Hey hey! Hope everyone is doing great in this quarantine world we're living in, or as good as we can be. Once upon a time, when I would write, one of my favorite things to do was create collaborative posts with my fellow writers. What do ya mean?! Aren't we doing that already?! Why yes, yes we are however we can take this a step up.

What do you mean Mid? How can we take it to the next level? Simple. By creating one, beautifully combined post together.

Mid, you're talking crazy. Stop it. What are we? Google docs?

Well, not exactly but close. Many moons ago, I use to use a site called PiratePad and what that would do is allow groups of people to sign into specific rooms where you would become specific colors and most importantly, write together in real time. You can edit each other's posts or build on it, together. There was also a chatroom on the site so you could bounce ideas off of each other while not getting distracted with other tabs. But alas--it is GONE.

So why the hell am I telling you about this? Because despite PiratePad being gone, there are many other options available! So I did a search for apps that are similar to what I use to use and here is what I have found!

Below is a video on how to use these collaborative websites cause I suck at explain things 8D.

https://video.etherpad.com (Yes! This has VIDEO and MIC available. Please keep in mind to always use your best judgement and safety when using applications like these. But otherwise, being able to speak verbally with your friends is a lot of fun! Below is a youtube video that shows you how it looks and what to expect).

I really hope that you guys like this and are able to use this to have fun with! This is great for exercises, a post to make a scene fit perfectly together (usually ones that have multiple people involved), or maybe you just want an opinion/edit on your work.

One of the things you should keep in mind tho is that these sites do NOT save your writings forever. You should ALWAYS save your work on a document before closing your browser.

So I hope you guys have fun! Happy writing.

Collaborative writing is awesome, esp for keeping a seamless flow for dialogue. Generally tho, I just use google docs (there's a chat option, though I generally just use discord) and you can use colored text if you feel inclined (again, not something I generally care for). The reason i prefer gdocs is the keystroke save feature and the fact that it stores forever. Sometimes I like to go back to old collabs and reread something or an rp gets put on hold mid collab and then reboots and it's nice to know the doc is still there, waiting.

Yes! Google docs is also a great option! I just realized people actually have some difficulty with it (they're always asking me how to use it lol!) But I personally enjoy using GDocs for the forever factor.
