    Getsu City/Bishoujo City, Getsu

Getsu City, also known as Bishoujo city, is a large city on Getsu Island. It is one of the largest islands in the world. Being that it is in the North Pacific Ocean, the dominant culture on this island is Japanese, with a slight American influence in the fashion sense and food culture, and a higher population of foreigners than Japan. On first glance it looks like a calmer version of Tokyo and New York City, but it's much more spacious. It is also the home of the Elite Magical Girl Academy, which is hidden away on the outskirts of Getsu City.

The farther you go out from Getsu City, the more green you'll begin to see. There are plenty of farms, villages, and beautiful beaches once you leave Getsu City. Unfortunately, the countryside can be even more dangerous than the city, with Youma hiding in the surrounding forests and often attacking small villages freely. It is where ancient, rare Youma are said to hide.

    On Campus Locations
Note: Try not to have too many character's congregrating in the same area! :) These spots are mostly for character socialization, but may become key points in the rp at some point.

  • Posting Rules
    1. When posting, use your character's name as a header and their location.
    2. During battles, do not autohit NPCs. This includes Youma and Magical Girl.
    3. No metagaming or Godmodding, at all. If you have permission to do so from the Player, then this is fine.
    4. No collaborative posts, unless two characters are on a date , or something similar and there is no risk of another being around.
    5. If you are inactive without word for two weeks, then you will be dropped and your character will be taken control of by me. Posting IC means you agree to this rule.
    6. No sex scenes within the IC thread. And definitely no sex scenes with people not in your age range.
    7. Intermediate writing standards are expected in this rp, and I will accept no less than a paragraph(5-7 sentences) for IC posts.

    Combat Rules
    1. No Auto-hitting or taking control of a Youma. This is mainly for plot purposes. If you were to take control of one of the enemies this may be interrupt plots or ideas we have in mind. Also to keep the fights balanced and to make sure everyone gets their fair share of butt-kicking from the Youma. You are welcome to direct a hit at a Youma, but do not say the attack has landed, until the person controlling the Youma acknowledges it as fact. Youma Players reserve the right to say a Youma's attack has landed on a character, to kidnap players, or anything else that enemy characters may do. This is, again, for plot purposes. Rest assured we won't ever inflict fatal wounds on your character without your consent, and if we plan to
kidnap or do anything similar to your character we may inform you first depending.

    2. Be reasonable. If your character has already used a couple of attacks that require a decent amount of power or more advanced utility skills it will show. Their energy is not infinite. I'm going to give people freedom to pick their skills and attempt to dodge/evade/attack, but ultimately whether something affects the Youma is up to
the Youma player to keep things fun, fresh, and fair.

    3. The first time you use one of your character's spells, please provide a description of what it does in your post, or include it in a spoiler tag. This will make things easier on everyone, especially the Youma players.

To the Shrine!
Combat Awaits Her

Things were looking up! Though, really, Angela had zero sympathy for the plight of the youma. What sort of person goes on a revenge trip because of something that happened to someone else? And it wasn't even the fault of the youma's victims! The priestess' sister had been the one who'd made the fatal mistake. The priestess' sister had been the one to swim out too far and get swept away. There was absolutely no justification for enacting revenge on people who weren't even responsible for what happened, and it was this that motivated Angela to swiftly move past Kano and start walking north. "Keep an eye out for anything weird," she said, not looking back. "The demon probably isn't gonna wait until we get to what was once her shrine."

She'd deliberately chosen her words to degrade the memory of the priestess in her mind, and possibly in the minds of the others. Kano already didn't see the demon as a human anymore, but Samantha and Aki, she wasn't so sure about. Especially Aki. That girl hadn't done or said anything since they'd arrived at the village, so God only knew what was going through her head. "I'm going to be the bait, so the rest of you keep your distance," she said once they were out of earshot of the village. "If she's going to attack anyone, it's probably going to be me while I'm not transformed. Make sense?"

Samantha – Purple Team – Village on the mountain

Cordiculya had listened to the sad story of Lady Shiko in silence. She hadn't intended it to be that way: she had already prepared some words of condolences, or a speech to reassure that the people of this little village would be safe now that her group had arrived, but nothing came. The only thing she could focus on was the damning, overbearing fact that this Youma had been created from the death of the magical girl's sister.

Cordi-…Samantha turned her mind back, back to the estate she had left behind. All of her brothers and sisters, their cute faces marred by the tears in their eyes, waving sadly as her car carried her away. She thought of them all, each in turn, and her jaw tightened. Samuel, Maximilian, Benjamin, Caroline, Olivia…if something had happened to any one of them, would Samantha too fall into despair? Would grief consume her wholly, and leave behind a Youma where she had once stood?

As these questions ran circles in her mind, Samantha realized she couldn't summon any ill thought against Shiko. Not when the answer to those questions were so obvious…

She had followed the others back out onto the street, her mind still a few miles away, when Angela's voice roused her from her stupor.

"Keep an eye out for anything weird. The demon probably isn't gonna wait until we get to what was once her shrine."

There wasn't anything overtly insulting in her words (technically speaking, a Youma was indeed very much like a demon), but there was something in her tone that didn't sit well with Cordiculya. Surely one shouldn't talk with such an edge of flippantness about a only recently deceased soul, even if they had fallen into darkness. Cordiculya had half a mind to tell her to not run her mouth, but bit back the words. They needed to first focus on getting through this mission without a royal screw up; anything else could wait until later. Thankfully, Angela chose that moment to continue,

"I'm going to be the bait, so the rest of you keep your distance. If she's going to attack anyone, it's probably going to be me while I'm not transformed. Make sense?"

"I'm not so certain." Cordiculya folded her arms, turning up her nose ever so slightly. "It sounds to me like this particular Youma might be on a vendetta. Who is to say it will even want to attack just a random girl?"

Cordiculya wasn't entirely sure if she believed her own objection. While it had some sense behind it, Youma were also known to eat any human souls they could get, regardless of who that soul belonged to. It wasn't exactly out of the question that Angela's soul, even untransformed, would be too juicy a morsel to pass up. Cordiculya briefly wondered if she was just objecting for the sake of objecting. But even so…

"What say you two?" Cordiculya twisted around to face the final two of the group, her expression severe.

Kokuyo Kano - Mountain Village --> Mountain Temple
Kano listened to both of her other teammates speak. Both of them had good points. On one hand, having bait for the Youma would be very helpful, but Princess did bring up a good point. Why would Lady Shiko attack any random girl on the trail? If they didn't live in the village the Youma wouldn't hold them responsible for the untimely death of her sister. Still, having bait would be a good idea. And since Angela was offering herself up so eagerly, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. It would be best to catch the Youma by surprise anyway.

"Why not let Angela be the bait, Corky." Kano turned towards Cordiculya with a small smirk. "If she wants to put herself in harm's way we should let her. The rest of us can find a place within a safe distance to keep an eye on her. That would prove whether or not your theory is correct, Princess. If the Youma doesn't attack Angela, we can sneak away without alerting that we're magical girls."

The brunette looked to the north where the entrance to the mountain path could be seen from where they were standing. A worn, wooden arch marked the beginning of the path and Kano started to make her way through the small village towards it. As they walked, she strapped her holster to her hip and held the handle tightly. She was going to be ready for whatever this Youma was going to throw at them.

As she walked under the arc, she could feel the air change. There was a small curve in the path and as she turned the corner, she stopped. There was a body, bound to a large boulder with prayer beads and her body looked...drained. Skin was pale and her face was gaunt and thin. This must've been one of the victim's of the Youma.

"It looks like her prayer beads are her weapons." Kano frowned as she eyed the polished, wooden beads. "We're going to have to keep our distance when we attack."

Lady Winter couldn't believe what was standing, more like charging, in front of her. The screams that came from the puppets. Sending shivers down her spine like she had never felt before. Lady Winter was a girl of pure confidence and bravery, but something about the unknown and the creepy just turned her into a scared little girl. She would hate herself after today. How dumb could she be to follow some unknown girl to a basement; a basement! Of all places. It was ludicrous and the dumbest move she had ever made in her entire life.

As the puppets came running her way, on fire, Lady Winter knew she was in deep trouble. Fire and Ice definitely didn't mix well, and it looked like this time around she would be the one to get burned... literally. She was in shock and fear when the puppets started shooting fire from their mouths and the spirals of fire came her way, fast.

"If I die like this... I better have a Closed Casket Ceremony." Closing her eyes, knowing that this would be her end. She would go out in a blaze of glory, the only way someone like her should go out. Not backing down at all, she was NOT going to go out like a weakling; she would take it like a woman.

Instead of feeling her body being roasted alive, she didn't feel anything all. After a few minutes, Lady Winter opened her eyes to see a red like bubble shield in front of her. She knew it wasn't one of her spells. Her Ice Wall would have not stopped the fire, and the shield's color was blood red. She looked around and spotted Crimson Moon, La Voisin and Papyra finally coming down the stairs and entering the basement. She pretended to not be scared anymore; not wanting to let the other girls see her sweat. She gave a sigh of relief and got herself composed. She wouldn't vocally thank Crimson Moon; only giving the girl a nod as she turned to Papyra.

"Am I okay?" Faking a laugh. "I'm better than ok. I almost had her and those puppets right where I wanted them." Papyra would be able to see the fear behind Lady Winter's smile and false confidence, but Lady Winter would not admit it. "Yeah I found the Youma and now let's take it out before this entire place is toast." She smirked; starting to feel a little better about the situation she was in.

Maybe the other girls would be okay to have as friends. She was even starting to like the Toxic Stripper, La Voisin as well.

Lady Winter rolled her eyes at Brianna's words. "You little brat... you'll pay for tricking me. No one gets away with that." Balling up her fists and following behind Papyra with an attack of her own. She knew her spells, just like Papyra's, they wouldn't work on the fire puppets, but they should and hopefully would work on Brianna. The actual Youma; who needed a good beating. Using her Ice Fury Spell; hopefully being able to hit The Youma at least once, and maybe even multiple times.

Crimson Moon - Abandoned Hospital Basement

The redhead nodded in return to Lady Winter, leaving any further acknowledgement likewise unsaid. She quickly returned her focus to the Youma before them, to answer her in kind. "You could say that," she said to answer the question. As she extended her right arm, an elegant red and golden rapier began to form in her hand, pointing steadfastly at the smaller girl. "On my blood and honor, you're going down!" It was almost noble, but in the end, she was still the same person she always was, and just couldn't keep the grandiose language going for very long.

In cramped conditions like this, they were at a disadvantage, particularly with the sort of attacks their target could make with those marionettes. Crimson Moon didn't really have much time to consider tactics, as the next attack came soon on the heels of the first, part of it aimed right at her. Rather than continue spending energy on defenses, she attempted to avoid the blast of flame, leaping into the air to avoid the blast of flames and close some of the distance. The marionette, now wreathed in flames, was quick to follow and closing in fast. Unable to change direction in midair, Crimson Moon thrust her rapier at the puppet, hoping that she could at least force it to trade blows.

Crimson Moon creates a sword out of her own blood, which she can then use to attack like any other weapon. it's only a minor mastery, so while magical in nature, it won't do particularly impressive damage with a single strike.

Mint Team - The Silent Forest, Clearing

As the team of magical girls advanced on the lights, a cloying, sweet smell began to permeate the air. The source of the subtle perfume seemed to be further ahead, as if beckoning them to continue forth. The softly glowing lights bobbed in the shortening distance, and once they were closer, their shapes became distinct: each light was a large, glowing flower, swaying on the ends of delicate vines, as if stirred by a breeze the girls couldn't feel in the still air. Showers of glimmering pollen drifted down from each of these flower lanterns, lending a further ethereal quality to the clearing in which they grew.

At the center of the clearing, however, was something far less pleasant, if no less beautiful. A colossal plant towered over the area, festooned in additional glowing buds, and topped with a truly colossal blossom. The gigantic flower had a shape almost like the fanged maw of some sort of twisted animal, and was pointed right at the four girls. The plant-like beast cut through the unnatural silence with a roar that shook the very air.

A rumbling and snapping of branches continued, as many of the vine-like tentacles swung at the girls, in an attempt to simply smash or swat the magical girls out of the way. Octavia, who had brought up the rear, was caught off-guard by the first strike, and sent flying into the air, only to slam into a three across the clearing and fall limply to the ground, landing in a heap.

Mint Team-Mission 1-The Forest

"Well, crap. Looks like we need to do some weeding, girls!" The bad news was, this thing was indeed using some sort of magic to dampen its vibrations. The good news was that it was so slow, it didn't seem that it would matter.

The tendrils this Youma was sending out were the main danger. They could come from any angle, and seemed to be quite strong. Carmen's head quickly darted around to keep watch, and barely caught a tendril coming at her head. "Earth Shield!" A wall of granite rose up, intercepting the attack. The root crashed through it, but it had taken enough out of the attack that she would barely be bruised. "Red, I think we could do with some grilled veggies right now!"

On the Road . . . .
Bait

Angela was about ready to retort about her plan when they came across the corpse. That promptly shut her up for a solid 30 seconds. "This is why we hunt," she said softly, kneeling down to close the eyes. Once she'd collected herself again, she stood back up and started thinking. "First things first," she said. "Kano, Aki, do either of you have any long-or mid-range abilities? I know Sam does, but that's mostly because I helped her refine the way she uses them. Anyway, I figure Minuteman and Sam's knights can keep the Youma distracted while we whale on it from a distance. What do you think?"

Her thought process and her plan was clear, but whether the others would go along with it, that was unclear. Kano wasn't the most assertive, from what Angela had seen, but she at least voiced her opinion when she disagreed with something. Angela respected that. Sam could be a little airheaded at times, but she got things done. Aki, on the other hand, Angela didn't know a thing about. It frustrated her to have a wild card in her plans, and if she wasn't careful, it would show.

Samantha - Purple Team - Road to the temple

Cordiculya had been following behind the others, mumbling and complaining (both about Angela's tone and Kano's constant use of 'nicknames'), when they had started their ascent. She had felt the change in the air, even if she couldn't put a name to it. She wanted to blame it on thinner air pressure, but she couldn't fool herself: the heavy silence that surrounded them was not born of something so mundane. Cordiculya had glanced around skittishly, internal complaints ceasing about the same time she started to fidget her hands together. She snuck a glance at Kano, a little bit impressed about how unfazed the girl looked, when they had rounded the corner.

Glassy, sightless eyes stared right at her. Pale skin drawn tight over a face like the world's most macabre mask. Winds blew through the dead silence, gently caressing the matted and stringy hair of the completely still figure.

All at once, Cordiculya understood the withdrawn nature of the villagers.

The silence was broken first by Kano noting the cause of the woman's demise, then by Angela trying to form a plan of attack, and finally by Cordiculya running to the nearest bush and throwing up her lunch.

Her mother had been trained and prepared Samantha for this: it had been required to observe the often dire things a Youma was capable of. This included having to observe the effect Youma had on corpses. But there was a world of difference between looking at unnerving pictures in a book or on a screen to actually standing right in front of an actual dead body. There was something so dreadful about the whole thing; how what was once a living, breathing person was now so uncannily still. It didn't exactly help that this poor woman was tied up against a rock, her remains now little more than a flesh and blood scarecrow. A very effective scarecrow.

Shakily wiping her mouth with a silk handkerchief, Cordiculya turned back to the others, trying to swallow back the tremors that threatened to pass through her body. The whole thing was shameful; how could she claim to be any kind of leader when she flaked out before even seeing a Youma? Both Kano and Angela were already trying to think practically, while she was close to summoning a knight just so she would have something to hide behind.

"S-shouldn't we…I-I don't know, bury her? Or at least take her body back down to the village?"

There was a part of Cordiculya that knew she wasn't exactly thinking straight. It was more important that they deal with the looming threat of the Youma first, since there would be time for cleanup later. But her heart was thumping a mile a second. There was a base instinct in her that wanted to call this whole thing off and run back to the academy, but she at least had enough courage to refrain from suggesting that.

Kokuyo Kano - Mountain Path
"At this point," Kano folded her arms over her chest as she stared down at the corpse. She briefly heard Cordiculya ejecting anything she had in her stomach before continuing. Poor girl has never seen a soulless body before. "I can only offer close range attacks, but close range might do the trick. With long ranged attacks you have to be precise and usually most don't have the time or the skill to redirect their weapon with close combat opponents." Her mother's training wasn't all useless. The information that Kano received from studying with her mother on all different forms of weapons and fighting styles was very useful in assessing an enemy. The level of danger in this fight was medium at best. If all the priestess could use was her prayer beads, it was a safe assumption to make that she didn't use hand-to-hand combat.

"Are you ok, Cor?" The girl asked as Cordiculya finally rejoined them. "You should take a good look, Princess. The more you see it, the more tolerable you get. This is what a body looks like when it's stripped of their soul, and we can't bury her. Not yet, at least. We need to wait until we defeat the Youma. Those beads are bound to the priestess and if they're still bound tight, which they are, they won't be letting that corpse go any time soon." Kano knelt down and moved a little closer to the corpse, inspecting the decrepit skin for any notable signs. There was dark bruising around the woman's neck, all in the form of small circles.

"She was strangled." Kano mentioned softly as she narrowed her eyes. "We're all going to have to be extra vigilant with this Youma. It looks like she isn't the quick and easy type." Kano stood again and looked north where the trail continued. They still had a ways, she figured, since the temple couldn't be seen yet, but if they were going to use Angela for bait, they might as well let her take the lead for a while. The other girls would have to hang back, far enough for the Youma not to notice where they were, but that would be a little difficult.

Brianna/Boneka
Abandoned Hospital

Papyra's giant paper shuriken was enough to catch the little girl off guard, but Brianna deflected it by waving the strings attached to her fingertips and knocking it off course. As Brianna was in the middle of doing this, Lady Winter's Ice Fury spell connected with several spots on her arms, effectively freezing the youma's arm for a few seconds. Brianna screamed and stumbled back, prompting her marionettes to turn their attention to their master, but only briefly. The marionette attached to her left arm, and who also happened to be engaged in combat with La Voisin was temporarily immobilized.

Brianna used her uninjured hand and whipped her hand forward. The marionette mimicked Brianna's motions, and slashed at Crimson Moon with a straight hand. The marionette's hand, while not as durable as a sword, sustained the blow of Crimson's Moon's rapier. It lashed out again, only this time it held it's position against Crimson Moon, and attempted to push against the magical girl. It's mouth opened, and inside, a bright orange glow erupted from the marionette's mouth.

Papyra/Miyuki

After Lady Winter's attack landed on Brianna, Papyra noted that the marionettes stopped their attacking. Just as I suspected. It didn't take a genius to figure out that a puppet was useless without it's master. "La Voisin, now's your chance!" Papyra shouted. She shifted gracefully, yet swiftly into an archer's stance, and as if on cue, a white bow and arrow materialized in her hands. Papyra raised an eyebrow at Brianna, and fired at the girl several times.

It was in the basic nature of a Youma to fight to survive, and there was no way that Brianna would sit still while these humans attacked her, or her marionettes. "Insects!" She yelled, in a slightly deeper, almost demonic voice. She leaped back, only to be pierced in the shoulder by an arrow. The look of satisfaction on Papyra's face caused Brianna to scowl, yet there was a bigger change taking place.

"She's down! Finish her!" Papyra yelled. She prepared to fire off another arrow, and hopefully, her comrades were assisting as well.

It turned out La Voisin's attempts at defence weren't necessary as the marionette was unexpectedly immobilised, an event accompanied by a piercing scream. Looking over at the source of wailing, which turned out to be the devilish doll of youma, La Voisin saw that the Youma had been stunned by Papyra and Lady Winter. For a moment La Voisin was confused as to why the marionette would stop its assault when it was not the one hurt, until she realised the marionette was dependent Youma's direction. Made sense; a marionette needs it master's full attention on controlling it.

"La Voisin, now's your chance!" Papyra called out, as she struck the Youma with several arrows. As satisfying as it would be to simply sit back and watch the youma get pummelled by Papyra's arrows that probably wasn't the best way to accomplish La Voisin's goal of being a helpful team mate. "She's down! Finish her!" That confirmed it. Time for La Voisin to counter attack!

"Snake Fangs, shoot!"

La Voisin held out her staff before her, aiming it at the Youma. At the staff's tip a dart of poison formed, which then flew towards the Youma, swiftly followed by three more shots. Not her most powerful move, but La Voisin didn't want to accidentally hurt her team-mates by using her medium masteries in such a confined space. Poison didn't discriminate- it'd happily eat you up, be you Youma or magical girl, a cutie or an utter bi-.... a completely tolerable team-mate. A team-mate who would hopefully further assist in the assault, even if she was a 'do-it-alone' type.

Snake Fangs- Shoots 2 to 4 darts of poison at the enemy. Upon contact they will cause a moderate stinging sensation and slightly slow muscle movement.

Crimson Moon - Abandoned Hospital Basement

Crimson Moon continued grinning like an idiot as the marionette took her blow and kept on going, even as she was pushed back and injured by its renewed assault. She'd still feel that blow to the ribs tomorrow. This is what she'd been missing. The thrill of a real fight, where one's life was on the line. Her eyes widened slightly as the puppet kept close, and opened its mouth in a strange, glowing parody of a yawn. The sudden stop before a gout of flame came surprised her even more. The dolls, it seemed, weren't too effective when their master was under attack.

"There's no way it's this easy," Crimson Moon replied to Papyra's announcement. She casually kicked the motionless marionette aside, to contribute her own attack to La Voisin's. She quickly drew her sword across the palm of her free hand, opening a large cut.

"Fly, Scarlet shards!" Crimson Moon swung her cut hand forward, and several long, thin blades formed of blood were flung from the palm of her hand toward the Youma. Blood continued to drop from her hand as the wound slowly began to close. She wasn't about to just use her strongest attacks right from the start, even if she could only lose so much blood before she'd be in real trouble regardless of how she spent it.

Scarlet Shards: Mina launches a number of small blades formed of blood at a target.
Yet another minor mastery, so it's not about the high damage. Probably useful for setting up other things as it starts getting blood spread around, for detonating later.

When Lady Winter noticed that her spell made contact with the Little Brat Youma, she wanted to jump and scream in joy. Luckily she didn't; this was too serious of a situation for her antics. At least she knew that in some scenarios being an overdramatic Queen wouldn't do anything but get her hurt. She also noticed that when Brianna's arm was motionless, the marionette fighting La Voisin also stopped moving. "That's perfect." The puppets wouldn't be able to do anything if The Youma couldn't move her body. "I told you I would get you back brat!" She yelled as she spotted La Voisin getting ready to attack.

She went to cover her mouth and face with her arm, thinking that the girl would shoot out a cloud of poison but was grateful when she didn't. Papyra's arrow shot straight at the brat's shoulder and the Youma looked pissed. In the back of Lady Winter's mind something was trying to tell her that it wouldn't actually be this easy, and that things were just heating up. The girls would have to be way more careful now. Though she wasn't that much of a team player, she knew that she wouldn't be able to do this on her own. Watching as Papyra exclaimed that it was time to take the brat out.

"I don't know about this..." Hopefully it would be an easy win, being that it was the group's first battle. It wouldn't be that much of a surprise if Brianna became some huge beast or something in a few. That would be more believable to Lady Winter than the group getting out of this without some kind of crazy battle scene. Crimson Moon was right about it couldn't be that easy, maybe it wasn't. Instead of just standing there thinking about the situation at hand, Lady Winter decided to use another spell. "I think you need a timeout." She did a swift twirl as blue and white sparkles flew from her hands. Multiple large snowflakes were now hovering around Lady Winter. "Ahhh!" She screamed as the large snowflakes turned into streams of light and shot towards the Youma.

Ava-Rose can conjure up magical snowflakes that when they hit something, they will turn into magical snow cuffs that keep the target unable to move or attack. The cuffs can be broken very easy, just by smashing them on the ground or using fire on them. They make for a great way for her to regain some energy or escape a bad situation, while her opponent takes care of the cuffs.
[/spoili]
She was trying to not use up too much of her energy and magic, just in case something big was about to happen and they would need her stronger abilities to stop the beast in it's track.

Cynthia Einfeld - Mission One - Mint Team - Spooky Forest

Red's head snapped to the side, following Octavia's body as she flew from the unexpected and brutal hit. Ready or not, the speed that the plant possessed did not match its appearance. It's multiple limbs, tendrils, vines, whatever it was, promised a brutal beatdown if any one person fell victim to it's complete attention. Worse, judging from the lack of involvement from the vines that held the glowing flowers, this thing could call upon a frightening number of separate vines at them, and likely from all directions - if they overestimate it's prowess. With Octavia down, Red feared that the battle would drag on, and result in more casualties, victory or not. If they wanted to end the battle decisively, they had to do it quickly, even with more people on their side, with suitable elemental advantages, Red had no doubt that they'd fare unfavorably in a war of attrition.

Just as Carmen was suggesting her to take the offense, Red whistled, before unclipping both swords from her belt. From her side, the loyal firebird gave a sharp thrill before throwing itself forward sharply. It was fast, and it shot off like a bullet at the plant monster. Should the bird land, as Red hoped, the bird would simply burst into it's true intangible form - a seal, a mark, that would serve at the target for Red and the Hunters.

Speaking of, with both swords held firmly in her hands, a burning urge searing her veins, Red gave a clench of her fists as the chains of the two sword clattered just once, menacingly enough. "I'm more of a hunter," she spoke as fire began crackling over her knuckles. "Those vines look like they're trouble, and if I'm going to hurt that plant, I can't deal with it's arms trying to swat me off, you get what I'm saying?" Unfortunately, Red did not wait for a response and her ever light control over the fire was released. A flash of uncomfortable heat repulsed from her very person, but what followed filled her with relief rather than irritation - four majestic heads of predators formed and howled, as if challenging the plant before them, as the echoes of their snarls rippled their liquid fire form.

Armed and readied, Red lurched forward, kicking herself into action and flying forward as the four fire beasts tore a path for her - leading right to the plant monster. If the bird had done it's job … Red's lips curled up into a smile, even if the battle came to a loss, at least there'd be one helluva explosion when she went down.

Miyuki Aozora/Papyra
Abandoned Hospital

Papyra whipped her hand forward, sending an intricate lace whip made of paper at the Youma. It wrapped around the girls ankles and legs, securing her in place as the attacks came rushing in. She tightened the whip and braced herself, pulling tightly so that the Youma was facing forward. Papyra was sure that the Youma wouldn't stand a chance against the girls' raw power, but she was wrong.

The Youma erupted into a sudden burst of red light as the attacks threatened to hit it. All of their power was either deflected, or absorbed into the light. Brianna began to shift and twist in ways that seemed physically impossible. The skin that was on her body began to disintegrate and revealed a hideous, lanky, black wooden puppet that stood at over seven feet tall. It's spiky teeth were in rows upon rows in it's mouth. The Youma had four arms, and used it's first pair to hold two over sized puppeteer's control bars, while the other set were positioned in a traditional string puppet stle.

Papyra had been shielding her eyes from the blinding red light with her arms. She lowered them just slightly and saw the giant puppet standing in the little girl's place. This was the true form of that Youma. The descriptions in the text books were pretty spot on, but it was even more frightening to see one up close. She took half a step back in preparation for any attacks, and out of hesitance to go on the offense with the monster.

Whatever the girl's did after it had transformed was enough to set the Youma off. It screeched horribly and whipped it's second set of arms forward, sending a wave of invisible thread at Papyra, and another set at La Voisin. She couldn't see it, but judging by the way the Youma moved it was clear that it was on the attack. She leaped into the air to avoid whatever was coming, but soon found that something had found it's way around her limbs and neck, and if La Voisin didn't move the same would happen to her.

Papyra was suspended in the middle of the room, seemingly held up by thin air. Whatever was holding her up cut into her skin like razor blades, causing the invisible wire to be illuminated by her blood. The more she moved, the more the wire seemed to cut into her.

The Youma didn't spend another second on Papyra. It lunged forward, aimed at whoever still remained on the ground, it's control bars positioned for any melee attacks.

Youma, Papyra, La Voisin, Crimson Moon

Lady Winter stood there in shock, as she was a witnessed to the Youma transforming into the most gruesome and terrifying thing she had ever seen. It was even more frightening than spotting someone wearing neon polka dots with pastel stripes. She nearly passed out from the scene in front of her, but her Pride wouldn't let her look like that much of a coward. She was trying to wrap her head around everything, when she saw that Papyra was being restrained by some invisible entity. When the girl's blood started coming out from where the restraints were, Lady Winter would see that The Youma had shot invisible strings towards both Papyra and La Voisin.

Lady Winter spun on her heels, moving out of the way as the Youma lunged forward. "Not today, Brat." She ran to the other side of the room. To everyone in the basement, it would look like she was leaving them to die, but not even she was that selfish. Thinking on her toes, she shot her arms towards the ground and a block of ice rose beneath her. Sending her into the air a few feet lower than the Height of the Youma. "I hope this distracts that thing, so the girl's can finish it." She wasn't fond of being the Supporting Role, but her spells did better with distraction and burst damage than straight on melee attacks.

She was now encircling the Youma with her Ice Surfing Spell. It did more than just transport her around town.

Ice Surfing
latest

Ava-Rose can surf on ice and use it for transportation purposes or have somewhat of the same effect as her Wall of Ice Spell; being able to encircle another inside of the ice that she surfs on. Her Ice Surfing can only go soo far before the ice starts to shatter on it's own, not being a true structure built to last for longer than three minutes at a time.
[/spoili]
The circle of ice had a nice large crevice in one area for the girls to still get in attacks and the Youma would have to break down the wall to get back at them. She knew it wouldn't last for that long, but it was better to do this instead of trying to go one on one with the beast, when she knew her spells worked better at range. "This is our chance!"

[BCOLOR=#000000]"You need some time? I can do that."[/BCOLOR] Carmen felt her magic swell up within her, a familiar, calming sensation. The earth started to churn beneath her, cracking and rippling. "Earth Shield!" A shield of stone appeared around Red, giving her some cover but still enough room to launch attacks. And Carmen wasn't done, either. "Stone Shards!" A barrage of rocky projectiles hit the Youma, hopefully keeping it off-balance.

"You should take a good look, Princess. The more you see it, the more tolerable you get. This is what a body looks like when it's stripped of their soul…"

Cordiculya didn't really register the word at first, since she was too preoccupied with trying to suppress the uncomfortable flips her stomach kept making. When the words finally did seep into her mind, her green eyes swivelled around to give Kano an uncomfortable look.

In all the years she had spent at the academy, the princess-magical girl had never really gotten to know Kano very well. She knew of her: Kano's usual case of being unable to fully transform was the talk of the school when she had first made her appearance. However, the two's path rarely crossed, and eventually Kano faded out of importance in the Garland girl's mind; reduced to nothing more than just another oddity that the school housed.

But as the group stood before that silent and still copse, the muted wind sighing through their hair and the rest of the mountain hovering above them, Cordiculya felt like she was looking at the Kokuyo girl for the first time. Kano hadn't really spoken in any kind of strange way, just in her usual almost stoic seriousness, but maybe that's why it stood out to Cordiculya. Kano stood tall, unfazed and calm, while Cordiculya was still hugging her arms around herself after just losing what little contents her stomach had held. Cordiculya could still feel the buzz of her transformation in the air around her and yet she couldn't manage much more than a dread induced slouch, while Kano, armed only with a sword, looked ready to take on whatever was thrown at her.

The two girls stood at almost exactly the same height, and yet Cordiculya suddenly felt like Kano, untransformed and with comparatively few powers, towered over her.

"We're all going to have to be extra vigilant with this Youma. It looks like she isn't the quick and easy type."

Cordiculya blinked. Had Kano been speaking this entire time? Surely Cordiculya couldn't have spaced out that badly!?

"Y-you're right, of course." The wanna-be-princess eventually managed to cough out, while trying to somehow recount everything her mother taught in her in a few brief moments. "All four of our reputations hang in the balance, and it wouldn't do to come back from our first real assignment with anything but glowing results."

Despite saying this, Cordiculya could still feel that her stomach wasn't fully settled, and that a sense of real dread still hung around her. It shamed her that she still felt so much fear: her mother had done so much to try and ease that paralysing fear out of her, and yet here she was practically quaking in her shoes.

"We s-should stick to the plan." Cordiculya nodded, trying to at least sound like the team leader she was kind of, technically, still was. "Angela will move ahead as bait, and we'll follow behind at a respectable distance. I'll be prepared to provide some long range fire to a least divert the Youma's attention, while Kano and Kireina will prepare to move quickly and support Angela. If we take the Youma by surprise, we might yet get out off this mountain unscathed."

Crimson Moon - Abandoned Hospital

The Youma's transformation initially had Mina surprised, as the young girl practically burst open to reveal her true, monstrous form. The red light hurt her eyes, but it was impossible to look away from the grotesque transformation. Before, it felt a little like beating up on a little kid, but now...now it wasn't holding back, just as a fight should be. Mina was too excited by that prospect to be frightened.

"Guess it's time for us to pull out all the stops too," she asked nobody in particular. The youma's initial attack had caught Papyra, and she was quickly strung up, helplessly bleeding out onto incredibly fine wires, or...whatever it had used to ensnare her. Crimson Moon had more important things to worry about, like actually going on the offensive. She wasn't about to just let the monster keep the initiative.

Crimson Moon sidestepped the lunge, attempting to parry the Youma's attack and turn it away without giving up much ground. She didn't succeed, and took a staggering blow, stumbling back several steps before she could catch herself. "Not...bad." She chuckled as she regained her poise. "I'm really starting to enjoy this." She began to trace a hexagram in the air with her free hand. "Loyal servants, heed my beckoning call, and spring forth from thy master." With the brief incantation, a red mist poured out of her body, and coalesced into four small, birdlike creatures which glistened bright red in the pale light. Crimson Moon wavered slightly, looking paler than ever, then gestured toward the youma with her rapier. "Fly, High Familiar!" The four shapes took off, launching themselves at the youma's four arms.

The Blood Knight took the Ice Princess' opening, running to chase her own attack even as she was still weakened from the expenditure of blood and magic. For however long those melting ice walls held, that monster was trapped right in there with her. "Come on," she shouted as she began a series of attacks and feints with her rapier. "Let's dance!" Something in her all-out attack was bound to land a blow, between her spell and her own assault.

Blood Servant - [High Familiar]: Mina creates four small, hawk-like creatures from her blood, and sends them out to attack an enemy. They will relentlessly seek out their designated target unless destroyed by direct attacks, as they try to slam into the target and explode.

Forest Clearing - Mint Team vs. Colossal Plant Youma

The plant-like monster seemed in no way perturbed by the rock walls thwarting its initial attack, as it roared again and a second barrage of flailing tendrils soon followed, as Red's small bird of flame slipped past and struck the creature's trunk. It hardly seemed to notice such a thing, and also hardly seemed mobile enough to dodge effectively.

Red's advance was covered well by her burning hounds, as they managed to snap at and char several vine tendrils, biting some apart but sending most recoiling away from the intense flames with a hiss of anger. The stone projectiles thudded harmlessly off the creature's bark-like skin, rolling away to form a pile near its roots. Another few vines whipped right at Carmen. She'd gotten some of its attention, but it certainly didn't seem to stop trying to fend Red off, even as she advanced closer.

The second shield of earth gave a momentary reprieve, likely for both sides, before a rumbling gave warning of another direction of attack: directly below. Fresh vines burst from the ground right under Red, knocking her into the air and almost entangling her to further stop her advance. If she didn't have her own attack dogs to keep them at bay, she could have ended up completely helpless. With Red mere feet from its main trunk, the plant roared again and turned to snap at her with jaws big enough to swallow her whole.

Angela Christie
Forest Road

it begins at long last . . . .

Angela gave the other three girls a quick reassuring smile before taking off her school jacket and slipping some headphones into her ears. As far as utility and the like was concerned, Angela was probably the strongest one present. She had long- and short-range options, a couple summons for business, and even a spear she could protect herself with without using a mastery ability. "Nothing's playing from the headphones, don't worry," she explained. "I'm not gonna transform until she shows up, so if you guys hear me transform, come running. Til then, I'm gonna run ahead." True to her word, she started jogging a bit so she could put some distance between herself and the rest of the group, and it wasn't long before they weren't visible without actually looking for them.

Which created the perfect opportunity for attack.

The youma didn't appear out of the blue. Angela saw her coming, sort of. She was wearing the typical shrine maiden garb, so the magical girl had initially mistaken the youma for an actual miko when she'd passed her on the road. Something was off, though. Angela wasn't sure if it was the bloodshot eyes or the visibly menacing dark aura surrounding her, but within seconds of Angela making her realization known--unintentionally, or so the story goes--the youma was upon her, beads around the neck and face contorted in rage.

Just the opening Angela needed, sort of. It wasn't a proper opening, but Angela was able to squeeze her hands beneath the beads, put a touch of space between them and her neck, and muster the breath to scream "Cygnar Pride!" loud as she could, triggering her transformation.
