1. How do I start?
Well you introduce your character, who they are, what they are doing and a general overall of why. Then have them interact with your character. Say your Wizard saves the other's life from an oncoming fireball or makes a funny remark and then they are pushed into a situation.
For a more specific answer for Shadow Heart, your wizard could approach Dorose noticing he was one of the few not running away and getting him to attack the monsters or make him run with you.
