Create a Vampire

Sorry it took me so long, but here's the second half. :D

Part 2

"Alright. So, how similar to a human are you?"
"We are in ways different and similiar. We still follow mortal values but they are a little different. We believe in our coven, we believe in protecting them and loyalty. Much like a human family is. But we differ in the judicial and law. We believe in death penalty depending on the law you break and the severity. We do not tolerate rogues or lawbreakers."

"So you will kill any lawbreakers?"
"Not necessarily. As I said, it depends on the law and the severity."

"What about children? Can purebloods have children?"
"Yes. They can, but its very difficult. It takes time. Halflings though, are able to have them like you would if you went home to your wife and had sexual relations with her."

"You keep mentioning halflings. What is considered a halfling?"
"We haven't fully figured them out. They seem to be made when they aren't fully drained and given vampire blood. We have researched the making of them but it is still beyond us."

"Ok, going back to the vampire children, can their bites change humans into vampires?"
"No, they aren't venemous."

"What is your usual lifespan?"
"We age quickly at first, if you are pureblood born. When we reach our late teens our aging starts to slow down until we are about 24. Vampires that were created by a sire, they do not age and stay the same as they were when they were made. They are healthier and stronger."

"What is the vampire culture like?"
"We are based on a monarchy. We have royalty and a lord that rules over us all. We abide by the laws he gives us."

"Wait, so you have a royal family?"
"Yes. We are ruled by a sole king and his queen and heirs. There are several branches of the royal family."

"Here's the big question; How did you come to be?"
"Mm. . . a history lesson. Lets see, I haven't heard this question in a very long time. Tiberios is the father of the vampire race. He was about 35 years old when he came across a curse.A curse was put on Tiberios by a powerful being, no one knows what it was. This curse made him very, very ill.He soon slipped into a deep slumber, I believe its now called a coma, and he came very close to the brink of death. He stayed in that state, for days, his kingdom was holding its breath, wondering if this would be the end of their ruler.
He awoke one evening, but he was no longer a man. He was now what the humans called a vampyre. He was a demon in their eyes, he had amazing powers and they worshipped him.He soon became lonely so, he found his wife Kaile. She was feisty and knew how to calm him when he went into a rage. He changed her on their wedding night, so he would forever have her. He thought that if he drained her and had her drink from her wrist she would gain the powers and immortality. Thus, our race was born."

"Fascinating. So they had children and they were pure bloods. What happened to them?"
"They still live. He is our king and we obey him."

"Wait, so this king, he must at least a thousand years old."
"Time seems to be something humans are unable to grasp. You have very shortlives so you don't expect to live longer than about 90 years old."

"I see.Tell me more about your culture."
"We are quite old fashioned. Some have taken up the more modern ways but most of us like the old ways of life. Its more peaceful and we savor life better than you humans. You have all that technology and advancements. You get caught up in it and forget to have long meaningful debates and talks with one another, you forget to go outside and enjoy nature. You have such a short life. For us, we enjoy life's littlest things. We celebrate things humans don't even think to make a celebration for."

"Ah, what about your weaknesses?"
*looks at the interviewer* "What about yours? We may be immortal but beheading, staking and burning would kill anything."

"Right. What about us humans? How do you view us?"
"We admire your motiviation to advance in this world but you tend to rush past "the roses" instead of stopping and smelling it."

"We know nothing about your kind. Do you keep it that way for a reason?"
"Yes. If human kind knew about us, we would cease to live. Humankind fears what they don't understand. Fear turns to violence."

"Then why agree to let me interview you?"
"I never intended to let you leave this room. . . not alive at least."

I'm sure you can guess what happened. But this is my idea of vampires.

Burn in Sunlight
When the vampiric body is exposed to sunlight, it combusts. Even the ashes keep burning. These fires can last for days, and small villages have been known to use them to keep the fire going. Although, when the sky is clouded up, many self-concious vampires come out and try to get a tan.
Aversion to Garlic
Vampires just REALLY don't like garlic.
Holy Water is like Acid
What is this nonsense!
Hate Crosses
Well a certain leader raised a huge mob to try and wipe out all vampires with wooden stakes resembling a cross, so that brings on bad memories, and it might stun them, sometimes depress them as well.
Cannot enter a Home Uninvited
Vampires are very conscientious about their manners, and it would be very rude to break into someone's house.
Can Fly
Nonsense.
Can Shapeshift into a Bat
Of course not.
Have Charming Abilites
Vampires are rather good at the arts of charisma.
Super Sexual
Sometimes.
Are DEAD
Well, they are moving, so no.
Sleep in coffins
Vampires do not have a morbid obsession with sleeping in coffins.
Can't cross running water
Most vampires are scared of running water because if they fall in they have no control whatsoever, and will be swept away. But they can cross.
Stake through the heart to Kill
Yep.
Beheading to Kill
No, although it may take some time for the body to find the head (being immortal helps with this)
Burn to Kill
Well, yes.
A Bite to turn new Vampires
Vampirism is transferred through a bite, but you only become a vampire when the liquid injected takes over your brain, thats why bites are typically on the neck

Vampires and Vampirism is a phenomenon that can cross over through any genre!

They can be MONSTER/BEAST, a kind of ravenous creature.

They can be a RACE OR SPECIES, with a culture of their own.

They can be a DISEASE, passed on through some strange virus or mutation!

Perhaps even something else!

In this exercise, you will be creating your own version of VAMPIRES.

Create what YOU would like vampires to be in your world or setting. The only "rule" to vampires is that they FEED in order to survive. Most commonly this is blood, but sometimes you hear of things like psychic vampires that feed off energy. The rest is up to your own design!

COMMON VAMPIRE TROPES
  • Pointy Fangs
  • Burn in the Sunlight
  • Aversion to Garlic
  • Holy Water is like Acid
  • Hate Crosses
  • Cannot enter a home uninvited
  • Can fly
  • Can shape shift in to a bat
  • Have Charm abilities
  • Super Sexual
  • Are DEAD
  • Sleep in coffins
  • Can't cross running water
  • Stake through the heart to kill
  • Beheading to kill
  • Burn to kill
  • A bite to turn new vampires
  • Kill the sire, and turn underlings back to human

Do you need to follow those tropes? NOPE!

If you create a RACE of vampires:
  • How much like humans are they? How do they differ?
  • Do they have children?
  • Can they turn people to vampires?
  • What is their lifespans?
  • What sort of powers or strengths do they have?
  • What is vampire culture like?
  • What are their weaknesses? How do they die?
  • How do the people of the world view vampires?
  • How do they view humans?
  • Are they from this world? How did vampires come to be?

Don't forget to add in any extra details you want to add!
Alright lets do this!

Maxverse Vampires

Commmon Tropes

Pointy Fangs
Burn In sunlight (except for sufficiently paragon vampires)
Have Charm Abilities (Paragon Only)

Racial Traits

Vampires are an evolutionary offshoot of the devourer, devourers have the ability to eat almost anything and will change over time to meet environmental conditions and the food source they consume. Vampires amongst others like Mind Flayers and Succubi adapted to eat a single kind of food so much they lost some of their devourer essence and became their own thing.

Vampires themselves are almost universally white or gray skinned with yellow, orange or red eyes, their hair is almost always white, grey or black. Since their bodies adapted to a place thriving in negative energy their metabolisms became a bit more like that of an undead creature yet not entirely. Their weakness to sunlight is a side effect of this adaption, which renders their bodies highly vulnerable to it, at normal intensities it slowly burns them up and at super focused intensity it inflicts ridiculous damage.

Another side effect is their resistance to healing energies, thankfully they can heal substantially faster than a human. This healing factor and the robustness of their physiology allows them to live several times longer than a human on average. They are nocturnal and possess excellent night vision, sense of smell and hearing.

Though they have lost much of their devourer forebears adaptability, vampires can still adapt their bodies to an extent. Vampires that have becomes stronger thanks to adapting their bodies are often known simply as paragon vampires, how much improved is often expressed using a concept called blood potence. The beneficial adaptions require extra fuel to function and thus the vampire must feed more or drop back to normal vampire traits.

Besides for consuming "regular" blood vampires can also attempt to consume the blood of exotic beings like demigods, aliens and some elementals. Doing so is usually much more dangerous and can lead to all kinds of strange offshoot traits given time, these are only rarely beneficial though.

Vampires for the most part are strongly distrusted and/or feared in many demihuman societies, there are exceptions to this.

Vampires are born dead, their blood is black with the tears of the forgotten gods. Human women who are near high influences of these gods and become pregnant with Vampires without intercourse. The Vampires, when born, are often violent and have their souls angered and enraged. The souls of the babies kill the mother and in most cases devour it as their first meal. The Vampire must feed but they can sustain themselfs very well with one soul eaten every couple of years. Vampires are immune to pain and live much longer live then humans. The soul of the Vampire is like a second soul that lays in the body. This soul gives the Vampire it's long lifespan and their hunger for other souls. The soul is the only thing in the Vampire that can make it feel pain, the pain can be extream and is sometimes a side effect of unsatisfied hunger. The soul can be used by the Vampire as an extension of the Vampire as weapons or limbs. Vampires are also prosecuted by the Grand Church and are many times put to death if found. To avoid this Vampires join together into gangs and mafias called Dens.

I actually did this already sorta - link in my signature - that's the vampire setting I use when I RP a vampire

Saw it, had to try it, here's mine. These Vampires are based off the species of the same name within my "Wereverse" Series. (All Mythologies are True within Reason here). There will be a bit of lore as well.

COMMON VAMPIRE TROPES
  • Pointy Fangs
  • Yes, they contain a potent neurotoxin that they use to immobilize prey or fend off predators
  • Burn in the Sunlight
  • No, but they are naturally photophobic (hypersensitive to not just sunlight, but bright lights in general)
  • Aversion to Garlic
  • A matter of tastes
  • Holy Water is like Acid
  • No, but it irritates them in the same sense that getting wet when you least expect it does
  • Hate Crosses
  • If only because they dislike any pointy object that gets shoved into their body.
  • Cannot enter a home uninvited
  • Myth
  • Can fly
  • The closest is a combination of umbrakinetic/haemokinetic gliding in a mist form, or the limited flying achieved in Mist-bat form.
  • Can shape shift in to a bat
  • Varying.
  • Have Charm abilities
  • None whatsoever.
  • Super Sexual
  • Varying.
  • Are DEAD
  • Technically living Vampires
  • Sleep in coffins
  • Only when taking a dirt nap
  • Can't cross running water
  • Ridiculous
  • Stake through the heart to kill
  • See above on Crosses
  • Beheading to kill
  • In the same way that beheading anything else will kill them (most of the time)
  • Burn to kill
  • See above
  • A bite to turn new vampires
  • Only Dracula and Carmilla can do this. King Lycaon and Queen Lupa of the Lycan species can likewise do this.
  • Kill the sire, and turn underlings back to human.
  • Vampires have Ontological Inertia, killing a Sire doesn't magically turn their Sired back into their previous form.
Do you need to follow those tropes? NOPE!

BEAST/MONSTER:
  • How are they made or born? Do they breed?
  • Lycans reproduce sexually, save for the aforementioned characters above.
  • Do they have thoughts or think at all? Or just mindless predators?
  • Lycans are capable of thought, but prefer to act on instinct instead.
  • Can they be tamed and used as pets or beasts?
  • Some of the more Feral Lycans act like pets toward Lycaon and Lupa.
  • Do they spread vampirism?
  • Only Lycaon and Lupa can do this willingly. Aside from that, none of them are capable of willingly, unwillingly, or even unknowingly spreading vampirism.
  • Are they predators? Do they hunt?
  • Yes, they are hunters. They count as haemovores.
  • What is their primary sources of food?
  • Mammalian blood, except for Werebeast blood, not even Lycans (separate from Werewolves in-universe) can drink it.
  • How do people view them? Do they fear them, hunt them, worship them?
  • The Lycans' appearance in the late 2020's brought conflict as they attempted to expand their empire.
  • What do they look like?
  • Individual features vary. Lycans are essentially a vampiric relative of the Werewolf, except larger and more muscular, though there is little male-to-female sexual dimorphism, voice probably being the only indication of gender aside from reproductive systems.
  • What are their strengths? Weaknesses?
  • They have limited photophobia (bright light hypersensitivity), but excellent night vision. Their senses are heightened above even the average Werebeast, to a low supernatural level. Their strength is immense however, being able to push pick-up trucks and large boulders as the situation determines. They can sense electrical discharges and magnetic fields, and have a limited ability to see infrared in complete darkness. They possess a limited perception of vibrations as well and due to all these, it is exceptionally difficult to sneak up on a Lycan.
RACE:
  • How much like humans are they? How do they differ?
  • Vampires aren't so much a sub-species of human as they are a different evolutionary result, carnivorous/haemorovous humanoids with a natural photophobia. They are basically paler on average and have red irises. Aside from that, they are almost indifferent from normal Homo Sapiens. Dhampyrs appear more as a sort of Werebat-like relative of the Vampire. Thus, they seem like a more hybridized species of the Vampire and a sub-species of Werebeast now believed to be extinct. Both species have a sexual dimorphism similar to humanity.
  • Do they have children?
  • Both reproduce sexually, this includes having children.
  • How do the children age
  • The more anomalous properties of Vampires and Dhampyrs start around age 25, when they're functionally immortal at this point. Something similar occurs for Lycans and Werebeasts.
  • Can they turn people to vampires?
  • Only Dracula and Carmilla can.
  • What is their lifespans?
  • Functionally infinite as long as they actively try to stay alive, such as feeding themselves and trying to not get killed.
  • What sort of powers or strengths do they have?
  • Very limited haemokinesis, being able to make their blood harden instantly when a wound opens. To a lesser extent, they can transform into a bat form with a mist surrounding it that contains the extra mass needed for their transformation, depending on the species of bat they transform into. Dhampyrs can simply fly instead, having the necessary attributes to do so.
  • What is vampire culture like?
  • Varying depending on the region. In Japan, Vampires are honorable and noble. In America, Vampires especially hate when people ask to see the sparkles that they don't have. Dhampyrs on the other hand, are far less regional, given their location in Shangri-La. They live a life of celibacy, believing that sex does not have to be a part of love, but they absolutely do not condone any non-consensual sex, it is punishable by death. Dhampyrs are generally fairly lax about law and punishment except when a decision made by one harms another's sense of individuality, ranging from rape as mentioned above to slavery to blackmail.
  • What are their weaknesses? How do they die?
  • Vampires can die just like any other human. The only difference is that it would take a bit longer for them to die. Dhampyrs are similar to Vampires. Both suffer from photophobia, and each of their heightened senses has some downside to it. Vampires in their Mist or Bat form are at a higher risk of injury if a part of the Mist storing their extra mass is separated from the rest of them, this results in an injury of equal size to the amount of mass lost, such as missing hands or anemia.
  • How do the people of the world view vampires?
  • Dhampyrs have the luxury of being largely hidden from the world due to Shangri-La's semi-sentient nature and its ability to conceal itself from outsiders, thus they are virtually unheard of. Vampires on the other hand are viewed very differently throughout the world. In America especially, Vampires end up getting the worst as fangirls and even fanboys of some book/movie series have a bizarre idea of what a Vampire is supposed to be, and this puts stress on many as they try to explain their true nature and are shunned for not meeting the bizarre expectations. Inversely, in Transylvania, many Vampires are treated with a high degree of respect as they are seen as powerful and some are even believed to be Dracula's direct descendants.
  • How do they view humans?
  • Varying. In America, under the same circumstances, these Vampires tend to feel discriminated against. Transylvania, they view humans as loyal subjects. Japan, they view any human who can stand toe-to-toe in a fight as a Worthy Opponent and an Honorable Warrior. There are many, many other examples that I could list, but don't want to drag this on for too long.
  • Are they from this world? How did vampires come to be?
  • They are Earthen. They evolved from Homo Erectus, same with most of the codominant sentient species on Earth.

  • Thank You

How are they made or born? Do they breed?
There are the Elite and the pliebian. They are caused by different strains of the blood-borne illness that transforms the infected into one or the other depending on the infector. In prehistoric times the two were constantly at war over territory and resources. It was a gruesome war that lasted over five centuries, but inevitably ended in an Elite victory. A victory that ensured that the pliebian would be forced to hand over their freedom to prevent the elite from eliminating the pliebian strain forever.
  • Do they have thoughts or think at all? Or just mindless predators? The elite are highly intelligent beings that are capable of purging their emotions completely. Most elite are known for purging their emotions, but there are a few who like to keep them. The pliebian are capable of thought, but the intelligence is no more than a human child. However, they are extremely emotional beings. In more cases than not pliebians become mindless beast at the age of 20 to ensure survival.
  • Can they be tamed and used as pets or beasts? Their are records of elites being tamed, but this is only possible if the other is a higher ranking elite. Plebians are tamable, but it takes extreme measures to ensure they will remain tamed over long periods of time.
  • Do they spread vampirism? Yes. Both elite and pliebian spread vampirism through a venom. Elite's have the power to control who receives the venom. Pliebian's have no control over this process.
  • Are they predators? Do they hunt? Both are predators. Both hunt for food.
  • What is their primary sources of food? Elites feed off of the sexual energy of a person. This aids them in the process of purging emotions by calming their own desire. Plebeians feed off of blood.
  • How do people view them? Do they fear them, hunt them, worship them? The elite are unknown by humans beyond urban legends. They are both feared and respected by those who believe in them. Pliebians are feared and it is not uncommon for them to be hunted at specific times of the year. However, since they have fallen slave to the Elite they have receive enough protection to keep the number of casualties by hunting low.
  • What do they look like? They resemble the human body that was taken. Elite's are noted to have an icy silver toned completion. The eye color becomes an intense blue and the hair remains the humans original hair color. They are capable of changing their appearances however they need to attract prey. Pliebians evolved to have soft golden completions that appear more human like, and take whatever features beloned to the human.
  • What are their strengths? Weaknesses? Elites strength is their intelligence and appearance. Weaknesses are they are unlikely to bear children and they tend to be extremely picky about who will receive their gene. The elite population is not even a third of the plebian population. Pliebian strengths are their ability to repopulate rather quickly, and they are capable of childbirth. Weaknesses are their lack of intelligence and strong emotional drive.

If you create a RACE of vampires:

  • Can they turn people to vampires? Both are capable of transforming people into vampires.
  • What is their lifespans? Elite are immortal. Plebian's are also immortal, but most do not live past 500 years.
  • What is vampire culture like? They both bow to the elite's royal family. Women tend to live prosperous in the elite, whereas in the plebian they are viewed as nothing more than an animal. Men of both are respected highly.
  • What are their weaknesses? How do they die? The elite fall weak whenever they have not fed in two weaks time, and will eventually die from exhaustion. Plebian's largest killer is blood loss from battle.
  • How do the people of the world view vampires? They try to ignore it beyond giving them respect.
  • How do they view humans? Both tend to dislike humans, but there are exceptions in which both have truly enjoyed human company.
  • Are they from this world? How did vampires come to be? Yes. Both strands came from two brother's who were born from the tainted blood of god. They were sent to destroy each other, but were unable to before the disease began to spread. One brother ( Kalon) was that of the Plebians, and the other ( Arlimus) was that of he elite.

If you create a DISEASE of vampires
  • How does it spread? Through a venom that is injected through the body from the mouth.
  • Does it only affect humans? Other creatures? The disease only changes humans into vampires, other creatures take the venom like a poison.
  • Is there a cure for it? There is no known cure.
  • Do the infected become a mindless monster? Both have the ability to become mindless. It is almost unheard of among elites, but is quite common in the plebeians
  • What sort of things does it do to the body? Make it stronger? Weaker? Both strains make the body stronger. The disease is constantly evolving in hopes of evening the playing field between the two. However, they evolve in different ways that only add to abilities they already have. The strains constantly fight against the other and try to out do the other.
