Demi University

Max looked up towards the next few levels, having already heard the noises but feeling so much more, like some kind of energy...a bad one. However, in the next instant, it was gone. Still, she was curious by it and looked back at Tamsin.

"Well...might as well go check it out. What do you say?" she gave the girl a cheeky grin before leading her up the next two flights of stairs, taking her word that she could handle her own.

Max followed her instincts and the small trail of energy that had permeated the air until she came to the open door of a room on the third floor. The two of them peeked inside and she was surprised to see that it was Desmond and that girl from earlier, Kira.

'So was it his energy I felt?' she asked herself before smiling kindly at the two, noting the way Desmond looked so very tired from before and also remembering how he had ran from her so abruptly.

"Hey you two," she called into the room, keeping by the door lest she upset him, "You guys okay?"

If it was possible, Kira managed to blush even deeper, suddenly finding it hard to keep eye contact with him now. Her ears seemed to buzz in the quiet, making it hard to hear even her own thoughts "U-uhm.... th-thanks...." She adjusted her glasses as if there was something on the glass and she were trying to clean it off without removing the glasses. "Your name sounds romantic," she said into the silence, realising too late that speaking her mind like that was probably the only thing that could make is more awkward. "Sorry..." Kira quickly turned and ran from the room, feeling as if she would be better off dead at that moment than alive. What made her run though wasn't the embarrassment, it was more to the fear that if she stayed, she would be severing whatever normal remains of their still new friendship were left. Why do I always have to mess things up for everyone?! She hadn't even heard that girl from earlier when she was by the door!

Max hopped out of the way as Kira went running past her, staring after the flustered girl before looking back to Desmond with a teasing grin.

"Girl troubles already, Lover Boy?" she said playfully, laughing brightly.

Desmond couldn't get a word out before she left. He noticed Max and laughed quietly. "I wouldn't as far as to say that, Max. It was just a tense moment, that's all." He walked over closer to max so he didn't feel like an idiot standing in the middle of the room. " How has your time been here so far, did you find your room alright?" Desmond couldn't get Kira out of his mind, more importantly the moment the two shared, which in reality wasn't the best moment they could have had.

She giggled and shook her head, standing straight again, "I appreciate you asking me, but I get the feeling you don't care so much about the question you asked me but about Kira, am I right?"

Her eyes glimmered teasingly.

Kira rushed as silently as possible into her room, shut the door and locked it before noticing how Kilala was sleeping in a curled up ball at the end of her bed. "Kilala~" she half choked on the sob. Picking up the kitten, she bundled her close to her chest and sat at the foot of the bed. Her face was burried in the fur as she mummbled scoldings and apologies; to who though was unsure until she could calm down a bit more. "You bad, bad, bad kitty! You did it on purpose, didn't you?" then would come several minutes of simply breathing before she would continue. "It's just as much my fault though if you really think about it....." and so on.

"I don't know....about her I mean. I think she caused me to..." He stopped, realizing that no one knew what he just went through." She did something to me, without even trying. Whatever happened, it's here to stay now." He showed her his palm, which still displayed the purple symbol. He then put his hand down. "I'm not normal anymore I guess. If I was ever even." Those lasts words came out with a depressed accent. Desmond looked at the floor, almost giving up on the world. He could never return to his parents. His dad hates demi's. That would surely mean he would hate his own son.

Max shook her head before putting a comforting hand on his shoulder, "I don't even know why you're getting depressed over not being normal. When you think about it, no one here is normal. So just relax."

She then stepped away from and turned to go back down the hallway, "I'm glad you found your room, I hope you get settled in alright. Now I have to find mine, hahaha!"

He looked back at Max. She was right. He always knew deep down he wasn't a normal human. It took this to finally confirm it. Why not embrace it? How bad could it be. "Thanks Max, good luck finding your room!" He smiled and closed his door, to the best that it could, seeing as how he broke it earlier. He then began to unpack his things. Two things stuck in his mind during his unpacking: Kira and the voice which called to him before.

The stairs looked far too steep to be able to climb, but of course, Tamsin hadn't made it this far by just giving up at the first sign of difficulty. So, without pausing for too long, she forced herself up the staircase, gripping the bannister hard enough to cause her knuckles to turn white, though this wasn't actually that much paler than the rest of her body.

Soon enough they were upstairs (though a mite behind Max) and standing at the door to this boys room. She felt like a total intruder, but seeing as these were the only people she had met or even seen any hint of, she thought that perhaps it was a good idea to try and socialise a little bit before they too disappeared. So, Tamsin stuck around, having to lean on a wall for a moment in an effort to get her breath back.

Soon enough, Tamsin went to her own room, leaving the door open so that anyone could come and say hello, should they so wish. The one thing she hadn't expected was the sudden burst of flame that flew from her mouth, scorching her from the inside out with vicious pain. The bolt of fire licked across the hall, scarring the wall on the opposite side of her room.

"Oh no!" Tamsin murmured, instantly feeling terrible, though of course there was nothing she could have done to prevent it.

Oh, come on. It's only a wall. The voice said scathingly, obviously not all that shaken up by the obvious agony Tamsin was in, not to mention the guilt she was feeling.

"Woah!!" Max exclaimed as she just dodged the burst of flame that nearly scorched her.

She had just found her room and deposited her luggage while letting her friend that she had snuck into the university out of the bag before she went exploring a little bit, as her nature was. She had just been about to pass the open door of the room when the gust of fire shot in front of her. He leaned into the doorway, revealing a small black dragon with ruby red eyes curled around her shoulder as if he were meant to be there the entire time. When she saw it was Tamsin, she walked into the room.

"Hey Tamsin, you okay?" she asked with a kind smile before she indicated to the charred wall, "Was that...you?"

"I'm sorry." Tamsin exlaimed, obviously embarrassed by the incident. "I suppose it was me." She shrugged, just noticing the dragon on Max's shoulder. The thing was damn cute, it had to be said. Maybe dragons shouldn't be referred to as such, but it was really impossible not to.

And me, selfish girl. The voice snapped, emanating from somewhere within Tamsin and permeating the room very much like an air freshener.

Tamsin frowned, also wincing as though she had been kicked in the gut. "That...that was Ignatius. A phoenix. One of the last, if his story is true." She knew he would insist on her telling this, so thought it best to get it out before he took it upon himself to proclaim it.

"Your dragon. He's lovely." She spoke shyly, feeling very odd at the moment, just a little bit woozy.

"Oh, Eli?" Max perked up, looking down at her best friend with a bright smile, "Yeah, he is, thank you. He's a sweetheart, too. Eli, this is Tamsin, my new friend."

The black dragon, once he had finished observing the girl before him, bowes his head regally and responded in a deep voice, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Tamsin."

Max grinned and loomed at the girl, putting her hand on her shoulder and coaxing her to have a seat after that little stumble she made.

"Don't worry about the fire thing, I'm kind of a little used to it. Eli breathes fire, too," she said, raising her hand to pet her best friends scaley head, "So where is Ignatius?"

Desmond eventually finished unpacking and looked around. He was satisfied enough with how everything looked and then exited his room. He walked down the hall a bit familiarizing himself with the small lobby and study room. He then sat on one of the chairs and pulled his phone out. It had a text message from his mother which read:
Desmond, I am sorry we ruined your first day and left you alone to unpack. You know we both love you and wish nothing but the best for you. I hope you have a good time and we will visit soon! With love, your mother
Desmond sighed slightly and closed his phone, returning it to his pocket. He once again stared at his palm. He wanted desperately to figure this out. He wanted to control it for fear of another attack. He thought of how and eventually tried to contact the voice he heard earlier. At first thinking words did nothing. So he spoke quietly as to not disturb anyone. "Whatever is in my head, you know who or what your are. You attacked me earlier. Who are you? What do you want from me?" For a few brief moments, nothing was heard. Suddenly the symbol flared as well as Desmond's eyes. The pain did not commence like before, however. The voice from before then spoke."Hahaha, I don't believe you have a right to ask me questions, pawn! I own you whether you want me to or not. Who I am is not important to you. Just know that fighting me is futile. You are my bitch! hahaha! Now listen closely. Not all is bad from this...relationship you and I will share. I have a problem. You will help me with this problem. The girl....Kira. She is blocking me from releasing myself to my true power. You will dispose of her. I don't care how. Just get it done. Then you can know true power. I might even let you control yourself! Hahahaha! Desmond answered angrily, "What? Is this a joke. You can't control me! I won't do as you ask! You can fuck off! I am in control, and that's final. I don't want power. I want you to leave me alone! I will find out how. Trust me. I am not afraid of you. But you will fear me, soon enough." The voice laughed once more before there was no reply at all. He sat there confused and angry. " I will figure this out..."

"Oh. I'm sorry, Eli. I didn't know you could..." She trailed off, feeling a bit stupid for assuming he was just a pet of some sort, albeit an extremely exotic one. Now, about the Ignatius thing. "Um, he's. Well, he's sort of inside me."

Needless to say, this was a bit of an odd thing to be saying, but that didn't change the fact that it was true. Tamsin also had the almost tattoo-like scars on her back to prove it. She would never show them to anyone, of course. Indeed, she was almost ashamed of them. She hated this predicament, and often felt as though it was a pointless battle that she might as well just surrender to.

Bound to her soul, to be exact. Ignatius always felt the need to be heard, no matter what the cost to his host.

"Interesting," she thought aloud, smiling as she sat on the bed next to her and crossed her legs, "I'm not judging you; I would be a total bitch if I did considering my best friend's a talking dragon."

Eli chuckled in humor and caressed Max's cheek with his tail, the action so practiced that he never cut her once.

Kira finally let out her last shaking breath and went to wash her face. It hadn't really been all that bad, right? At least no one laughed, as far as she had heard as she was running. Sighing, she pulled herself off the bed and placed the sleeping feline on top of her head as she went around her bags and continued her unpacking from earlier. The first thing had to be the clothes, she reasoned, opening up the wardrobe to begin. Then took out all the clothes, which she sorted in to two groups for darks and lights; Satsu's stuff and hers. The same was done for all of the things in the baggage so that one day after coming back to class the whole room wouldn't be wrecked with stuff thrown everywhere because something was mixed. It took a while but she eventually finished and found enough nerve to open the door and head out to get some peppermint tea from somewhere, and perhaps read a bit to keep her thoughts in check.

Desmond noticed Kira walking around and bolted away down the hall and around the corner. He put his back to the wall and took deep breathes, trying to collect himself. "Do not run! She is the target damnit!" Desmond felt the pain returning, but only to his hand where the symbol was. He grabbed his hand and kept all impulses to yell. He started sweating and breathing even heavier. "Fuck....you...I am not your slave. I will do as I want." He slid down to a sitting position against the wall where he remained.

Kira turned her head to the side as she heard footsteps running away towards the opposite direction. Maybe she had imagined it though, she thought, staying still a moment longer to see if anything would come back. It was probably just someone in a hurry, so with a bit of difficulty, she shook off the feeling of foreboding and continued on down the hall to where she was almost positive the Library was located.

"Ugh! You are useless. You leave me no choice...useless fucking pawn!" At that moment the symbols started to spread rapidly over Desmond's body. Before he could get a word out, the symbols completely consumed his body and his eyes flared purple again. The markings flared brightly and disappeared. Desmond was left staring blankly at the wall. He stood up and started walking towards Kira's direction. "You're more easy to control than I thought. I will kill her myself, through you. How does it feel. Being in your body, your thoughts intact but physically unable to fight? Do you feel helpless. Haha!" Desmond could not fight it, he helplessly followed Kira until he reached her. "Now speak pawn." "Hey...hey Kira." Desmond was twitching as he tried to fight the voice inside him, but it seemed pointless, though he persisted.
