So, peep this:
Alternate universe Hong Kong setting but definitely post-industrialization with slight hovercraft flitting about, like pictured below.
On one side of the river is a tea house.
The other is a coffee shop.
Just like leaving it on the pot or letting the leaves steep too long they are bitter enemies. (Hurr, get it?)
Well more like rivals actually. More than just in their business even their employees are rivals. The shops are only blocks away from the locally dubbed "Martial Arts Town", the section of town that is host to almost 89% of the entire region's martial arts schools large and small alike. The proprietors of each shop are themselves alumni of the schools.
(Also there's a large chain bakery shop caught between the two of them since it supplies both stores with their pastries and miscellaneous baked good needs.)
So the coffee shop employees and tea house employees are the young folk currently studying under whatever school of martial art they dedicated themselves to, the proprietors are the old folk 38 yrs. old and up.
The bakery shop and its employees... well, who gives a fuck about them they're the neutral party-- they're the stage in which the coffee and tea people have their tense yet polite show downs etc.
So a secret revealed! A foreigner business wants in on the neighborhood and the locations of the coffee shop and tea house have been scouted! Both must now scramble to keep their business in tact. Which is a prime time for the town's festival celebrating... something distracting enough that shop sabotages, alleyway ambush fighting and disruptions of regular business hours can take place.
So while the young folk are off having their epic mano a mano wuxia fights, the old folk are "negotiating" with the foreigner business proprietors which actually devolves into more wuxia fighting with slight mecha action. (alternate technology vehicles modded to carry things like robo-fists and the like).
Possibilites of...
Kidnapping! (Probably of one of the old folks by the invading business to strong-arm either store into giving up their location or whatever)
Romance! (Scandalous rivalries turned into trysts!)
Sabotage! (Of shops, or rerouting the bakery's deliveries to either store, of regular business hours)
Wuxia showdowns! (In the neutral territory of the bakery or the Town Celebration-motivated tournament between the coffee shop and tea house)
Some... other things I haven't thought of! Now what does all entail for you as the player?
You get to make up a silly wuxia-style nick name and fight people, even fall in love and be tragically torn from them because of stupid rivalries. You might even get to pilot a hoverscooter that's been outfitted with a cannon that shoots out day old baguettes (because if you actually shot the competition with real bullets we'd spend more time RPing in a jail than in an urban neighborhood which is less exciting).
So my question is this: You down?
