The CBox and RPBox are fun places to be! They're even more fun when you know all the tricks!

This Guide is here to teach you just that.

Entering the Chat
When you enter the CBox, you need to sign in. You can use any name you'd like, but most use their username so other chatters know who they are. When you sign in, you can choose whatever colour you'd like to use, and also choose an entry action. The default action is "enters", but you can write whatever you'd like.

Even though you selected a colour, your entry post will be grey. This lets everyone know that you are entering.

Don't worry. Your next post will have the colour you chose.

Name Change
Oops! I didn't want to use that name to enter. But I can change it without logging out of the CBox. There are 2 commands you can use
to do this:

You can use either of these commands, and you will get this result:

Customizing Your Look
Not satisfied with the colour choices in the colour dropdown menu, or want to choose an exact colour without flooding the cbox while you try to decide? The CBox uses Hex Colour Codes. You can choose any code and any of the following commands:

You will not get a confirmation of the colour change.

In addition to changing your colour, you can also change your font. The CBox uses CSS font-family. You can use one of the following commands:

Each font will look like this:

Remember that not every computer or device can read every font, or may display the fonts and colours differently. If you cannot read someone's posts due to their font or colour, you may politely request they change it.

If you decide to change your font back to the original, you use the following command:

Performing Actions
One of the first things you might notice is the ACTION post. This is one of the most common tricks used in the CBox. There are a few different commands you can use to accomplish this. Choose whichever is easiest for you to remember:

Your post will look like this:

If you take part in a turn-based ChatRP that uses dice, there is a dice command, /roll #d#. The first number is the amount of dice you're using, and the second number is how many sides the dice have. It is used like so:

attachment.php

The resulting numbers are random and are calculated for you:

attachment.php

Also, if you're trying to choose between two or more options, there is a command that will choose FOR you! Use the command /choose and then list your options, separated by a colon, like so:

attachment.php

Your randomly chosen option will be displayed as an action:

You can list as many options as you'd like.

Interacting with Others
In the CBox, there is a natural timeout, in which you will be automatically logged out after about 45 minutes of inactivity. If you have nothing to add to the conversation, simply hitting 'POST' on an empty text box occasionally will keep you logged in. However, if you're going away from the keyboard, or will be distracted for awhile, you can post an away message to let folks know what you're up to:

attachment.php

When you go away, your message and status will be displayed like this:

attachment.php

attachment.php

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you go away, be careful not to close the window! You will remain logged in indefinitely if a mod or staff member does not remove your name. The away status is not meant to be a long-term status. Names which are on away status for more than an hour may be booted by a mod or staff member.

If you'd like to share part of a story or show that contains 'spoilers', you can use a BBCode spoiler tag, much like in a forum post:

attachment.php

It will display like this:

attachment.php

Finally, if there is another chatter who is annoying or distracting, you can block their posts from your view:

attachment.php

attachment.php

attachment.php

This action only lasts for a single session. If that person logs out and then back in, you will need to repeat the action. If you decide to view their posts again while they are still logged in:

attachment.php

The chat will show all their past posts.

Remember, if you are being harassed in the CBox, please notify a mod or staff member to deal with them.

GM Commands
If you are GMing a ChatRP, want to share a song or just set a scene, there are three commands you can use:

All three commands display the same way, except for colour:

attachment.php

Each have a set font colour.

Conclusion
That's pretty much everything you need to know! Remember: mods, staff and even other chatters can help if you have any questions! Be respectful, have fun, and happy chatting!
