Actually the setting is just two years before our current time. Just so I could line it up with when the world was going to end. So we start in 2012. I hope that makes sense.

The youngest of two sons, Aiden was born and raised in California, the state of sunshine. Son of a police officer and doctor, Aiden never saw much of his parents, and spent most of his life under the care of his older brother, who was a good 7 years older than he was. Aiden spent most of his life in the shadow of his brother- A track star, valedictorian, and soldier, Aiden's older brother was what their parents viewed as the ideal son. Despite this, Aiden never resented his brother, who was always kind and caring, more of a guardian and role model to Aiden than either of his parents.

Under his brother's guidance, Aiden graduated from high school with relatively high marks, and was enrolled in UCLA with a scholarship for soccer. As Aiden started college, his brother was deployed by the military to the middle east. Despite the distance, Aiden and his brother maintained close contact with one another through e-mails and letters. At UCLA, Aiden became known as one of the soccer team's star players, and while he was no valedictorian, his grades were nothing to laugh at either.

After over a month without contact from his brother, Aiden was approached by a man in a military uniform. His brother had been shot and killed while overseas. Later that evening, a massive earthquake scoring an 8 on the Richter Scale was reported in the Los Angeles area.
