Personality: Just your typical nature loving scientist. She's smart- graduated from an ivy league college with a full ride-confident in her skills and laid back, unless she is angry or curious. Not very patient when it comes to people, but loves her job. Would prefer exploring and cataloging flora all day if she could. Has a strong sense of loyalty to her friends and is very stubborn when it comes to doing what's right. Does not compromise her morals.
History: Jessica Sastre is a young Botanist working with a mad genius, Joe Collins, who is certain he will be able to create a miracle cure, if only he could find the right ingredients. While hiking through a South American forest in the search of yet another plant her partner needed for his experiments, Jess gets separated from her group. While trying to find her way back she falls into a deep pit, hidden by moss, dirt and weak branches. On the way down she hits her head and lands badly on her right ankle and passes out; by the time she awakens, night has fallen. Unable to climb out because of her injury, she looks around her and notices a faint blue glow. She follows it and learns that it is a strange- possibly undiscovered- type of luminous moss. Motivated by her curiosity, she keeps following the tunnel until she notices that there is more light in the cave than moss or her flashlight could produce. She then finds her way to a small tunnel that slops downward and emits light the same color as the moss. On a whim, she follows it. Halfway down the tunnel it becomes dangerously steep but before she can climb back out, there is a cave in and she is forced to slide down or risk being burred alive. The tunnel ends about ten feet above a glowing blue river of water. She is quickly pulled downstream by the current and deposited in a moat of sorts surrounding a building she could not have imagined in her wildest dreams. Before she can come back to her senses she is grabbed and dragged underwater. Unable to fight her captor off, she passes out again, waking up in a cell with no guards or other prisoners present.
Current Goal/Purpose: Unknowingly, Jess had wandered into the territory of a hidden civilization. They had acquired, through various means, several different kinds of technology and put their own spin on it, using their resources in an ingeniously efficient manner. Unfortunately, their customs where still stuck in the past and they intend on using Jess as a sacrifice to one of their gods. Luckily for her, their "spiritual leader", a man who had been picked up by the people as a young boy, convinced them that the sacrifice this time had to be a man. Unfortunately, the one being targeted was none other than her mad scientist friend, Joe. So, her and her new allies have to figure out a way to escape the inescapable fortress and save her friends without becoming a snack to the gods themselves. But She is also determined to take some of the sacred moss and algae-which has been refined by the inhabitants into an extremely potent medicine- back to Joe for him to use in his experiments. But in the end she will have to make a choice. The lives of her friends or the miracle drug that could save the lives of millions?
Appearance: Wavy brown hair just long enough to pull back into a ponytail. Tanned from being outdoors. 5'6''. Average body size. In shape from hiking and climbing. Brown eyes, thin, strait nose, average face.
