Reynauld Courtright

A mighty sword arm anchored by holy purpose, a zealous warrior.
"I swear my life to the meek and defenseless, so that they have a chance to be strong"

GENERAL

Name: Reynauld Courtright
Pronunciation: Rae-Nuhld Kurt-rite
Nickname: Rey, Good ol' Reynauld
Titles: Knight, Sir.
Species: Human
Race: Human
Date of Birth: Icemelt, Monthe 1
Zodiac: Golem
Age: 46
Place of Birth: Desmouthe

Storyline/Plot: Roses and Stars

"Although the raw strength of my youth may be spent, my eyes hold the secrets to a hundred campaigns."

APPEARANCE

Eye Color: Dark Brown
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Hair Style/Length: Shaggy. It ends in a beard.
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 193 lbs.
Body Type: Lean and covered in a healthy layer of fat, as one would expect of a man past his prime.

Body Modifications/Accessories: An array of scars, painted liberally on his body. Those on his back belong exclusively to his own handiwork, with the exception of a few.

Written Appearance: Looking at Reynauld, one could see many similarities drawn between him and a wolfhound. From the thick "fur" on his face and welcoming appearance to the savagery with which he ends his "hunts". Solitary strands of hair adorn his mane and beard, spread out evenly across.

Other parts of his body are also covered in "fur". While not much rests on his torso, in the dark, one could confuse Reynauld with a Lecyrian elf, provided he was scantily clad.
His face presents a bushy beard and a scar over his nose along with deep ridges, sculpted by time.

PERSONALITY

Personality Traits:
Man of Faith: Reynauld believes that his faith is what fuels both his mind and his body. He is convinced that he was allowed to succeed in his life because of it and although not often, he won't hesitate to share it with others.

Fatherly: As the proud father of two daughters and a son, it is no surprise that Reynauld will often seem condescending or excitedly willing to give advice and help people. Often, his "victims" include people younger than himself. He means no harm.

Protective: As the Code of Chivalry dictates, Reynauld is to always protect the weak and defenseless. Sometimes, though, he might become a little overzealous and extend his promise to those capable and strong as well.

Proactive: Reynauld will likely be one of the first to take initiative when faced with obstacles.

Strengths:

Experienced: One could say Reynauld has a master's studies degree in war and years of experience on the battlefield. His resume is rather lengthy.

Disciplined: In a lot of senses, Reynauld is very disciplined and faithfully reproduces what the Code of Chivalry taught him.

Stalwart: Loyal, reliable, unrelenting. Reynauld has the backs of those whom he trusts and those who trust him.

Weaknesses:
Uncreative: Reynauld is not one for creative problem-solving. His choices in certain situations are quite limited.

Past his prime: Reynauld has passed the first half of his presumed life. Average humans live upwards of 60 years, and he is getting close to 50. Sometimes his back might hurt, other times he may forget things.

Traditional: His mindset hails from the past, leaving little adaptability to the more modern ways of conduct.

Quirks:
-Flagellant: Reynauld knows his Discipline well enough. Shall he deem himself not focused enough, he will remind himself through mortifying of the flesh.

-When thinking, Reynauld will often rub his beard sagely

HISTORY

Rays of light seeped through the fabrics covering the windows. At the break of dawn, Reynauld's first screams were heard. They soon overtook the ones belonging to his mother. He came into the world with force. He was larger and heavier than an average newborn. His mother was the first to notice.

Reynauld was quite an enthusiastic boy in his early years, trying to replicate his knightly behavior in hopes of retaining some of his might. When the first whiskers invaded his face he became a squire to his father's best friend. The coming years would prove to be difficult as the knight he was assigned to did not hold back just because he knew Reynauld. He would learn what it meant to be a knight. The process was long and arduous and, most importantly, successful. He had gone through rigorous training and he had seen Light. By the time he was finished, Reynauld was no longer a boy, but a righteous dispenser of divine wrath. The coming years would dull his violent impulses and exact from him a sager attitude. Furthermore, the pursuit of lifelong companionship forces a beast to learn new tricks, ones of courtship and flirtation. After marital arrangements, Reynauld gave a promise to his spouse; that he would make an effort to be tamer as time went on.

Not too long after, his recklessness subsided as he had gained more than he would allow himself to lose. His strategies were handled more with care than with force alone. The fire of battle still burns within Reynauld, even more so now that he has a family to keep safe.

WRITING SAMPLE

He lunged forward, alligning his blade in such a way that the sword's point cut through the thick air like an arrow. Quickly, the knight pushed the weapon in front of him. Vibrant and reflective, the steel tasted blood once more and the enemy was fell. With great effort, the bleeding man grabbed Reynauld's sword with both hands, but the knight recoiled and extracted the blade from his opponent's chest.

The prodigious weapon was bathed in thick, crimson liquid. Reynauld swiped at the ground and painted the mud with blood before turning towards the clashing of steel behind him. He paid little mind to the man he left in a pool of his own blood. Such is the battlefield, a cacophony of yelps and cries, drowned out by the sounds of metal and explosions.

Hidden behind the cold glare of steel was a look of determination. Reynauld was approaching with hastened pace, his guard up and spirits high. He struck with the speed of lightning and the might of Thunder, but his blade was met with another and was forced to the side. He quickly pushed the hilt of his blade forward and followed with a step of his own. Reynauld then quickly pulled down and caught the enemy's blade with his sword's guard. He capitalized on the opponent's surprise with a succession of well-placed hits handed out ever so generously by his forearm. Taken back by the zealous bushes, the enemy stepped away from Reynauld. A mistake, by all means, as his weapon forfeited from his weakened grip.

The knight drew blood yet again. A well placed cut between the jaw and neck spelled the thug's doom.

Brutal is an outlaw's end.
