Survivor's words
The world has gone to shit after the last world war waged. Cities, towns, everything all around the world; gone. Humanity is none existent; if it ever even was present when the world was together. Talking as a survivor of that horrendous war, I can tell you that it by far was the worst this world has ever seen. Governments set fire to their own cities after a virus, an unspeakable virus that started out with just cramps and muscle aches, but slowly progressed up the brain~stem which caused seizures of sorts to the Amygdala, the area of the brain that controls emotions. From there, it began to drive the victim mad. Once it had hit the Amygdala, it spread to the Lateral Orbitofrontal, the part of the brain that controlled social responses and emotional response. This caused them to start attacking anyone for even the smallest infractions.
Nobody is sure who exactly it was that set loose this terrible disease, but one thing is for certain, nobody who cooked it up is still alive, if they are they are one of those things. Don't call them zombies; they still know who they are. They aren't dead and rotting, but dying and attacking. Haven't resorted to cannibalism, not to my knowledge anyways. But they will kill those they feel are a threat; and by their reasoning anyone who isn't infected is.
So here I am; alone but safe. For now. I was part of a group a long time ago, but after the leader was infected everything went downhill fast. Members started to attack one another, sad part is that only one of them was infected. All the others just started killing each other out of panic. I was the only one with the sense to run; better to be alone and struggle than together and dead.
I spend days after the outbreak trying to gather supplies. But you would believe the panic, what it does to people. Stay away from shopping marts or markets; they were the first along with the shelters and hospitals to go. I haven't even touched base with the other danger we face now than just the Zomboni Virus victims; we are still at war. The military has still been fighting other nations, and attacking its own. We face total annihilation; we must run from not only crazed disease ridden humans and humans who act like they have it...who were supposed to protect us.
One thing is for certain; it is far easier to survive in a group than it is alone. Alone you have nobody to watch your back as you sleep, nobody to help you gather food, or anything. In a group, you are at least safer to survive a night. There are downsides obviously, but it is far better to have your ass covered.
How will we ever survive? Very few are immune to this only by airborne, water and other elements make it easy to catch, that's why we have to be so careful.

There are rules of the road; rules that should never be disobeyed. Disobey and you normally don't last the night. Obey these, and you might just live another day.
Don't go out alone; not unless you know exactly what you are doing but even then don't.
Don't be a hero; you'll die faster and everyone will regard you as an asshole. There are no more heroes in this world; just people trying to survive.
People die; good people. Leave the dead.
Don't go out after dark.
If you get bit, you leave. If you show symptoms, you are quarantined from the group, if you are infected you have a choice of exile or death.
Time of Epidemic: Just began three months ago
Starter City: Cleveland, Ohio
Year: 2015 (virus struck exactly January 4, 2015. It is just the start of April)
Rules of the Rp
1. Two characters per person unless you play an NPC, but they cannot save you in a fix
2. Your character can catch the virus, so play your cards well
3. I hold the right to kick you from the roleplay if you disobey the rules or mistreat other players
4. Refer to the Roleplay Institute if ever you need aid with a post, there are many mentors there
5. Abide by not just Iwaku rules but basic roleplay rules (meta gaming, etc)
6. Everyone gets their first post in before you do back and forth, and do not leave anyone behind in the roleplay
7. No one liners but do not judge someone on their post length; quality over quantity. One paragraph that is meaningful trumps three paragraphs full of just backstory or a hard response
8. I want character development; your character isn't going to be the strong person or a set role the start of the roleplay. If your character starts out an asshole but you intend to turn him into a good guy, he won't just wake up one morning and decide to stop acting like an asshole he has to develop that trait.
9. Keep it realistic; only those who were trained before the outbreak how to handle a weapon, chances are they will be able to handle themselves. But if you were a waiter, you might not know how to aim a gun
10. No anime pictures
11. pets can happen but you have to find food for them or they become food
12. No sexual themes, romance is alright but absolutely no sexual posts (please not even in the spoilers)
13. Only a select few are immune to airborne; that few would be you (unless you don't want to have that quality)
(may add more)
Keep in mind that this will have just started, there is no leader yet and no roles set. Some of your characters might be travelling with one another while others either find you or you find them. We are in the beginning stages of the world's desolation.
