[BCOLOR=transparent]The year is 21XX. A year full of technological advancements, yet one of stagnation. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Cyberspace, a world separate from our own, yet very much entwined; a refuge amongst servers and code. A free place for many to spend their oft hour or so relaxing without care. A regulated place to do business and hold meetings with others. Though, the sensations of this place feel to be but a cheap mockery of that of the real world, not that many mind. The limits of Cyberspace are only constrained by your own limits of imagination… and that of your hardware.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Formerly, Cyberspace was accessed through pods -- or for those of even poorer circumstance, headsets -- connected to that of their rig. A rig -- while able to project the human conscience into Cyberspace, and relay relevant feedback to the user -- holds many a system to help navigate, to help shape, the cyberspace around them. Among those who held a gamer's mindset, this naturally developed into a system for fun and competition. Those who possessed the knowhow made and furthered the development of these tools: Programs. These processes helped in wearing down an opponent's virtual body until they were dejected from the system, now recognized as a virus.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Only twenty-five years ago did the technologically innovative company Nyaam introduce a Cyberspace revolutionary hardware: the Operating System Eon. Wetware; technology unable to be used by the older population, but able to be implanted among those of only a year from birth. Many were unsure how this technology would function among the younger generation, and are only now learning how much of an assistance it is from firsthand accounts of its users. Still, as with any new technology, it has its detractors, but there are now plans for widespread implementation.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Soon, the Great Flood will be upon humanity; please, Don't Drown.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Programs:[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Executables: These are the damaging type of Program, from conjuring fire, to freezing over the water around the user. These are generally one off effects, with anything persistent being more of a by-product.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Widgets: Designer creatures with rudimentary AI implemented within. Most users have a menagerie they've either bought or designed themselves which can fulfill a multitude of roles, but not as greatly as a user with relevant Programs.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Overclocked: Not Programs, per se, but a singular "Program" which enhances the user's physical abilities. The Overclocked uncap their abilities at increments of 10%, up to 100%, each increment indicating a physical ability pushed past its norm. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Hacks: Alterations, harmful or cosmetic, put into another user's system. They differ from executables by having no function within a system itself, and affecting another user's system directly. Harmful ones are considered foul play by most of the Cyberspace community since powerful hacks can outright delete a virtual body.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Processes: The "buffers" of the bunch. Before Overclocking became possible, most feats beyond the physically capable were caused by these users. A user can normally host two or three of these processes at any given time, and they don't have to be on their own target, either.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Antivirals: Healers, removing viruses (damage) from a user's virtual body they may even, at higher levels of play, remove hacks and restore another user's virtual body. They are a boring group of Programs, by themselves, but are valued highly on a team. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Search Engine: Often called "Engines" for simplicity's sake, they are "mimes" of a sort. They are able to copy any Program they've been hit with, but only within a given session. The trade off is that these powers tend to be weaker, and cause the user's system to overheat more rapidly.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Additional Setting Info:[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]-Flying cars exist, they have, however, been proven very inefficient and most "automobiles" use a magnetic, hovering technology instead.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]-Cellphones are still a thing, though their shapes and sizes are largely up to the user's preference anymore. Most use a touchscreen still.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]-WW3 has happened, though nobody launched a nuke. It happened due to the US dissolving, and the various alliances that formed from that fallout. Though that is long past, politics have been strained between the the Former States of America.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]-Robots, and rudimentary AI have been created, though none of it is considered "human-like". Robots can often be found doing the work that nobody wants to do, though near universal labor laws have prevented them from completely displacing humans.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]-Most "modern" homes are outfitted with a voice controlled system to adjust room atmosphere; ie. lighting, heating. Some more advanced homes contain options to adjust the wallpaper, though furniture rearranging is still rather far afield.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]-Our primary setting is the city of Buoy; a completely self-sufficient "island" of sorts located smack dab in the middle of the Atlantic. It is considered a separate entity from pre-established political bodies, but is a part of the "Arcolodge Union"; similar cities and islands banded together as to not be bullied by larger powers.[/BCOLOR]
-We will officially start at the twenty five year mark since Eon's invention and implementation.
-The device officially unlocks on the user's thirteenth birthday. As such, characters will be aged somewhere between 13 and 15.
~(Further additional setting info is available, all you have to do is ask!)

Some Clarifications That Have Been Needed:
-There is no such thing as "alt accounts" within the confines of cyberspace. One account which can be masked -- or altered with proper knowhow -- if wanted, but such information can also be revealed.
-There is still a rudimentary form of internet available, separate but intermingled from cyberspace. It can be accessed from phones, headsets, etc. (Holographic displays optional.)

Hello all! I am Voltin/Volt/Zappy, and this, obviously enough, is my Interest Check. This is a cyberpunk RP where your characters are the users of the revolutionary Nyaam tech. It will be an adventure discovering the implications of this new device, as well as some of the shadier elements which are hidden within the cracks of an otherwise picturesque setting. Any takers?
