☐ ℬeauty & the ℬeast

Nikolai didn't want the girl whom he was starting to love to leave, but he knew it was the best concerning her future. He bid her a farewell at the airplane terminal, hugging her dearly. He knew it would make no difference, but there was no shame in trying to cling to her in attempts to never let her go. "Last call for plane D-3," The hostess behind the desk called through the intercom. Vera stood by her brother with Charlie holding her hand. She was giving Nikolai as sad smile. In return, he shook his head and told her was fine.

"E-mail me when you get there, okay?" He patted her head as she walked away to board the plane. Bea turned around and gave him one last glance before walking through the threshold. Nikolai walked over to the large glass window that spanned the entire wall. He stood there until the plane took off safely. He turned towards Charlie and Vera who were still looking at him pitifully. "No use in being sad," he faked a smile, "you guys have a wedding to plan." The way Nikolai saw it, the quicker the wedding date comes, the quicker he could see Bea. Of course, he wanted to see Vera happily married to the guy of her dreams.

"Let's go home," Vera grabbed Nikolai's hand and swung all three of their arms. Nikolai turned his head one last time to look out the window.

---- 2 1|2 years skip.

The years had passed by so quickly. The seasons changed with the different colors and the different temperature. Sure Bea was content with the work she had accomplished but she felt broken on the inside. She was missing her other half. Though not everything was as terrible as she imagined. She stayed strong and made a couple of friends who loved her for her and not her title or wealth. Her job was quite nice but she knew by the end of this year, she would be transferring off to another country.

She packed the clothing and items she had. Her blond hair had grown even longer since the past few years. The emails she had sent to Nikolai had been inconsistent. Seemed like the both of them were very busy. Sometimes she got a reply within a week but she found herself writing and writing but erasing it all in the end. She wanted to confess. After all this time, she knew that there was no denial in it. The beauty had fallen deep for the beast. And she wanted nothing more than to be with him. Anything for him. Just his touch and his presence brought joy. The thought painted a soft smile on her face. She closed the suitcase and took the tickets from her bag. She was going back to the familiar place where it all began. Russia.

On the plane, she flipped through the pictures she had saved. She held them close to her heart since they remained as memories. She hoped that nothing would have changed between them. She hoped he hadn't found someone else. The idea burned like a forest fire. Rage and jealousy was growing but she did her best to calm herself. She needed to be optimistic and strong.

Getting off the plane, she felt the familiar coldness of the snow. This time, she knew her way through the streets well enough. She had booked her own hotel. She wanted to surprise him. She would see him again on Saturday. Within two days she would be with him again. The idea was heart warming. She spent the next two days unpacking and wandering around the area, re visiting her memories. She was happy and excited.

On Saturday, she was dressed warmly but also in finery. Hoping to look her best to impress him. Her long blond hair had been pinned into a soft low bun as her soft curls framed the front of her face. Her eyes glittered with silver sparkles. Her cheeks were rosy and her lips a sweet strawberry tint. She wore a long dark red dress that hugged her figure tightly. On her feet were simple nude pumps. She grabbed her fur coat and purse, ready.

At the church, she found herself staring around for him but there were too many people. She saw Vera walk down the isle with Nikolai bringing her down the isle. She stared in awe at Vera's beauty and Nikolai's face. Tears welled up in her eyes. She listened to the vows. Her parents were somewhere in the crowd as well. But she was too absorbed in the ceremony. Charlie had grown even more mature, his face with genuine sweet seriousness. She envied it.

As they were all dismissed for the main venue, Bea found herself caught in a group of annoying boys. She gripped a glass of champagne and found her way out from all of them. She wanted to search for him so badly but there were too many people and she ended up in the corner, waiting... hoping. Tears slid down her thick black eyelashes. Where was he...

It had been such a long, long time since he'd seen that face; he wanted to hug her, kiss her, run his hand through those luscious golden locks. Dear God, the emotion that swelled up inside his chest was almost unbearable. He loved her. Yes, Nikolai Romanav, the beast, was in love with Beatrice Fontaine. She was a beauty, through and through, not only her face. He didn't want to loose her, not to anything or anyone. The past two and a half years of his life had gone by in a monotone blur. Finally, finally today he would be seeing Beatrice. His Beatrice.

Vera's wedding was extravagant to say in the least. Everything was dyed in a brilliant silver or crimson hue. Vera herself was as gorgeous as ever. Her beautiful black hair spiraled down her back, diamond hairclips pinned in at various spots, causing the raven-color to shimmer fantastically. Her dress was breath taking, heart stopping. It was a mermaid, sweat-heart line. Hints of jewels were scattered across the neckline and waist. A white, old-style choker around Vera's neck simply extenuated this. At the bottom, intricate lace swept across the dress so finely, it was almost impossible to see far away. Of course, she adorned a veil like a traditional bride, but it was longer then most, and it was also tucked into a crown. Paired with Charlie, the duo radiated pure pulchritude like they were some unstoppable force.

Throughout the vows, Vera kept herself from crying, but Nikolai saw her shaking hands and glazed eyes. Really, she was so fragile. After the two kiss, and Vera was officially a Fontaine, everyone flooded into the reception area-- Vera said she was throwing her bouquet after food. Nikolai had yet to see Beatrice, and his heart was beginning to ache. However, in the corner of his eye, something red flashed by. It seemed familiar, he didn't know how or why, but Nikolai knew. He trailed after it in vain, as it soon disappeared into the crowd.

It was beginning to get late, and the further the clock ticked on, the more frustrated Nikolai became. He was on the verge of stepping up to take over the band's show and screaming for Beatrice to come out right then and there.

When the clock drew up to the eleven o'clock mark, Nikolai stepped out onto the dance floor for the first time, where Vera and Charlie had long since been dancing. He intervened with the groom, and held his sister on the shoulder and waist. Vera looked up at him knowingly, "did you not find her, Brother?" She asked sympathetically while the duo swayed in union. Charlie, also picking up on the problem, trailed off to find his sister. Vera's eyes flickered around the room, and then she smiled. "Remember the party you dragged her to."

Nikolai nodded, a bit dense at what she was hinting at. "She took refuge in a corner, stupid brother." Vera spun out of their dance, and then bowed. "The Princess waits for her Beast." The 'Beast' merely clicked his tongue and then ripped his way through the sea of bodies. He had checked two out of the four corners, and then coming upon the third, his heart stopped. The familiar red dress flooded his widening eyes. "Bea!"

As soon as she had heard the familiar voice, her attention completely turned. Oh how tears were glistening in the corner of her eyes. She felt indefatigable, her adrenaline rushed through her whole body. The thumping of her heart echoed in her ears, she beyond happy. Ecstatic. Beatrice didn't give a damn who was around or watching. Within seconds her slender hands had wrapped itself around his familiar neck. Her lips had found their way to his. Every familiar memory returned into her mind like a blinding sensation. When their lips had finally parted, her head rested against his chest as his hand was grasped around her waist. Finally speaking, she swallowed her overwhelming feelings.

"You have no idea how it ha-has been ... without you. I've missed you every single day, damn you Nikolai Romanov. You've already stolen my heart, or as the Russian would say... Я люблю тебя."

Soon enough the two had found everyone else. Vera looked magnificent as usual, her cheeks flushed pink as she stood next to Charlie who seemed constantly concerned about her well being. It was sweet but a bit ... suspicious. Though between the two, there was something secretive going on. And sure enough, the truth came out like a bang of fireworks. They were outside on the grassy green lawn. Simple stone benches were placed outside as well as dead fountains. No water spilled out but the statue figurine of the angel was still gleaming in the moonlight, no definite marks were on it. Bea found warmth with the comfort of Nikolai besides her.

"Uh.. um..." Vera said hesitantly, her hands placed on her cheeks while Charlie looked embarrassed for once.

"We wanted to tell you before we told ... mother and father." Charlie said softly.

Vera nodded in agreement, her eyes glistening with a hint of excitement.

"Well what is it?" Bea asked softly, as her curiosity grew with each ticking second.

Vera took in one deep breath and announced to both, "I'm three months pregnant!"

Bea sat there in astonishment. She glanced over at Nikolai who seemed to have saw it coming. Charlie on the other hand slightly smiled, his face red.

"A child... wow. Congratulations to both of you." Bea said with enthusiasm. How interesting, she never thought her brother would be a father so early but now he was going to be one at the age of 27 ... young but not abnormal.

The two excused themselves as they went to look for Arthur and Bridgette Fontaine. Hopefully they would be excited about having a grandchild but knowing her father, he would complain that he was going to be a grandfather too early.

"Somehow I saw that coming, " Bea said quietly as she leaned into Nikolai, "They're lucky ... must be surprisingly yet wonderful. A special little wedding gift."

She glanced up at him through her vibrant sapphire blue eyes, not speaking but communicating through silence. As if to ask the question, Would our future be like that too? Will we be bliss fully happy too?

Really. Really. Really, everything was going so perfectly. The moment was picturesque, the timing was phenomenal. Right after Beatrice had so finely confessed her love, Nikolai captured her lips within his and gave her the long awaited reunion kiss. It was passionate, to say in the least. The amount of feelings put forth into their connecting lips could not be described with mere words such as "sensual" or "heart-warming". He was putting every ounce of his being, his love, into their bittersweet meeting. "I love you, and I am in love with you" he whispered into her ear after they finally parted. Bea clung onto Nikolai, squeezing her arms around his bear-sized body. He was so happy, so so so happy. The man pulled back from their hug, and interlaced their fingers into a love-knot. Finally, they were together again. "We," he spoke, his eyes grazing over her lit-up face, "have a lot of catching up to do."

- 6 months skip-

Nikolai got a call on his cell-phone around two in the morning. At first, he thought his alarm clock was malfunctioning and slammed his fist down repeatedly When the annoying ringing ceased to stop, he lazily picked his head off the warm pillow and hissed in annoyance. On the end table, where his poor clock sat, his phone was having a spasm attack. The ringing and vibrating stopped shortly after Nikolai plucked the thing off the oak wood, which pissed off the tired male. He was about to set it 'gently' back down when it began to ring again. Charlie's name flashed on the touchscreen causing Nikolai to believe this was an April's fool joke; as it was the first of the month. Nevertheless, Nikolai picked it up.

Next to him, the previously sleeping Bea stirred to life. "Wut," Nikolai said softly in a slurred speech. He was still half-asleep. Charlie's voice, however, snapped him completely into full-alert.

"It's Vera!" His voice was panic-stricken, almost helpless. Nikolai flipped the sheets off him and sprang up, looking for his pants and a coat. He knew right away what was happening. "I'll meet you there." He slipped his phone into his jacket pocked and went around the room to Beatrice's side of the bed. "Bea, love, wake up," Nikolai gently shook her body. Her vibrant eyes flickered open, staring at him quizzically.

"It's my sister, she's in labor."

Beatrice eyes widened and nodded as she forced herself to get up. She thew on anything she could find and quickly brushed her hair and teeth. Grabbing two bottles of water and some fruits, she waited for Nikolai to start driving.

Once they arrived, the two quickly dashed inside to the hospital. They made their way up to Vera's room. Bea found Charlie as pale as a bed sheet, apparently too scared to enter the room. Bea rolled her eyes as she dropped off the food in both of the guy's hands. Going inside without an ounce of care, she watched as the two stayed behind.

Bea found Vera in laborous screams as she seemed a bit more relieved now that Bea was besides her. Bea took her hand and told her to fight the pain. Vera struggled to nod and smile but continued to yell out loud. Eventually both Nikolai and Charlie appeared for support. Vera seemed to be at her best when Charlie was besides her though. Bea and Nikolai stood aside for comfort as well. Within another seven hours, the baby was finally born.

A beautiful son with Charlie's and Bea's golden hair was born. However he had the dark alluring eyes of Vera and Nikolai. He looked like a little angel. Vera and Charlie seemed overjoyed now that their little miracle was in their arms. Bea smiled as she held her nephew in her arms. He was so tiny and delicate. Nikolai seemed quite happy as well. Charlie had eventually phoned both their mother and father, their father (arthur) announced that he was going to come to see his grandson some time soon.

As Bea left Vera, Charlie and their son alone, she sat and yawned.
