sam. She didn't know the names of either of the guys, but at least HE looked a little less lost.

Everything happened so bloody fast!

The Ooze-Man whipped out it's tendril-arm at the trio. It's strike missed them just barely, instead snatching up the girl's bag. The arm sucked itself back into itself, a visual that reminded Sam of an elastic band. The suitcase was devoured into it's form entirely, and almost immediately the digestion began. At least, that's how Sam thought of it. It was sort of floating in it's semi-transparent torso where it began to quickly dissolve. The leather and metal buckling on the outside went first, then bits of clothes soon floated out in the somewhat-gelatinous man-shape.

Then the running! The girl shoved him and took off, and Sam followed in that half-panic that came along when people began to run around you. He threw a glance over his shoulder and realized the damn thing was chasing them and knew that, perhaps, it was time for running.

Sam immediately regretted this decision, being chased into a narrow alley. He'd of rather been in the open, where he could maneuver or fight or anything but flee into a corner! Then there was the child-shape, and that unmistakable sensation of Magic being used. The ozone smell filled the air immediately around him as the bolt of raw, elemental energy zipped past the trio. Sam turned to follow the blast, and saw a wall.

So that's what he was casting, he thought. He barely made out the incantation, but didn't understand the words.

"We're safe. I think." Sam said experimentally as he prodded the wall with the end of his cane. He rapped it a few times with the bronze pommel-shaped cap, the sound ringing a strange echo in the narrow alley. He then stepped back and poked at it.

"The name's Sam," he said, flashing a toothy smile at the young woman who seemed very much on the verge of panic. He strode confidently up to the huddled figure and tapped it a few times with his cane. "Hey, uh... Little Guy. Thanks for that brick wall of eldritch mastery. We should keep moving, though; if ooze-man wants us, I don't think that thing will hold out very long."

Risako was pleased that the other woman decided to join her in the cab. She wasn't particularly relishing the thought of wandering about Elswen by herself. The woman stepped around the cab and hopped in as well. As the cabbie stepped on the gas Risako was thrown back into her seat and it reminded her of when she had visited New York City.

The woman directed the cabby and he responded in some accent that she couldn't quite place. The two of them determined that Elswen was quite dangerous. Risako was too distracted by what she saw coming towards them. Lightning...PURPLE lightning. It seemed that the cabbie saw it too and the squealing of tires could be heard loudly in the cab as Risako was pitched to the side and slid against the door.

"Do not worry, you'll be okay." The cabbie assured them, yet Risako wasn't assured at all. She reached into her backpack and thumbed her personal book of shadows wondering if she could find a spell to make them get to their destination faster. As she reached down to grab it something caught her eye out of the back window. It was the purple lightning arcing its way back to hit the cab a second time. Risako's eyes widened.

"Um Miss...?" She looked to the other woman and gestured out the back window.

Cats and a small child-like thing. A Pile of fallen bricks and the smell of ozone. A slime creature outside and lightning blasting apart brick walls. Greg has seen enough. He sat staring at the cats but they were not looking at him, finally he began crawling on his belly away from the cats, a habit borne from being strait jacketed every time he was scared. "The cats." he gibbered somehow sure this was all their doing. Why else would they only show up again then everything started to go wrong. "Look at them all curled up on the side of the dumpster, watching. They know where we are, and how could they not they're right there. His crawl led him around the side of a dumpster, large amounts of filth now added to the blood on his clothes as he huddled in a corner swatting at the cat every time it poked it's head around the side of the dumpster.

"Whats your problem?" the cat sitting on his head asked making him jump and cry out and it's face looked down at him with large slit eyes. "You." he said throwing himself out of the corner and crawling to the opposite wall just in time to catch a little of the conversation. "You know theres a huge hole in the side of the building you could have escaped through." the cat said stretching out and falling to the ground sunning itself. "But no thunderchild and the girl had to get us all cornered and doomed."

Gregory pulls his legs closer to himself and further away from the offending feeling. "But thunderbutt may be our ticket out of here..." he cat said paw playfully following after Gregory's retreating toes. He just needs to do what he did again and we;re all out of this trap he so perfectly made for us.

Gregory looked to the others, they were talking and weren't listening to the cat. "Listen!" he called pointing at the empty patch of dirt he had just been staring at but the cat didn't repeat itself and only closed its eyes lazily. "The cat is right, listen. He need to blast another way out of here before globbo eats its way inside here."

Woogie

"Hooookay. No one panic... it's okay little, squealie... guy... Just shhh! All safe here! I think..?"

Falling onto his back as the man prodded him with the stick thingy, Woogie lifted his hands to shield his face and curled his legs in as well.

"Hey, uh... Little Guy. Thanks for that brick wall of eldritch mastery. We should keep moving, though; if ooze-man wants us, I don't think that thing will hold out very long."

Peeking between his opened fingers, the shade looked at Sam, then darted his gaze to the wall that was steadily being dissolved... then back to Andrea, and finally to Gregory.

"Listen! The cat is right, listen. He need to blast another way out of here before globbo eats its way inside here."

Woogie didn't see a cat, and hadn't for the last couple of days. The strange man was right though... if he didn't get away from them, and the monster he'd surely be done for! In a brilliant display of nimbleness, the shade rolled over to his feet, and ran straight for the door once more. Lifting his booted foot once more he shouted "Otenko!" before his foot was surrounded in the same dark energy, and kicked the barred door open. The hooded midget had cleared the threshold in seconds... jeez what the little bugger fast!

Continuing in a sprint, his foot caught one of his untied bootlaces, and Woogie fell face first into the cement floor. Sliding along a few feet on his face, his feet rolled up, and then fell backwards as his momentum finally gave out, and then he just laid there... his breath knocked from his little body, and his face numb from the impact.

(Sorry Mr. Cabbie, I wanted to give you a name. It just wasn't in the cards)

"Hm?" Priscilla turned to look at the other girl, then at what she was pointing at. She wanted to be sure the cab driver knew what he was doing, but when she saw the arch of purple lightning coming at them again.

"Swerve, swerve!" she yelled at the man, but it was already too late. The lightning hit the cab and it made a shrieking sound when it did. The cab veered to the left and hit the side of a building, throwing everyone forward for a moment.

The cab was still glowing purple on the outside, but Priscilla wasn't going to stay trapped in there. She fumbled for her seat belt then using all her weight on the door pushed it open. "We need to get out of here!" She offered her hand to the other woman and looked at the cabbie. He was slumped over the wheel.

"Sir! SIR!" There was no response.

"Shit, come on!" Priscilla all but dragged Risako out of the cab, trying to ignore the fact that her hair was sticking out on end and everything smelled of ozone and grape juice.

It was with great timing that the weird little man got the door open. For at that moment the spell holding up the brick wall couldn't combat against the acidic ooze of the blob beating against it.

Andrea sure wasn't going to stand around and wait for it to spot them again. She followed through the threshold at a quick run, nearly tripping over the clocked figure on the ground! Not thinking about whether or not he wanted the help, Andrea hefted him up off the ground and in to her arms. He was heavy, but thankfully no more than an older child!

Finding a safe room deep inside the building, Andrea finally set the guy down on top of an old desk. She leaned, peering at him with some confusion. But her mind was having a hard time filing away what he was with the concerns of being chased.

"Quick, we need something to block the door!" she turned around to shout at the others.

"SWERVE! SWERVE!" The woman shouted but Risako was too busy being frozen in place looking at the impeding doom chasing after them.

The cab was toast the minute the purple crackling lightning surged over the metal making the machine freak out and spin out of control smashing into a building. Risako was tossed forward and smashed her face on the back or the headrest before her and everything went white and fuzzy for a minute, her hand instantly tightened around her bag with all of her stuff in it.

Suddenly she felt herself being practically ripped from the wreckage of the cab by the other woman only having her vision clear in enough time to see the driver slumped over the seat. Tears began to well up in her eyes but she tried her best to wipe them away. She was so lost and confused and to top things off she had witnessed someone's last moments. She had been so focused on drying her tears that she hadn't even noticed the small trickle of blood coming out of her nose. When she finally regained enough sense, following after the woman as they ran, she poked her nose and nearly screamed bloody murder and the tears began flowing again. It certainly had to be broken but she couldn't risk healing herself in front of this random woman, and she certainly couldn't do it while they were running.

"I need do s'op for a second..." She skidded to a stop and stepped into an alleyway, if the woman saw she figured that'd be the least of their worries it seemed. Her hands went to her face and a golden light appeared underneath them, the sound of cracking bones could be heard and when she put her hands down it was healed, however it still looked a bit crooked, but that was something to worry about later.

"Okay, let's go." She nodded to the other woman, tossing the backpack over her shoulder and running along with her again.
