Another day in this dreadful place. Blankets of warmth pried off Anastasia, a loud voice disrupting the peace Anastasia had grown fond of. Another morning of abuse, torture, and mind-fucking. Another day in hell. It's almost become a job working here, a jb where you don't get paid for breaking your back.

Eyes shot open, dilating at the site of guards forcing Anastasia up. Looking at the men with dead in her eyes, she didn't see the need to fight these men. So, her body laid lifeless, allowing the guards to make the movements for her. Forcing her up, forcing her to walk, and forcing her to sit against the wall as the guards checked her bed for any hidden weapons Anastasia might've made in the night.

This was a regular thing. Something Anastasia has grown use to, a routine. Though odd, it started the day off just right in the hell-bound place. Eyes looked down when the guards flashed Anastasia a glare. A thousand daggers shooting through the woman's heart. How dangerous these people were, and through that glare. It only reminded her of the position she was in, and would be in until the day they snapped her neck.

The guard smirked, forcing the woman to look back up. "Don't be so gloomy. You get to socialize this morning. Ain't that perfect, but don't get used to it." As much as Anastasia liked to socialize, she never got to stay friends with the other inmates. Once they talk, they never see each other again.

However, Anastasia has made it her mission to get to someone. Someone she could trust would be clever enough, as well as strong enough, to help her escape this facility once and for all. It was going to be hard, hell, it's been hard. Every person she has come across don't know a darn place about this facility. Only that the guards were dangerous, and they were to keep their mouths shut.

Anastasia seek'd someone as determined, and brave, as her to get out of here. Today might be the lucky day though. Looking around would be the only way to find out-

Released from her cell, she was moved to the court yard heavily monitored. It was nice to smell the fresh morning air. A small smile forming on Anastasia's lips as she took in a deep breath. It smelt sweet, welcoming...and most of all Anastasia felt at ease for once. Her sanity regained just out in the sunshine!

"On your feet, number 131," a gravelly voice demanded.

Bright florescent lights illuminated the small sterile concrete cell, casting light on a figure sleeping on a cot, obscured by a thin scratchy blanket. Despite the voice calling out to them from the opened door, the figure didn't move. A few tense seconds passed before the armed guard in the doorway spoke up again, this time more forcefully. "Number 131, up!"

This time, the figure groaned and stretched under the covers before allowing their head to peak out from under the covers. "Hmm, me?"the feminine figure responded, blinking the sleep from her eyes.

The guard rolled his eyes and marched into the room, grabbing the woman by her shoulder and pulling her off of the cot and onto the floor. "Must we do this every morning, 131?"

The woman, Vega, effortlessly pried herself from the ground and into a cross legged position as the second guard moved in to keep an eye on her while his partner searched the cot for any contraband. She appeared unbothered by the act of physical violence. She had grown used to rough contact and wore her various bruises, scrapes, and scars like badges of honor. Each mark proved that despite the odds, she was still very much alive and kicking. Not that she had to prove anything to anyone anymore. This facility was unlike the prison she had spent 4 years in. This one kept the inmates separated near constantly to prevent factions or gangs from forming, maintaining control via isolation.

But isolation wasn't permanent. Sporadically, they were allowed to congregate for short periods of time. But each face Vega was able to see, soon disappeared forever. The shifts constantly rotated so that relations could never be formed, never giving anyone the comfort of routine. However, Vega was clever and by doing a few 'favors' for the guards, she had acquired a watch so that she could tell time in this god awful place. By hiding the watch in the waistband of her paper thin, government issued pants, she could avoid suspicion. But when Vega expectantly patted her hip, she found the watch was not there. It was under her cot.

Just as her eyes widened and her breath caught in her throat, the guard conducting the search pulled the object free from the bed sheets and shot Vega a glare. "What did I tell you about keeping our little trade on the down low? You're lucky I don't take this back and make you work for it again," he growled as he threw the object to the floor. Vega scrambled to pick it up and conceal it, biting her lip hard enough to draw blood. That could have gone bad.

With a low sigh, the guard completed his search and nodded to his partner. "Take her to the yard. I don't want to see her scarred, ugly face anymore"

Vega let the second guard lift her to her feet, not breaking eye contact with the guard who berated her. "You seemed to like my ugly face earlier, officer Johnson."

Officer Johnson's bewildered expression revealed that the inmates weren't normally aware of the names of their captors. This was because they didn't wear badges or any visible form of identification, keeping the subjects in further confusion. Officer Johnson's face grew red and he stumbled over whatever sentence he was trying to say. As Vega was escorted out, she snuck a smirk over her shoulder.

Despite her incessant back talk and nonchalant attitude, Vega was terrified. What went down in this building was nothing like anything she experienced behind bars. In comparison, prison was a cake walk. Because at least in prison you were left to rot, allowed to do with your doomed life whatever you wanted so long as the guards didn't see it. But in here, they were not just serving time. They were being subjected to whatever high risk scientific experiments the government carried out. Testing drugs? Grab one of the poor blokes snatched from a homeless shelter. Want to splice genetics to create a super soldier serum? There are plenty of convicts to fish out from the local prison. Vega had even heard rumors of less mentally or physically sound captives being used as target practice for new weapons. There were no morals here. Only endless white halls and examination rooms.

After what seemed like one too many hallways, Vega was shoved through a door and out into the crisp air outside. The door closed behind her with a thud, leaving her in the yard as the first rays of sunlight began to shine through the wire ceiling above. Vega gave one of the armed guards in the tower a cheeky grin and a loose wave. They remained impassive behind the barrel of their gun. And so Vega turned her attention to the other shadowy figures that were deposited in the yard.

Alright, let's see who we can talk to today. Maybe someone in this shithole knows something worth sharing. And so Vega began to walk, relishing the feeling of cold dirt underneath her bare feet. The first person she came across was a bony older man with pale blue eyes and ashy skin. "Hey there, how's it going?"Vega greeted.

The man said nothing. He just stared off into the distance with dilated pupils. A gash ran across his head, bloodying his wiry grey hair. "Hey uhhh, buddy? You're sorta bleedin' there. Hello?" Vega waved a hand in front of his face. When she snapped her fingers, he didn't even blink.

"Okay then..I'll leave you be then..."Vega mumbled as she slowly stepped away, leaving the strange man to stare into nothingness.

The next face Vega saw was much less intimidating. It was a young woman who looked to be around Vega's age, maybe just a touch younger. She seemed to be enjoying the sunlight, a smile on her lips. "Good morning," Vega greeted as she sidled next to the woman, crossing her arms to put up a casual front.

"我还活着"

So many people in this facility have seen the worst in humanity. Hell, even children became target's for this facility. Some had their brains pried open to experiment on. Other children used simply to allow bullets to pierce their flesh until the children's pleads were silenced by final breaths, innocents fading into taunting, lost souls trapped within the walls of this hell-hole.

Looking at the new face, Anastasia smiled. "Good morning to you too." She said, arms crossing over her chest as eyes moved back to the sky. If only she could sprout wings. The feathers could guide her to freedom, away from piercing eyes. Though, she knew fighting back alone wasn't worth it. Her capabilities though were a secret to her. The amount of damage she could cause to a human body was only talked about between scientist, and kept in files behind closed door in locked cabinets.

Vega didn't even try to mask the fact that she was looking this woman up and down, sizing her up. After being in captivity for so long, she had forgotten most social conventions. She looks kind, thoughtful. Not the type I am looking for to bust out, but perhaps she's the brainier type, I could use one of those. And I think I'd have an easier time with someone like her rather than ol busted head over there. Vega looked back to the older man and saw that he was indeed still staring unblinking into an empty space.

She looked back up at the woman and cocked her head curiously. Then a wild look flashed in her eyes. "You tryin to get out of this dump too?"she whispered. Such words wouldn't be uttered if Vega thought they were being listened to, but this was one of the places where the guards were high above and out of earshot.

"我还活着"

Seeing eyes gaze over her body, the woman didn't know how to feel. Flattered, or weirded out? Whichever the two. Though, after hearing her little question. Anastasia was dumbfounded. Was this woman sizing her up.

Looking down at the girl though, she had to be honest with herself. "I want to escape so bad." She whispered back before strolling over to a bench. She sat there, smiling up at the clouds, acting as if they were having a casual conversation. She even pointed to the sky to pretend like she was talking about either the nice weather or the clouds.

"I've been wanting to escape for so long. I just, I've been too scare." She said, her smile never leaving her face.

Vega wasn't surprised with the girl's answer. After all, no one wanted to be here. But some were more willing to risk escaping than others. It was up to Vega to find out whether or not this woman fit in that category.

She casually followed the woman to the bench, but remained standing, trying to relax her tense muscles to avoid suspicion. As if this were a normal conversation. Vega wordlessly followed the girl's finger to look at the sky, but her mind was not focused on the weather. Glancing down at the girl, she noticed that this woman was very adept at hiding her true emotions. More so than Vega, who still couldn't help but nervously shift her weight from one foot to another. It's not easy to hide your emotions, perhaps this girl is worth her salt.

With her eyes trained on the sky and this woman in her peripheral vision, in a low voice she said, "What if I told you, I know when the perfect time to escape is? With the help of this..."

After scanning the area to make sure no one was looking their way, Vega wordlessly lifted her shirt to reveal the watch peeking out from her waistband. It was covered just as quickly as it was revealed.

The woman continued to listen, eyes though glancing to the left and to the right as guards looked around. Though, as she spoke, it was drowned by a laugh as the woman almost nearly melted from her seat. It was obvious she was hiding any suspicion on her conversation with Vega. When the guard looked away, she sat back up, winding down before looking back at Vega. Eyes watched her lift her shirt for a second, taking a peak at the watch.

A small smirk spread across her face. Though eyes traveled back up at the sky. "You're right, these clouds are beautiful." She said aloud before turning her whole body to face Vega. A soft voice seemed to flare into Vega's head, responding to everything she'd said.

"I know the halls here. I know how to escape. I just can't do it alone. What information do you have? Also, act more natural, you're being too tense. Guards will start suspecting something.." Anastasia tilted her head to the side, eyes narrowing in on her shirt. Was that a watch? If so, she could only imagine what kind of use it'd be for.
