Heaven and Hell have waged war since the very beginning, but the creation of the third kingdom put this war at an armistice until these creatures were ready. These creatures were known as humans and seen as inferior by the other two races. However, something unexpected happened in the later years of the human's existence. New beings began to appear. The first that caught the angels of heaven's attention were the kitsune and their massive life span that far exceeded the original creator's (God) preset. The one that caught the demons of Hell's attention were the arachnae and Lamia. Considered to be horrifying in the human's eyes. For the most part, these were the forms visiting demons took as well. They would disguise themselves to "play" on Earth.
Naturally, there are many subcategories of demons. Such as the succubus who typically call the third circle of Hell (Lust) their home. The same goes for the angels. However, rather than subcategories, they are ranks. Guardians are the starting ranks. They all bow to one person, and that is their god. The god of creation himself. There are only four archangels for the moment, two have fallen. However, that is not to say you couldn't climb the ranks and earn the name of archangel. The same goes in Hell. You could conquer one of the seven circles if you so desire, the world is your sand box! Play as you desire!
Soon after the creation of the archangel of death, he fell saving a human he fell in love with. Her name was Rose, and his was Azrael. Of course, Azrael didn't like having his wings stripped. So while the Heavens slept, the God was assassinated by him, and he stole his wings back but remained in Hell as a cursed incubus. He later conquered the third circle and became the lord of lust. His skills and abilities earned him the name everyone knows him by now. Shadow. He later met the human Rose in a human form he took. He later revealed himself to her, and she still wanted to be with him. They were married and had three children. Cyrus, Desmond, and Rose. Rose was named after her mother who was killed later by Lucifer. The ruler of all of Hell itself. Of course, he wasn't going to stand for this. He knew his children would be next so Shadow hunted and killed him too. He left with a scar across his eye that would forever remind him that he couldn't save his lover.
And now here we stand in the present. With no God to keep things in check, the world is chaos. Only the two remaining archangels proceed to maintain peace. Everyone else roams the Earth among the humans as they please. Occasionally picking fights with the other races for racial reasons. However, the humans were never touched due to their fragility.
With the stage set and Armageddon on the Horizon,
who will you fight for?
