Childhood shows and nostalgia

So, I happened to think about my favorite shows from my childhood and do know they influenced me greatly as a kid. I'm not talking about the shows that I thought were cool, but the ones you absolutely had to watch and still feel no shame for watching. *looks at some of the shows I used to watch and cringe about now* Yeah...

My true enjoyments were MacGuyver and Charmed, and to a lesser degree Scooby-Doo. MacGuyver was the really clever hero that could solve problems with a pocket knife and wits, I admired that and was eager to be in time to watch it when I came home from school. In Charmed there was a cast of widely different characters, both good and bad, that grew over time. Following their growth was, and still is, something I love. Scooby-Doo is just charmingly cute.

So, I'm a little curious, what kinda shows have you guys watched and can still watch? How did they affect you?

Digimon.

Every time I hear a Digimon digivolving, I get goosebumps. I have no idea why.

Cardcaptor Sakura, Doraemon, and Sailor Moon! Also, Power Rangers!

They all filled my childhood with...

Saint Seiya, DBZ, PMan, Doraemon, Digimon, and Pokemon season 1. Yeah mostly anime, as for cartoon, Martin mystery and teen titan

YEEESSSS.

Digimon was probably the first and one of the only shows that I watched because I actually really enjoyed it, as opposed to just watching stuff because it was on and without really questioning whether or not it was good (which, I mean, all kids do that).

Digimon Tamers (season 3) in particular was what really got me, and I still love that show to pieces. A lot of the other seasons can admittedly be a little cheesy, looking back on them, but they're still fun to watch for nostalgia's sake. Tamers, though -- man, that shit was dark. "Scary Jeri" was and probably always will be the most terrifying thing I have ever seen in a kids' show. And, aside from a bit of quirky dub dialogue and at times visibly budgeted animation, there isn't much that really stands out to me to dislike about it as an adult.

I own the entire series on DVD.

Also Digimon, Pokemon, Thundercats, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Rocket Power and many more I can't think of right now.

Tamers was great.

I started with the Season 1. But I really loved all of it. Even the new ones (although kinda eh a lot of the time) still have some
interesting values and concepts to them.

I haven't really rewatched shows from my childhood, mainly because lack of availability and fear of destroying nostalgia by discovering youngling I had awful taste.

That said, I caught the first season of Beast Wars on Netflix last year and was actually really impressed with how watchable it still is.

When I was a wee lad, MTV didn't suck. It wasn't full of nonsense shows, just music videos. When it came to Saturday mornings, you'd more likely find me dancing around the living room to "Walk This Way" or "Rock The Casbah" instead of watching cartoons.

It did influence me, too, and not only in the sense where I really love music. For a time, I wanted to be a producer. Even now, I wouldn't say no if the opportunity to learn about production presented itself.

Pokémon, Scooby Doo, Josie and the Pussycats(lolneveragain), the Smurfs, the Snorks(I don't actually recall if that's the correct name hnggg), Hong Kong Fuey..
INVADER FREAKING ZIM
..and a bunch of other stuff that I don't actually recall. :D

Now these are all shows that I used to watch. I have not gotten around to rewatching them to see if they are still good, except for a few. I recently watched Yu-gi-oh! which wasn't that bad, so I can still watch it. Pokemon isn't that bad either, however when I watched Digimon I couldn't get passed the first three episodes because how terribad the dialogue was. I still love everything disney. Ghost Whisperer is still pretty great. I tried rewatching sailormoon, but the site I was using had the episodes all messed up. I know I loved Invader Zim growing up, but these days it makes me cringe. Though I would say it is definitely better than happy tree friends which I can't even watch with how awful the content is (I didn't enjoy watching the gorey deaths of adorable woodland creatures and I question the sanity of anyone who enjoys that show).

I enjoy watching scooby-doo rereuns and spongebob reruns.

KIM POSSIBLE AND DANNY PHANTOM. ALL OF MY YES.
Dude I want them to make a Kim Possible reboot so bad and the new star is Kim and Ron's daughter that way my siblings can like it, then I can be all like "YOU THINK THIS IS GOOD HERE IS THE ORIGINAL SERIES!" *dumps kim possible and all my old shows on them*

YESSSS OH MY GOD THIS WOULD BE SO AMAZING

I ALSO WISH THAT INVADER ZIM HADN'T BEEN CANCELLED, AND THAT DANNY PHANTOM WAS STILL ONGOING(But at least that show got a decent ending).

Though, they actually continued IZ via a new comic series. :D

Yeah. :0

I believe it's released by Oni Press, and I'm not sure if any issues have been released quite yet.. Except maybe the first one. Haven't had the chance to check that out further yet.
