Akiel could feel the shadows prowling closer and closer outside the cafe, but he didn't leave his post. Not yet. Not until he had strengthened the people in the cafe against demonic attack. To an outsider, it may have seemed like a waste of time, but the angel knew better. Laughter, and an angel's healing influence, would strengthen the natural shield every human was born with, and still possessed as adults. Bad actions, bad thoughts and words, mental illness, physical illness, negative emotions; all contributed to weaken these shields, and were things off of which demons fed.

That was why Aki stayed, that was why he continued to show amusing and cheerful images with his 'flashlight'. When a few of the patrons wanted to take a look at it, his view of the door was blocked. He didn't realize his friend had gone until he had a chance to turn, and immediately saw Kai's snake book sitting on the table by an unfinished cup of coffee. Aki looked around the room, but could not see his friend, and something in Natsume's eyes told him Kai had left. The older man was focusing on Aki in a way he'd seen before, as though conscious of something Aki didn't know yet. For whatever reason, Kai had vanished.

Alarmed, the angel turned off his flashlight and grabbed Kai's book, stuffing it under his jacket as though there were pockets there. Really, he was able to send the book back 'home' to wait until he called for it, like his flashlight, or anything else he brought with him. Turning to the crowd, he gave a hasty wave of his hand.

"Sorry, everyone…I have to head out now. It was wonderful meeting you all!" He smiled at the cheerful goodbyes, satisfied that the people would be shielded for the time being. Right now, he had to contact Halcyon and find Kai. With such dark shadows on the prowl his friend could be in real danger.

As Aki moved toward the door, he was busy contacting Halcyon through their telepathic link. All angel partners had this between them, though Aki tried not to clutter theirs up with a lot of talking, as he tended to do. Halcyon liked quiet, and to focus on his work. Now, of course, was different. Aki sent out a non-verbal call, feeling his partner nearby. There would be more trouble soon if they both weren't quick about it.

(Go ahead and have Natsume try to stop him XD)

(Just a heads-up; real life has invaded and I'm going to be gone for a few days, but I'll be back either this weekend or Monday. See you then!)

((XD Yeah I will. I mean Natsume will try. Though I'm sure that Aki wouldn't listen no matter what and try to follow Kai. Well, we'll just see who gives in first :P and thank you for the heads up ^^))

Natsume had watched Kai leave and turned to look over into Aki's direction to see him entertaining his customers. Though Natsume wanted to come along with Kai out of worry; he still had to put his customer's on his top priority.

What he knew about Kai, was based on how he's seen Kai interact with him and others. With the amount of time they've known each other, Natsume could pick up a few things about him that most humans couldn't. He knew by now that what Kai says or the way he acts, isn't usually what it seems and he was wondering if the angel knew. Yes, he knew that Aki was an angel. It was quite obvious by the way he behaved that was unlike a human and also the way humans were so attracted to his aura. He had so much positive energy emitting from him that was beyond a human which made him seem unearthly, because within every human was darkness. Yet, Aki didn't have a sense of darkness lurking within him. Unless it was because he was just good at hiding it and putting up a front. But no matter how good a human can hide their feelings, demons and angels could sense it even if it never showed on the surface.

Seeing as how Aki was such a mystery, Natsume was intrigued by him. Somehow wanting to find out how he was even able to get Kai to act the way he is now. To Natsume, he noticed that Kai seemed to have a different vibe. Like he was calmer. His demon side also seemed to be settled when Aki was around. It was strange, yet amusing in a way. He was glad that Kai seemed to have found something or someone for that matter that he could actually feel comfortable around because it was rare for Kai to feel at ease. When he first met Kai, Kai was restless and tense as if everything around him was his enemy that he couldn't trust, like he could care less for anything else around him besides his goals. He was like a lost child, who knew only what he was supposed to do, but not what he wanted to do.

As he brought his attention back to Aki, he noticed that Aki had finally caught on to the fact that Kai was gone. Natsume watched to see what Aki would do, curious as to whether he would really leave to find Kai or be persistent. That being brought up, Natsume found Aki to be similar to Kai in a way, though not very much in terms of personality. Which is the most obvious thing by just looking at them standing next to each other, they would look to be friends with the complete opposite personalities from each other.

When Aki was about to leave, Natsume quickly stepped in front of him to block the door and crossed his arms. "Where do you think you're going?" Natsume asked Aki in an authoritative tone that was slightly hushed so that people in the cafe couldn't hear.
