MASON MARCUS ZETITH

Ely, Nevada

general data

Full Name: Mason Marcus Zetith

Age: 17

Sex: Male

Date of Birth: December 25th 2000

Height: 5'11" | Weight: 152lbs

Hair Color|Style|Length: Brown, curly and messy, easily described as bedhead. Above the ears.

Written Appearance: Mason is a rather handsome young teen, with dark curly hair and shimmering hazel eyes. His features are sharp and defined, and his voice is said to be described as low and airy, giving an air of carelessness. While he was still in school, he was the subject of many a girl's crush, often for his "cute smile" or "dreamy laugh", but Mason never paid much attention. He has a fairly athletic body, though on the lithe side, despite not being very much interested in sports at all.

personality
Mason is first and foremost, a kind and compassionate young man. Though quite shy in his actions, he has a wonderful sense of humorand is quite empathetic. Mason often found that children his age found it easier to look at him from a distance, so he did the same. Never much bothered by the fact he wasn't popular, Mason was a presence during the majority of his school years that not many noticed, and if they did happen to notice, Mason never quite noticed them back.

A boy of simple pleasures, Mason has few interests, but he is very passionate about those few. He knows what he likes. He stays away from what he doesn't. His life is routine, or perhaps was. He wanted to explore, and to travel, and to let the wind take him away, because why force something that could just come naturally? He tries to pass himself off as a "go with the flow" kinda guy, but the moment something does not flow so easily, he does panic pretty quickly.

biography
Mason was born in Portland, Oregon. His father had left his mother upon hearing she was pregnant, and she raised him as a single mother. His mother, Tanya, was a wonderful woman, a reporter and editor who worked majorly from home, allowing her to care for Mason. They lived in a quiet home on the outskirts of Portland, where Mason spent his childhood and teen years.

He was never a largely outgoing boy. In school he was always the sullen broody type, with not many friends. Something about this made him quite popular among the opposite sex, and he does have a small sense of overconfidence about his demeanor because of this. Still, it didn't earn him any outright popularity, and he had one single friend by the name of Samuel, who lived down the street, a kind boy who would pester him at ungodly hours of the night and talk conspiracy theories. Mason enjoyed his company.

Mason has few interests, but he was passionate about them. He had a very fond love of cars, working part-time at an auto shop and always rambling on about models. He loved to travel. Mason and his mother were not able to do it so often, as it was expensive, but when they did, it was a blast. He wanted to save his money to travel across the globe. And finally, stars. Mason loved nothing more than astronomy. He can name every constellation and tell you where it is. He and Sam would climb up their roof on a late Saturday night to stargaze. Those were the peaceful days.

On his birthday, aka Christmas, his mom bought him a beat-up old Chevy. For conquering the world, she'd said. If only.

Less than a week later, the meteors fell. He'd been stargazing with Sam, just like usual. They'd both thought the first one was a shooting star. But then the meteors kept coming, and coming, and coming. Fires bloomed and explosions boomed and suddenly the two boys realized that their peaceful Saturday stargazing was not so peaceful anymore. Especially when Mason's eyes had begun to glow a bright, unearthly blue.

His quaint home, and Sam's for that matter, was untouched. He went into town later that week and found himself ambushed by men in white lab coats. His newfound powers helped him to escape, finding new routes to run out of their grasp as his eyes continued to glow. That day, he climbed into his car and left his home. At the ripe age of seventeen, he decided he'd rather live on the run and stay and wait for those men to come and hurt his mother and his friend.

powers
PATHFINDER

Mason has the ability to track any person, place, or thing. Stars are a large part of Mason's power, they guide Mason to the people and places he is trying to find. When Mason starts to look for someone, he can not only find where it is, but he can find the most appropriate path to get to that place.

In the early stages of this power, Mason can only find certain locations. He is still unaware that he can track people, and his connection to the stars is not very strong. To put it simply, Mason is a GPS of the highest caliber. Sometimes, he can find himself in places he's never heard it, all because the "stars" have told him that this is the place he needs to be at, or get too.

RHEYA CROW

ELY, NEVADA

general data

Full Name: Rheya Elisabeth Crow

Age: 16.5347

Sex: Female

Date of Birth: August 2nd 2001

Height: 5'7 | Weight: 128

Hair Color|Style|Length: Dark blonde, lackluster, barely reaches her shoulder blades and is habitually messy. Prone to waves when wet.

Written Appearance:
Crow is a peculiar sight: Tall and lanky, almost giving the impression her limbs and torso have been stretched out. Despite her young features, there is a palpable sense of awareness that exudes from Crow. Young though she may be, her experiences litter not only her psyche, but her physical body as well. Seemingly permanent dark marks mar the flesh beneath her grey-green eyes. A splash of freckles adorn the bridge of her nose, her cheekbones, and the tops of her shoulders. An assortment of precise scars litter her frame, but none as curious as the crescent shaped scar on her left shoulder.

personality
Crow is a cautious, paranoid creature, one who requires inner calm and outer control. Lacking the latter, Crow hides a massive amount of justifiable rage for everything that's happened in her few short years. She hides it behind sarcastic remarks, a dark humor, and a pessimistic outlook on life.

That's not to say, however, that she's able to ignore or completely compartmentalize what's happened to her. Tough as nails though Rheya Crow is, there are moments in life when strength of will just isn't enough.

Crow is quick to anger, judgmental, aggressive, brutally blunt, and can get quite petty when her mood sours. She prefers to remain neutral, or more accurately, indifferent, to the people around her. They never seem to last long and it hurts too much to get attached. On top of that, Crow lacks a refined set of social skills. She often doesn't understand what certain scenarios entail due to her lack of experience.

Regarding the more positive aspects of her personality, Crow is inherently protective, intuitive, absolutely loyal to those she deems worthy, determined, and passionate to her core. Her determination (though this could easily be described as stubbornness) and strength of will has kept her sane. Crow has a fiery disposition, one that has the potential to inspire and terrify, and has no qualms expressing what bothers her. Overall, Crow is just a scared little girl, trying her damnedest to survive.
biography
Crow was born in the bustle of the French Quarter, to a father who fished for a living and a mother who quit her job to raise her growing family. On the outside, the Crow family seemed to have their gears in the right order: they seemed happy, bills were paid on time, the children were respectful and did well in school.

Nothing is ever as it seems, however. As her mother's mental state deteriorated, her father brought the family of seven to a small brick house in the country, where they could hide the episodes from nosy neighbors. It was the wrong thing to do, however. Perhaps... Perhaps if they had neighbors, they'd have been able to save her younger brother and sister from the accidental clutches of her mother.

When she was seven years old, another episode overtook her mother. Thinking there were intruders in her house, Crow's mother started attacking both Crow and her younger sister. Desperate and close to death, Crow's powers manifested for the first and her mother was blown backwards, away from the pair. Nearly two years after this incident, the family was visited by what she knows now as SPME.

Taken from her family under the false pretense that she "needed medical help". Crow was kidnapped and held for years while being tortured and experimented upon. The pain of the situation hasn't left... but Crow has found ways to make her heavy heart lighter. About a week ago, after an incident she can't recall clearly, Crow was finally able to break free. A small explosion left a gaping hole in the side of a building and she fled without a moments hesitation.
powers
Personal Energy Manipulation

Note: Do to rigorous [REDACTED] Crow's powers are extremely unstable. Though she is capable of everything on this list, the chance of her doing it on command is highly questionable. The only exception to this, is life or death situations, where like most powers, act seemingly on their own accord. Even though control tactics have been at the forefront of her [REDACTED] accidental emissions of her power during high-stress situations are still common.

As a byproduct of her energy manipulation, Crow's strongest and most-used power is telekinesis. Over the years many "sub-abilities" have been forcefully brought to the surface, yet none are as strong as her ability to create force-fields. Her force-fields come in two varieties:

Suit and Dome

Suit based force-fields occur when Crow wraps a protective layer of energy just above her skin. This costs less of her own energy to maintain than it's counterpart and has the potential to last much longer. It's nigh impenetrable and has been regularly tested for it's potency. So far, needles, bullets, and even a truck have yet to penetrate it. To some extent, Crow can still feel the force behind whatever is attacking her, and results have yielded both bruises and breaks of bone.

Dome-fields have the potential to encase multiple people and expands directly from her suit-field. When this occurs, the energy usually "explodes" in all directions, pushing back whoever she doesn't want near. On average, the size of the dome-field is usually three feet in all directions
  • This ability is one of the driving forces in her accidental emissions. As stated above, dome-fields will blow back anyone she doesn't want near -- however, during emissions, her power overrides this and anyone in the vicinity is blown away from her.

Sub-abilities stemming from her telekinesis:
  • Levitation/Hovering
  • Augmented Strength

Coalescing
Crow has the ability to coalesce the energy around her. When this happens, the energy becomes volatile and turbulent. As the energy becomes charged, it turns amethyst and she refers to this as "burning her telekinesis". In future years, she will be able to create spherical orbs of explosive energy.

Weaknesses
Overusing her powers can easily result in death. During her [REDACTED] this was monitored heavily. Due to the nature of her powers, she's mainly limited to her own personal execution and creativity. Most of her common weaknesses include: splitting headaches, nose bleeds, and loss of consciousness.

Due to [REDACTED] Crow's eyes are known to glow amethyst while under high-stress circumstances, life or death situations, or extreme power usage. At this point in her life, it happens frequently.

Leon

Millennium City, New York

general data

Full Name: Leon A. Rojay

Age: Twenty

Sex: Male

Date of Birth: August 18th, 1996

Height: 6'0" | Weight: 152lbs

Hair Color|Style|Length: Black | Buzzed Comb Over | Short

Written Appearance: Leon is a mix of ethnicity with ties to Japanese, Hawaiian, German and Native American. He has always had short, buzzed hair his entire life but recently he began to style it by having the sides buzzed down and the top with a comb over. Standing at 6'0" his body is lithe with wiry muscle, having been on the basketball team back in High School he has stayed in shape. He is usually seen wearing plain t-shirts that vary in the color of black or white, a hoodie or long sleeved shirt, jeans of varying blue and fade and sneakers that are always kept clean. He has one tattoo. A half-sleeve on his right arm in black ink.

personality
Leon like most his age has two faces that he shows to two different groups. His friends and close ones and the face he shows to strangers and enemies. He acts like a tough kid because his family was always fighting to scrape by in life, living paycheck to paycheck. Growing up was harsh for him so he learned how to grow a thick skin and be able to throw insults back and even scrap with some bullies. He is loyal to his friends and loved ones, always keeping them in mind if something bad ever happens and checking in on them. Friendship and loyalty were important when you grew up with nothing, no money or power to make people respect you.

He can be a major ass with a thick skull when he gets into a heated argument and won't admit that he was wrong. Temper comes easy to Leon but he has never lost his cool just yet. His face and body language shows he is ready to burst and to just start swinging and never stop, but instead he always walks away from the situation to cool himself off and talk him out of the horrible thoughts of murdering or beating someone to a pulp. Leon can also be very impatient, wanting results instantly or some sort of progress. Moving slow isn't his forte. He has his flaws but he is still growing and hasn't had any serious life event to change his mind or attitude on how he behaves.

Strengths:
- Cunning - Despite having subpar grades in school, he is smart on devising a plan and how to get out of a situation.
- Silver Tongue - Lying is like second nature to Leon now, skipping class and coming home late has taught him how to think fast and speak even faster and spin a compelling story.
- Fighting - While Leon isn't an MMA Fighter, he has gotten into enough fights at school or on the street to be able to hold his own, any way that he can.

Flaws:
- Compulsive Lying - Even though lying can help him get out of a bad situation it has become second nature and lies usually come out of his mouth more than truths. Even over small, stupid things he will lie.
- Sensitive - Leon doesn't cry or pout, but he is quick to anger and will try to resolve a matter with violence if they touch a touchy subject for him.
- Nosy - Always has to find a way to know whats going on, even with things that don't involve him and would affect him had he known the details he just wants to know.
biography
Life wasn't a tragic one that forced him into making bad decisions, he just made them on his own. His Mother is a Nurse for the local hospital and his Father is a Manager at the Supermarket in town. They lived comfortably. Money was always tight, being budgeted and saved away for a rainy day and things like television and toys, bikes, etc. Weren't something they go so easily and without saving for. Those fun items were never essentials and cost money, money that could be saved for the energy bill in case they have some sick days or something. Growing up, attending Elementary School and Middle School he was the outcast. The kid who had nothing to do or anything cool to show to the others that would impress them to be his friend. When Leon reached High School those material things started to matter less and less, and eventually fell into the wrong crowd.

They were seen as the problem children, the ones who skipped class to go and do god knows what outside of school property. Teachers were concerned for Leon because he had always been smart, and had straight As until he fell into the crowd. His grades began to slip until his Senior year when he decided to apply himself once more. He only did because he was threatened to have his diploma held back. After graduating he had schools lining up to give him scholarships but he turned them all down, uninterested in going to college.

In truth he had nothing planned in life. He moved out of his parents home and got himself a cozy one bedroom apartment in Millennium City. He worked at a retail store, in the back unloading the trucks that came in for delivery. Leon blows all his money after his rent and utilities were paid. Be it on clothes, food, girls or a mix of things, he had no savings to speak of.

Two weeks ago, when there was a meteor shower Leon was going to try and sell a fake diamond ring to a pawn shop for some extra cash. He was nervous about the whole thing and was clutching the ring tightly, wishing that he could trick the people somehow into believing it was real and not some knock off. When he finally built up the courage to step inside and show the ring, they inspected and looked it over before giving him an offer. It was a real diamond in that ring and Leon didn't ask how that was possible, he simply took the money and left. Since that night he has been able to transmute solids into different things. He is now learning his limitations and slowly changing fake jewelry into the real deal and selling it for value.
powers
Transmutation is the ability to change one substance into another. This power so far cannot be used on living creatures of beings, but on things such as rock, iron, wood, glass etc. Solids is what he can work with. It is a simple power that can become complex over time and understanding, but for now the most he has ever used this ability for was changing fake rings and other jewelry into gold. It can be used in its current state for small scale combative and offensive abilities. For example being able to change the floor underneath him or someone from wood/cement/tile into quicksand that is only 4 feet deep.

Limits:
Wood = Easy for him to convert into and doesn't take much energy
Sand/Quicksand = Can turn a 5x5 foot zone into a 4 foot deep pocket of quicksand, uses a lot of his energy.
Iron = Uses a moderate amount of energy
Steel = Uses a great amount of energy
Emeralds/Rubies/Diamonds/etc. = Can only make about 0.25ct (4.1mm) size jewels before exhausting himself.
Gold/Silver = Is able to change fake necklaces, bands, rings, bracelets into Gold and Silver, but takes up almost all of his energy and has to stop.

Weaknesses
Unable to make an object or item out of his transmutations
Anything that isn't being turned into wood quickly diminishes his energy, varying on the size.
Can't mess with water, fire, electricity, etc. Anything that isn't a solid, the only exception being ice since it is frozen water. (He can't mess with Ice, if that is poorly worded on my part.)
Not an extremely combative power, or even defensive. This may change as the power matures and he learns to understand it and how to "level up" with it.
The transmutation doesn't happen instantly. The larger the transmutation the more time it takes, for example the 2x4. Changing the wooden 2x4 into iron would take him around 2 minutes, anything higher quality will take even longer.
Can't make something out of nothing. He can't just wave his hands in the air and make a substance, he needs something to work with.

"Maybe that's what I needed. Another tattoo. Some pain on the outside to ease the pain on the inside."
London is an ass but at least he’s aware (and rather accepting) of the fact. His thoughts are calculated and realistic in nature and by the time they are transformed into words they’ve become a display of his wit. Quick, unforgiving, and honest as all hell, London’s tongue has gotten him into countless situations—most of which resorting in a brawl.

Mindful of himself, London knows that he plays directly into the British stereotype of coming off as blunt or rude but that’s the way he’s always been. Just as stubborn as he is prideful, London rarely compromises that part of him for the sake of others and consequently does not do good in group settings. He abhors the responsibility of being a leader and feels himself incapable of the obedience necessary to be a follower so London finds himself somewhere between that black and white, a rebel through and through.

Still, there’s a certain charm in his honesty and those who decide to put in the effort in getting past his sharp exterior might find themselves rewarded with a loyal, caring, albeit porcupine-like, companion.

STRENGTHS
+ Loyal | Even though it's always come back to bite him in the ass, when London finds that rare person he feels he can trust, he's 100% there for them. Without question.
+ Honest | London is unafraid to say what needs to be said.
+ Trustworthy | Same as loyal.
+ Charm | He knows how to sweet talk when he wants to.
FLAWS
- Unforgiving | London's been hurt too many times before, fuck up and good luck trying to get him to forgive you. It's not impossible--just never done before.
- Relentless | In regards to his honesty.
- Prideful | Stubborn prick.
- Baggage | He has issues.
biography
"I'm from Liverpool but most people just call me London."
Parents are people. People aren’t perfect. His dad was a piece of shit in particular. London spent his childhood as Levi Anthony Lancaster, the only and ‘beloved’ child of the Lancaster family. His blood and kin alike run through all the important social circles in Britain and to this day he likened his childhood estate to a prison.

London was expected to take after his father and go into law but he never had much incentive to do so considering his father was rarely around. Even when Mr. Lancaster was around he preferred to spend time with the maids rather than his own son. Everyone tried to tell him differently but London knew—he knew that his father avoided him like the plague because he looked like his mother.

London’s birth was supposed to be the happiest thing… but when Mr. Lancaster’s wife died she took all his goodness with her. London spent the lot of his early formative years causing all kind of hell around Liverpool, he routinely got sent to private academies only to be kicked out months later, he ran away from home constantly and he even got his first tattoo when he was just thirteen.

At seventeen his father ultimately had enough. He sent London away to America with enough money to last three years and (albeit not officially) disowned him. London was hurt but ultimately not surprised, it was the best way to get his devil child out of his hair and it worked. He found himself a drifter, gaining tattoo after tattoo as the months rolled. Two years in and most of the Lancaster money is gone and he works at a local parlor. He didn't think twice about the meteor shower.
powers
PRIMARY || MELANOKINESIS
London wouldn’t be able to tell you the specifics or the science of his new abilities if you asked. Everything he found himself newly capable of were discovered through experimentation and a healthy dose of intuition. His entire powerset revolves around ink manipulation and how he applies it through his tattoos.

Being melanokinetic, London capable of moving and shaping ink freely. He isn’t capable of creating ink but his body has more than enough to work with. He’s able to alter ink right down to its current state of viscosity and color. While this power certainly has combat applications, London’s mainly been using it to tattoo himself like no other artist can.

Though he is yet to learn it, London is also capable of giving his tattoos physical form. This will later enable him to accomplish feats like flying with inked on angel wings for example. Until then however he’s stuck animating doodles.

LIMITS
+ Ink | His ink is still susceptible to effects that'd normally affect it such as temperature. He cannot make it godly strong or anything like that...all applications London is capable of is limited by the element itself self.

+ Power | Ink isn't the most common element and London only has so many tattoos. He is inexperienced with the concept of using large amounts of ink, or even using ink as a physical force in general beyond maybe a situational (and temporary) blinding.

+ Inexperienced | For whatever reason, be it general incapability or lack of trying, London cannot juggle different applications of his talent all at once. If he does his powers just...don't.

✵ Written Description

With just five months before he hits his twenties, London stands six-feet tall and exhibits detailed tattoos along his arms and neck. As of now his abdomen and backside are ‘free real-estate’ so to speak, but the chances of that lasting are slim.

London’s body is lean and limber—as are his limbs. Starting from the top up, London and his hair have gone through a multitude of phases. Recently, he tends to keep the former messily styled. His face is angular, sharp and distinct. He has a habit of glaring without noticing and coupled with his generally intimidating look, London seems hard to approach.

Moving downward, the young man is barely above average in terms of muscle mass. London personally considers himself a bit too skinny, but his shoulders are broad and he has the makings of abs so he knows he could be worse off. He dresses well, if not a little (intentionally) rough, usually resorting to some variation of the jeans-jacket-boots trifecta.

pers♥nality
"I try to see a bright side to everything, and I know people get annoyed by it, but nobody would watch Bambi if all you saw was his mom die, right??"

Dakota Jennings is, without question, the epitome of effervescence. Like the lovechild of sunshine and rainbows, she seemed to carry herself with a nearly delirious (though no less deliberate) sense of constant optimism and joy. Her spirits can be, at times, a bit unnerving, but for the most part, she carries herself with such unmitigated happiness that most find her pleasant, in not contagious. Her warmth and excitability, as well as her generally selfless outlook are all well intended, though for some, best taken in small doses.

Dakota is not without her flaws, however. Most notable is her inability to contain her excitement, particularly when coupled with the consumption of quite literally anything containing sugar. She has a tendency to be exceedingly -over- helpful, and doesn't always understand that not everything can be fixed... especially with her brand of blind cheeriness.

STRENGTHS
Optimistic | There is no end to Dakota's abilities to see the silver lining in whatever situation befalls her.
Generally Selfless | Dakota's first thoughts are generally not for herself, but for others, and she has a mind for wanting to 'fix' problems, even if her methods aren't always so well received.
Compassionate | Dakota cares about everyone she meets. It doesn't seem to matter if she's known then for five years or five minutes.
Insightful | Despite her often times overexcited nature, Dakota has a knack for being quite insightful at times, offering surprisingly effective advice...

FLAWS
Overly Excitable | Particularly when paired with sugar of any kind, Dakota is possessed with a nearly unmanageable excitability that borders on hyperactive.
Naive | Too trusting for her own good, Dakota doesn't think poorly of anyone she meets and has a tendency to believe a person's word all too willingly.
Weak | Despite her ability, Dakota is quite lacking in physical strength and while she cannot be easily physically harmed, she isn't much use offensively (or with heavy lifting).
Forgetful | Dakota isn't exactly blessed with an eidetic memory, to any degree, and tends to forget small details easily.
bi♥graphy
"...Wait. What do you mean 'the personification of cotton-candy' isn't a compliment? I think that sounds -amazing-."

Dakota did not have a childhood embroiled in tragedy. She grew up in a cozy neighborhood, with loving parents, James and Eileen, three siblings Jimmy, Laine and Fiona, and two erratic, chaotic mutts named Riggs and Murtaugh. Her mother a grocery clerk, her father a night security guard at a small bank, the most dramatic incidences within the Jennings family typically occurred during family game night.

Then the meteors hit, and while not everything changed, some things certainly did. For Dakota, she didn't come to realize just how much until an accident that should have ended her life, left her without so much as a scratch. While walking through the parking lot on a shopping trip with her sister, Dakota was pinned between a wall and an out of control SUV. The impact should rightly have killed her, but the only damage was a psychological scar on the minds of those who witnessed the event... and a dented front fender.

Still, despite the preternatural changes within her, Dakota remained unaltered in every other way. She chose to see the bright side of her transition, and has since begun exploring the extent of her abilities - with an air of extreme caution. Dakota's family, less enthusiastic have nevertheless supported Dakota, but with every passing day, their fear for her safety grows...
p♥wers
PRIMARY || INVULNERABILITY

Effectively, Dakota is indestructible, at least on the outside. The increased density of osteoblast and keratinocyte cells within Dakota's bone and dermal structuring make her nearly completely impervious to physical harm. Thus far, the increased density of these cells does not appear to effect her sense of touch, and/or her strength/size (defensively). It is widely believed that beneath the epidermal layer, within the dermis, Dakota's somatosensory system remain fully functioning - which would suggest that the invulnerability is employed within her nervous system as well, allowing Dakota to maintain a sense of touch, whilst negating her pain receptors.

SECONDARY || ENERGY TRANSFERAL

It appears that at least to some degree, Dakota also possesses the ability to transfer energy/strength to people around her. While not fully understood, the process does appear to make those subject to this transferal temporarily invulnerable as well. The limitations of this transfer appear to be dependent upon several factors.
LIMITS
+ Heat/Cold || While her tolerance is stronger than most, Dakota appears to still be susceptible to increased/decreased temperatures, suggesting that prolonged exposure to such environments could effect her negatively (hypothermia/heat exhaustion/sun poisoning etc.)
+ Laser/Electrical Shock || Depending on the strength of these factors, Dakota's skin appear vulnerable to and even penetrable by high intensity laser or increased amperage.
+ Weight-to-Size ratio || While Dakota's strength (offensively) appears stronger, due to the increased density of her bone structure, there appear to be limitations to how much weight her body can withstand.
+ Energy Depletion || In the event that Dakota transfers too much of her strength to those around her, her own energy appears to deplete - the effect occurring more rapidly with the increase of transfer rate/volume.
BREAKING POINTS
- While physically impervious to most damages, Dakota is still vulnerable to drowning/oxygen deprivation, electrocution/high heat/intense cold, and extreme pressure/weight distribution.
- Dakota is still completely subject to the effects of natural aging. Her abilities make her indestructible, but not immortal. She is still very much susceptible to old age and/or accrued misuse/damage of her body and it's structure.
- Due to the increased number of keratinocyte cells within her body, most illnesses/poisoning is relatively ineffective, but in a weakened state Dakota would be sensitive to these things - particularly the latter.
- It is hypothesized that with too much transferal, Dakota could entirely deplete her own energy, which could effectively result in coma/death. There is thus far no set determination to these limits.
- Dakota's transferal limits appear to be subject to fully organic beings - she cannot transfer strength/energy to inanimate objects/non-sentient lifeforms.
☀Written Description

For being a powerhouse of energy, Dakota is a wisp of a thing, physically. Her size, while hardly impressive, has it's benefits - as she is often mistaken as quite weak, her abilities underestimated. She stands at barely five-feet, and less than a hundred pounds, with a slender frame, especially narrow in the waist, and long, slightly gangly limbs, with smaller hands and feet.

Her features are soft and delicate, with a round face, a button nose and a slightly-upturned mouth. Her eyes, ash-blue are set slightly far apart, with long lashes and thin, arched brows, her hair just below her shoulders, a light blonde with darker undertones.

Depending on her mood, Dakota can be quite dramatic with her make-up and wardrobe, or else she wears none at all and dresses with a casual, comfortable air. This tends to be a polarizing effect that makes her age difficult to determine. All in all, the word to describe her is generally in the vein of 'adorable', though not always intended favorably...

⌽Hedieh Redding⌽

MILLENNIUM CITY, NEW YORK

general data

Full Name: Hedieh Mary Redding

Age: 19

Sex: Female

Date of Birth: 17th October, 1997

Height: 5'7"/170cm | Weight: 125lbs/57kg

Hair Color | Style | Length: Brown | Loose ponytail | Just past shoulders

Written Appearance: Brown hair - sometimes a dark gold when caught by the light - is pulled back loosely to reveal ambiguously brown skin. A mixed heritage, impossible to accurately pin down. Eyes a darker shade of brown than the hair, the bags below half-heartedly hidden behind a layer of foundation. No dimples frame the mouth, no furrowed brow resides above the button nose; it is a face that reads neutral unless actively rearranged otherwise. For those who find themselves looking closely, the outline of contacts can be seen looking tiredly back.

Gaze unfocused, leg folded up and inward, arms wrapped loosely around it. Hedieh, physically, is self-contained and controlled. A juxtaposition between the graceful and the tense; her movements smooth but small. On the occassions when her sleeves are short enough, old scabs can be seen on her upper arms. Picked at, healed, then picked at again. Imperfections deepened by the absent attempts to remove imperfection.

⌽personality⌽
Many find repitiveness to be mentally oppressive. The same tasks and the same patterns, repeated day after day and week after week, wear down on them. They need change, and excitement, and new experiences. Not Hedieh. For her, she only wishes the world would stop moving so fast. Stability is important to her. In patterns she finds peace. And she applies this need for stability to nearly every aspect of her life. Around others, she is a quiet observer. A decoration or backdrop to the group. Not antisocial by any means, and isn't afraid to join in when she has something to say, but she rarely leads a conversation. She doesn't take the reigns in her own hands, and prefers to be cautious and deliberate with what she does choose to say. She's good at reading people to get a sense for what they'll find interesting or funny, and what they'll find offensive. All so she can leave a positive impression without drawing too much attention, or accidentally saying something to cause a rift.

Her humour, when she's comfortable enough to show it, is often sarcastic or ironic. Self-deprecating around those more sensitive, friendly mocking around those who enjoy good-natured banter. Her grins are lopsided and wry, the smile of someone entertained by a joke only they understand. Her patience is nearly endless, preferring to roll with the punches and wait things out rather than cause a confrontation.

While Hedieh is quick to try and help a friend, she's afraid of long term commitments. Both of others coming to rely on her, and of her having to rely on others. She's at her best when she can step in unexpectly, offer a moment of help, and then step back once more.
⌽biography⌽
School was perhaps the happiest part of Hedieh's life. Organized and scheduled, it was a litany of familiar faces and familiar tasks. It was a gentle stream Hedieh could close her eyes in and let herself be carried along. Comfortable enough that she could introduce change and experimentation at a controlled rate; make new friends, pick up new hobbies. She was a good student. Her grades were average, but they were consistent. She was quiet and respectful, but at the same time was well liked for her intermittent but well-timed and well-executed jokes. She picked up track and field, participating in the endurance races. Partway through high school, she also picked up a job as a housecleaner at a hotel. Part time work on the weekends, difficult but not overwhelming. Yet life, inevitably and unfortunately, changes.

Graduation, when it came, left her listless. Time started to melt away from her without the usual schedule of school to provide structure. Upgrading to full time work helped to alleviate that, but then a divorce between her parents sent her off balance once more. Rather than forcing herself to choose a parent to live with, she moved out on her own into a small apartment on the outskirts of downtown Millennium City, as close to her work as she could afford. During the transition, from live-at-home student to independent woman, Hedieh began to lose track of her friends. Failed to learn how to keep in touch without the aid of seeing them every day at school, and by the time she did, she struggled to maintain even sparse contact with a select few. And while she stresses over losing even those, doubting her ability to go out and make new friends to replace the lost, part of her is relieved at the lowered obligations. The potential to fade away from everyone and live in a self-enclosed bubble.
⌽powers⌽
Hedieh has the ability to turn herself, or parts of herself if she chooses, completely intangible. Able to pass through walls, people, and even light, rendering her all but invisible. However, there are annoyances. With light passing through her when intangible, if she wants to see, she has to leave at least part of her eyes visible. Similarly, learned quite quickly after discovering her powers, she often needs to leave the soles of her feet tangible, lest she fall through the floor. Or worse, through the ground, eternally trapped beneath the Earth's surface. Because of this, there's a limit to how thick a wall she can pass through, with that limit being what she can comfortably cover in a single stride. Letting her always leave one foot solid so that she can keep herself grounded.

At first, her powers were limited purely to her own body, but with some practice she's been able to include clothes and small objects. From what she's gathered, it's less about weight or even volume, and more about distance from her body. For example, even once she'd gotten the hang of turning her clothes intangible with her, she lost a couple of loose jackets to them flapping out behind her as she passed through walls, causing her to lose control of the hem as it moved away from her, and becoming permanently stuck in the wall.

There's also the minor side effect of whenever she uses her power, a snapping noise can be heard, as air either rushes in to fill the vacuum left behind, or is shoved back as her body becomes tangible once again.

Alex Summers

San Antonio, Texas

general data

Full Name: Alexander Summers

Age: 17

Sex: Male

Date of Birth: 1999, November 14

Height: 5’10” | Weight: 64 kg

Hair Color|Style|Length: Brown hair, mid-length, Unknown Style. Waxed upwards.

Written Appearance: Alex is quite approachable; his natural smile and reasonable (if not slightly below average) height mean that he doesn’t tower over nor shrink under others much. He’s rather lean, though carries himself with an air of certainty; he knows what works for him.

He perpetually wear sunglasses; though not the silly reflective ones that no one can see through. Its quite befitting of him, actually. Even though barely anyone would see them, his eyes have a light green tint to them.

He carries his laptop everywhere in a thin-strap shoulder bag.

He often wears dark colors; mostly to match his hair color. Its fashionable, and say what you will, no one’s comfortable with someone who looks or smells bad.

personality
Alexander does not trust. He charms, he smiles, he will do what you ask. But he does not trust. Alex has grown up in competition, to either be the best, or if not, grease the pole and trip others up to make yourself better. He will blackmail, cheat, and do whatever he needs to do to win. There is no need for honor; only the winners and losers.

And if he’s losing, he has an out.

That being said, he also masks his ruthless, competitive nature quite well. To greet someone and treat them with utmost respect while systematically planning out how to use them to the best of his advantages, its something he’s done and done quite well.

He is secretive (due to his competitive nature) and does not easily speak of himself. If pushed on it…well, hope you have a good reason or can ease it out of him. Otherwise, be prepared to pay for it, as he does not take kindly to anyone who tries to push him.

To the few he trusts, he’s more open, in a sense. In honest, he will treat them less as friends, more as conspirators. Those who will not stab him in the back if he shows them just how ruthless he is. His charm doesn’t disappear entirely, of course, its simple more (to use colloquial terms) savage. A friendly, playful savage.
biography
Alexander grew up doing his best. Best at what you might ask? Well, whatever helped him and his family. His father and mother were good people; hard working and everything. They always believed that working hard enough would get them farther in life.

It…didn’t exactly work out.

At the age of 10, Alexander started conning. And fairly majority, to be honest. No one suspected the ten year old to swipe your wallet, as long as you were in the right side of town (namely, the part where people were too rich to care). He didn’t stop at any time, oh no. Stealing was something he became quite adept at. Though, he did get much, much better at it. Granted, at 16 years old, his move from stealing to blackmailing wasn’t one of choice, but of requirement.

See, one day, he was doing his regular pickpocketing stuff. Lifted a wallet or two. He was in the middle of tossing them when the er…victims came by. Not very happy victims either. Alex could hear them coming up the street to the alley where he was. With nowhere to run, Alex could only hide and wait as the men came by. They searched the alleyway, got so far as to breathing down his neck, yet they still didn’t grab him.

It was after this that Alex learned of his powers moved from pickpocketing to blackmailing, selling information and extorting so his family could continue living. He’s still learning, and although his information gathering is quite good, his negotiations are…not so much as to lenient, but a little too harsh.
powers
Primary: Ghost Physiology
Alex’s body (and whatever he is touching) enters an ethereal form. While in this form, Alex is both invisible and can pass through solid objects. If in contact with an object (people included) before he becomes a ‘ghost’, he can turn them ethereal as well. Objects and people still function as if they were not ethereal (for example, a camera would still take photos, although without flash nor sound. However, items such as a fan would not be able to blow wind affect the material world). Losing contact with Alexander results in immediate loss of the ethereal nature and appearing in the real world again. After he drops something, Alexander must return fully to human form before he can make them ethereal again.

While in this form, Alex has no method of contacting the human world, as they cannot hear or see him. Any item he is in contact with also fail to affect the material world. However, he can hear and see the world around him, similar to looking at people through a one-way mirror.

If Alex attempts to return to his human form while inside another object (say a wall), the item with lower mass will be shoved aside. Reforming inside a wall would result in Alex being shoved into the nearest empty space. Reforming while in a person usually shoves them aside sharply.

There is no limit to how long Alex can remain ethereal. However, if he falls asleep, it is entirely possible for him to fall through the Earth. So he tries not to sleep while intangible. Its hard to spend an hour or two floating back through the Earth, molten crust and all, to get to school on time.

Limits:
-Intangibility goes both ways. He can’t touch others, they can’t touch him.
-There is a limit to the additional mass he can ‘etherealize’ (Equal to how much he can carry and how he carries it. Currently: 70 kg)
-His powers, so far, cannot be limited to just one part of his body. If he wants to become ethereal, he must change his entire body.
-Though it may already be somewhat clear, while intangible, other intangible objects will affect him (Hence why he can carry a camera or other objects).

Breaking Points:
-If electrically shocked while in human form, Alex is locked out of his ethereal form for at least a minute. Small shocks, such as brushing hands with someone and having small amounts of static electricity pass, also count.

Patrick O'Malley

Millenium City, NY

general data

Full Name: Patrick O'Malley

Age: 17

Sex: Male

Date of Birth: 02/29/2000

Height: 5'9" | Weight: 160lbs

Hair Color|Style|Length: Brunette / Gelled / Short

Written Appearance: A fairly sturdy build for his age, Patrick has a far bit of muscle, hard and toned from years playing rugby, not to mention the odd physical labor he's made to do to help support the family. His clothes are fairly old and worn, looking as though they'd been passed down to him. He typically wears blue jeans, though the shirt varies with his mood, but the faded leather jacket he wears is a constant; he's rarely ever seen without it. But where his clothing sees little care or effort, his hair is always carefully managed, and even in the worst of times, he keeps it clean and neat.
Patrick's face is lean and sharp, as much a consequence of a hard life as is his form. He routinely wears a serious expression, garnering him a reputation from those who don't know better as grumpy, and his forehead is regularly furrowed. But it doesn't take much to break that facade when he's around friends, and his eyebrows raise constantly in laughter and joy.

personality
Patrick does his best to live for the good times and look past the bad. This general optimism has gathered a decent social circle about him, despite his relative newness to Millennium City and his fairly introverted nature. He would perhaps rather be alone or with a handful of friends, sharing a joke or rough housing, but even with a crowd he strives for at least a smile, and he always seeks to be uplifting.
Perhaps too much so. Patrick can be too quick to excuse a wrongdoing, to give mercy where perhaps a strong hand was better suited, and while he will not take a physical beating, he routinely takes emotional ones, even going so far as to suggest to others experiencing the same that it isn't worth the fight.

Strengths:
*Mental / Emotional:
+ Encouraging
+ Optimistic
+ Forgiving
*Physical:
+ Strong
+ Excellent memory
Flaws:
*Mental / Emotional:
- Nonconfrontational
- Self-demeaning
- Resentful
*Physical:
- Slightly malnourished
- Clumsy
biography

Patrick was born in the Old Country, the only child of a pair of hard working Irish dock workers. They were poor, routinely lacking in even the most basic of necessities, and the generosity of strangers came little enough. Yet Mr. O'Malley was a proud man, and refused handouts.
It was perhaps for altruistic reasons, at least as concerned his family, that old man O'Malley became involved in the Irish Republican Army. His work with them brought a far better income, and his position as a dock worker made him a prime agent for the IRA. But such things don't last, and in time the O'Malleys had to flee the law. He old man cursed the police, blaming their work for their sudden plight. The family crossed the Atlantic in 2011, creeping about New York City and the surrounding area and making as best a living as they could. Eventually they found their way to Millennium City, where Patrick was enrolled in high school.
But Mr. O'Malley never forgot nor forgave those in his past, and he turned to drink to drown his pain and the feelings of failure. The alcohol loosened the Irish beast within him, and his anger was regularly directed at Patrick, available as he was for a beratement for whatever his father was angry about. And Patrick learned to bear it, keeping quiet and bearing the harsh judgements patiently. It was only in school that Patrick could feel like himself, and in the rugby program especially. Yet even there he couldn't shake the shadow of his unhappy father, and Patrick avoided social conflict at all cost.
It was his sophomore year that he met Sapphire. She was full of life and energy and fire, and though he was intimidated by her at first, he began encouraged by her spirit. They became friends, and eventually began dating. Patrick felt himself become week by week more confident, finding eventually the moral strength to stand up to a physical fight in the face of unfair odds.
Yet he still can't shake his fear of vocal confrontation and argument, and for all his physical strength, he recoils at any emotional push back.

powers
Patrick's powers won't awaken, for lack of a better term, for some time yet. The seed has been planted, as it were; it merely needs the push.
When it does, Patrick will be able to open what he refers to as Gates. Appearing as a pair of golden discs of light of varying size that hang in the air through his will, they connect two points in space, effectively creating a kind of wormhole through which a person or object can travel. Yet it's instantaneous, in actuality being the direct connection of those two points of space via the Gates. In later years, Patrick will be able to bear the mental strain of sending hundreds and even thousands of pounds of mass through the Gates. But for the purpose of this RP, it will be fairly limited, bearing only a two or three people at a time at most without breaking under the strain and falling unconscious.
Patrick also gains a perfect photographic memory many years later in life, this particular power taking far longer to manifest than his Gates. It isn't relevant to this RP.
Limits: Patrick is limited as to where he can mentally project his Gates by the location he can project in his mind. The more clear the sight picture, the easier that projection. Functionally, this means a Gate is relagated (HAH!) to sight distance only: the closer the spot he wants to project one of his two Gates, the easier.
But it is limited by his mental picture, not necessarily what he can strictly see. This means that Patrick could feasibly conjure a Gate based on the recent memory of a given location. The more recent the memory, the easier the projection. But this comes with its own set of issues. Locations change, and even the best memory is fallible at even the best of times. Concerning the former, if Patrick tries to project a Gate into what has since become a solid object, even partially, it would mean terrible mental struggle on his part and death or grave injury to whomever went through the gate. Concerning the latter, as memory fades, his mind would attempt to fill the gaps. This could prove extremely hazardous to himself, as he could be trying to project a Gate into a place that doesn't precisely exist as imagined. At best the mental strain of that exercise could leave him with a splitting migraine for a week. At worst, he could enter a coma, possibly dying as a result.
Breaking Points: See above.

Cassandra 'Cassia' Muninn

Millennium City, New York

general data

Full Name: Cassandra Muninn

Age: 21

Sex: Female

Date of Birth: September 29th, 1995

Height: 5'9" | Weight: 132lbs

Hair Color|Style|Length: Black|Straight|Long

Written Appearance A slender, pliable figure who moves as gently as the wind, quietly as the wisp. A weak figure, she stands - nonetheless - at an impressive 5'9", although poor posture and a thin layer of baby fat (a product of sub-par, limited dietary choice) somewhat lessens the effect of her stature. However, being long of leg often allows her to stride forth with a cool, purposeful confidence.

She is pale to near sickly, with delicate features more androgynous than outright feminine. Dark lashes, hair, and eyes offer a striking contrast to porcelain skin. Her visage is typically one of nonchalant calm, dispassionate and aloof.

Her wardrobe is almost entirely black - as devout as she is, she nonetheless must admit a fascination for the Grim Reaper figure. Her long overflowing choice of black garment is a testament to this.

personality
“My God is a godly one.”

Cassia’s defining feature, perhaps, is her devotion to God (of the Judeo-Christian variety). Peculiarly, her devout nature seemingly does not compel her to any sort of moral fiber (and also not the very extreme opposite spectrum of zealous immorality). She believes her God is kind and cruel in equal measure, and thusly has a pliable nature. Endlessly dishonest - both to others and herself - manipulative, and selfish - these are primarily symptomatic of her belief in a God who pulls the strings, removing agency - and therefore moral obligation - from her own self.

Despite all of this, Cassia fundamentally prefers to see the Good side of her God, as opposed to the Cruel, preferring sweet over bitter, and comedy over tragedy. She is, perhaps to her own distress, more empathetic than her actions indicate, with a desire to do good… but lacking, in her mind, the fundamental element to do so. This, sadly, causes her to live on each day with more and more regret, perhaps subverting her own belief in God's agency trumping her own.

Strengths: Survivalist, cunning, steadfast. (Talent/Physical: remarkable dancer, dexterous)
Flaws: Manipulative, alienating, selfish, regretful, dwells. (Talent/Physical: malnourished, physically weak)
biography
As the saying goes, one belongs to New York instantly, regardless of station, race or birth; the bourgeoisie and the disenfranchised alike finding themselves congealed within the melting pot. The implication, to some, is New York as the Holy City, a Mecca, brimming with a godly energy. To walk the streets of New York - glancing at one’s reflection through stained-glass storefronts, fogged over by the steam of communion hot dogs, 100% beef dipped in holy water - was to kowtow before God. To sit upon traffic jammed taxi cabs was the very essence of contemplative prayer; indeed, the most powerful places of prayer in this known world surely must be red lights and crowded intersections.

Cassia Muninn was the three hundred and seventy-eighth most holy of her graduating class, the forty-fifth most devout delinquent on Houston Street, whose tributes to God were ice crystal and hashish. She did not believe in God the being, rather she believed in God the kaleidoscope. She believed in God as the mirror in front of which her mother and her played dress-up. Likewise, she believed in God as the fragmented shards of their shattered house window, interlaced with the bullets and the blood of her parents; and she believed in God as the tinted glass of the car that had sped by. She believed in God as the most kind, but reviled him as cruel in his own way, saw him as whip-bearing overseer, yet also the water-carrier at the end of the desert.

But most importantly, she believed in God as New York, and Cassia belonged to God just as much as she belonged to New York, the concrete jungle, the crystal cave, the blooded desert, and the wine oasis. She was a slave to the whims of God, and to the red, yellow, and green lights upon that New York Intersection. And this, truly, was what, for seemingly eternities, had set her free.

So she lived her days out, watching those who lost themselves in New York, who found themselves in New York, or who had found New York just to lose themselves. And Cassia, who stood vigil at the Intersection, shepherded those who, like her, were lost and alone, offering them sustenance in sacred needle and crystal snow. They called her ‘Dealer’, and her disciples ‘Fiends’, base criminals and junkies. But Cassia believed she was enlightened for she still believed in God as both kind and evil; and she sought to emulate Him, offering shelter to the downtrodden, but stealing from those outside the flock.

Eventually, it was unclear, even to Cassia herself, if she believed that God would forgive her the dichotomy, or if God meant for her to act as such, or even if it was God himself who had acted, using her body as conduit. Yet, within the unclarity was happiness - she was the Shepherd, Keeper of the Weak, and she cared for the poor folk of Millennium City, of New York, serving as both a hand of God’s protection, and a hand of God’s cruelty.

But she was wrong, you see. For New York is not God, New York is Gods. New York is Gods, and Demons, and Devils, and Imps and Monsters, callous, wanton, whimsical, of many a thing greater than the Human. And she… she was not a Hand of God, she was Cassandra Muninn - a once bright and promising child who lost mother and father in a shooting, who became a drug-dealer, who became a thief, a crook, who became base, but never strong, never fit to be the Shepherd. If only the descent of meteors had taught her just how lowly she was - alas, that task was handed to others.

Human traffickers, peddlers of women and children, came in the night, while the Shepherd and the flock were in drug-slumber. Cassia had noticed first, for the crystal and the needle had not touched her, but her skinny, atrophied arms were numb, dull and unresponsive. They took her, just as they took her flock. When she awoke, bound and blindfolded in a rusted crate upon a rusted boat at sea, readers, is when Cassia realised that she had not found freedom through slavery.

Instead, she had found horror through freedom. Because she realised that God was not kind, and God was not cruel. God was not the play-set dress-up mirror that made her so happy when she was young, and God was not the window the bullets had pierced. God did not protect, and God did not torment - Cassia found that God was, simply, unmoving.

And so she, for the first time in her life, truly - truly - prayed.

“Oh… God, I cannot see, and I am cold, and my arms they… barely have the strength to shiver.
I wished... so badly to be your Shepherd, that for years, I had even believed that I was.

I’m not your Shepherd, I am just a girl, alone and desperate and wanting,
And so fucking stupid,
And the worst kind of liar; I lie to myself.

But please, let me save them. Once, for real, just one, actual moment of salvation, no matter how fleeting.
Let me be the shepherd.”

After she prayed, she wept - wept so intensely that the moisture in her throat dissipated, that she felt herself desperately begging for water. All the while, the world around her and the vessel shook, yet she wept all the same, convinced that her prayers would go unanswered.

Then it seemed as if Heaven itself turned on its head, as she heard the sound of hungering waves clashing against frightful hull, felt the world spin as the ship keeled over. The screams of their captors rang in Cassia’s ears as they began to sink; and she thought to herself, finally, that perhaps God was kind.

She awoke, alone, upon the surface of the water. The ship, nowhere to be found, captors and flock alike taken by the depths. Her heart sank as she accepted… her God’s kindness was never without cruelty. Only this time, the revelation did not set her free.

She was not the Shepherd.
powers
Cassia is a hydrokinetic, able to create, shape and manipulate water. She is also able to manipulate other liquids, although it requires significantly more concentration, as the chemical makeup is significantly different. Furthermore, she is able to alter water in between states (vapor, solid), although she typically loses control of the water once its state has been changed.

Strengths: - Despite her inexperience with hydrokinesis, the power she’s been blessed with seems to have a surprising amount of intuitiveness to it, enabling her to manipulate and move water efficiently and quickly.

- Cassia furthermore has a certain intuition when it comes to changing state and even properties of water. As of this moment, Cassia is able to efficiently change the temperature of water, and is able to cause water to become sticky, and viscous, although her control over the latter is clumsy, slow, and impractical to use on the fly.

- Finally, some aspects of her hydrokinesis seem to be subconscious. The subconscious aspects appear to be primarily represented in two ways; 1) subconscious moving of water to allow for easy swimming/floating and 2) subconscious manipulation of water to prevent drowning.

Weaknesses: - While Cassia is somewhat prodigious at the more nifty aspects of hydrokinesis, pure force is not her forte. While she can move water, she is unable to propel it at speeds forceful enough to cause kinetic harm.

- Along those lines, sheer mass is an issue for her as well. At any one moment she is only able to create about a bottle’s worth of water. From a pre-existing body of water, Cassia can manipulate an amount roughly equivalent in size to the average person. (Naturally, this means that the feat performed in her Biography is essentially a one-off, caused by a particularly stressful trigger event).

- Creation of water itself is an involving process, requiring high amounts of concentration to perform, and with a time requirement perhaps not worth the yield.

Natural Progression: In prime state, Cassia will likely increase in speed/efficiency of creation and manipulation, as well as amount controlled and manipulated. Furthermore, she may find, through experimentation, some more quirky things she can do with water; altering taste and color, for example. One of her core developments will likely involve being able to agitate water particles to the point that they become usable as veritable razorblades, weapons create-able on a whim.

She is not however, likely to ever re-create the huge ship-capsizing tidal wave - her potential lies in versatility and clever utility, while her frail form and below-average constitution mean that sheer power and potency is outside her future.

Austin

San Antonio, TX

general data

Full Name: Austin Sorenson

Age: 20

Sex: Male

Date of Birth: March 26th, 1997

Height: | Weight: 5'11, 168 lbs.

Hair Color|Style|Length: Austin's hair is a mangled mess of auburn curls that stylistically emulate a helmet-head aesthetic. Though he washes and condishions his hair regularly, he's not the sort to really care much either about how it looks, or about how it's styled. The curled fringes detract some from the length, but at maximum length, the hair on his head travels as far as the nape of his neck, over his ears, and beyond his eyebrows.

Written Appearance:

In terms of clothing, Austin is what one might call a hoodie connoisseur: he has an impressive repetoir of stylish hoodies in his belongings, and enjoys the comfort and ease for which they provide. He has no preference for pants nor shoes, and will wear any combinaiton of sneakers, shorts, or jeans he can find or afford. He also adorns a small copper watch on his right wrist, which is the only piece of moderately flashy equipment he owns.

Arguably the most striking elements of his physical appearance exist in his visage: Austin's irises are a cloudy grey, though he always preferred to imagine they were green. They do often catch the attention of others, however, and undoubtedly add a rare pop to an otherwise unremarkable featureset. Unlike his sharp eyes, the boy's smile is disarmingly goofy: its just a bit crooked to the right side, and often is described conservatively as a toothy grin.

Though he wouldn't consider himself particularly self-conscious, Austin rarely shows his teeth when he smiles and this is especially obvious when he's been photographed. Given his lackadaisical attitude towards self-grooming, Austin will gladly forgo haircuts for three to four months at a time, and will only sit in a barber's chair under extreme duress. Nonetheless, with the exception of basic cleaning tools, he makes no extreme effort to change up the same hair-style he's had since he was twelve. Hell, he barely brushes the thing.

His skin is a tanned peach color, and though its relatively smooth, some parts of his skin are more dense and calloused than others. There is little else about his body that would be considered an abnormality. However, the most intimate and perceptive of associates would notice a set of faded, inch-length cuts along his fingertips, and one peculiar scar cut just beneath his left shoulder.

personality
Though he spends a fair deal of his free time alone, Austin has never really been a fan of introspection. When asked to describe his personality to others, he usually makes up some run-of-the-mill, flippant response about being a decent person, reliable friend, and normal guy. Truthfully, he isn't far off. There is a strength to not being as ostentatious as the movers and shakers, and yet more charismatic than the wallflowers. He makes friends easily enough, but is rarely the first to initiate a conversation and is far more comfortable being addressed and led by others than he is being the one to take initiative. After all, it's easy to not be disappointed when your goals really aren't ever yours to begin with.

In some ways, Austin's steadfast service to others is both a boon and a curse. Anyone would be remiss to call him selfish, and often even total strangers can elicit his trust--or at the very least his assistance. The drawback to his unyielding desire to be of use to his friends is, of course, that Austin never truly grasps for anything of his own. That's not to say he doesn't have his own dreams--he has many, in fact--but you wouldn't know it unless you forced him to speak about it.

In fact, Austin is so malleable that he was once described as the vanilla ice-cream of people: he's universally palatable, but can be colored and flavored in a hundred different ways to meet the needs of whomever he is trying to impress. After all, the only thing he truly resents--and fears even--is the prison of isolation, and he'd do anything to prove himself worthy of companionship to that end alone. He’s neither the bravest, funniest, nor prettiest, but if there was one trait above all that breaks the submissive mold of his personality from time to time, it would be his will. When Austin makes up his mind to pursue something (which, admittedly, is rare) there are few obstacles he lets get in his way. In fact, more than a few friends have voiced their surprise at how uncharacteristically driven he becomes the moment they see him truly go after something.
biography

Calling Austin’s childhood unorthodox is a terrible understatement. Born as the single son of two perpetually-busy travel agents, the boy lived in more exotic locales in the first five years of his life than many people visit in their entire lifetime. Nonetheless, his parents believed in a strong education for their boy, and would enroll him in the best schooling they could afford at every stop. In the beginning, a young Austin grappled with the drawbacks of an antsy lifestyle, but in time travel made him independent.

Though proud of their son, the two Sorensons suffered through a mounting dread which was only compounded in the boy’s teen years when he began to question the frequency with which they often uprooted their lives. Their profession lent itself to a transient lifestyle, but even they pushed that boundary and their son had figured as much out on his own. Thankfully, their busy lifestyle never really seemed to bother the boy, and for that they were grateful. At fourteen, he was sent away to a boarding school on the East Coast to continue his education—an idea he proposed himself to which his parents readily encouraged. Austin had found a passion for travel not unlike his parents, but the busy and fleeting nature of his home life had made him ambitious for relationships outside of his family sphere that he could maintain for once.

His schooling abroad had begun well enough. Freedom was tempered with responsibility, but friendships were fast and—for the first time—tenured for as long as he was enrolled. These were easily the best times of his life, and it was here that Austin broke through his unintentional predisposition to write off relationships with strangers as temporary and useless things. In fact, Austin--who had always been a good student--quickly found that he was excelling in his coursework in a way he hadn't been previously. Where before he would work alone, he was now able to bounce ideas and research off of his peers and fellows. Moreover, he had transitioned from something of a sedentary lifestyle to a healthier, more active one as well through a combination of leisurely exploration and a mild dabbling in various after-school sports and activities.

In particular, Austin had become a fan of hiking. Luckily for him, the small Connecticution town where his school existed encapsulated many areas abundant with undeveloped forests, hidden creeks, and wide fields. Austin's only real after-school commitment quickly became the hiking club as he grew more and more enamored with the wild spaces he couldn't find back home.

At the end of his senior year, Austin decided to return home and delay his pursuit of a college education to instead take a leap year of his own. It was his plan to leave home just a little ways after his graduation so that he might travel to those rare parts of the world the Sorensons hadn't yet taken him to, and his dream to one day become something of a renowned explorer himself.

powers
Austin has developed the power of typhokinesis. More simply put, Austin possesses the ability to shape, alter, and move smoke to his whim. Though he can perform his abilities on smoke in the natural world, he is not limited to those resources, and can generate his own from the altered state of his dermis layer. In this case though, the particulate matter is not ash, soot or tar but rather an organic compound released from the surface of his skin. In terms of alteration, he's incapable of fundamentally changing the chemical composition of any smoke he finds, but he can focus his abilities to a point so as to rapidly increase the density of smoke particulate in a localized range. Naturally, he can perform the inverse and expand and disseminate it as well.

Strengths:

There is a sly strength to Austin's talents. It's not an aggressive power to be sure, but his abilities are often most advantageous when used as a means of escape. The sudden appearance of a rolling smoke cloud where there would otherwise be none isn't discrete, but it is helpful in obscuring outside vision on large surface areas.

As it stands, Austin can really only move and shape whatever volume he finds or creates, but if he really needs some offensive capability, he can temporarily delay or (if he's facing a particularly unlucky asthmatic) incapacitate pursuers by inducing targeted coughing fits. In time, Austin plans to continue training himself to be more effective with targeted smoke bursts as opposed to wide-sweeping, spray-and-pray tactics.

Weaknesses:

It is, after all, smoke. Austin has no means--and never will have the means--to alter its formless state. It is and always will be a gaseous mass of airborne solids and liquids no matter what Austin may desire. Though he can increase the density of the particulate in a cloud smoke, it would require far too fine a concentration (and far too long an experiment) to even produce a pin-prick of adhered, solid mass. Anyone within striking range of Austin will find him a rather easy target to hit.

Though he suffers less when utilizing already-present material, Austin's ability to produce his own material is limited. The matter that makes up his own's smoke's particulate comes from beneath his epidermus, and is a byproduct of the powers he received. Through a rapid reaction not dissimilar to pyrolysis, he emits this matter among other byproducts, and is limited in the volume that he can personally create as a result. Like a battery, Austin needs time and rest to replenish the decomposed material in earnest. To attempt this process without the necessary recuperation would do nothing but provide him with an uncomfortably hot feeling beneath his skin.

Even when manipulating smoke in the environment, Austin will still suffer fatigue from overuse like any other ability of the mind. The greater the volume he tries to control, the harder it is to maintain any level of control. Once he reaches his breaking point in this regard, he doesn't simply fail to control whatever he is focused upon, but in fact he will lose all control of any controlled volume until he's taken a long rest.

Hang Dao

San Antonio, Texas

general data

Full Name: Hang Bich Dao

Age: 18

Sex: Female

Date of Birth: February 23

Height: 5'3" | Weight: 120 lbs.

Hair Color|Style|Length: long, straight black hair, typically in a high ponytail or bun

Written Appearance: As slender as a willow, Hang has the build of a bird. She has delicate hands, feet, and face, but that is where her gentility ends. Her cheekbones could cut glass. Her eyes are almond-shaped and a deep brown, as dead as mud, and her skin is the color of green tea. Weekly facials by a licenses dermatologists keep her skin radiant. Her body is somewhat toned from going to the gym with a personal trainer, though she is by no means a bodybuilder. Oddly, her arms are quite bulky and buff from hours holding a shotgun, plying her sport at the shooting range. When she isn't wearing the latest style -- usually costing in the hundreds of dollars -- she's lounging around in a Juicy Couture sleep suit. She walks with grace, she talks with confidence, and she will cut you up if you don't watch what you say.

personality
There's no telling what she would have been like had her history not turned out as it did, but as it stands, there's not much else to say for it. Hang Dao is a massive, irredeemably angry itch with a capital B. Her demeanor is frosty, her delivery is stone cold, and she could peel paint off a house by glaring. If she smells even a whiff of weakness, she attacks it with the unrelenting cruelty of a cat. It's obvious that she enjoys putting other people down, but to what purpose is not known. Hang is used to getting her way, and when she doesn't, she usually reacts negatively -- which is putting it lightly.

That said, Hang can make nice if she's forced to. Usually, she just has to mention the money she's got in the bank and the amount of stuff she's willing to buy you, and the sycophants come rolling in. In reality, underneath the layers of anger, pettiness, and dumpster fire personality, Hang is actually very lonely, but she's not quite sure how to express this loneliness or make other people feel welcome.

Perhaps the only positive traits she possesses right now are her level-headedness and determination. When Hang sees something she wants, she goes after it with both hands and feet, bar money, lawsuit, or danger. She isn't afraid to dive in to get what she wants, or to get dirty either, and in a way that's almost admirable.
biography
Hang's life started fairly decently. More than decent, actually. Her parents were both doctors who emigrated to the US from Vietnam, taking her mother's two brothers with them. There, her parents began a clinic which quickly became quite lucrative in Houston, and before long the family was investing in other Asian businesses in the area, including Uncle Duc's grocery business in San Antonio. Hang's parents were attentive, if a little emotionally shut, and they ensured that she had the best education money had to offer, anything she could ever want, and more. For all intents and purpose, Hang was loved.

And then, the car crash. Both parents, coming back from a trip to see Uncle Bo, killed when an oncoming car crossed lanes in traffic in a head on collision. Hang was seven years old.

Her life changed from that moment. She was immediately sent to live with her Uncle Duc, her mother's youngest brother, while he took care of the finances from her mother and father's estate. Duc had no wife or children of his own, and so Hang was somewhat lonely. Things perhaps would have been fine there if not for the fact that Duc took the opportunity to be a bit more friendly than he ought with his then-7-year-old niece. It quickly became the new norm for Hang, who had no one to run to. She had been uprooted from her school, her family, and her life.

Hang adapted. Duc gave her anything she wanted, anything at all, though often those things came with a price. Hang learned to pay that price, and pay it in full, and so she takes solace in her many, many, many things. People often only want what she has, and she's grown accustomed to assuming that people only want her for what she can bring them. Hang has embraced this fully, and she knows she has a captive audience willing to put up with her needling and cutting for the sake of her money, and in a way she considers it poetic justice.
powers
Biomanipulation-- this ability is somewhat two-fold. Her body now has chromatophores, which allow her skin to change color with her surroundings as well as generate colors that wouldn't normally be present in her skin,as well as germ line cells that act as "material" to work with in terms of manipulation. The other ability is complete control over the growth and movement of her flesh, from growing bones to manipulating her skin to forming fangs. However, this is not done lightly. The more she changes, the harder it is to revert back to a human form, as her biomanipulation does not have a "natural" state -- she is what she is unless she deliberately undoes her transformations. Generally,
the "deeper" into her body she changes, the harder it is to change. Her skin is the easiest to control and functions much like an octopus's skin, changing texture and color, though getting the right texture and color of course takes practice.

Take note -- she can only change what already exists. She can expand her lung capacity, but she cannot grow gills. She can lengthen her bones and grow thicker hair, but she cannot suddenly sprout wings (not unless she starts getting creative). The germline cells can only help so much.

However, her abilities are strongly connected with her emotions. Quite simply, her "insides" start to match her "outsides", and under a significant amount of stress or emotional turmoil (plus a heartbeat edging over 180 bpm) she begins a total transformation into a beastly creature, over which she has no control. Exhaustion seems to be the only way to get her attention after this point, and perhaps a good talking-to is in order -- if you can avoid the gorilla arms and long claws.

Evan Rowell

Millenium City, New York

general data

Full Name: Evan Rowell

Age: 20

Sex: male

Date of Birth: January 5, 1997

Height: 5'9"| Weight: 140 lbs.

Hair Color|Style|Length:
Dark brown, messy and and curly. It reaches just past the nape of his neck, and sometimes down to his eyebrows when he doesn't push it out of the way.

Written Appearance:
Evan usually wears a blazer and scarf in the colder weather of mid-winter. He wears skinny jeans in dark colors, black or dark blue, along with a long-sleeved shirt. On his feet he wears boots or shoes, as the weather permits. Evan is not muscular, but lean, almost thin.

personality

Evan is icy to others, even those who were his friends before Evelyn's loss, although he tries to soften this with for politeness' sake. He can't find it in himself to be happy for any reason whatsoever, although with his newly-given powers, he's torn between trying to be philanthropic with these, or remain sequestered within his own mind.

The memory of Evelyn is still too fresh in his mind, and she will likely remain a heavy burden upon him for a long time to come, affecting his relationships with thoughts of inadequacy, weakness, and failure.
Apart from his desire to remain aloof, Evan is nonetheless remarkably empathetic to others. He saw how his sister suffered, both physically and emotionally, during her sickness, and he can see how others are hurting too.

Strengths:
Evan is protective of and sensitive toward anyone who's managed to get close to him, thinking that they are the next target for somebody's ire, which is more or less close to the mark. He prefers this over the wisps of Evelyn's personality that sneak in from time to time; he'd rather focus on anything else. Evan is conscientious of himself, but perhaps less inclined to have patience with others for that part.

Flaws:
Evan feels weak and powerless, especially since his parents take out their own suffering on him from time to time, by berating and coercing him to 'get over it'. Evan doesn't believe he's worth anything alone, and this makes him want to lash out in words sometimes, instead of keeping a cool head. He also appears to be absent-minded as he works, sometimes neglecting his job's tasks, but not due to his own intention.

biography

Evan never used to be so withdrawn. In his younger days, he enjoyed the company of his family, his twin sister Evelyn, and his classmates. This all changed during his third year of high school, for it was that year that his sister was diagnosed with an advanced type of acute leukemia. She had always been one for bruises and cuts, but nobody had ever recognized any symptoms of the disease. Now, Evan's world began to fall apart around him.

First, there was the all-too-common case of misunderstanding, distrust, and fear of the unknown. Evelyn's school friends left her midway into the school semester, the same year she began chemotherapy treatment for her disease. Evan saw that she felt abandoned and hurt at school and at home, and tried to do his best to cheer her up in his own ways. For a time, it seemed to be working, even as the leukemia progressed. Evan never forgave the people who left his sister during the time she needed them most. He never forgot their names.

When the twins graduated high school, he chose not to attend college immediately. His family needed the financial support he could bring in, especially to help pay for Evelyn's steadily growing medical bills. And so, he took on a number of odd jobs over the next two years. Finding employment as a janitor, a baker, and a warehouse worker, Evan put his heart into it, trusting that he was helping to make a difference. And, for a while, he seemed content. Unfortunately, Evelyn's leukemia was one day found to have progressed too far, even in spite of the numerous treatments and medicines.

The day was December 30, 2016. The time was five o'clock in the afternoon. Underneath a rumbling grey sky, Evan silently shut the warehouse door, turned the key in its lock, and walked away through a growing wind. Unseeingly, Evan passed before a shop window crammed with New Years' fireworks and other supplies, stacked amid remnants of Christmas goodies. He looked up to cross the street, and blinked. Directly across was a coffee shop that had been Evelyn's favorite to visit. Evan stared for a moment, then turned about and headed in a decidedly different direction.

Descending a steep hill as he entered through the west side of town, Evan could see the steeple of the church on the far east side, but he couldn't or didn't see the festive air of those surrounding him. It was all too much; too much, too many reminders, too much feeling. Evan didn't want to think or feel anything except ice-cold. It was still too soon.

Nearly an hour later, the soft click of a turned handle echoed through the antechamber of the steeplechased church, as Evan entered its foyer. Passing silently through the halls, he paused for a moment before a particular exit, breathing heavily. He quickly pushed through the door, and came upon the standing headstones of a graveyard. Resolutely, Evan ignored them all except for one, a smaller stone, set on its own in the shade of an evergreen cluster. Upon the stone, the words could be read: "Evelyn Rowell. 1997-2016. Rest without pain."

Fighting to keep the tears away, Evan sat crosslegged upon the frozen ground before the headstone. The image of his twin sister came to him again and again, for all the times she had been happy, or worried, or laughing, or struggling, or in need. Evan wished again with all his heart that he could have done something to take her pain away, so now he wouldn't have to live with his own. It wasn't fair that he should be healthy and she should be gone. They were supposed to have a happy life together, twins in a glorious world. And now... that happy life had been stolen from him.

Shivering, Evan rose from his spot some time later, as the wind picked up and the sky grew ever darker. He left the church, stopping only to purchase a hot packaged meal from a corner store on his way toward a certain forested hill overlooking the town. Evan ate his meal on a picnic table here as the evening marched onward, and streetlights flickered to life. He guessed that it was nearing midnight, on the day before New Years' Eve. Evan simply couldn't return home tonight, where a Christmas tree was still up, with presents labeled "To Evelyn" set beneath it. She'd never had the chance to open them, having to stay in the hospital all the way to the end.

Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Evan stood and approached the overlook's fenced edge, gazing up into the now-clear sky. When had the clouds disappeared? The moon could be seen far above, brightly shining, and reflecting off a half-frozen river quite a ways at the base of the cliffside overlook. Evan frowned, and muttered to himself, stooping to scoop some frozen snow. He flung this into the sky, and it arced down gracefully. Evan repeated the motion again and again, speaking louder each time.

"Fuck off, space egg."
"Fuck off, space egg."
"Fuck off, space egg!"

Evelyn had died on Christmas Day, 2016. Evan was called back to work the day after, and a funeral service held that evening. His mourning period had by no means been long enough. For that reason, Evan had spent the last week doing the same actions he'd done tonight. It did little to help him emotionally, but he saw nothing better to do than howling at the moon.

"Fuck off, space egg!!"

The sky was strangely cloudless, for New York in winter. Stars were beginning to come out, twinkling in the early night sky. Above the city, the stars could be seen much easier.

"Fuck off, space egg!!"

There was a strange cluster of sparkles in the sky, moving ever so slightly across Evan's field of vision. He couldn't care less.

"Fuck off, space egg!!!"

It was too far; with this last throw, Evan's feet slipped in the snow, too near the cliff's edge. He crashed into the weak chain-link fence barrier, tumbling and careening down the cliffside, head over heels. He felt several hard impacts on his elbows and his legs, and a rock struck his head, blurring his vision. Several seconds later, Evan's body halted in a crumpled heap on the bank of the frozen river. Weakly, he tried to keep his eyes open, just long enough to see the onset of several streaks of light across the sky. A meteor shower, he thought, before slipping out of consciousness. Evelyn would have loved that.

In the morning, Evan opened his eyes, unharmed, to his astonishment. He was still lying upon the cold riverbank, and could not understand what had taken place. Why wasn't he injured, or dead, even? His clothes still showed signs of tearing, and so he headed home to offer a weak explanation of where he'd been overnight to his parents, before changing and heading to work once again. Subsequent inspection and experimentation over the next fortnight would give Evan insight to his new powers. He still has not come to terms with Evelyn's death, although the chance at a new, strange life with his powers could perhaps begin to help him heal, with time.

powers

Powers:
Evan's primary powers are the ability to absorb the wounds and injuries of others, and to rapidly regenerate and heal wounds upon his own person. He needs to touch the wound for a few seconds in order to absorb it, and transfer it to himself.
Strengths:
With uninterrupted contact, Evan can heal flesh wounds and minor injuries in a matter of seconds. This causes pain to Evan as he absorbs the wounds, but it is quickly healed by his regeneration. With focus, even larger injuries can be remedied, although this causes more pain and takes longer time. Even if Evan takes a wound to an important part of his body (head, heart, etc.) it will regenerate, although he may be incapacitated for this duration. This is not to say that he's immortal; sustained damage will, of course, prove fatal.
Weaknesses:
Currently, Evan must maintain direct physical contact with anything he wishes to use his powers upon, be it a living being or an inanimate object. At this time, Evan can only absorb and regenerate from bodily injuries such as cuts, broken bones, and the like; he cannot cure illness, disease, or cancers, nor can he affect completely missing limbs or organs.
The time it takes Evan to absorb or regenerate from a wound increases as its severity does. If he breaks direct physical contact with his target, both he and his target will have partial wounds until he can finish the transferal.
Growth:
As Evan grows stronger and develops his powers, he will be able to absorb and regenerate from wounds more quickly, perhaps even becoming able to heal wounds faster than he can absorb them, cutting down on the pain he experiences himself. Additionally, direct contact will not be required forever. Evan may also be able to transfer wounds in reverse; causing wounds to be displaced directly and instantaneously from his body onto another's, although this would be strenuous and not be done often.

Joan Ardent

San Antonio, Texas

general data

Full Name: Joan Riley Ardent

Age: 19

Sex: Female

Date of Birth: November 23rd, 1997

Height: 5'7"| Weight: 124 lb

Hair Color|Style|Length: Pale blonde|Thick and curly|Mid-back

Written Appearance: Joan stands with a straight back and overall good posture to make full use of her height. Her curly blonde hair usually hangs loose around her head, though she also likes to put it in a tight bun on occasion. Her large eyes are a dark green and have a curious, inquisitive look to them, often looking intently at everyone and everything. She has a lean, naturally athletic build, though a lack of regular exercise has made her slightly skinny and underweight, and she has unusually pale skin from so much time inside. Her limbs are long and skinny, while her hands and feet are unusually large. She keeps her nails well-trimmed but otherwise plain and chooses to not wear makeup. She typically dresses in loose long-sleeved shirts, worn jeans or cargos, flannels, and sneakers, tending toward shades of green and brown.

personality
Joan is secluded and withdrawn, preferring to spend all of her time by herself in her room or with headphones on, blocking out the world. When pushed into social interaction, she lights up a bit, showing concern, empathy, and kindness to the people she interacts with. However, she is distrusting after realizing most people want to be friends with her for her money, and she tries to avoid getting attached. Despite her efforts, in most cases, she winds up feeling some level of attachment anyway, enough for her to remember the person and the tiny things she learned about them. She often thinks of the people she's met and wonders if she will meet a true friend again.

Joan enjoys fairly nerdy activities, and spends plenty of time playing video games by herself, reading history books, and solving puzzles of various kinds. She's observant and curious, and she tends to pick up random tidbits of information about her environment and store them away, giving her a slight edge on reflexes and problem-solving. She enjoys asking questions, though she generally only asks when she feels a great need to or when there's a person she trusts to ask. When presented with new challenges, Joan will retreat within herself again unless prompted by somebody who she trusts. Currently, that's basically just her family.
biography
Joan is the third child of the wealthy John and Miranda Ardent. She has two older brothers, both of whom have moved out. Joan grew up with everything she needed and most things she wanted. She was honestly slightly spoiled, especially with the attention her brothers showed her. They were very protective of her, and she wound up fairly sheltered as a result. She went to a private school in her teen years, where she routinely got decently high grades.

For a good portion of her life, Joan was extremely outgoing, wanting to socialize with everybody and everyone. She made plenty of friends, and she seemed to nestle into most of the cliques fairly well. She felt like she belonged. However, she only had a couple truly good friends throughout her life. Most people just wanted her money, and when one of her friends moved away and the other ran away from home and basically vanished, she realized for the first time how utterly alone she was. Nobody wanted to talk about the things she cared about, and she never could find anybody else who did. They all just saw a friendly rich girl, not the lonely girl she actually was. And the worst part? Nobody gave a shit about the friend who had run away, who had disappeared.

Eventually, Joan began withdrawing within herself, closing herself off to the people who called themselves her friends and even to her own family. Instead, she spent most of her time at school just studying, and at home, she locked herself inside her room. No matter how many times she tried to contact the friend who had run away, he never answered, and the friend who had moved away grew distant. She's lived her lonely life inside her room for the past year and a half, and she's given up hope her friend's coming back, or even of making more friends.

The meteor shower was a momentous occasion for her family. Her parents managed to get her out of her room at last, and her brothers even paid a visit. They went out together, walking by a lake, laughing and talking. At least, that's what Joan's family did. She spent most of her time silent, staring at her shoes or at the water, wondering why she had to be out here. For that reason, she was the first to notice the meteors. She pointed them out, and her family watched them together. She was oddly comfortable with that. Now, she's begun to venture out of her room more often, socializing with her parents and preparing to go to college.
powers
Joan has the power of plant manipulation. She can manipulate living plants, making them move and grow at will. She requires already existing, living plants to use her powers. Applications of her power include knitting plants together or growing and thickening them to make platforms and barriers, wrapping them around things to reach high places, fetch objects, or ensnare enemies, and easily creating herbal remedies. Currently, however, she's only capable of basic growth and some movement, since she hasn't developed the control for anything more complicated than that. Her powers take energy, especially growing plants, meaning that if she is not careful or tries to do too much, she will become exhausted quickly. As a side-effect, she is resistant to the negative effects of plant-based substances, though she is not immune.

KHALISAH KHOURY-SMITH

San Antonio, Texas

general data

Full Name: Khalisah Khoury-Smith

Nickname: Lisah

Age: 20

Sex: Female

Date of Birth: 08/03/1996

Height: | Weight: 5'7 | 244lbs

Hair Color|Style|Length: Dark Brown | Wavey | Long

Eye Color: Brown

Written Appearance: The first thing anyone would notice about Lisah is her love for colors and outlandish wardrobe. Patterns, cut outs, things with not enough fabric, things with too much, anything is feasible in her mind's eye. Retro or modern, whatever's swinging in trend, she's wearing it. Well, more so, she's making it. She's a curvy girl, more so hippy than anything else, and she's not coy about it. This is her body, and she's owning it. Her long, brown hair is sometimes left down or fixed up, just matters on the weather and if her earrings are big enough. She has a strong face with prominent cheekbones and shapely brows. Her skin is naturally darker, and her eyes a glittering dark brown--nearly black.

She usually stands, hands on hips, with a wild smirk on her lips and a devious twinkle in her eye. Lisah will not back down from a conversation, a timely joke, sarcasm, a very dated reference, gushing about nerd pop culture, or just generally telling you when you need to hop back in your time machine and stop yourself from looking like more-amped-up-Guy-Ferrari. After that she winks.

personality
Let's begin, Lisah is a hot mess. Ta-da. The end, close the curtain, move off stage, and continue on with your sad little life. Alright, fine.

She's the sort of girl from high school that would smoke behind the building but never intensely. It was to flirt with a cute boy she liked, or to get the deets from a friend about another friend. There were always motivations and machinations with her plans. She was in the drama club. While she only ever had a short stint as Anita from West Side Story, even if she did keep reminding them that she was not Latina, she was fully invested. She'd design all the costumes. She had an eye for this sort of things. Colors, patterns, jewelry, symmetry were her religion. While other people saw things and enjoyed them for reasons that their brain just vomited out, Lisah understood it. And following that, was her understanding of the larger picture of things. Which, is not as good as it sounds.

She takes most everything at face value. She judges vehemently, gives that judgment easily, and then moves on with her life. She's most comfortable in a social scene, and even more-so if there's alcohol. Not one for hard drugs, as she says it "dampens her style." She's a fluid more than a solid. She's smart, but that's sometimes dwarfed by the words that come out her mouth. And those few that hold onto her as a friend, well, they're of the strong sort, and she is the lucky one. Her soul as transient as any folk song.

So, it's unfortunate that Lisah can't see her own big picture for all the colors, shapes, and patterns that distract her from it.
biography
What story do you wish to hear? Definitely one more interesting that the life of Khalisah Khoury-Smith. Sure, it gets interesting, eventually, but it sure takes its prescious time getting there.

Lisah was born to a first-generation Lebanese immigrant mother and a millionth-generation American father. It may not have been a match made from love, in the beginning, but it sure blossomed into it. They had two children. Khalisah, per her mother's naming conventions, and Gil, per her father's. They grew up in a small town outside of San Antonio. And unlike popular belief, there were no ranches, horses, or yee-hawing to be found. Her father worked in the advertising branch of an unremarkable sales company, and her mother had a part time job providing hospice care for those needed a stricter hand than the usual kind. And in all of that, Lisah and Gil fought like two children usually do.

And much like siblings, that spent way too much time together, they went entirely opposite directions when it came academics and interests. Lisah was everything art, drama, stupid foreign French Films, obscure sculptures, and smoking because it was cool. Gil was football. Hm. Maybe a bit more than that, but it did consume most of his high school years. Many people didn't even think they were siblings because they were so diametrically opposed. It also didn't help that their names were worlds different, and Gil had inherited his father's paler hair and skin tone. They may not have looked the part, or had the same interests, but they sure did act the part. They always had each other's back, and Lisah knew exactly who to ruin when someone talked shit about her brother.

Yet, their time together was quickly disrupted as Gil got a football scholarship to Texas A&M and moved away. Sure, the family still heard from him, but he was practically in another universe than Lisah. When it was her turn to graduate high school, she put all her effort into art schools and winning scholarships based on her fashion design and makeup effects. Unfortunately, the rest of Texas also wanted in these sorts of schools, and Lisah didn't have the money to buy her way in or the emotional torment to staple a tampon on a white board and call it expressionism. That kid got in.

So, Lisah did what she does best, she just decided to be transient. Which led to a month long bender, which she failed to follow up on any of her other, more stable, colleges, and so she didn't get in. Her parents, livid with her actions, forced her to get a job and move out when she'd made enough money to support herself. Lisah found a job a comic book shop in San Antonio, and shortly there after a roommate and a cramped two-bedroom apartment to split. It wasn't ideal, but it was something. And, bonus points, she got really good dealing with neck beards.
powers
In simple, Lisah has turned into the embodiment of gold, which is not to say that she controls it til the end of eternity and rules over it with an iron--cough, gold--fist. No. She's just able to wield it in many interesting fashions.

Gold Manipulation: Gold a is a malleable metal that is capable of being twisted and bent easily into shapes that other desire. So, it's not without saying that Lisah can control the gold around her to take certain forms, densities, and to move without the rigidity of a stiffer metal.
Limits: She can only use her power within a 20ft radius. After that, the gold becomes inanimate and falls to the ground. Gold is also sensitive to extreme heat and fire, melting and becoming brittle respectively. It is also a conductive metal which can work for or against her favor. She can shock an opponent if she has the means for electricity, or an opponent can shock her.

Chrysopoeia: Basically the "Midas Touch." Lisah can turn whatever she touches into gold, pure gold, and not discernable from the actual metal found in mines.
Limits: Can only use on inanimate objects. Also, the amount of what she is able to turn into gold is based on how long she touches something. Obviously, the longer she does, the larger, or deeper, the area. Currently, this is about an inch a second.

Gold Form: Lisah can turn herself gold, more or less. From there she becomes more resistant to attack, staving off both close ranged and far ranged attacks. And even if there is enough punch behind them, they may go through her given the malleability of the metal. This also allows for her to distort her body to get into hard to reach places, shield others, or generally try to take advantage in a fight. She can also add more gold to her form, but when she reverts back it'll just slough off of her. And yes, all of her is gold, even her membranes, and insides.
Limits: As mentioned before, gold is weak to extreme temperature fluctuations and conducive to electricity. This would damage her further that just manipulating the gold, as it would affect her insides as well. Also, Lisah cannot revert back unless she is in her original shape. Meaning she can be captured in different forms and stuck like that until she can become human-shaped Lisah, again.
