Years have passed since Cutter’s time, since the great battle against the round ears for their Holt was lost. Many tribes fled deeper into their woodland or desert homes, or perished fighting. There is rumour that the world of elves, of Wolf riders and Go-Backs, of Sun Folk and Gliders, is over, and that none live now to tell the tale.

The Gliders perished, hunted down by the humans.

But some odd years later, it is discovered that there are a small few Holts remaining; a Holt of Wolf Riders, Go-Backs, and far, far into the desert, Sun Folk. But everything has changed; the round ears have begun to kill packs of wolves, many of them had been Wolf-Friends to the Wolf Riders. Many packs have already been wiped out, and in defense, many elves have died trying to save their kin. A new war blossoms between the elves and men, far worse than before. The humans have developed guns, which seem like monsters to the elves who’d never seen such things before. To the elves, these weapons are firesticks, and deadly. The wolf Riders watch as their beloved forest home get destroyed, and their people murdered. worse are the battles now; back in the times of old, their weapons had at least been equal. Now the round ears are ten times more dangerous than ever before.

The Wolf Riders have but three choices; fight, flee or die. They had been chased from their homes time after time; running is futile. What good would life be if it was spent on the run, and not on hunts?

Races

Wolf Riders

Wolf Riders are a society of normally woodland loving elves that, like their title, ride wolves. Only their relationship with their wolf is incredibly strong. They have this bond that lasts as long as either one is alive. They have very, very good senses, like that of what their 'Wolf-Friends' have thanks to sharing wolf blood. They have characteristics that set them apart from the other tribes. They are nocturnal, like their wolf brothers. They have such a close bond with wolves that they can 'send' with them. They live by a code called 'The Way.' They value freedom and passion.

Chief:

Tree Pine

Sun Folk

These are desert dwelling people, and their skin is always tan to adjust to the hot blazing sun. They do not have wolf-friends, and they find sending to be vastly unnecessary. They work with copper, silver and minerals for a living, and they don't understand what Recognizing means unless it directly happens to them. They have strayed away from their wolf-blood. However, ever since Cutter and his Holt came across them long before the Great Battle, the Sun Folk have begun to adapt back to their Wolf Rider blood, and go by 'The Way'.

Go-Backs

A strong warrior kind of society, they do not ride wolves but stags/deer. However, they do not bond with their stags as strongly as a Wolf Rider, or a Glider with their bird. Also, they do not Recognize because they hold a different way of procreation; before a battle, they usually have an orgy. Since both sexes go to war, this ensures that they will have spread their genetics farther if one parent should not return from battle. They normally lived in more hostile places such as high in the Blue Mountains with plenty of snow, so they are adapt to living in snow rather than the desert, and the simple lower woodland of the Wolf Riders. They have barbaric tendencies, and value their offspring. However they believe in a warrior's early death.

Magicks

All elves have magical powers. But there are some on this list I want you to PM me before giving to yourself, those will have a * on them. For those ones, message me a paragraph why you think your character needs that ability. (*) means that while everyone has the power of this, part of that needs to be brought by me first. ** means you really have to convince me.

Sending- EVERY elf has this ability, even the Go-Backs who do not value magic. Sending is talking through telepathy. Elves can send thoughts, images, and feelings to one another.
Black Sending- The Ability to cause physic pain. However this can be blocked by a healer. *
Power Sending- The ability control the mind, and stretch incredibly far ; Strongbow was one of the few that could control the mind. **
Send-Block- The ability to block sending*
Astral projection- The ability to go out of their body and communicate with other magical users in a physical plane

Mind Snare- For those who can use the astral plane, they know that there are some out there that can keep them from re-entering their bodies*

Fire Starting- Rare to Wolf Riders, the ability to start fire with magic. Misuse can cause dire consequences

Freezing Stare- The ability to put someone in a hypnosis by just staring at them*

Force Shield- The ability to create a magical force field, preventing physical or magic attacks*

Healing- This ability is seen as useless to Go-Backs, but to Wolf Riders and Sun Folk, it is essential. It's having the ability to heal others from injury or disease. Unscrupulous healers can invert the power by violently stimulating pain nerves to make the target experience agonizing pain.

Flesh Shaping- The ability to manipulate flesh to their desires. Which means that they can reshape anyone they like; this ability is strong for not just good but great healers. * (For the healers accepted with this ability, PM me about further abilities)

Shielding- The ability to shield someone else with their own healing powers.

Levitation- The ability to levitate something with telekinesis **

Tree Shaping- The ability to grow and shape plants.

About the elves (some taken fro Wiki, all credit due to them)

Soul Names- All Wolf Riders have soul names. They are not the name that others call them, but a hidden name only the person they recognize with knows. Very rare is the case someone else who isn't recognizing them discover it; it's very private. In some cases, like Skywise and Cutter, they knew their soul names by accident, but became brother in all but blood. If you want that with another character, swing the idea by me first.

Recognition- When two elves of opposite sex having exceptionally compatible qualities for reproduction meet they experience a sudden and immediate compulsion to mate. This leads to a child and often becoming life-mates. A Wolfrider who experiences Recognition involuntarily surrenders his or her soul name to the other recognized elf. This is described by the phrase, "soul meets soul when eyes meet eyes."

Recognition is a purely involuntary urge that has no regard for pre-existing relationships. This can cause considerable tension between one or both of those experiencing it and their established partners; while Recognition does not dictate the formation of a lasting relationship, it is very common. This is very likely due to the two elves involved knowing the other's soulname, removing all barriers to essentially knowing everything about the person. Generally, even if a longer relationship does not develop, a new-found level of respect is formed. Some elves have tried to resist Recognition, but this only causes them to experience increasing physical and mental distress. However, Richard Pini has stated that unconsummated Recognition is never fatal.

Emotional reactions to Recognition have varied widely with different characters. For instance, Leetah's parents were close for some time before they Recognized, and they immediately complied with the biological imperative without any argument. By contrast, Leetah attempted to resist her Recognition with Cutter, but the combination of Cutter's patience with her reticence, her growing appreciation for Wolfrider culture, and her elder's counsel on the matter convinced her to cooperate, until Recognition faded favor of a strong love. On the other hand, Dewshine and Tyldak of the Gliders were mutually resistant until they were convinced to fulfill the physical requirements before agreeing to go their separate ways. However, when Dewshine's lifemate, Scouter, recognized Tyleet, Dewshine was delighted at this development, and in turn they formed a triad.

The purpose of Recognition is to produce healthy offspring that have their beneficial inherited characteristics maximized. Whatever emotional upheavals it may cause, all elves agree that children conceived in Recognition have greater physical, mental and magical gifts than those who are not. For example, the children of the recognized lifemates, Cutter and Leetah, Suntop and Ember have considerable magical potential and physical hardiness respectively. However, gifted offspring resulting from non-Recognized parents do occur; One example is Kahvi and Rayek's magically endowed daughter Venka.

Recognition can have direct consequences for the affected adults. For instance, Dewshine and Tyldak's perception of each other is directly influenced by the effect; Dewshine sees Tyldak in his normal form before Winnowil altered his body into a bird-like structure while Tyldak sees her as a half-animal with fur and a vaguely lupine face. Another example is the Recognized union of Woodlock and Rainsong, notably prolific as far as elves go.
Lovemates- Elves that have either (or both) a physical and/or emotional relationship with another elf without recognizing. Sometimes it is just casual, but sometimes they really love one another. An elf that is in a relationship with a Lifemate can also have a Lovemate if the other approves of it. Lovemates can be any sex.

Rules

-Ask BEFORE recognizing another character
-Basic roleplay rules. You don't know these, learn them
-Please use proper grammar, descriptive paragraphs (no, 'He sits on the couch and eats the sandwich. And flips the TV one.'), and please do your best with spelling. I understand off days, but when it is constant I will message you about it
-Don't give short paragraphs back. One long good descriptive paragraph is fine, even two. Or three. But no on liners and short replies please.

If I haven't scared you away with my wall of explanations and you do want to join the roleplay, then here is the character sheet.

Personality

Sparrow is a very carefree wolf rider. He loves the stars, much like Skywise. He’s strong, and serious when he needs to be. He is gentle for the most part; he actually doesn’t like fighting all that much. But if he needed to, he would fight to the death for his Holt. Loyalty, honour, friendship all mean quite a bit to him. He doesn’t believe that anyone should just sit there while someone else suffers; he’s very passionate about what he believes in.

He can be shy at times, especially around women. He gets embarrassed easily; he would jade on a Go-Back. But like his father, and his forefather, he is a strong leader. Being the son of the chief, he is expected to someday assume command of the Holt; much is expected of him. But many a times has he disappointed his father with his actions. He was very reckless in his youth; always pulling pranks, dodging bullets, endangering himself and someone else at times.

If you needed something done, he would more than likely do it. He is a very giving person, but never deceive him; he does not tolerate liars, thieves, and cub killers/snatchers. He gets defensive in arguments about cubs, and the good of the Holt.

He does have a habit of thinking outside of the box, and is cunning. But he can act impulsively; he relies one some of the wiser members of the Holt to tell him if he should do whatever it is that he is planning or not.

Sparrow has long, brown hair tied up in a warrior’s knot. His bangs kind of shield his forehead. Since his mother had been from the Sun Folk tribe, he shares her tan skin. But he has his father’s deep azure eyes, and his smaller stature; even for an elf. But what he lacks in height he makes up for in both mental and physical strength; he is built very well. He doesn't look much like his father, but he doesn't look much like his mother either besides her skin.

He has a thin body.

His face is hard to forget; he has well defined cheekbones (as all elves have), and he has black face fur stretching from one ear to the other, like his father. Only his is quite a bit less bushy than Tree Pine's.

he is very expressionate.

Clothing

He wears a dark green long vest that reveals his chest. The vest stretches all the way to his hips where a long gold belt holds it in place, resting on top of brown skin hugging leather pants. He wears long furry brown boots that stretch to mid-calf. A green sash is tied around his head to keep his bangs out of his face. Around his wrists and arms are golden clothlike cuffs.

History

Sparrow’s mother, Star Dew, died in childbirth with his little sister Moon Lance. His father wasn’t particularly upset at this because he and Star Dew had recognized and neither of them really enjoyed one another. Growing up, Sparrow was trained well in ‘The Way’. His father was harsh with him only due to his wish for his son to succeed. Sparrow became transfixed with the stars, wondering about the stories of High Ones, and if there ever was a time that Wolf Riders lived in peace away from round ears. As he got older, more was expected of him. While his father was off on patrols and hunts, it was Sparrow’s job to watch the Holt. Soon, Sparrow was trusted with leading hunts.

He discovered that he can tree shape after he was attacked by a large bear. He touched a tree in desperation and made a hollow for himself; after that, he looked into what further abilities he had. After healing he found out the ability to send block, which made things easier for the reckless lad to defy his father, and do as he wished. It was this attitude that made Tree Pine consider training Sparrow's little sister Moon Lance to be chief after him. But Sparrow, as he got older, became quite a bit more responsible after realizing that life taken for granted will surely get you, and your Holt, killed.

He has yet to recognize, and take on any lovemates. It is a mystery to his father why he hasn’t taken lovemates yet; he grew far passed the age of being able to.

He was, and still is, infuriated with the mass murder of the wolves, and the deforestation.

Tree Pine is a very serious man. He doesn’t joke around, and gets stressed out easily. He does have anger issues, but he gets angry at good reasons. He thinks his son takes life too lightly; after that all has been happening he doesn’t understand how the young lad could joke around like he always does. He is a very caring man, but sometimes it is hard to tell with his stern ways. However, he is a great leader. Many would follow him into battle, bleed and die for him. He has led them to safety for many years. He is a devoted father, leader, and a charismatic leader. He is honest and fair.

He is stubborn however, and can be a bit hard headed.

Descriptions (no pictures unless you run them by me first. Rather you type it out)

He has very broad shoulders, and a strong built physique. Like his son, he has azure eyes. But he has red hair that like any chief is in a warrior’s knot. He keeps his bangs tied back with the knot to keep it from flying in his face during a fight or a hunt. He is pale skinned, like most Wolf Riders. He has a large red beard that stretches from one ear to the other, and a connecting mustache. Many scars lay around his body; one in particular would be on his leg where he was shot by a round ear trying to defend his wolf-friend at the time, Night Howler.

He has a round like face with high cheek bones.

Clothing

He doesn’t wear a shirt, but many bracelets and necklaces hang on him, all made of leather. He wears light brown pants without any shoes; he hates wearing shoes. Around his waist is a loin cloth as well, and a pouch on the side of his hip. He keeps his hair braided in places.

Special Items

His father’s wolf collar (not meant as an ownership gesture)

Weapons (if any)

One dagger

Magicks

Black Sending

History

His parents died while he was just a teen cub. Caught by hunters on their wolf-friends, they had been teaching young Tree Pine and his sister Robin Shard how to ride properly when hunters shot at them. Their parents led the hunters away while the cubs ran. The Holt never saw their leaders again, forcing the once happy-go-lucky Tree Pine to take his father’s place as chief. His sister refused; she was unsure that she would lead them right. After her parent’s deaths, she hadn’t been very sound of mind. Tree Pine, who had previously been known as Tree Will, was now chief of a Holt. But to everyone’s surprise, this cub was a great leader.

Years pass, and many wolves have been slaughtered. It was rumoured that their pack might very well be the last one still alive; which made them precious to them. He recognized with Star Dew when he was about 300, and had their first child, Sparrow. His lovemate Bird Song was tolerated as Star Dew and Tree Pine didn’t get along thanks to his gruff ways.

He ran into trouble when he and his old wolf-friend, Night Howler, ran into a group of humans (round ears) on a hunt. He tried to escape, but as Night Howler turned to flee, a bullet ripped through his chest, killing him instantly. He felt the pain of losing his best friend, and received a nasty injury to the right leg.

He hates humans with a fiery passion.

He rebonded with a young black she-wolf named Star Swirl.

The relationship with Star Dew however never got the chance to build, because she died giving birth to Moon Lance, their daughter. Bird Song brought up the children as if they were her own.

While Sparrow was young (teen wise at least), he didn’t see much promise in the reckless child. It was when his son almost died fighting a bear did the dumb kid get some sense, and grew to be a great leader after a while. Tree Pine even let him lead hunts after a while.

Name: Firedust

Soul Name: Aiwyn

Age: Approximately one hundred and fifty.

Gender: Female

Race: Mixed (Go-Back and Wolf Rider)

Kin: Stoneshy (Mother)

Lovemate:

Lifemate:

Job: Healer

Personality: Rough and tumble, Firedust is one of the last you'd expect to be a healer. She can hardly stand still long enough to eat anything and always seems to be in motion. She's endlessly curious and will ask, or say, whatever comes to mind. Her boldness and fierce disposition are only matched by her strong sense of loyalty and duty.

Wolf: Rainfall

Descriptions: Leanly muscled, Firedust's posture and physique suggests a bow pulled taut. She's taller than most of the Wolf Rider women, likely due to her mixed blood, it's said, and it could well be the case. Her deep green eyes are a reflection of her mother's, but she does not share the pale blond hair of Stoneshy. Instead, her hair is a burnished bronze color, typically pulled up and away from her face in a style similar to a hunter's knot. Her left eyebrow is marred with a scar, given in her youth for disobedience and a willful tongue.

Clothing: Preferring to conceal her figure, Firedust dons clothing more in the style of the youth. She wears long tops and pants, typically choosing leathers dyed green for her tops and brown for the pants. Her boots cover the brown pants to the knee and are deep emerald leather.

Special Items:

Weapons: Well-versed with a bow, Firedust is rarely seen without one slung gracelessly over one shoulder.
Magicks:
Sending
Shielding
Healing

History:
Firedust, or as she was known as a child, Bright Eyes, was not an especially welcome child to her father or her mother. A result of Recognition that occurred entirely by chance. Stoneshy had ventured further than normal to gather, with scare supplies for winter, and happened across a Go-Back who'd been badly wounded. Sympathetic by nature, Stoneshy had brought the man back to her village and tended to his health with salves made from roots and herbs.

When the Go-Back came to his senses once more, he was furious at having been denied an easy death, with his injuries leaving him badly scarred and significantly weaker. He blamed Stoneshy for the disgrace and for displaying his vulnerability and weakness to her tribe. However, when he confronted her face-to-face, he unwillingly recognized her. The child born from this union was the spirited and wild Bright Eyes, who gave her mother ceaseless trouble from the time she was old enough to stand.

While one cannot say that Stoneshy was a bad mother to the little girl, it cannot be argued that she let her run free more often than most might. As long as the girl was flitting through the trees with her wolf pup, she was not busy pestering Stoneshy. There were many arguments between them as the girl grew and she ended up spending more time with other members of the tribe than her mother.

In youth, no one could coax Bright Eyes to sit still long enough to discover that she had any hidden talents. Everyone was certain that she would be another hunter, alongside her fierce and proud wolf. However, when the girl began to mature more, it was revealed that she'd been blessed with strong healing abilities and was plucked away from her romps in the forest to study beneath the tribe's healer instead.

Job (are ye hunter, gatherer, healer, babysitter?)
Metalsmith; charged with the creation of weapons and jewelry made of various metals in her tribe.

Personality
Hard-working and passion about her creations, Firebrand is as fierce as her name. She wears a smile on her face, and is a friendly woman to all, but draws boundaries and gets serious when she needs to be. Born the daughter of a songstress and a hunter, Firebrand sees equal need of beauty as well as functionality in the world around her. She loves to make-up stories to the children and arm the hunters with weapons that will never fail them. She is fiercely protective of her sister Sunspot, and acts more like her mother than her sister, leaving their parents to both shake their heads and smile.

If wolf Rider, who is your wolf

None

Descriptions (no pictures unless you run them by me first. Rather you type it out)
Her bronze skin runs very average among her tribe, as she spends inside as she does outside. Her dark eyebrows that match her earthy hair cause her face to be extremely expressive; with an eyebrow constantly raised in amusement, irritation, or bewilderment. She is not overly slender, like her female friends mostly are, and has gained reasonable muscle from years of heavy hammering and lifting during her numerous creations. She has minor cuts and scars on her arms; the marks of a clumsy apprentice when she'd started her path as a metalsmith. Her average build and sky-sent eyes are the back-burner of her exuberant personality.

Clothing
Despite working with metals meaning she is one with grime and metal dust, Firebrand prefers tunics made of blues; much to the dismay of the clothing-makers of her tribe. She mainly wears strips of the dyed color cloth over her chest and an old, worn pair of breeches while she works, wanting to make sure not to overheat herself. When not working, Firebrand sees no point in pretty, flowing dresses and will don simple tunics.

Special Items
Her mother's old silver locket; it is said the old piece of junk can bring out one's potential; but it's honestly just a hunk of metal Firebrand wears to please her mother.

Weapons (if any)
Having a love of precision, Firebrand's favored weapon is daggers; she will use a spear if she has to.

Magicks (remember to run the ones with the * by me first)
Her interest in bending and shaping metal began as a late teenager, when she learned she could set anything she really, really wished to on fire. Years later, her semi-honed skills aid her craft and protect her from danger, as long as she can keep extremely narrowed focus.

History
As a child, it was quick for Firebrand to make friends; everyone loved talking to her, and she was a fun person to be around. Her mother had once said it was because of a fire burning bright in her; that others were drawn to the warmth of her. Her discovery of her own special power firmed that belief in Fire's mind, and the girl worked hard to be an "everyone's friend" sort of person. As she grew, she tried several different tasks in her village to see what she would choose as her life's profession. After wandering around trying everything she could, from basket-weaving to hunting, she found her heart was not in any of it. One day, and intense anger at herself for not being able to commit to anything caused a sword to light fire after several swings in the empty dessert air. In her shock, she dropped the sword, and was transfixed by its red-hot glow. She stubbornly forced the village blacksmith to teach her his trade, and eventually, she proved she could be just as good of one as he, and she could also create art with her ore-working abilities. Now, she is an accomplished woman, with a little sister just entering her hundred years of life, and a forge with a great reputation.

*When I say "teenager" years, I mean in human age appearances, not elven.

Job: Hunter, Midwife, Wood carver
Personality: selfless, forgiving, sad, hurt, quiet, helpful
If wolf Rider, who is your wolf N/A
Picture of mount (can apply to any)

Descriptions: Sapphire was named by her father for the sapphires that she had for eyes. Her skin was fair not really tanned for most of her time she spent inside a building not really joining the celebrations that her village had. Her body was slim and slender. Her skin as smooth as a freshly found pearl her hair to her waist as deep as the fire that burned in the forges bellow the city. She was medium sized for a woman sitting at four foot six inches. Her hands were slim and her figures long. People could tell that she used her hands. Cuts and scares showed on her young hands.

Clothing: Most of the time a leather tunic covered her breast leaving her stomach showing. Leather leggings allowed riding her Stag easier but a cloth skirt was more appropriate to wear among her people. Wearing very little color she usually wore browns and blacks.
Special Items: Sapphire pendent around a gold chain that her father gave her at birth, Letters from Silverlight before his death, Whistle from Silverlight for his wolf (Saphinxia)
Weapons: Bow and arrow

Magicks:Healing and shielding
History: Sapphire is that kind of girl that didn't really stay in the town were the metal rained over their head. Her clan had made their home covered in the metal that they had honored and praised. Something however in Sapphire's heart just didn't sing when she saw the metal above her head, even though she could name every metal by sound, taste, texture, and smell. Something drew the girl to the trees to the line where it separated her soul and her body. Sorrow might have drawn her here but she didn't want to dig in her heart that far to find that answer out. It seemed since the death of her parents and her lover she had found herself making the long journey on her stag to the edge of the trees looking into them with hope and desire of freedom but mostly answers to this sad life. Jumping off her stag everyday she would go to the nearest tree and run her soft hands along the bark. This is where she met him the man that changed everything about her. Giving a sigh and a tear she would offer a piece of gold to the offering of the forest and ride back to her home under the metal that they honored.

It seemed like the village was more happy than usually today as she rode back into the city people were dancing around in colorful dresses and garments. Looking down at her friend who was with her husband she jumped from her stag letting it go back to the stables. "What is going on?" She asked her friend before looking up to the village leader. "It is time Sapphire. Go!" She exclaimed to the midwife. It was time alright. Taking in a deep breath this was the hundredth baby that the midwife had helped deliver. Heading up to the home of her leader she bowed to him then stepped inside disappearing to her people.

Hours it seemed to go by before Sapphire opened the door to the house and stepped out into the sun shine to face her people looking at her. Smiling she slowly stepped down the stairs and among her people. Behind her she could hear the door open as the older male elf joined the celebration outside with a little child in his arms. "It is a boy." He said as he held the baby in the air. Sapphire peaked over her shoulder at the baby who was being presented to the people like an animal like something they were going to start to worship. Letting out a heavy breath she hung her head and made her way back to her house. Opening the door to her cold and drafty house she put down her reins from her stag on the table and flopped into a near by chair. For she knew this was what was going to happen the next week and the week after that.

Mature due to the graphics on recognizing and stuff. I didn't want teens and adults getting in awkward situations, I was playing it safe (ElfQuest is awesome, but there is some serious sexual lines in it. Example: the Go-Back orgy)

I was in the same pickle I have been a devout follower of the Pinis since the beginning of elf quest. In fact, I have the newest edition, 'Elf Quest the Final Quest' beside me as I type! lol *sigh* Thing is I don't do sexual RPs because I am older and ehhh well I sorta don't want to rob a cradle if you get my gist lolol *embarrassed laughter*

Again.

I put it in the mature section because I was nervous about the sexual scenes. I didn't want teens to go into that with adults. But if you feel that this could work in the Fantasy, feel free to move it.
