Many years had gone by since the winter spirit Jack Frost and his friends had defeated Pitch Black. The children that had helped the guardians defeat the nightmare king had already grown up, and most of them didn't believe in things like Santa Claus anymore. At some point in their life, they had simply convinced themselves that the night when Pitch attacked had been nothing but a childhood dream. But there was one that still believed, one that didn't let go. But as time flew by even he got kids and a family. There wasn't much time to fool around with a lonely winter spirit. Thus Jamie and Jack grew apart. Even after becoming a guardian, Jack had a hard time gaining believers. His stories wasn't told to the children as widely as the other guardians tales. Few believed in him still, but that didn't stop the mischievous spirit to play around with them. And once he found those who did believe, he enjoyed the moment he got with them over everything else. He rarely saw the guardians since the fall of Pitch, everyone had their own work to do. Toothiana had to keep control over the teeth collecting business, North needed to make sure that everything ran smoothly in the workshop, Sandy needed to spread his dream sand every night, and Bunny.... Well, they might be on better terms than before, but they weren't best friends and non of them could get along if the others weren't around. In the end he mainly just saw them if they met while the others did their work. One afternoon, some hours before the sun would start to go down, Jack was flying towards nowhere in particular. He ended up in a small town which he recognized but probably hadn't been in for many years. His bare feet touched the snow as he landed on the ground. It wasn't cold, at least not to him.
