It all started 32 years ago. Started when, from out of nowhere, they came into the public eye for the first time. When those first costume clad men and women, each with amazing skills and/or powers jumped out of the human imagination and into our cold, bleak reality, ready to help us take on the threats and problems that faced us at the time. When for 16 years and a little over, the Golden Age of the superheroes captured the hearts and minds of nearly every man, woman, teenager and child. Not just across the United States, but all over the damn world. Amazing powers, eye catching costumes, larger than life personas and names. Some could fly, some were acrobats, others could lift cars over their heads, run faster than sound, control the elements with their finger tips, or simply had the tech or fighting prowess to get by in the world of vigilantism. True, at first we didn't entirely trust them. Our men in blue didn't like how effective they were either. But in no time at all, we quickly saw them for what they were. Heroes. Saviours. Celebrities. Cash Cows.
Even with the Miller (and later Cooke) Administration(s) making things worse for some and better for others, even with wars and battles and violence raging across the planet, Even with crime, corruption and so forth across the nation, it was still a great time top be alive. Such were the days of the Justice Society, the Seven Soldiers, the Freedom Fighters and the All-Star Squadron, not to mention the solo heroes that only those who lived back then seem to remember. These costumed citizens who worked day and night for our protection, who brought down criminals both powered and un powered with seemingly little trouble, took down monsters and explored the most uncharted reaches of earth and space gave each and every last one of us hope for a better tomorrow.
No one is entirely sure why the majority of these remarkable Americans left us shortly after the 1993 election of Rob Liefeld. Perhaps they felt things were drying up (it didn't help that super powered crime had dropped to almost pre golden age levels by that point), or that the problems that had tasked themselves to face had sorta, kinda been fixed. Then again maybe it's because some of us, in our misguided sense of fear and insecurity, turned against our protectors and tossed them aside like childhood toys we no longer felt any connection to, that we simply wanted to sell or throw away.

But most of the time, those toys get put in the attic, just in case we change our minds. Not to mention that, where there is good, there is always evil. and in the early days of 2010, the cycle began again. Needless to say, we were glad to have our heroes back again and they in turn, were happy to be back and doing what they did best.
This however, is not the world you think it is.
Oh, the codenames are the same of course, but the powers, costumes, skills, secret identities, personalities, locations, faces and in some cases genders attached to them are more different than you could ever imagine. Such is the case for the 53rd Earth in the ever growing multiverse. In a few cases, this version of earth takes it's cues from Earths Six and Nine in terms of the vastly different nature of it's heroes in comparison to Earth Prime. The names of Superman and Green Lantern, Lex Luthor and Condiment King, don't mean what they do on the Earth we're used to observing Even seemingly familiar cities and locations might be a complete change from the norm. And so it goes on.
But like I said before, where there is super good, there will always inevitably be super evil. The villains are back in force. They're bigger and badder than ever and BOY are they pissed! As if this wasn't bad enough, There are the god level threats to contend with too. For instance, recently a slowly increasing number of net users have fallen victim to a new, unusual virus called the Mxyzptlk Cloner. And by unusual we mean that those whose devices get infected are usually found dead at their homes or other locations with said places nearly emptied of electronic equipment, all save for the device that was originally infected, which often shows a bright Orange screen. Where the equipment goes and what kills the users has however, yet to be determined by the world at large. And it's only a matter of time before our heroes get dragged into this as the virus continues to spread. What does it want? Where did it come from? And how many will it take to get rid of the damn thing? For all we know, it could take an entire League.
Welcome to DC: A Whole New World. An entirely AU DCU roleplay, inspired, but not based on, the tangent line from the 90s. Here, civilians, neutrals, heroes and villains alike are completely or almost completely re imagined. Everything from powers to origins to looks to locations to status is yours to decide. This is you're chance to make your own version of Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow and even Hawkman. The general rules of Iwakuro apply to this game of course, but there are a few I'd like to add to this game specifically.
Rules
1:No overpowered or god level characters.
2:No killing another person's character.
3:Please try to make your IC posts as detailed as you can, say about 3 to 4 paragraphs per post. They don't have to be long ones if you don't feel up to it though. Character dialogue is also encouraged though not a necessity for every post.
4:Please be patient of others when waiting for replies. Some players might take a while to reply to IC posts due to personal reasons or creative ones.
5:Everyone from the Trinity and the Legion of Doom to B'wana Beast and the Brotherhood of Evil is yours to reshape like clay into whatever you want, provided it isn't exactly like the original character you're basing yours off of, as creative ideas are encouraged and desired in this game.
6:No double posting if it can be avoided.
7:Be respectful of others and their decisions in the game.
8:Everyone is allowed a total of 2 heroes and two villains each.
9:No original Codenames. All codenames must come from a character in the dcu.
9: the most important rule in any roleplay. Have as much fun as you can. ;)
If you have any further questions regarding this game, feel free to post them here and I'll try to answer them as soon as I can. Thank you for reading. :)
