Main Concept: Each character has committed a crime (or multiple) so unspeakable that the United Nations has agreed to form a specialized prison located in outer space. This prison is called Hagur-343. Any soul unfortunate enough to be shipped there can kiss their final shreds of humanity goodbye. Once you're bound to Hagur-343, you're sentenced to a life of bloodshed and cunning for the entertainment of Earth's wealthiest spectators.

Each year, the ship holds a tournament and prisoners are pinned against one another in teams. This event is dubbed Dog Fights. The name was inspired by guards and staff referring to the inmates as dogs. You are put through three rounds of combat, each held in a unique terrain with varying weapons at your disposal. The incentive for joining this event is heavy; the winner's sentence length is lowered by 10 years or, if they wish, they can pass this reward onto a different inmate.

However, do not be fooled. Dog Fights are not simply a battle of brutality and strength. You will need cunning, manipulation, deceit, and extensive planning, as there is no telling when the tables could turn.

Two teams are plucked from each Seniority Level (SL) on the Hagur-343, in which there are three: Newbies as the bottom level (Pups), inmates who have been imprisoned between 10-24 years (Hounds), and the top level, inmates who have been on board for 25 plus years (Mutts). This makes for a set of five teams, with three people on each. A total of 15 tributes.

Prison Life: Each inmate abides by a strict schedule assigned to them as soon as they're placed in the roster. Upon boarding the Hagur-343, a barcode is branded onto your right shoulder blade, each one notified by scanners placed throughout the ship. This is what allows inmates access into certain areas, identifies them by name and SL, and tracks their movement at all times. Officially, this barcode is termed a Tracker, but inmates call it The Leash. Whenever one acquires a branding, they dub the process as being leashed.

As for the schedule, each inmate follows the set of blocks as followed:

  • 6 - 6:45 AM | Breakfast Hall
  • 6:50 - 8:45 AM | Work for A and C Period, Education for B and D Period
  • 9 AM - Noon | Cell Lockup
  • 12:30 - 1:15 PM | Lunch
  • 1:30 - 3:25 PM | Work for B and D Period, Education for A and C Period
  • 3:30 - 4:45 PM | Free Period
  • 5 - 8 PM | Dog Fights
  • 8:15 - 9:30 PM | Dinner
  • 9:30 - 10:30 PM | Group Reflections
  • 11 PM | Lights Out

Each inmate must choose one Work Period and one Education Period from the following list:

Work
Welding
Laundry
Sanitation
Cargo Loading
Corpse Dispensary

Education
Painting & Crafts
English & Journalism
Communication Skills
Social Etiquette
General Math & Sciences

Along with a Work Period, inmates have the option of signing up for Assistantships. Prisoners refer to it as being a Lapdog. Appealing to the Guidance Warden (Romana Bellamy) may land you a position and if you are devoted to your duties, there is a possibility of shortening your sentence. However, this method is highly unpopular, as inmates view the jobs as demeaning and believe it takes too long to shorten a sentence this way. Winning the Dog Fights is a much faster solution.

If you do earn a Lapdog spot, practice caution, as it will put you in a deadly spotlight, especially in the eyes of Hounds and Mutts.

Each inmate has the option of having (or asking for) one of the following Assistantships:

  • Cafeteria Duty (Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner Period)
  • Co-Guidance Counselor (Reserved for Hounds & Mutts)
  • Teaching Assistant (English, Painting & Crafts, or General Math & Sciences)
  • Courtyard Jr Marshal (Reserved for Hounds & Mutts)
  • Gym Upkeep
  • Group Reflection Leader (Four Open Slots)
  • Therapist's Secretary

During Free Time, inmates have a handful of activates they can participate in. Prisoners interact however they wish during this time, but are prohibited from entering certain areas of the ship and must behave civilly. The following is the list of available activities:

  • Cards/Board Games (Chess, Checkers, Uno, Battleships, and Connect Four)
  • Gym
  • Basketball (Interior Courtyard)
  • Lounge Room (Accompanied with a TV, seats, and coffee machine)
  • Phone Calls (Limited to one phone call a day)
  • Library
  • Walk In or Scheduled Appointment with Therapist (Damien Nettles)
  • Back to Cell

Every prisoner is assigned a Cell Mate. These pairings will be decided by the GM.
Each inmate is given the following prison uniform:

Of course, Hagur-343 has a few means of punishment for prisoners that step out of line. There are three; in order from most lenient to harshest, are the Dog House, the Cage, and getting Put Down.

The Dog House is a tiny and stifling concrete room. No windows, no bed, and you're down to one meal a day, which is scraped up from cold leftovers. The inmate remains in this chamber for three days or until they break. Their progress/spiral is monitored by Damien Nettles and a few guards. This punishment is given on the account of a prisoner's first offense or minor rebellion.

A worse punishment is the Cage. In the belly of the Hagur-343 are five cylindrical pods, six feet in width and ten feet in height. The walls are made of a sleek metal alloy, constantly cold to the touch. A speaker and several openings line the walls, though they're impossible to see because they are hidden behind circular slabs. Through the speaker, a single individual speaks to them--taunting, prodding questions, anything to make the prisoner crack. This individual also controls the openings, which they use to blast the inmate with CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) gas, which is extremely cold and highly pressurized, but non-fatal in short bursts. Each blasting is followed by a decontaminating shower. The process repeats.

The individual responsible for administering this torture is Ann-Marie Biles.
Finally, the worst treatment of all is the Put Down. This is reserved for extreme cases and inmates who are beyond reconcile for their actions. On the tail end of the Hagur-343 is the Corpse Dispensary, where dead bodies are cremated and their ashes are ejected into space. The inmate will experience the same fate, though they are shown mercy and given the option to be killed beforehand to avoid enduring the pain. Again, this death sentence is a rare last resort and looked down upon by many in the staff.

Dog Fights: The rules of the Dog Fights are as follows - The tournament is composed of one round per day for three consecutive days.

For day/round one, the teams are pinned against one another in different terrains. These terrains are isolated from one another, but all within the same Arena. Thus, Section (A)lpha would hold teams 1 & 2, Section (B)eta would hold teams 3 & 4, and Section (C)anine would hold teams 5 & 6.

In order to win, you must eliminate all three members of the opposing team. There are two ways to eliminate a member:

  • Each of you will be given a Tick, a handheld device that can be clamped onto the back of a member's vest, an armor that you are permitted to wear for the entirety of the game. Removing the vest equates to eliminating yourself from the round. Once the Tick is placed onto your vest, you are considered eliminated.

  • The second option is simple--kill the opposing member.

The second day (round) of Dog Fights will only host three teams. Working together with your teammates (or teammate, depending on if one or more was killed in the previous round), you will be placed on the perimeter of the terrain in triangle formation. Your objective is to reach the center point of the terrain and obtain the Golden Collar. The first player to secure it around their neck wins the round for their team.

However, reaching the Golden Collar will not be easy. Checkpoints are placed upon the terrain in rings of equal distance from one another. Once you cross that boundary, the trial will be activated within your immediate area. Some will be challenging. Some will be deadly.

At the end of the round, the team holding a member located the furthest away from the Golden Collar are eliminated.

Furthermore, the team which obtains the Golden Collar will gain an Advantage for the final round. This Advantage is not revealed until the next day at the beginning of the third round.

Day three of the Dog Fights entails a Free for All set in the Arena. The last team standing is the official winner of Dog Fights, while the losing team is incapable of participating in next year's tournament. However, they are able to participate the year after.
