This brings to mind a system of justice I came up with for an RP. Where you lose whatever rights you violated in your crime, the time based on the severity of your crime.
Steal a loaf of bread and you have to pay back the shopkeeper, you need it.
Steal something you don't need and you forfeit the right to property for a time, everything you own is confiscated, and whatever isn't people can take from you without reprisal.
Kill someone and you forfeit the right to life, this one is obviously perminant. It was to encourage players to commit crimes basically for luls of what they could then do to eachother.
