  1. In the future, great technological devices and contraptions have continued to surprise mankind, but none got them better then the Digitizer! Featuring the ability to transport human sentience into digital programs, like video games, the Digitizer has opened for a new era of human life.

...And entertainment. As development of the Digitizer continued, TV companies saw it as an excellent opportunity as the next generation of reality series: Digital Reality Shows! Exclusive to most wealthy subscribers, the shows put specially selected people into often dangerous and scary games, for the viewer's entertainment.

One of these people are you, and only equipped with gear to communicate with show hosts, you brave out in an unknown digital world, in the quest to bring enjoyment to whoever's watching. Surviving is a bonus.

  2. Pushed around. That's about all Hugo's been ever since he met up outside the requested building. Through hallways, in doors, around crowds, before finally arriving in a dark room. Everything about it was dark. The walls were black, all objects in it were black, all the people were dressed in black. The only light in the room was from various computer screens, in front of which several people sat, thoroughly busy. "Right in there, Mr. Rowland." The man mainly in charge of pushing him this far, pointed to a barely visible door on a wall. Opening it up, it sealed tight after for the last time pushing Hugo there. In the complete darkness that was the room, only a headset on a small, slightly illuminated pillow was visible.

A familiar logo with corresponding and annoying, yet catchy jingle played on massive TV-screens and through speaker systems all over the world. The female trio singing the jingle was, to the fanbases' great irritance, dubbed after the main language in the country it was played in. Not that English wasn't present in over haf of them.

The logo panned off, and over to a scene, rather small and framed by vibrant yellow walls, viewed live by hundreds of people. Only those with the fattest wallet, of course. On stage stood a man. But he wasn't going to perform, just introduce. His face covered in a slapped-on smile, it was wrinkly, assumably from all the forced smiling he'd done. "Heeeelloooo, everybody!" Extending his introductions had according to close research done in seasons eight and nine, improved viewer numbers by at least 2.7 %. "Welcome back to..." Here he expectantly awaited the response of the crowd, both those watching live, and those using a TV. And truly, the choir of a billion voices yelling "THE DIGITIZER" was almost inevitably heard from any part of the world.

The man's glittery orange suit reflected the flood lighting from several flashlights onto everything, making him look like a human disco ball. "Can we get a round of applause for our newest contestant, HUGO ROWLAND!" Again all watching, being die-hard fans of the show, yelled and cheered, from whoever was to be the contestant this time. Funnily enough, the show wasn't to happen on the stage, a large screen lowered from somewhere above, tuning into the game Hugo was to be sent into. "Now, in store for him, we have a classic family favourite! Of course contamined with a little chaos. The rules for the show are as ever! A person's physical skills are averaged with that of the regular game character, and do they get a Game over in-game, they lose this life as well!" No one seemed to react anything other than positively to the death comment, over the years it had just become a regular part of the show. "Once the player correctly guesses the game, and completes a major objective, like a boss battle, or a highly classified mission, they leave the game. So, are you all ready to GO IN THE GAME?!" Yet again the crowd cheered, seemingly louder every time.
