"There are countless stories told throughout history. Stories of grand heroes defying the odds in the name of peace. In this hour though, there is no Legend. We have only ourselves. We are the New Justice."
81EWi64.jpg

Year 2064. The Justice League is now a shell of its former self. The seven founding members, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (John Stewart), and Aquaman have long fallen from their pedestals of glory. The universe and planet Earth are as they always were: crime and evil abound and often serve to overtake the helpless in the wake of Earth's involvement in her first Galactic War of 2032, which served as the catalyst by which the League had originally disbanded and the reason why most of the planet is in a state of unrest regarding super-powered lifeforms of any kind.

The Galactic War began with the invasion of the Red Martians, a strange hybrid project conjured from the ancient labs of our sister planet in order to expand her influence and terrirorty across our galaxy. They were powerful--too powerful for all of Earth's heroes. The Galactic War began with a systematic invasion of Justice League and Lantern Core and ended with the near total destruction of all civil life on Earth.

Most of Earth has already been salvaged and fully repaired to its former glory and is at it's normal state of peace. Earth's mightiest hero may have thought to been Superman, but the savior that went down in history for single handedly saving the galaxy through great sacrifice would be The Flash. The Great Disappearance is the term used to describe The Flash's lethal use of the Flash Force in order to jam the matrix of reality into an alternate dimension where the Red Ones had never gotten the chance to invade. By vibrating far past the speed of light, all of the Red One's had cleared the sky and the Earth was left in peace. Wally West was declared dead as having been killed during the war. The Flash has yet to be found since his disappearance.

The void left by the war was felt for the next twenty years as humanity charged itself with repairing much of the damaged planet to the best of it's abilities. The United Nations had already unanimously agreed to petition for the disbandment of The Justice League and all super-human affiliated groups in fear that they may have been growing their greatest threat in their own backyard. Most would not call this the World War IV for planet Earth, but the purge of super-humans had finally begun which forced many members into hiding after the public killing demonstration of the Green Lantern. The Justice League fell.

Enter year 2064. Many generations have passed and the stigma held against super-humans has finally lifted. With a new campaign for super-human equality heavily rallied by the global populace, the World Leaders (Illuminati) has finally had their hand pushed in order to re-welcome and publicly apologize for their misstatements of Super Humans. The New Justice Society, headed particularly by Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter, is now recruiting super-humans at the New Hall of Justice at New Metropolis' Capital in order to reaffirm peace and justice to the galaxy once again. Auditions and initiation begins on D-Day.
First, some words on Quality Control.

This RP has a minimal quota of 1 paragraph per IC post. We type in complete sentences that are as grammatically correct as we can get them. That being said, quality over quantity is the name of the game. Please be as concise and content filled as you can. Try to be immersive. You are encouraged to post relevant pictures in-character in order to immerse the reader.

Every character created or used in this RP will be subject to quality control of some sort. Dont worry, this is just to make sure you're character is sympathetic and not one-sided or OP. Your character, once used in this RP, also becomes canon within this RP's lore and will be used as a GM tool if you so happen to randomly vanish. This is in order to keep up the quality and flow of story. By RPing in this thread I'm assuming you agree to this. Dont worry, your character will be safe with me. If not. Well. Click off I guess.

Romantic interests are allowed but graphic sexual intercourse and libertine roleplaying is forbidden here. Take it to your PM if your character's plot so demands so. Please also keep graphic forms of gore out of this RP. Keep it PG-13. I also do not want blatant and overused profanity for the sake of decency and quality roleplay.

Although this RP will have a lot of action and adventure, it's about living breathing characters which requires a degree of atmosphere, finesse and development. I suggest you craft a character that can do both without seeming overpowered. Bad ass gunslingers are cool but can only go so far in a long-term RP. I much prefer a carefully crafted character with real human, grounded flaws and over a super-human bad ass with not much personality and a rock for a weakne--oh wait. Anyways, you get what I mean. Keep it SUPER HUMAN but realistically so.

Finally, we're about having fun here. Although a GM's word is final, everyone's input is just as important and I try to factor in everyone's wishes if possible.

Thank You

Rules
1. Regular Iwaku Rules

2. Metagaming, Godmodding or creating Mary Sue's are not allowed. Characters will be checked for this.
3. 5-7 Complete sentences per post as minimal requirement. Quality > Quantity

4. Every IC post must have the name of the character you are writing for. Please choose a color (not white) in which to bold it. Once you chose your color for this character please keep it. When you write a fight scene, please also include a title to make navigating the RP easier. For example:

BATMAN
Batman vs Superman
[Insert RP text here]

5. On another note. I strongly encourage the use of spoilers, colors, bolding, pictures (encased in spoilers) and titles where appropriate in your CS to keep things precise and neatly organized within the thread. Lets try and keep the threads from becoming tedious eyesores.

6. Please be respectful to all players. Please be able to separate your IC drama from your real world OOC drama.

7. Adhere strictly to the combat system. Please wait 2 posts before posting again ICLY, or atleast it is discussed in the OOC to do so. We want everyone to have an even chance to RP.

8. If you read this far and understand the rules please say so at the end of your CS.

Background Story

It's 2064. Superhumans and their meta-lifeform counterparts are gather around planet Earth at New Metropolis. Its Friday, December 21, marking the first day of what's planned to be an incredibly snowy Winter for Metropolis, CITY 47, Gotham and Arkham alike. A recent press conference held by the now out-of-hiding Wonder Woman and Martian Manhunter has been on replay for the past few weeks. At the celebratory opening of The New Hall of Justice, Wonder Woman sets a definitive date for the New Justice League auditions where superhumans are encouraged to come out of hiding and join their cause for good. Starting in the new year, January 5, Meta-humans will be greeted in joy by the affiliates of the Illuminati and Justice League as they introduce themselves to their new colleagues and begin their journey for global and galactic peace. Many have seen the audition flier and newscasts all over the globe, but will your character make the cut?

This RP will follow the story and missions of the new team formed out of these auditions.

This RP Universe is pretty big with a lot of potential for multiple story archs. I consider no area in the DC Universe off limits. Here are some of the known areas that will be explored in the RP. I've also created some places of my own to fit into the RP's unique lore. Think of this as a hint to the RPs content. Im going to lightly explain the history of each location as pertains to this specific universe's lore. Some locations are self-explanatory and can be either googled or described IC when it's needed. If you have any questions though feel free to ask!

NEW Watch Tower
[spoili]
The Watch Tower is a secure and fortified satelite space station forged from highly advanced Earth, Martian and Thanagarian technology. It serves as a companion unit to the Hall of Justice located in New Metropolis. It serves a fort, headquarters and defense system over Earth and is manned by the Martian Manhunter round the clock. It's host to multiple teleportation tubes and Javeline Space Jets and is armed with a powerful binary fission ray.
[spoili]
[/spoili][/spoili]

NEW Hall of Justice

Although fancy in appearance, the Hall of Justice is reinforced with 400 tons of blast concrete and titanium plates. The hall acts as a foreign embassy ran by the Justice League and also hosts private teleportation tubes up to the Watch Tower. It's secret labrynth and basement holds a private burial ground of superheroes who have since passed on. The hall also sports a private morgue with a colleciton of deceased supervillains, protecting them from being harvested by the wrong hands. The Hall also has a nuclear lab, a robotics lab, and the most advanced VR training system on Earth.

[spoili]
[/spoili]

Titan Tower
[spoili]
Located near East River, New York, the Titan Tower is a steel, glass and concrete structure overlooking the city on the artificially constructed Titan's Island. It requires a specific league-prodived ID input to enter. A high-tech robotics lab covers most of the upper region while the emergency escape routes and Sub-pen within the East River are located in its basement. The Tower stands more as an abandoned memorial to all those young heroes to risked their lives in order to save Earth from the Red Martians.
[spoili]
[/spoili]
[/spoili]

Mount Justice
[spoili]
A secret base hidden inside the mountain near Happy Harbour, Rhode Island which originally served the early formation of the League and would later serve the Young Justice team. It hosts a standard docking bay for seacraft, a high-tech VR training system and teleportation tubes coming to and from the WatchTower. There are no escape routes underneath Happy Harbor however.
[spoili]
[/spoili]
[/spoili]

Arkham City & Arkham Asylum
[spoili]Located near New Jersey, Uptown Gotham, Arkham City is a super prison that once was Old Gotham which holds patients and prisoners from Arkham Asylum and Blackgate Prison. The city has been even further destroyed with the invasion of the Red Martians and lays as a complete wasteland void of most civil life other than bands of criminals and drug lords. Arkham City and Asylum remains as a last resort to hold Earth's craziest villains. Batman's original nemesis' locations remain unknown but are suspected to be somewhere within this area.

[spoili]
[/spoili]
[/spoili]

Gotham City & Gotham Bay
[spoili]Even years after repairing after the war, Gotham returned to its own twisted way and lays as a danger zone for crime lords and villains of all sorts. Since the vanishing of Bruce Wayne and Batman, both corporate and petty crimes have soared while the police lay helpless to the evils of Gotham's spirit. Gotham Bay's Blackgate Prison has long overflowed and has been transferring its member to Arkham City & Asylum. Talks are in the works to create a new super asylum compounds: City 47.

[spoili]
[/spoili]

[/spoili]

New Metropolis
[spoili] After being totally destroyed during the Red Martian Invasion, the local Metropolitan government funded enough money to recreate a bigger, more impressive Metropolis after an intense relief aid effort spearheaded by many global charity givers. New Metropolis now stands strong in Delaware and is an example for others as a safe civilized city where families and communities can live in a post-apocalyptic world.

[spoili]
[/spoili]
[/spoili]

City 47
[spoili] With the Galactic War came the total destruction of what once was Metropolis. What remained was City 47, a wasteland that not closely resembles Arkham City more than any other civilized city in the world. Buildings have crumbled and most of the civilians live in a state of constant poverty. Because of this City 47 has become a nest for super villains and crime lords much like Gotham. The sky is dark and black at all times due to the intense smog and smoke from nearby burning piles of chemical waste found throughout the city. City 47 is a wasteland that has been quarantined from civil life and is now commonly called "The Dumping Zone". Surrounding the general area that once was Metropolis is a large wall, blocking out potential visitors from the constant hazard and danger of Old Metropolis.

[spoili]
[/spoili][/spoili]

Mars
[spoili]
The third planet from the Sun, Earth's sister galaxy is an enigma. Shortly after a supposed civil war between the White Martians and Green Martians (both are actually the same race of The Burning), Martian intelligence began to experiment with a new breed of super-alien: The Red Martian. These mutated organisms hold enough power to outclass Earth's most advanced military weapons. Mars itself is an extremely harsh climate that often evens the playing field for many super-humans. It has some of the thinnest air in the galaxy and its red icy cold desert is some of the harshest an Earthling may ever come in contact with. Apparently, due to the presence of the Red Martian, there seems to be more civilization on Mars than we once had thought.
[/spoili]

Cadmus: Area 51
[spoili]
Cadmus' base is said to be located somewhere within City 47, beyond the jurisdiction of government agencies. The area works closley with Area 51 which is located in Nevada. Experiments on alien life form hybrids, advanced A.I robotics and cloning technology are heavily rumored to occur around here.
[/spoili]

Tower of Fate

[spoili]
Thought to have been destroyed during the Galactic War, the Tower of Fate stands properly at an alternate area in space-time. It's Earthly anchor was completley destroyed which renders it impossible to visit by conventional means. The Tower itself has no doors or windows and is only accessible to those with the Fate persona. Fate must grant access via spell or through touch to first allow people to pass through. The Tower serves as Dr. Fate's solitude for those who host his persona and also serves as a storage for many ancient Egyptian artifacts including the all seeing Orb of Nabu. The Tower holds multiple magical items. It's quite a challenge to navigate the Tower without specific knowledge as it is difficult to find and enter.

New Krypton & The Dreamscape [CONTAINS PLOT SPLOILERS]
[spoili]An original setting that is created in the mind of Superman when he holds Dr. Fate's Orb of Solomon, a sphere that peers into the hearts of the wielder and crafts an intricate illusionary dream around. This is New Krypton, Kal-El's dream where he lives on a newly inhabited planet that will host his Kryptonian companions.

The Dreamscape is an interconnected network of life's conciousness. It is the world behind our eyes where anything is possible. It is accedible through particular magical artifacts and rituals such as The Orb of Solomon and The Dreamcaster's Ritual. [/spoili]

The Lazarus Pit
[spoili]Classically known as The Fountain of Youth, The Lazarus Pit is a natural phenomenon that instantly heals afflictions and can even grant immortality when dipped in it's pool. It is heavily protected by Raz al Ghul's league of assasins and affiliates of the Illuminati. [/spoili]

About The Illuminati
[spoili]This RP universe has a secret organization called The Illuminati, often referenced as The Enlightened Ones. The Illuminati is an unknown organization to the public funded by the most powerful and wealthy men and women of the DC Universe in the wake of the first Galactic War. Their goal is to build Earth's influence and colonize the Galaxy in order to make Human Kind the most dominant and wealthy species to have ever existed. They also concern themselves with an Anti-Hero agenda in order to protect "the real humans" from their superhuman counterparts. They fund multiple projects including Cadmus, Project Lazarus, Project Phantom and Project RED, which will be ideas covered in this RP.

This RP plot and universe is pretty big, so if you decide to embark on the long-term you can expect us to go through at least a few members of The Illuminati before the RP ends. You'll find that each member is on the team for their own reasons, sometimes directly contradicting the groups actual purpose. [/spoili]

Here will be the missions and episode title panel. Before each mission in OOC I will give a biref synopsis. This is no way means the RP moves in a strictly linear motion, but instead just tells you what's at hand here. You'l also be brief in IC. Here are the titles. Hopefully, they interest you.

The combat system used in this RP is about playing equal more than anything else. I strongly encourage players to think out their attacks in a logical, realistic way even though we all play characters far above normal human capacity. Immersion, fun, and epicness is what this RP combat really strives for alongside player equality.

Combat System Rules

To initiate an attack you will roll a single die. You can use it in the "more options" drop down tab in the OOC thread in a post they make. The number that's landed on will determine how your attack will occur IC. The combat system does not casually permit OHKO's or instant deaths unless agreed upon with the RPers involved or GM. This counts for NPCs too. I rather prefer to ask and discuss than for you to assume. You must acknowledge the damage your character sustains, or the GM is allowed to assume your damage in-game.

Every time you attack, please wait a post or two so that those RPers around you may react. When you are typing a fight scene, alongside your colored title of choice must go under a notification that you are writing a fight scene. Include your character and their opponent. Here's an example:

BATMAN
Batman vs Superman

[Insert RP Text Here]

1 = Total Failure. Immediate and full counter is possible by defender. Defender must roll die.

2-5 = Partial Failure 1: Some of your attack hit well, some aspects did not and does not damage and hit as hard as you had imagined. Attacker decides. Decide with consideration. (Max 2)

6-10 = Partial Failure 2: Your hit connected, but something was missed and defended against. The defender gets to decide with consideration and gets to counter.

11-15= Almost Perfect 1: Half of your hit connected. Attacker decides with consideration.

16-19 = Almost Perfect 2: Half of your hit connected. Defender decides with consideration and gets to counter.

20= Critical Strike: Total Hit. Everything connects and works well. No chance to counter.

Weapons & Arsenals
Bat Boy's Suit
Bat Boy's suit resembles a primitive form of attire loosely modeled after the Dark Knight. Constructed mostly by the same fabric of Batman's earliest form of stealth-adventure suits that aided him in his Golden age. Bat Boy's worn down cloth-like suit has two large torn holes in order to accommodate his wings.

Bat Boy's Wings & Appendages
Bat Boy's wings span of about 10 meters. These large, leathery bat-like wings are not always capable of flight, but can be instantly retracted and manifested upon will by the Bat-Child. The wing's large span and thick density allows ample protection from explosives, standard bullets, and can beat powerful wings in order to fan flames and startles enemies.

Bat Boy's hands and feet also host retractable claws. These claws are horribly sharp and lethal. These claws, particularly on the feet, are capable of clinging to surfaces, which Bat Boy often uses to hand upside down to observe his surroundings.

Powers
Wing Manifestation, Flight & Retractable Claws
A large powerful set of leathery fuzzed wings that allows Klein to fly. His wings are fully retractable to concealable--capable of being manifested from the scars on his back .

Wing Shield & Breeze
Klein's large wings serve as a shield against explosives, fire, and bullets. The thick callous of the wings serve as a good shield, but still harms Klein's wings which will affect him. Klein's wings can also kick up harsh winds similar to a helicopter's blade's wind.

Strong Muscles
Hits harder than human beings are capable, but not enough to be deemed super-strength. This comes from his added muscle mass being used by his wings. This also allows him to move very quickly compared to his human counterparts as well as jumping a lot higher than they can.

Weaknesses & Flaws
Normal Human Weaknesses
Fear of Fire
Weakness to Anti-Splicing Antidotes
Tendency to Violently Rage; Capable of Killing
Wing Manifestation Stability (Relies on Dice in Combat)
Flies Slowly due to Heavy Equipment
Revolver Stability (Relies on Dice)
Lack of Combat Training

Special Skills
In combination with using chain reels, large wings, dual pistols, a makeshift bo staff and retractable claws, Bat Boy is able to hold his own against most enemies he comes across in the dead of night. Much like Batman though, Bat Boy does use fear to his advantage, often using his wings and costume to strike intense fear into his enemies.

Personality
Under the cowl and stripped of his alter ego, Bat Boy remains a young, largely conflicted boy torn apart by the darkness of who he needs to be.

Is he a demon? Or is he an angel? Is it okay to be both? And does justice and protection always come from the dark? A little boy lays in the bell tower of a cathedral with his mother, singing hymns and lovingly spending time with her. When the night comes and terror reigns. When the provision of the church isn't enough. Bat Boy reveals himself: A Sheep in Wolves' Clothing.

Background Story
Born to a Nun in the international relief era during the fall of Old Metropolis, Bat Boy became the hidden secret to City 47's local church. The forbidden act that would have gotten Sister Mary Klein excommunicated should the Bishop not have insisted that the City needs all the help it can get. Still, to keep the shame from allowing her brothers and sisters from falling, Sister Mary Klein was commanded to live far away in City 47's bell tower where her closest sisters and brothers would care for her and her new born child.

They named him Barry Klein. A healthy young baby who seemed to hold much promise in the name of a future for this broken city. With the prayers, blessings and teachings of his church community Klein would grow to be a pleasant young man--a lover of family and friends, a give of peace.

But something was wrong with Barry. Nights were spent bleeding and mutating in agony. No one knew what was wrong. He was mutated. He was crippled. Enraged by the pain of transformation,

Times became rough. With the help of his brothers and sisters' prayers and his own devotion, Barry remained controlled and faithful to his inner conscience, but the church began to run out of money. Constantly robbed by violent criminals, Barry's home had no where to run.

But he was no man. Nor was he a bat. With his new inspiration, Klein set out to recreate the mantle of the Batman in a new light. A new Bat-vigilante for a new era of justice. This time, however, there would be no mercy. He would bring a greater brand of fear than what the Dark Knight could ever manage. He was already a real bat. Now all he had to do was become a man.

The church filled with goods once more before Barry was caught red-handed by his brothers and sisters. Harshly reprimanded for his ways, Barry was commanded to turn the other cheek to the ways of evil in City 47. But he could not understand. Where is justice in an era where there is no one to provide it? Who will make criminals afraid to ransack the innocent? Who would make sure his mother had something to eat and the children something to wear when it's cold outside?

With Barry's heart torn in two, he was excommunicated from his church. Filled with anger, rage, fire and determination, Barry Klein set out to bring justice and peace where ever he could find it. Still regularly flying to the top of the bell tower where he and his mother would play and tell great stories and sleep together, a winged angel would be seen handing over the riches and wealth of the night over to the churches. The nuns told the priests it was the Angel of Giving. The criminals on the street known the Bat Boy protects this church.

Today
Today he is an urban legend. A boy born to a Sister that betrayed the church. A shunned Robin Hood. A Bat Child that plays both Demon and Angel when it's most convenient. A cash cow to the tabloids and media. A monster torn between two sides of justice.

Armed with his strong dual-natured beliefs, Klein set out to find the most powerful super humans in the world. Why? He didn't know. He had no purpose. But finding heroic hopefuls like himself may eventually prove to be useful and give him direction.

Mysterious fliers fell from the sky one night. "Auditions for a New Justice League", it read. New Metropolis wasn't so far away. Bound to explore outside the walls of City 47, Klein held onto his Mother's crucifix pendant and the locket she entrusted him with and set out--flying as high into the sky beyond the colossal wall that's locked the world out ever since he was born.

A new world was to be discovered.

Background Story

In the beginning, Lacey's parents cared for her and her younger siblings. The Marks' kept a close eye on their brood and made sure their kids were always doing the right thing and being safe. Lacey was the oldest of four siblings, so it was up to her to keep her siblings in line, while also protecting them when their parents were away or otherwise indisposed. For awhile, this strategy worked well. Lacey's parents didn't want their kids to get exposed to the radiation outside, so they kept them entertained in the safety of their house. They would leave for work and Lacey would inherit the job of safety monitor. But one day, Lacey's father had a terrible accident and died on his job. Lacey's mother was devastated and along with her devastation came the a feeling of helplessness and general apathy. She no longer watched her kids or chastised them for keeping the windows open for too long. She no longer praised Lacey for stopping her siblings from touching something sketchy. On some level, the thirteen year old Lacey understood her mother's despair but without a stronger driving force to help keep her siblings in line, Lacey began to lose control. Her siblings became restless and began to complain about being cooped up inside. They began to creep towards the door and crack it open just to take a peek outside. Their curiosities grew and soon 'just a peek' became 'I just wanna step outside for a minute. Just a minute.' One night, Lacey's four year old brother Arthur, sneaked away and when she realized that he was gone, Lacey freaked out. She tried to spur her mother into action but the woman was still weighed down by the demise of her late husband, so Lacey took it upon herself to take action. She tossed away all the warnings from her parents over the years and ventured outside.

The level of radiation in their neighborhood was quite high, as they had never lived in a good neighborhood in the first place. Manholes on the street would shudder and shake from the immense skin melting steam underground that tried desperately to breach the surface. Every once in awhile the pressure would reach it's tipping point and a manhole would fly up into the air and toxic gas would be released to plague any creatures that lurked nearby. Lacey took great care to steer clear of these happenings as she searched high and low for Arthur. A muffled cry to her right, drew her attention to what looked like something struggling inside a black trash bag. Halting her search, Lacey crept forward cautiously until she was about two feet away from the struggling creature and stared at the sight in horror. The creature wasn't trapped inside of the trash bag, it was the trash bag and it had her brother's eyes and curly brown hair. Lacey's sisterly instincts kicked in and she reached forward to grab her warped and mutated brother but once again she stopped when she noticed something else. In her urgency to help the creature, she had neglected to look at where she was going. Lacey and her brother were now crouching atop a shuddering and shaking manhole cover. Lacey grabbed her brother, trying to drag him off of the thing but the boy's newly warped limbs had stuck to the manhole and they couldn't move. Lacey didn't want to leave her brother but she also didn't want to die because she had the rest of her family waiting for her. She didn't want her mother to have to deal with two more deaths, so Lacey made a grave decision. She released her brother and began to scramble backwards, he was as good as dead anyway, was what she told herself. Her brother stared at her with huge tear filled eyes, but Lacey wouldn't meet his gaze. She was almost clear of the manhole cover when suddenly the steam underneath reached it's tipping point and she was launched into the air.

The sudden trauma made her lose consciousness and when she awoke, she was nowhere near her the area that she found familiar. But that didn't quite matter to her, as she was having trouble remembering who she was and why she was out there in the first place. She was also wondering why she was in...so much pain. Turns out that when the manhole exploded, it broke into multiple fragments and when the radioactive steam melted her skin, the metal warped onto her, turning her into a half organic, half metal monster. When Lacey tried to get to her feet, she was suddenly pushed down by a woman she hadn't noticed earlier. The woman sported a self satisfied smirk and proceeded to tell Lacey that the only reason she was still alive was because she saved her. The woman, who used to be a surgeon when life was good, used her skills and rudimentary tools to alter Lacey's unconscious body so that the metal only covered her hands and legs. "I saved you, I bathed you, I clothed you, and I fed you. Now what are you, gonna do for me?"

For the next five years, Lacey (who couldn't recall her real name so she was sarcastically called, 'Rusty') acted as the ex-surgeon's body guard. She would use her metal enhancements to fight off any intruders who tried to steal from her boss, and she would kill any creatures who tried to kill them. Rusty didn't necessarily like this life, but she couldn't remember the one she had before, so she stayed. All of this changed however, when her boss got sick and ordered her to travel to City 47 to get her medicine. Rusty made the trip successfully but upon reaching the city, she realized that she had no real reason to return to her boss. She realized she could be her own boss and so she did. She bullied her way into getting a nice headquarters and for a time she lounged around, enjoying her freedom and doing as she pleased but eventually she began to feel the urge to do more. At first she though that the urge was guilt for abandoning her former boss, but she figured that even if she went back, the woman would probably be dead. Besides, she had no intention of serving her again.

One night, Rusty witnessed a brutal crime stopped by the being that people called, 'Bat Boy'. And even though the boy looked frightening, he was still sort of beloved and Rusty realized that she wanted to feel the same way, and so began her quest to become a vigilante. Unfortunately, Rusty didn't have the same stealth abilities as Bat Boy, nor did she have the mysterious aura. The people that she saved where horrified by her warped appearance and Rusty set out to make herself look more desirable. She stopped wearing the rags that she had gotten from her old boss, and painstakingly created a costume. She painted her face with blue paint, got someone to give her a sew in, apply false lashes and draw on her eyebrows. There was nothing she could do for her eyes, as they had changed to a glowing blue color after her accident and could not sustain contacts. She hoped that people would at least find that pretty and not scary now that she had clothing that didn't make her look like a sewer creature.

Her efforts did help her and now some of the people she saved would thank her from a distance and run away instead of screaming in terror while running away. She practiced this vigilante business for awhile before the fliers fell from the sky. At first Rusty thought the fliers were a hoax or a trap, but when Bat Boy disappeared, Rusty figured he must have gone in search of the Justice League Auditions. After awhile Rusty did the same but before she left, she shed her name and took on another more appealing one;

LJIKUWZ.jpg

Name: Runa Yggdrasil
Alias: None at the moment. ("Huh? We should do that sort of thing?")
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexuality: "What's sex?"
Height: Average. She gains a few inches of height when in her "uniform," however.

Powers:
Rapid Adaptation: Runa's body quickly adapts to any environment, allowing her to survive just fine in most any place. Extremes of pressure, temperature, and most other environmental conditions hardly inconvenience her. She can even survive in space without issue. She is also extremely resistant to poisons and diseases, as her body can quickly adapt to and stop them, too.

Regeneration: Runa heals extremely quickly, and can recover from most injuries in a matter of days, at the worst. If she suffers something truly severe, such as the loss of a limb or an even larger percentage of her body, it could take her quite a bit longer. For a behind the curtain look on things, this generally pushes up the sort of injury she feels is inconvenient, so to her, a flesh wound is just getting shot, not getting grazed by a bullet. She's going to suffer violent, bloody injuries because those are the sort she won't just shrug off. I'm going to try and keep this from getting too ridiculous either way, though it is an open invitation to main her in fights. If it matters for a sort of gameplay standpoint, she'd be able to heal one wound every minute or so, usually starting from the worst injury or condition (for example, if she's unconscious and otherwise injured, she'd wake up fist, but still only be able to stagger around for a while until she recovers more fully).

Limited shapeshifting: Runa can alter her body in various ways, at will. She can't just look like anyone she wants to; she only has one natural human form, and her armored inhuman "hero" form. She can grow claws, blades, tentacles, or thick armored hide to get an edge in a fight, and her hair is also prehensile, as it's technically not just dead tissue like normal hair should be. She could grow an extra eye on a hand or the tip of a tentacle to glance around corners, or probably find one or another way to cling on walls with relative ease, at least for a while. Anything particularly complex is beyond her abilities at the moment. She can manage alterations that put horror movie special effects to shame, if she just wants to frighten or intimidate someone, sometimes without even trying or meaning to.

Flight: Run has achieved that lifelong dream of many, and can fly under her own power. A side-effect of her flying creates a gravitational disturbance ahead of her which can pick up and collect light debris, such as leaves or raindrops.

Weaknesses:
I'll preface this by saying that I hate that the majority of these are more personal quirks or personality traits, than something as concrete as Kryptonite. I'll do my best to include ways to just generally trip her up or keep her from being particularly effective, whatever the case.

Put bluntly, Runa's a naive idiot. She doesn't have much of a clue about the world, or about the people in it, and is easily tricked. She's the sort of person who'd take candy from strangers because it means she gets candy. She doesn't really "get' the whole maintaining a secret identity thing, nor does she always understand that everyone else might think it's a little strange to walk into a convenience store when one is covered in one's own blood or looks more like a monster than a person. Similarly, jumping off a two story building to get to the ground is much faster than taking the stairs, and so it goes.

She needs to eat quite a lot, in order to maintain her metabolism at its usual rate. Biomass doesn't just come from nothing, and while she can derive nutrition from just about any organic matter, she still needs a lot of food. And obviously prefers something decent, when she can. Her photo may well already be posted next to a few warnings at many all you can eat establishments. If she lacks sufficient food, her ability to heal will probably be the first thing that is reduced.

She might heal fast, but Runa is not immune to pain. Getting shot won't likely kill her, but it still hurts, so it's not a completely ineffective threat. She'd eventually reach a limit and need to stop. It's also really easy to torture someone who doesn't die easily and will get better really quickly.

Some general ways to deal with her: Threaten people around her. Have a clever plan, because someone else would have to figure it out. Keep at range, she's primarily dangerous up close, but can't shoot back. Any drug specifically tailored to her physiology will work as intended. She can only heal so quickly, so multiple sources of damage or otherwise hitting her more often will wear her down.

Personality:
As mentioned above, Runa is fairly naive and doesn't keep the best lid on her abilities, nor does she see them as the least bit unnatural or surprising. When she does remember to pretend to be normal, she often overcompensates, leading to situations such as covering herself in unnecessary bandages to feign injury. She's a cheerful, energetic person with a tomboyish streak, despite being of an age to have outgrown it.

Her views on things like justice and heroism aren't completely black and white, but they aren't very nuanced either. She feels that power should be used for the right reasons, and those are usually to help other people. Since she looks up to the the original high-profile members of the Justice League, she avoids killing whenever possible, feeling that it's unbecoming of a hero to do something like carry a gun or take everything into her own hands and become judge, jury, and executioner. Such a mindset may be a bit outdated in such trying times. Choosing between her ideals, duty, and friendship would be particularly trying for her, in any situation where they come into conflict.

Like many her age, she can be temperamental and become easily frustrated or annoyed when things don't go her way or people disagree with her, and one of the few times she is likely to plan is when she feels a need for petty revenge. She at least sticks to relatively harmless (i.e. nonviolent) pranks, although this doesn't make it any less annoying. If one would rather bribe their way out of her wrath, peace offerings of food work wonders, and are light on the pocketbook, given she considers cheap instant ramen to be a delicacy.

Some other assorted quirks:
Runa enjoys chewing gum, and usually has some of one type or another on hand.
If she figures out something she does bothers one of her friends, she'll probably keep doing it just to tease them or be contrary. Particularly if she can find some technicality on any requests for her to stop.

History:
Decades ago, a Metropolitan expedition in Antarctica excavated a strange alien lifeform from deep within the ice. The alien was later identified as a "red" Martian, based on similarity to known members of the Martian race. The researchers concluded that it must have somehow been carried from its home planet to the Earth, possibly by some means of meteor impact, in the distant past. After a few...incidents involving the sample being not quite as dead and harmless as it seemed, it was deemed a dangerous threat by the government, and sequestered away in a carefully-prepared laboratory. Research on the Martian and its tissues provided multiple breakthroughs in biotechnology fields.

Using these techniques and samples carefully acquired from the government, a group of LexCorp scientists began the Yggdrasil Project, which pushed the limits of these developments beyond what any thought possible. And, it turned out, beyond what most would consider ethical. The development of a Martian/Human hybrid held much promise to provide a new means of protecting Earth against its many superhuman threats. The project was fraught with ethical issues, and eventually, was privately seized and shut down by the government, resulting in the destruction of the majority of records and research materials. One complete hybrid specimen, codenamed Runa, lived on in secret, for observation purposes.

The majority of Runa's life so far has been spent in various laboratory environments. She was subjected to various tests and examinations to see just how her body has been developing, and for the most part, everyone is quite thankful she hews closer to human than not. She's been given a basic education, but grew up largely sheltered from the world, until recently. With all these other superhuman beings running around, she was deployed as a "hero" (her own idea, to be fair, likely inspired by stories of actual superheroes and their exploits), to try and put a stop to some of the criminals and other undesirables running around. She hasn't been active very long, but has a fair bit of leeway in her actions. As a government agent, she gets a good bit of support, but also has to actually follow their orders, when they do have specific ones for her.

Present day, present time
Although most of her early life was spent in one laboratory or another, Runa currently resides in Metropolis, where she lives with a surrogate family of trusted and cleared researchers. She attends school, runs errands, and is otherwise socialized fairly well, which probably comes as a relief to anyone watching from the sidelines. Her occasional stunt as a superhuman vigilante is downplayed when possible, and sometimes encouraged. It's not unknown for her to be specifically sent to stop the occasional obvious superhuman criminal, although in the general climate of fear and distrust, even these events are rare.

She isn't the sort of person who would somehow miss the news of a renewed Justice League or similar major event, and is more likely to be among the first to rush out and start acting like an over-excited puppy right there at the new headquarters. Were one to attempt a background check, information relating to her origins and any ties to outside organizations have been carefully expunged. She's just another metahuman of some sort or another, not that she ever was anybody's pet superhuman, so much as a lab specimen.

She's quite excited to meet other superheroes and possibly make a real difference in the world.

Rogues' Gallery:
Not exactly a nemesis, but her biggest threat and enemy at the moment is her own creator. The man is an extremist who believes that humanity must take control of its own evolution to control its destiny, and will push the world there if he has to. He wants to create the ultimate lifeform, or transform mankind into it. The guy is very much a transhumanist. Of course, without access to things like his Yggdrasil project or the alien from which it was derived, he's taken a major setback, and would love to get his hands back on his research sample. Or the lab notebook she uses for a personal journal. He's not much of a fighter himself, although his knowledge of biological and genetic engineering allows him to create various monstrous creatures to handle that job for him.

The other obvious antagonists for her are other horrible aliens.

Plot Hooks:
Runa emits some sort of signal that will attract the attention of the alien species she's based upon, and will eventually draw them to Earth, or specifically her location, should it not be Earth.

Speaking of alien menaces, experimenting on them is probably forbidden by Galactic law. On the plus side, most other aliens are likely to react in...interesting ways when they figure out just what Runa is.

I'm curious. What sort of characters are you guys thinking of putting together?

I'm really not sure yet. I'm currently debating between someone non-powered or maybe a Lantern. Your character looks interesting c:

The multicolored Lanterns are always pretty fun, from what I've seen. And if the previous Green Lantern of Earth was executed...well, someone's had to have taken over the sector by now.

I honestly only had a character ready to go due to shamelessly reusing ideas, but when one just won't go away, I guess it happens sometimes.

Right? They are really fun. I was thinking Blue, but I'm still not decided on anything yet.

Psh, that's okay. You can use the same character and still get different results every time with a new world. I'm looking forward to seeing how the whole thing develops.

I'm looking forward to it, too.

[BCOLOR=transparent]Transducing[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Transducers are human antennas that have the ability to intercept communications and encrypted messages with their minds. They can literally "see" electromagnetic wavelengths but have also been shown to hear noises produced from the frequencies that even a synesthete can't hear.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Transducers can read a wide range of frequencies but can become easily overwhelmed when they are unable to turn these signals off. Using this ability also produces headaches if the person uses it continuously for extended periods of time. Transducers can see wavelengths in colors and shapes.[/BCOLOR]

Sub-powers:

[BCOLOR=transparent]Decryption: Phones and other electronics can be penetrated or hacked by Transducers. (Either manually or mentally.)[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Disability Immunity: [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]Immune to influencing and subliminal messages, also immune to those who can use telepathy or mind control.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Immunity to those who read facial expressions or body language.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]One who can determine the truthfulness of other people's statements by reading their micro-expressions might find this impossible with transducers.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Nature Signal Detection:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Electromagnetic signals found in nature can also be detected, translated, and transmitted. One was able to transmit signals to a swarm of bees, commanding them to move away from the victim.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]A transducer is a device that converts one form of energy to another. Energy types include (but are not limited to) electrical, mechanical, electromagnetic (including light), chemical, acoustic or thermal energy. While the term transducer commonly implies the use of a sensor/detector, any device which converts energy can be considered a transducer. Transducers are widely used in measuring instruments.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Kate is a transducer who can perceive and manipulate electromagnetic wavelengths. Kate can perceive electromagnetic signals and waves as streams of lights and colors all around her to literally read texts, hear transmissions, and watch videos being transmitted or simply connect to the internet. Using her ability Kate can hack into cell phone signals, television broadcasts, WiFi frequencies etc. using only her mind. Kate's abilities and skills make her incredibly efficient in hacking into restricted computer systems and tracking individuals through their digital devices as she can literally connect with electronic signals. Kate's ability can be dampened if the signals surrounding her are encrypted, and she can feel the signals but not reach them. An absence of technology and wifi makes Kate's abilities difficult or even impossible to use. However, In when Kate was separated from technology in the forest she realized that she could perceive all manner of electromagnetic waves including those found in nature, for example discerning the communication between plants and insects, hearing faint but distinct signals being passed back and forth. A downside to Kate's ability is the potential to be overwhelmed by incoming electronic signals, by streaming an E-mail bomb to a specific signal Kate is reading, forcing her to absorb a tremendous amount of data all at once.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Personality[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Intelligence Level: IQ: 198[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Mental Condition:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Bi-polar, Too smart for her own good, usually gets herself in trouble and danger. Thrill seeker and dangerous when in her 'moods'. Possible traits of Sociopathy.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Emotional Condition:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Good, although is usually blunt and has a hard time communicating without insults or references. Sarcastic, and child-like.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Sociability: Good, easy to talk to people.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]General Outlook: Positive[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Sexual Orientation:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Straight (But possibly Bi-curious)[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Mental Peculiarities:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Believes in impossible and far-fetched things.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Such as;[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Belief that Deja-vu, a feeling of having already experienced the present situation, happens because in another reality, you have done the same thing. This then is deciphered into nostalgia, which brings the feeling of Deja-vu.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Belief that there is another reality, based on which choices you make to get there.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Belief that people with other abilities or races are real.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Known Fears: Snakes, losing her ability, death.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Weaknesses:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] She has intimacy issues, problems with respect and she can be extremely irritable. If there is no technology or wifi signals in the air, or around her in one square mile, it will become increasingly difficult to use her ability. She has been able to expand her ability to a wider radius, but she develops migraines and can pass out. It is dangerous for her to do so, but it can be done. She cannot use her ability for more than seven hours in a row, because it will create headaches for her and could develop into an aneurysm. She has a problem talking to new people and can come off grumpy or mean, but she has a good heart. It takes her a while to get used to people, as she is used to people using her. Her walls protect her but don't get on her bad side, she can be a great asset to any team, but can also be detrimental to a team she does not like.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Weird, not really useful facts:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] She has been in Juvie.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]She once got a job for a year as a private investigator. She mostly spied on people's texts and came up with evidence that the investigatee was cheating or something. It was quite humorous for her.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]She has a literal sign on her door that says 'Computer, phone, tablet and radio repairs. If you screw it up, take it to us so we can screw it back'.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Her room is a horrible mess, computer parts, desk, and motherboards in one corner, dresser in another, and bed by the window.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Ever stepped on a computer part? It hurts worse than a lego.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]When fixing computers, or computer-related devices, she often will talk to them, like one would talk to a newborn or child, often feeling more compassion for computers than humans.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Ambition Level: [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]Ten/Hyper.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Biographical Data[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Ethnicity: German, Irish, English, American.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Birth Father:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Duke Monroe.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Birth Mother:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Amelia Dane[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Birth Order: Only child.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Known Immediate Family: Grandmother, Aunt.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Brothers:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] None[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Sisters:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] It was rumored after her mother took off, that she had had a second child, but Kate never found out if that was true or not.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Educational Level:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Extremely intelligent.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Known Languages: [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]French, German, English, ASL, Klingon, Morse code, Computer code and wavelengths.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Talents and Skills:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Able to strip any computer, communicate with computers, (Literally be able to send commands or override a computer with her mind, she can ride the wavelengths to actually get into a computer, phone, or another electronic device. Can view cameras/sensors and override them. She is the best tool for a bank robbery/prison escape. She's extremely good in hacking, even without using her ability. She only uses her ability for seven hours a day maximum, because she develops headaches if she uses it more than ten hours at a time.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]She is a master inventor, creator and has impressive intelligence. She can literally ‘see’ the components and parts needed to make a particular device. Along with that, she is extremely adept at making plans, and understanding complex situations. She prefers computers over humans, and even went so far as to invent a computer named Albert, which resides in her mind.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]When Kate was a little girl, a family friend on her mother’s side named Ally came to visit them. Ally was a technopath like Kate, and Ally had been in contact with Kate’s father, when he contacted her asking for her help. Kate had been going a bit stir crazy, and had torn apart almost everything electric in the house. The Radio, the Television, the Stereo, her Father’s two laptops and his phone.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Kate had torn apart these devices to build something. Her father had recently come home, and he had been demoted in the company he worked at. Kate had seen an ad on the TV for a robot car. Kate had wanted it to show around at school, but her father didn’t have the money. So kate decided to build it herself. It took two hours and a steady hand, but at the end of her voyage, Kate had herself a robot. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Of course, what she took apart probably cost more than the robot itself, but the lesson remains the same. Kate was smart, smarter than her father could handle, which eventually led to the onset of her father’s anger. However, she always tried to keep that childlike wonder inside of her, even if she didn’t end up so happily ever after, after all.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Good with computers, including hard-drives and the physical aspects of them. Has a small computer shop in her room, and can fix a phone, radio or computer in under five minutes. (Her record speed.)[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]She can fight moderately well, but her skills are mostly learned from the street. She got into many fights when she hung out with the bad kids in her town, and at one point even participated in street fights for money.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]She is good at gymnastics, although she never pursued gymnastics. Most of her fighting skills use Gymnastics and upper-body strength to defeat her opponent.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Bio:[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Her mother was never really in Kate's life, leaving her father with Kate right after her mother gave birth. She has thought that maybe her sarcasm, bi-polar disorder and intimacy issues came from her mother, but it is unknown. When Kate was seven, her father met another woman and fell in love. After getting married, they moved to another city to live there when her father got a promotion to be the head of a large branch office for an important company.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]When Kate was ten, Two years after her father had re-married, his wife, Alice, died in a car accident, while she was pregnant with Kate’s half-brother.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]After they died, her father grew cold and became distant, taking time off work and losing his mind at the bottom of a bottle. After six months of heavy drinking, he started to become abusive, taking his anger out on his daughter. This caused Kate to spend every moment she could outside the house and instead with bad influences, even going as far as to sleep over at other people’s houses as often as she could. After a few years hanging out with the ‘bad’ crowd, Kate got involved in a gas station robbery that her ‘friends’ were going to rob. She unknowingly participated in stealing alcohol from the gas station and subsequently got arrested when her fingerprints were found at the scene. She spent a year and three months in Juvie. On the day she was getting released, her father showed up, drunk. While driving home, he couldn’t keep control of the wheel and he crashed into a power line, which snapped and the live wire fell on the car. Kate woke up and tried to get out of the car, touching the metal door handle. She was electrocuted and passed out on the chairs. She awoke later in the hospital, suddenly seeing things floating in the air around her. She was admitted for a concussion, but no electrical burns even though she distinctly remembered pain.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]A week after her injuries, a man approached her with a distinct cause. Help her refine her abilities, and train her amidst other people who are just like her. So she packed her bags, got her plane ticket, and returned to Metropolis City, her hometown.[/BCOLOR]

@Solar, is there anything I should add to of change in my CS? I might as well ask for a final review.

Should we use real pictures or drawings?

@neptune Does not matter. I don't think it does at least. Both are accepted since we can always use our imagination to visualize the story anyways :). Naturally Id prefer animated pictures but I totally accept both.

@R-9 Pilot Will be reading your CS shortly. I've been a bit busy today with my new RP universe' world building but I'll be working on my CS and managing this thread a bit tonight.

An Announcement for Everyone
Glad to see the growing interest. Thank you for joining everyone! When this group's CS are complete do you think its a fair idea to begin D-Day: Initiation?

I'm good to go once we've got some characters and an idea of how they know each other.

Hey guys!
I was making my CS and noticed we need a predetermined way of deciding
1. Where are our characters placed in this world.
2. How are they introduced and getting to the D Day auditions at the New Hall of Justice.

If you can make a header in your CS called "Today" thatd be cool. You can fill it up with a solo scene that describes the two or you can type in plain text like the rest of your CS. (Im interested in the first so Ill be doing that. Sounds like fun!).

The first way will also let others and myself see how your characters operate and react to their environments a bit so we warm up a bit to eachother.

Please also make good use of spoilers and color. Lets try to keep our posts from being difficult to read.

Thanks!
Your Local GM :)

I made a few edits to add more things to the sheet. Still not sure of any likely character-related text color for posting and things, but it will probably be in the red area of the spectrum.

I can move Runa out of Metropolis to pretty much anywhere else that might be interesting or appropriate. It doesn't matter much.

Also, a question: it's the future, so what's the general tech level we're looking at? Are flying cars and other stuff one might expect in Batman Beyond common? Or did technology go in a different direction?
