It was a bright and windy day in Apollo's Rest, and the air was replete with the sound of countless footsteps, of the sqeak of wheels and rumble of engines, the faint hissing of steam, the chitchat of people passing, and the silent weight of anticipation that hung on to everyone in the City-State. To John Caine, famed Dragon-Hunter and Captain of the Dragon Hunting Vessel "Beowulf", this weight was like a firm hand on his shoulders, reassuring and hyping him up for the next death defying hunt. He sat on a large crate, fiddling with his personal rifle, a veritable cannon which consumed large, customized rounds and in turn spat them back out with enough unbridled power to punch through solid steel at close enough ranges.
Enki was at his back, sitting on the opposite side of the crate. Enki was the Fist Mate aboard the Beowulf, and a "proffessional masked stranger" as John had once said. Indeed, Enki was a bit of an enigma. He spoke little and when he did, he spoke softly. He often shadowed John closely, at first to hos captain's chaugrin but after the third or fourth time his life was saved by Enki's intution, and Caine had, of course, stopped minding. Enki also had never shown anyone so much as an inch of his skin, covering himself in layers of an expensive gauze-like material and looking out to the world through a tinted lense over his right eye. As for performance, Enki could fight with near unmatched ferocity and startling brute strength for his thin appearance.

The two were unlikely friends, but they were inseperable, and a damn good team. Together, they ran the DHV Beowulf and set out all over the world, slaying Dragons and meeting new crew members along the way, hoping usher in a new age of Dragon Hunting by bringing out the best hunters the world had to offer, and eventually slay the black dragon Daggerfoot, who had haunted John and Enki since before their debut.

The two sat back to back, as a small crowd had begin to gather about the docks below. With a crooked smile, John spoke.
"Ah, Enki, our fresh crew is here, you ain't gonna scare them this time are ya?"

Enki responded a predictable fashion, shifting where he sat and coughing a small cough. John gave him the benefit of the doubt, ascribing his own meaning to the gesture.

"No promises eh?"

He chuckled, and started to head down through the deck of the Beowulf, past the various inner rooms within, and finally out the side hatch to stand upon the now extending bridge-ramp, as if the Beowulf herself was presenting him to who would be his new crew. He pulled the list of approved and newly hired crew members out his pocket, and cleared his throat.
"Please step aboard as I call your name, welcome aboard!"

Their first target would be a dragon named Razorback, a firedrake dangerously up North, where Dragon-Worshiping Raiders would almost certainly try to blow them all out of the sky. John smiled a crooked smile as he visualized it, the rush of footsteps, the screech of wheels, the savage roar of the engines, the sharp hiss of shooting steam, and the shouting and cheering of crewmates in combat with a beast so fearsome as a dragon...

Enki leaned over the railing of the ship to survey the new crewmembers below. He tilted his head to adjust a piece of gauze just a little too tight on his neck and wondered how they'd fare. He decided to head back to the armory and double check his gear. After all, it was best to be ready for anything.

Hello and thank you for checking this out!
I'm thinking I'm gonna try anpther reboot of this RP, so I thought I'd write a little thing there..

This is a Steampunk setting revolving around the proffession of dragon hunting, in which brave souls climb aboard airships to fight dragons in the sky then finish them off on the ground, the reason they do so is because various parts of the dragon have strange properties unlike any other sunstance on the planet, and with the arrival of victorian-era technology, it became far less difficult to hunt these mysterious apex predators, and by harnessing the mysterious properties of their oil, salts, membranes, bones, ect., the industrial revolution turned a central city-state known as Doxa into a worldwide empire and technological giant, and created a permanant and lucrative market for the corpses of dragons. John Caine and Enki are among the more famous individuals pitting their steel against these beasts, and are currently looking into a crew of freh faces to forge into professional hunters.

But what are Dragons?
In this setting, Dragons are a mysterious classification of animal and all part of a single extremely diverse species. They begin life as eggs, hatch as limbless wyrms, then grow two legs and become a lindworm. From there, they either grow two wings and become a wyvern, or grow two more legs and become a salamander. Then they grow their missing legs or wings and become a four legged, two winged drake. After that, they simply repeat a cycle of shedding their skin to adapt to changes in the environment.
There are three elemental salts found within Dragons that allow them their mysterious abilities. All Dragons contain all three with a heavy surplus of one, which determines it's "powers". These salts include fire, lightning, and ice and many inventors have found ways to integrate these salts into machinery to harness their power for everyday use. Other than that, whole bodies are saturayed with mysterious oils that defy the laws of weight and durability, and thus are used in countless construction projects and machinery.
Dragons themselves are somewhat intelligent creatures, capable of solving simple problems and other such things, though they are but notoriously solitary and territorial, thus impossible to reliably tame.

The Doxan Empire:
The Doxan Empire, set upon the continent of Teramagos, is an Imperial state centered around the central City-State of Doxa, which had been the first city state to have it's industrial revolution boosted by the introduction of draconic materials. As a result, it was able to establish itself, by influence or by military might, as the seat of the world. The sheer cultural reverance for the act of Dragon Hunting is a theme utilized to unite the people towards common ideals and heroes in one of many various attempts to keep the empire unified under it's own weight. It is ruled by an Emperor elected from one of the recognized noble families, a council of elegible nobles, and a council of elected officials of equal size and powerr to the noble council. Other city states may govern themselves as they see fit, as long as they meet the demands of the Empire.

Thank you for reading this, questions and suggestions are appreciated and encouraged, I got more lore I can put down if any of you want it.
