Personality: Sharlto is very much a people person; he knows how to come across as a friendly, outgoing individual to just about anyone. He's also a damn good con-man, capable of passing himself off as just about anyone he feels the need to. Whilst he does possess a moral code, it's one that's fairly open to interpretation; he has no time for idiots, and will happily scam such people for all they're worth, yet he also refuses to harm, or pull a con that will harm, children and such other innocents.
In short, he's a douchebag, but he's not evil.
History: Sharlto and the Doctor have an... interesting relationship. On several occasions the two have found themselves fighting alongside shared enemies, but quite often they find themselves at odds with each other due to Sharlto's activities throughout time.
Born on a colony ship in the 51st century, Sharlto lost his parents early on to the thugs and criminals who held control of the lower levels. Left to fend for himself, he quickly learned how to play and fool others into doing what he wanted, a talent he has only built upon since.
Working and screwing over criminal groups across the ship, Sharlto finally left the ship with enough cash to get by at the age of 18. He's travelled the galaxy since, making a living as a confidence man. He's managed to con a Vortex-Manipulation Device from a crime boss, which has allowed him to take his con jobs across time as well as space.
Other Notes: Vortex-Manipulator – Sharlto's method of time travel, stolen from a 51st Century Time Agent. It's a messy method of travelling time, and allows for only short temporal jumps.
51st Century Pistol – A weapon used for defensive purposes by Sharlto, from the 51st Century. It's not a laser weapon, but fires powerful shells that can really mess with armour and other such defences from early centuries. Sharlto, however, is very aware of the dangers of using such technology in earlier times, and so only tends to use it as a last resort.
