History:
Bart was viewed as a delinquent. He had an intense case of ADHD which lead to him having failing grades in class. However he always did really well on tests. The fact wasn't that he wasn't paying attention; most of the classes held no interest for him so the class work didn't get done or he'd forget to turn it and lose it if it had gotten done. Aside from that he also would get into many fights, often with people that were much larger than himself, and he didn't always lose and he never quit. Fighting was something that had his interest. It was something real, it impacted him in ways that mattered. His parents loved him dearly, they understood how he was and tried to help any way they could but they couldn't afford special classes the teachers were adamantly requesting for him to catch up. They tried putting him into a couple different martial arts programs, maybe if they gave him a constructive outlet for his interest for fighting, he'd do better in school. It never lasted long, Bart was always implimenting what he'd learned in street fights during the classes, and they penalized him. He grew increasingly frustrated by all these rules, fed up with proffesional martial arts classes; it wasn't real fighting.

One day on a whim he looked up martial arts on CraigsList, and that's how he found his master. He met with the dude, expecting disapointment, but hoping for something different. He was not disapointed. This man liked like a regular guy, not proffesional at all, some kind of Asian, kind of old. Right away the old dude started fighting Bart, Bart didn't hesitate and fought back. They found kindred spirits in one another and became best friends due to everyone he tried to teach quit because they said it was "too extreme". The old guy made him a deal, if he kept his grades up, he'd teach him true martial arts. Bart accepted, his grades went up enough in time for him to finish his last year of middle school. He continued studying with the old asian dude (who's name was Hong by the way) exceled in his classes until he graduated by which time Hong was like part of the family. Hong told him that he couldn't teach him any more, he was getting old and what not. Bart was somewhat bitter, it made him feel like he had no purpose, and he certainly wasn't going to get stuck with a job. Hong expressed his gratitude for hanging out with an old geezer all these years and giving his life some purpose again, he told Bart to go into the world and find other people to fight. So Bart had dinner with his family and Hong one last time before leaving town. Two days after he'd been gone he got a phone call from his parents, explaining to him that Hong had died from a medical condition he'd had for a long time. It devastated Bart, but he decided to keep the old dude's spirit alive. That way it felt like Hong would always be around.
