Creature Creation Challenge
This challenge explores one facet of worldbuilding: creature creation, as the title says. Whether or not you're a worldbuilder, at one point or another, you're bound to create different kinds of flora and fauna for your world. This challenge brings two new things to the table: first, all the submissions for this challenge will be put into a "bestiary" of sorts in the Worldbuilder's Guild which will be a resource for yourself and anyone who needs creatures for their worlds; second, every week, there will be a different difficulty for the challenge.

- build a creature around a specific theme

This Week's Criteria:
Theme: Blood

Feel free to use this following template for your creatures. You can add on to it or remove things from it as you wish or not use it at all.
Name:
Appearance:
Role: Predator/prey/producer
Habitat:
Life-span:
Sentient: Yes/No
Sapient: Yes/No
Means of Sustenance:
Favourite Food Source:
Major Competition:
Mating Rituals: Courtship rituals, mating grounds, mating season, et cetera
Reproduction: you can include period of gestation
Organization: does this creature travel in packs or herds, or is it a solitary creature that only meets with members of its species for the mating season?
Other:

Name: Amorphous Cadaver-Eater.

Code name: UKW-522 (Unknown Specimen 22, Class 5)

Appearance:

the-blob-sigler.jpg

To be precise, its skin is see-through. Under the skin, you would see carcasses of animals (and sometimes humans), retaining their condition when these carcasses were first consumed; some were consumed decayed, while others were consumed fresh (as in, recently dead). Hence, its body is mixed with the decayed parts of the carcasses and the red blood that is still fresh from a carcass. From afar, it would seem like a giant red blob that is moving slowly, across a surface.

Role: Scavenger

Habitat: Swamps
(though it has been known to inhabit sewers under cities or the wastelands)

Life-span: Unknown
(there has been no accounts of deaths from the UKW-522 . In fact, the records of their population are not entirely up to date)

Sentient: No

Sapient: No

Means of Sustenance: Carcasses, Corpses. (See Update #42)

Favourite Food Source: No preference. It only eats things that are dead. (See Update #42)

Major Competition: None.

Mating Rituals:
It is not known as to whether the UKW-522 have any sex. At the moment, it is labeled as asexual until further studies are made. As such, their mating rituals are a mystery (if there are any).

Reproduction:
As mentioned previously, their mating rituals are unknown; as such, their method of reproduction is also unknown. However, there have been reports of an increase in their number (but one can easily mistake the UKW-522 as a new one in their count, considering that there is no way to distinguish one from the other. (See Update #35)

Organization:
As far as the reports say, the UKW-522 are solitary creatures. They have no form of interaction among their own species or with others. It is as though the UKW-522 were reduced to the most basic function in a living being; devouring. Thus, it is all they do; they move ever so slowly in their search for the next carcass.

Others:
Attached are the latest reports on the UKW-522.

Update Report #30
It appears to be able to sense a carcass from through smell. In our study, we have carefully hidden a dog's carcass in the bushes. The UKW-522 was 10 metres away, idling, when it (probably) sensed the carcass. We noticed that it moved towards the bushes, where we hid the cadaver. It later consumed the body and went off into another direction.

Update Report #35
We know now that they reproduce by multiplying. Once they are of a certain size, a part of their body breaks off from its host and becomes a new form.

Update Report #40
The UKW-522 devoured a living monitor lizard. Though it has passed through its amorphous body, the lizard came out at the end of the UKW-522, unharmed.

Update Report #41
The UKW-522 seemed to be heading in our direction every time we make camp or view it from afar. It is following us. It has been following us since our experiment with the dog carcass.

Update Report #42
It took one of us. He did not come out.

Update Report #43
He is dead. There are only two of us left. It is

There have been no other reports on UKW-522 since the last log.
It is classified under number 5: unpredictable and dangerous.

[ We hope you enjoyed our version of a 'blood-themed' creature.
It could probably fit the description of an SCP.
Perhaps.
It's not entirely on blood, but it DOES have some blood in it. ]

Name: Azikura
Appearance: Imagine a tick. Now, mold it's head into a drill-shape(for digging through skin.) Take 2 legs on each side of the tick and turn them into little flippers(for swimming through the blood). Now, take this creature, and make it 2 times smaller(microscopic, only visible in a standard microscope lense x4). This is an Azikura.
Role: Predator
Habitat: Under houses, in bird houses, in dark rooms.
Life-span: 6 years
Sentient: No
Sapient: No
Means of Sustenance: Blood from living animals
Favourite Food Source: Human blood
Major Competition: None
Mating Rituals: None, reprodcues asexually
Organization: Packs.
Other: Hides below until it's prey comes by, then attaches itself to their skin, burrowing into it and going into the veins. As it drinks, it expands. When it gets to the heart (if it gets that far and doesn't block a vein/artery first) then it attaches to the muscle and continuously drinks the blood until either you die of blood loss or it blocks an artery/vein in your heart.
