THE JUIL BOAR CARAVAN
NOVEMBER THURSDAY THE 19TH @ 2PM TO 5PM CENTRAL TIME

Imanuil is a land that has been torn asunder by a terrible techomancy war. Once a single grand united empire of countries, the majority of the center half of the continent has become a massive fallout zone. Weapons of science and magic have created dangerous creatures and strange anomalies that've made these former countries uninhabitable for over a hundred years. Most who wish to travel go the long way around, either by sticking outside of the borders or sailing around the continent via the sea as even trying to fly over the Zone can be perilous.

For many, they simply can't afford that lengthy of a journey, or have reasons why they need to avoid traditional roads. These people enlist the help of Caravans to safely guide them through the fallout zone. Going through alone could mean almost certain death, so traveling in a group comes with advantages. But if you're not careful about who you hire, you might end up robbed and left for dead in the Zone.

You are a traveler and you've paid your fee to join the Juil Boar Caravan. They seem to have a good reputation, despite the fact they looked like a bunch of mercenaries. You are two days into your trip and there's still another week to traverse, so be prepared to spend many more evenings in your wagon, vehicle, or on the ground under the stars. Hopefully you brought food, because hunting and straying too far from the caravan is not recommended. Remember: The Juil Boars are paid to protect the caravan and guide them through the Zone, not chase after missing idiots!

EVENT INFO

WHO: Everyone is invited! Character Bios/Pics are not required, but totally encouraged! Post 'em if you got 'em.

WHAT: You can be a trader, a refugee, anything you can dream up! For some reason, risking your life was worth it over taking the longer route to where ever you're headed. This setting is SCIENCE FANTASY. Think a heavy fantasy world with a focus on magic and nature, that also developed and evolved technology. Like a planet you might see on Star Wars but without aliens of space travel, or even the aesthetic in the recent SHE-RA series! And yes! You can play magical creature races like elves or goblins or anything in between!

WHEN: NOVEMBER THURSDAY THE 19TH @ 2PM TO 5PM CENTRAL TIME

WHERE: Join us in the JUIL BOARD CARAVAN CHAT ROOM. You'll find the link to our chats in the CHAT tab when it's time to play.

HOW: This is a ADVENTURE ROLEPLAY WITH IMPROVISATIONAL GAME MASTERING. That means the object of this roleplay is to interact with other characters, and from those interactions I will create a plot and story around you. There will be action moments, where your characters may be in danger and will have to try to survive. With this ChaRP "lol random" behaviors are discouraged -- what your character says and does will have in game consequences, so choose wisely!

My roleplays are always NEWBIE FRIENDLY so even if you are terrible at roleplay or have never participated in a ChaRP before, this will be easy for you to get involved in. :D Ask questions, let me know when you need help. I often give tips and direction out of character in the main chat room when people need a little direction.

EASY CHARP TIPS!

Try to show up a good 10 to 15 minutes before the ChaRP is to begin. That way you can read up on any important info, and it makes it easier for your GM to know how to start off the ChaRP when there's a head count.

Don't worry if another player is doing something similar to your idea. DO IT ANYWAY! Similarities and things in common happen in real life too. Everyone also plays differently, so two characters who are both "sweet and shy" will still end up being totally unique people. Two assassins could create a fun and interesting conflict!

Talking to other players about their character before the roleplay is a GREAT way to create connections and background for your own!

Post SHORT AND FAST. Charps are very quick pace and contain a LOT of players. Players can't wait 20 minutes for you to write a wall of text, and if there's too much text they won't be able to read it fast enough and will MISS details. If it takes you longer than two minutes to type your post, you are taking too long and might get lost in the action. This is an exercise in quick and concise writing!

Make sure your character name is mentioned in every post, close to the start of it if possible. This is especially helpful when there's many players, so we know who is playing what character.

Like in Real Life, a character may not be able to acknowledge or notice your character immediately because they are engaged in doing something else. (For example a new character walking in to the room, but the other characters arguing about muffins and do not see them.) Don't get discouraged if you go can't get someone to interact with you right away. Just keep posting and doing actions with your character, or even approach others who also seem to be idle and it WILL happen.

Do not take events in the roleplay personally or assume that bad reactions are because they think you/your character sucks. Everyone is playing a character and reacting to things as their character would!

Name: Clary Starchaser
Age: 23
Gender Identity: Bisexual
Profession: Salvager | Smuggler | Mechanic
Personality: Clary is a loner with a gruff, stoic exterior that hides deep inner pain.

Bio:
Clary was born into the Starchaser Combine, a semi-nomadic culture of free spirits who get by as salvagers, adventurers, card sharps, traveling performers, smugglers, and other dubious professions best practiced by those who don't stay in one place for too long. When she was 16, the time came for her Quest, a coming-of-age rite in which a group of initiates goes into the Zone to find and retrieve something of value to contribute to the Combine.

Clary's group found a worthy prize indeed, a hoverskiff in nearly perfect condition. Clary was the best mechanic, so she set to work trying to get the vehicle working so they could make their escape back to safety. She was nearly finished, when she heard screams and weapon discharges coming from her compatriots. By the time she was able to crawl out of the engine compartment, sixgun at the ready, the others were already brutally maimed and beyond saving. Standing over their dying bodies was an eldrich fiend with several shriveled heads that floated over its body, attached by heavy iron chains: the Barrowman. Clary emptied her gun to no effect. The Barrowman taunted her. "Pity. If only you had worked a little faster, I might not have reached you in time. You will not die with these others. When the time is right, your head will float with these..." it said, before dissolving into a tangle of oily smoke.

Clary was able to finish repairs on the skiff and return from the Zone, but she could not bring herself to claim her membership in the Combine. Since then, she's taken dangerous transport jobs, smuggling runs, heists and various capers against people who deserve misfortune, on behalf of those who don't.

Clary's hoverskiff, the Golden Fox:

The hoverskiff uses superconducting electromagnets to ionize air underneath the vehicle and swirl it into toroidal vortices that generate ground-effect lift like a hovercraft, but without the limitations of a hovercraft's physical skirts. The Golden Fox can also fly, but that uses up the energy of its fuel cells much faster than its standard mode of travel.

Themes:

Extra: Clary will accept passengers and cargo in need of a fast skiff to get through the Zone.

this is todaaaaaaay!

WELCOME TO THE JUIL BOAR CARAVAN!

  • Diana:
This is a science fantasy setting! So we have a "post apocalyptic" setting that has a blend of tech and magic. You are part of the caravan traveling through the magical fallout zone where it's very dangerous.

  • Diana:
My roleplays are always NEWBIE FRIENDLY! You'll find me in the main chat if you have any questions or need direction in what to do. Don't worry about skill or typos, we're just here to have fun!

  • Diana:
KEEP IT SHORT. TYPE IT FAST. Write 10 sentences or less and don't take longer than five minutes. People miss details in big posts, and if you take too long to write, you miss out on action.

  • Diana:
Game master posts appear in this bright bold yellow, so make sure to pay attention to those because they're giving you hints and story tidbits!

  • Diana:
HOT TIP: Make sure your character name is in the first sentence of your post. You can also use bbcode color to help differentiate your posts from others.

The Juil Boar Caravan group is not the largest, or the most reputed caravan through the Zone, but when they take payment, they don't ask any questions. Sometimes that means some real shady individuals travel with the group. In fact there were a few greasy looking folks pulling a cart with a sheet covered cage in the back. But if anyone tried to look too close, a knife or a gun was subtly flashed. Especially now that the caravan was stopping in a wide clearing for the night.

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary picked a spot and aimed the nose of the Golden Fox toward the woods, the most likely direction for threats to come from (at least in theory...), and settled it down on its landing gear. With a sigh of equal parts exhaustion and relief, she started flipping switches to power the vehicle down. Well at least I ain't gotta worry 'bout that crazy goblin, she thought.

  • The Mood is Write:
Roselailaina wasn't sure why she'd paid for another trip with this caravan. Maybe they were just that cheap and available. Maybe she was a masochist. Either way, she prepared for bullshit. This time, she was surrounded in a dark aura, and anyone who looked at her too long as she read from a dark tome could see tentacles and dark things in their periphery.

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky was struggling inside of his cage, unable to speak or cry out for help. He felt his tail twitch as he listened to what was going on. The deer centaur wanted to return home to his field that had the best grass.

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary hadn't heard any explosions lately, so maybe he wasn't on this trek. She did see a familiar face once she disembarked though. Huh, she thought, noticing the weird effects that came with looking at the...wizard, or whatever she was. "Heya," she said, giving Rose a nod.

  • Diana:
THUMPTHUMP. "Be quiet in there or I'mma skin you alive," hissed a gangly bastard with a pookashell necklace as he clonked on the cage in the suspicious wagon. No one could see what was in there, due to the sheet covering it, but it had to be an animal, right?

  • AnxiousEnby:
He whimpered into the cloth that stopped him from speaking, ears flickering but forcing himself to still. The creature didn't want to be killed and was very afraid of what could happen to him.

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary turned to squint suspiciously at the wagon. The scalawags guarding it were mighty secretive of their "cargo," and she didn't like the places her imagination went. But...she'd end up in a gunfight if she tried to nose into their business, and the Caravan guards would be on their side.

  • The Mood is Write:
"Hello again," Roselailaina greeted. She followed the other's gaze and tilted her head. "Slave cargo," she whispered.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
Mithra slowly wandered on the edge of the caravan, enamoured by her own distraction to a small patch of flowers nearby the wagon.

  • Diana:
Those thotwaffles we're paying attention to all that were staring too, as Clary got one hella nasty glare from a burly woman with hairy arms. "Mind ya bi'ness!" she shouted out. Then chuckled with the rest of her crew.

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary nodded to Rose's comment, then replied "Piss off!" to the hairy slaver gorilla woman.

  • Dawn:
Tattooed, pierced, and resting bitch face. That was Gasket in a nutshell, and he looked particularly grumpy right now as he adjusted the harness on his moss beast. The creature had spindly legs, three-toed feet that were also slightly webbed. The ratty, long fur all over its body looked a lot like moss, hence the name. Ket tightened an undercarriage strap and the beast promptly kicked whatever was behind it. Ket sighed.

  • AnxiousEnby:
The deer would lay still in the cart, not sure whether he should struggle or not because he didn't know if he would die. He whimpered lightly but it was doubtful that anyone would be able to hear him.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
The small bluejay child spotted the moss beast, wandering up to it with the confidence of a soldier born in the fires of intense battle. "Grassy." She noted, pointing to Ket's moss beast.

  • Diana:
"OY! YOU CAN SUCK MY FAT CLI-" The hairy woman got elbowed by one of her greasy travel companions and hissed at to stop drawing more attention to their group. There was a bit of a grumbling, but they returned to making their camp, much as the rest of the traveling caravan. Ever so often the scraggly fellow would check on the contents of his cage.

  • The Mood is Write:
"Dare me to start something?" Rose asked under her breath.

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary gave Rose a lopsided grin. "Well, I don't rightly know what you can start an' finish with that arcane jiggery-pokery o' yours. All I got is my sixguns and my sword," Clary replied, also under her breath. "But I ain't got nothin' good t' say 'bout slavers, 'cept that they can die."

  • Dawn:
Ket cocked an eyebrow at the upright bird, his hands slowing but not stopping in their task. "I don't have any sunflowers," he muttered, turning his gaze back to the beast and climbing up into the saddle.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"Sunflowers?" Mithra cocked her head to the side, twittering in confusion. "Mithra was looking for pretty flowers." The kenku looked at the moss beast. "Pretty flower. Grassy."

  • AnxiousEnby:
The deer would snort and kick his hooves against the bars when he heard people, struggling violently and causing a scene.

  • Diana:
A rustling from the bushes preceded a young woman stumbling out next to Gasket and immediately she made a yelp and stepped back a few paces, not expected to end up face to face with a beast. She looked like she'd been running wild in the woods for days, with her clothes scuffed up and twigs in her hair and a big stick in her hand. "Where- Where is-" She couldn't catch her breath!

  • ArcadiaLumina:
Mithra looked at the woman with pleasant inquiry, before poking Ket, noting her sudden appearance. "Sticky."

  • Diana:
"Stop movin' around in there, you little shit," croaked the gangly man, rattling the covered cage. "I mean it! One more clop out of you and we're skinning you alive!"

  • Zarko Straadi:
When the girl burst into the clearing, Clary checked to make sure her guns were loose in their holsters in case she had some kind of mutant critter or horror from the Planes on her heels.

  • Dawn:
"..." Gasket hiked his eyebrow higher, casting a look over his shoulder at the bird girl. That's when he noticed the new arrival. "Why do the weird ones always gravitate to me?" he sighed to himself. The look he gave the scuffed up woman said something like 'you okay?' with little to no actual care.

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky whimpered, stilling his body once more and started to sniffle. The dear would cry silently in the cage, trembling inside of it.

  • The Mood is Write:
"Not arcane. Eldrich." With a quiet whisper, she sent crippling pain to the gangly one; pain that grew cripplingly worse for every moment the pain remained.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"Weird? I'm Mithra." The kenku seemed fascinated by the woman. "Sticky. Lots of stick. Very odd. Me, Mithra. You friend of Grassy?" She asked Gasket, her small frame almost entirely cocked to the side in confusion.

  • Diana:
"They-" gasp "They-" wheeze "They kidnapped him," she managed to gasp out. But before she could elaborate the girl passed right out.

  • Dawn:
With a sigh, Ket dismounted and crouched by the girl. Two fingers to her neck to check her pulse while he looked over her appearance to better understand what was going on. Kidnappings were pretty common. Gasket himself was trying to deal with one. He didn't much care about other people's woes, but since she was here, he might as well make sure she didn't die. "Anyone got spare water?" he asked out loud, not really expecting anyone to volunteer.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
Mithra, in the meantime, had found a small, blunt stick of oak. Her curiosity was truly something to behold, as was her complete disregard for any normal social convention. Despite Ket's medical attentions to the girl, Mithra proceeded to poke her with a stick. An effort of assistance, she thought. "Help with stick."

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary gave Rose a nod. She didn't exactly know the difference between 'arcane' and 'eldrich' when it came down to it, but the latter sounded more like it might include knowledge of the Barrowman and his kind. Maybe she should bring the subject up... But for now, she headed back to the Golden Fox long enough to fetch a jug of water, and headed over to hand it to Ket, all the while keeping an eye on the slavers so she could be ready to act when the time came. "Here ya go," she said.

  • AnxiousEnby:
The deer would become restless but mostly because he needed to pee. He squirmed around before getting the gag out "I-I need to pee" he whimpered up loud enough for only his capture to hear.

  • Diana:
"Don't give two shits if you need to pee," was the answer along with another thwack of the cage.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"Pee? Pee. Pee!" Mithra repeated jovially. The banging of the cage made for an entertaining jingle.

  • AnxiousEnby:
The deer would whimper "fine, I will make noises then!" he snorted, obviously naive. He started to kick the cage with his hind legs, the cloth falling off for a moment

  • Diana:
Things weren't looking good for the Greasy Gang, with their quarry making a ruckuss and suddenly all eyes curiously on them. "Best mind ya bi'ness or things about to get real rough 'round here!" shouted out the hairy woman of the bunch.

  • Diana:
It couldn't be certain if it was the water or the poke of the stick that made the difference, but once the girl came around, she came up swinging her stick like a maniac. "...the Faun boy! The whole village is dead! I've got to save him!"

  • Dawn:
Ket took the stick right to the side of the head, but when the improvised weapon fell away, the skin there was solid like stone. Slowly, the gray hue and smooth texture faded away into his normal tanned skin. "Faun boy?" He popped his head up and looked around. Wasn't that greasy haired group toting a big cage?

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"Faun pee. Save the faun pee?" Mithra questioned of the now, surprisingly concious girl. "Grassy and me save the faun pee."

  • Zarko Straadi:
"Well I'll be damned," Clary said. She'd never seen a creature...person...like that before, but then there were all kinds of people in this crazy world. "Hey now, no need t' get your knickers in a knot," she said, moving over so she could protect the kenku if that should prove necessary. "This one's just a child...I think." Not that she was any kind of expert on kenku, just that the one here looked smaller and seemed to act younger than the ones she'd seen before. But she did glance at the lock on the cage. How hard would it be to get past, once Rose's spells got the slavers' full attention?

  • ArcadiaLumina:
Mithra smiled gently at the new friend, Clary. "We save faun pee. My name not child, it's Mithra!"

  • AnxiousEnby:
He struggled in the cage before screaming "someone help me, I was kidnapped. They are going to kill me".

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"They're going to kill faun pee? That sounds messy." Mithra offered her stick in valiant triumph. "Me and Grassy are gonna save!"

  • Zarko Straadi:
Faun pee? Clary thought. Well, maybe it's some kinda magical ingredient, an' that's why these trogs got this little guy in th' first place... Then the "Faun" boy (Clary thought Fauns were bipedal, but then maybe she was wrong about that) spoke up. "Well now, that don't sound neighborly at all," she said to the big hair-armed woman. "Why don't you just let 'im go, an' everybody walks away," she said. Even the Caravan's dodgy rules didn't allow for kidnapping and murder.

  • Diana:
"Shutit," The gangly guy wasn't having any more of their captive's shenanigans, he shoved his dagger through the bars of the cage and started poking around. "TAKE ONE STEP O'ER HERE AND I'LL GUT YOU REACH QUICK, YOU MOUTHY TWAT GOBLIN!" Speaking of the Caravan guards... they were no where to be scene! But a few more of the Greasy gang seemed spread out amongst the camp. They took out the guides!

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky squealed, snorting softly as he began to sob "p-please...l-let me go...im not worth anything". The deer did go still though and started obeying the other

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"Twat. Twat Goblin!" Mithra recited with glee. "Have to protect the faun pee from the twat goblin!" Her clawed hands began to hum and buzz with wild magic.

  • Diana:
The young lady on the ground leapt up to her feet, now having caught her breath, ready to do the rescuing she set out to do. "Kidnappers! Fiends! And MURDERERS! Set him free!" She went a-runnin' at one of the greasy gang intending to abuse them properly, The hairy woman grabbed her and easily yeeted her off towards the trees.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"MOONBEA-" Mithra began to yell, with the volume of a trained bard. Her palms were alight with magic, so it wasn't long until she did something she would have no concept of regretting.

  • Dawn:
Of course it was never this easy. When had life ever been easy? Saving Chase had meant stabbing his brother in the throat and slaughtering the men he'd grown up with. Saving Chase again wouldn't be easy either. As he rose to his feet, his hand moved to the holster at his hip, drawing out a slim metal canister and holding it in his fist. His dark gaze flicked around the camp, noting the lack of guards. When the forest woman attacked, Ket moved, throwing the canister into the center of the camp. There was a brief second, and then BANNNNNG! Smoke billowed out and a high pitched whine filled everyone's ears.

  • Zarko Straadi:
Well, fuck, guess it's on, Clary thought, hearing the hum of Mithra's magic. When the gorilla woman turned back from throwing the girl, she was looking down the hex barrel of one of Clary's guns. Clary wasn't dumb enough to be within arm's reach, neither. "I asked nicely. Now I ain't askin.' Let 'im go."

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky could feel the dagger on his pelt "it hurts" he whined, blood dripping down slightly

  • Diana:
Gasket's sudden smoke bomb hindered (or helped?) Clary's offense, as the entire camp erupted into chaos! No one could really see anything besides a beam or light somewhere over head, possibly from the weird forest Mithra?

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"-BEAM!!!!!!!!" Mithra yelled, as a large swell of light shot down upon the camp from the stars, scorching the grass and anyone who was unlucky enough not to get out of the way.

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary flinched at the pyrotechnics that started going off, but she gambled that it was coming from the wizard-types who were nominally on her side. The hairy woman hadn't been expecting any arcane eldrich goings-on, so she dove for the deck. Clary took the opportunity to run past her, jumping over a fire-starting shaft of silvery light with a strangled yelp. But then she was by the cage. The rusty old lock didn't look like much, so she drew her second gun, twirled it in her hand, and bashed the lock a few times with the grip until the lock broke. Keeping her other gun at the ready, she heaved the cage door open. "C'mon out," she said to the deer-centaur.

  • AnxiousEnby:
He couldnt get out because his legs were tied together. The centaur whimpered as he tried to get out.

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky was badly bound to the cage.

  • Diana:
That scorching beam scorched a path right through the camp, causing many things to catch on fire, including the wagon that held the cage! Now many people of the caravan were scattering, while the Greasy Gang decided it was high time to get violent. "YA STANKY ASS NUGGLET, I'M GOING TO SEND YOU PACKING BACK TO YOUR MAMA!" Shouted the hairy woman, who prompty swung an electrified axe down at Clary.

  • Zarko Straadi:
What's takin' him so--Clary thought, holstering the second gun so she could try to wave some of the smoke out of the way. Then she saw the bonds. "A'ight," she said, but before she could reach for her boot knife, Hairy Lady was shouting and coming at her with a volt-axe! Clary sidestepped her charge, training her gun on the woman. BLAM! BLAM! "Shouldn't have taken an axe to a gunfight, and shoulda kept your damn mouth shut."

  • Dawn:
Gasket made his way quickly through the crowd, targeting the greasy gang when they got in the way, cutting throats with his switchblades. When he arrived at the cage, he dodged the fight between axe sasquatch and someone else. He surveyed the door and the lock, looking up at the faun-man. "Do you know where the keys are?"

  • Zarko Straadi:
"Already took care of that manky lock," Clary said, heading back to the cage. She drew her boot-knife, spun it in her hand, and offered the hilt to Gasket. "Cut his bonds if ya don't mind, I'll cover us," she said, putting her back to the cage so she cold be ready for anything that might come at them out of the smoke.

  • Diana:
THUNK. That hairy woman took a bullet to the shoulder and LAUGHED about it. "TAKES MORE THAN A GUN, YOU CROTCH CRICKET HAVIN' WENCH!" Laughter filled the air, but the hairy woman was somewhere out in the mess of smoke. Her gangly partner was the one to appear by the cage. "Hey now! That's OURS!" HE had a gun or two of his own and started shooting!

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"MITHRA GONNA SAVE FAUN PEE FROM CROTCH CRICKETS!" The small kenku yelled, attempting to turn underlings into daisies and gangsters into gorgonzola with emissions of wild magic.

  • AnxiousEnby:
He would shake his head "N-No, he wouldn't tell me anything" . Lucky kicked to try and get out of his bounds but it proved to be unsuccessful.

  • Dawn:
Gasket cocked an eyebrow at Clary and held up his two switchblades. But he did proceed to climb into the cage - the on fire cage - and grunted as he just barely dodged the kick. "Settle down, would you?" He leaned over the faun-taur, grabbing up the rope binding his arms, and began to patiently cut away at the material despite the searing heat of the flames above.

  • Zarko Straadi:
"Zaogao!" Clary hissed under her breath, crouching for partial cover behind one of the wagon wheels and returning fire. And where, in all this smoke and mage-haze was that taint-stain with the volt-axe? She sheathed her un-needed knife and drew her sword so she'd have something to parry with if the woman got within blade reach of her.

  • AnxiousEnby:
He would calm down slightly but he was terrified of all these people. The fawn centaur would probably run away once he was free

  • Diana:
Bzzzzt-CRASH. There was Clary's answer as a jolt of lighting whipped past her and the heavy metal of the axe lodged into the wood next to her head. "GOT YOU NOW, YOU BACKWATER ANUS ZIT." The gangly one was still shooting from elsewhere - until wild magic kicked in and backfired. His normal bullet shooting gun start spewing fire. In fact, a lot of weird magical anomolies starting twisting up the camp. Pack animals were growing in size and stampeding. Plants were coming to life and trying to eat up travelers. Uncontrolled magic is always a bad idea in the Zone.

  • Dawn:
"There's a woman looking for you," Gasket explained as he crouched to work on the ropes tying up the fawn's ankles. "We should find her and leave this place." He'd wanted to travel with a group to make it easier to cross the Zone, but clearly this had been a mistake. The side of his face where the fire was nearest sprouted a smooth stone surface to keep the skin from reddening, and there was sweat pouring down his brow while he fought with the ropes. With a snap, the last rope fell away and Gasket pocketed his blades in order to scoop up the fawn and hurry from the burning cage.

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary ducked as the axe came at her. "AY! That was my favorite strand of hair!" she said, watching one of her blonde locks drift away, severed by the axe. But now all kinds of crazy shit started happening all around her. She set down her gun long enough to grab the volt-axe, wrench it free, and throw it out into the woods as hard as she could. Good luck finding that again, she thought, but she wasn't going to underestimate gorilla-woman again. "I got a fast hoverskiff, follow me," she said to Gasket once he had the Faun in his arms.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
As Mithra shot off beams of wild magic, various strange things apparated or were removed from existence, including a hoard of geese with orc heads, a live cheese elemental, and a strange pile of 'used' books that landed with a thump on and around the remains of the wagon.

  • Diana:
The young lady lost in the smoke learned real quick that you should open your mouth wide to scream when all kinds of weird things were flying out. She was coughing hard and stumbling in this direction and that, hoping that none of the fallen bodies she tripped over was the young Faun!

  • Diana:
The Greasy Gang were having trouble with the chaos themselves, what with cheese a'flyin and angry geese honkin'. There seemed to be an opening for escape.

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky would start to struggle as he was carried by the stranger "L-Let me go!!! You're going to sell me for my fur" he sobbed, trembling in the arms that held him. He didn't understand that these people were going to save him

  • Dawn:
"I'm not interested in money or fur," Gasket assured, though his tone was rather flat, almost bored with the conversation. "I'm taking you to your friend." He glanced sideways at Clary, who had fallen into step with him, offering a ride. He gave a whistle that carried over the din of the chaos, and from out of the smoke trotted the moss beast, grunting all the way. "Lead the way," he told Clary, keeping his gaze sharp for that woman.

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky did calm down slightly when Gasket said he wasn't interested in Money or Fur. The creatures tail would wag and his eyes sparkled "T-Thank you for rescuing me" he said softly, excited to get back into his feild.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
Mithra looked at Lucky with intrigue. "Faun pee. Me Mithra. Me and Grassy help rescue!"

  • Zarko Straadi:
"No we ain't," Clary said. At least, she hoped nobody had that in mind, but then, she didn't know any of these people. A chorus of discordant laughter echoed from somewhere out in the woods, chilling Clary to the bone. She glanced over at the shadows, and saw several sets of glowing eyes that seemed to drift and bob in the air well above human height. Every now and then, he would show up, just to remind her that he hadn't lost interest. Clary had no intention of sticking around long enough to find out if he was coming for her this time. "Move your feet," she said, hurrying to the Golden Fox. "Get in," she said to Gasket, then looked to Lucky, "and don't piss in my hoverskiff! You too," she said to Mithra. "We're gettin' out of here." But where was Rose?

  • AnxiousEnby:
"My name is Lucky" he said gently to the small one, shaking his head. He did still need to pee though -

  • AnxiousEnby:
What if he couldn't hold it in anymore -

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky couldn't hold it in anymore and with an embarrassed squeal, he pissed himself.

  • Diana:
A terrible shriek let out into the night and it sounded painfully familiar like the young lady that had been searching for the kidnapped faun. In fact, the boy would recognize the voice as the young mage girl that was his childhood friend. Once the shriek faded there was nothing but the sound of burning fire. Not even the sounds of confused and fleeing travelers could be heard anymore.

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky looked over and noticed his childhood friend. He jumped out and ran over to her, hugging her gently "I missed you"

  • ArcadiaLumina:
Mithra jumped aboard The Golden Fox, birbling like an excited child (of which she was). "ADVENTURE!" She yelled, her avian eyes gleeful as they watched the fires spread into the night.

  • Diana:
The body Lucky hugged couldn't answer back.

  • Dawn:
"Try not to hit any bumps," Gasket snorted. Apparently he could make jokes. But the moment Lucky got That Look on his face, he set the fawn down. And just in time. He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, a hand on his hip while he waited for the fawn to finish his business. And then screams and dead ladies and Ket was tired of this entire ordeal. "Let's go. If you want to live, we need to leave."

  • AnxiousEnby:
He whined when the body didnt answer back, noticing all the blood that splattered on his coat. Lucky felt tears drip down his cheeks as he nuzzled her body. The fawn centaur looked up at Gasket "But how could we leave her! She is the only human I EVER trusted" he said, a small snort leaving his lips. He kissed her forehead before slowly trotting away, ears and tail drooping.

  • ArcadiaLumina:
"Sometimes friendy come and go. Sometimes glass is for snorting, sometimes is not. Mithra can be new friend! Mithra nodded sagely, proud of her broken common tongue.

  • Zarko Straadi:
"That's what the 'hover' part is for," Clary said. Shit, Clary thought. She hadn't even thought of the moss beast. She hurried to the cargo bay door and opened it. "Get 'im inside, an' let's all hope he doesn't spook." That's when the girl's head started to twitch and writhe, the neck turning and squirming in directions it shouldn't have been able to, stretching as it did so. Then...it tore with a sickening wet rip, spraying blood, and the severed head floated off into the shadows. A soft jingling of chain, and a new pair of glowing eyes joined the others. "We're leavin,'" Clary snarled, slamming the cargo bay door after the beast, then jumped into the cockpit and started flipping switches to power up the vehicle. "ROSE!" she called out, using the external speaker. The wizard had better hurry if she wanted a ride outta here....

  • The Mood is Write:
Rose hopped on, cursing. "This is not my doing," she defended.

  • Diana:
To join the terrible abomination that happened with the girl's body and the glowing eyes in the forest, the soft bzzzt and blue spark of lighting could be see out in the wood.

  • Dawn:
For a moment, Gasket saw Chase's face, saw the dead look in his eyes, and wondered if the fawn would look at him the same way now too. "She's no good to you like that. Keep her memory instead." He held out his hand for the fawn, brow furrowed. "We need to go. Keep her alive by staying alive."

  • The Mood is Write:
Rose quickly shifted from shadows to light, and she quickly put protective glowing auras around every friendly she could see as she shouted "Shielding!"

  • The Mood is Write:
Each shielding aura prevented a certain amount of damage before fading, and gave extra running speed.

  • AnxiousEnby:
He would nod and sniffle, following after Gasket. The fawn creature didn't look happy anymore, the blood staining his pale pelt as he quickly followed Gasket "I could probably give you a ride considering I have the energy" he offered

  • The Mood is Write:
The Fawn and Gasket were able to run twice as fast. It was up to them if they would be able to avoid slamming into the whatever there is.

  • Dawn:
Gasket adjusted for the speed boost easily - he was no stranger to performance enhancing drugs. He led Lucky back to the skiff and hopped in with the others. In the cargo area, the moss beast stood patiently, like this was every day shit to it, slowly chewing on some grass it had snatched up on the way in. "Ready to go. Let's get out of here."

  • Zarko Straadi:
Clary flipped a switch to close the cabin door. "Hang on tight," she said, raising the Golden Fox on its vortex risers, then shoved the throttles forward and pulled the yoke back. The engines rose to a high pitched whine, and she was pressed into her seat as the Golden Fox accelerated, then tilted up to scream into the sky, smashing through a mesh of scraggly branches as it rose.

  • The Mood is Write:
"So, quick question: what the hells did I miss? I remember casting Shadow Word: Pain, and then hearing Clary shout to me."

  • Zarko Straadi:
Once she was above the canopy, Clary leveled out, but she kept the throttles at full. Flying used more charge than the Golden Fox's usual ground-effects mode, so she would have to descend back down to the caravan route before too long, but not until she got as far away from here as she could.

  • AnxiousEnby:
Lucky would look at the skiff and shook his head, rather frightened of what was happening but he had no choice after all. The deer was as confused as his writer in this situation.

  • Zarko Straadi:
"Well, lots o' what happened back there prob'ly counts as 'eldrich,' and you'd be the expert on that. We rescued this guy from some slavers." She held back from mentioning the Barrowman. Who knew how his interest and attention worked? Just saying his name might be a Bad Thing for all Clary knew, and she didn't want to risk putting any of her new passengers on his headhunting list.

  • The Mood is Write:
"Did I at least put some pain on that slaver before bullshit started?"

  • Zarko Straadi:
"Name's Clary," she said, introducing herself to the others. "Dunno for sure if it was you, but they got some pain alright. Reckon none of 'em's gonna see the sun again."

  • Diana:
As with many things in the Zone, it was unclear what happened to most of the travelers in that caravan once the magical anomalies began. All anyone was certain of now: There was a lost faun without a home, a dead caravan, and somewhere in the zone a crazed hairy axe sasquatch with a vendetta and a lust for vengeance.

  • The Mood is Write:
"I'm Roselailaina, and I'm a priest of discipline. Still trying to get control over the effects the Elder Gods have on me, but I hope the only part of that I caused was making the scrawny slaver die from pain.

    THE END. ...OR IS IT?
