How to make your character!

A magical girl come in all shapes and sizes. Each magical girl comes from her own "world" and has memories of said world. Whether or not their respective worlds are real is still up in the air. Why is this detail important? This essentially allows for thematic diversity in the cast of magical girls. One might hail from a post-apocalyptic world, one from a space faring science fiction world, and another from WW2 Japan; furthermore, this also allows for alterations to manifest in how their magical girl form manifests. Are they reliant on conventional weapons? Do the preform magical banishing rituals? Do they fire beams of painless light to stun opponents? The sky is the limit really. I have made a few magical girl "archetypes" that you can pick from, or you can make your own:

Saturday Morning Magical Girl: This magical girl represents purity and perseverance. All of her abilities are fantastical and elaborate - they all operate on limitless magical potential and do not maim opponents in any way. Rather, they operate on non-lethal means, or they utilize some method of painless banishing.

Hero Girl: She is not afraid to get her hands dirty and makes use of fantastical weapons to get the job done. This magical girl typically avoids killing, but will strike down evil-doers if it means saving many. She makes use of fantastical weapons alongside magical abilities.

Tragedy Girl: Being magical has carried some insurmountable burden on this girl's psyche. She is in no way glittery and cheery. This magical girl adheres to no type of justice other than her own. This girl operates with very little in the way of magic, typically only having one to two limited abilities, but she makes up for it in skilled usage of conventional-modern day weaponry.

Sadist-Girl: Whoever was handing out powers should have not given them to this girl. She is like your typical sparkly magical girl, but she operates with cruelty and insanity. Her cheery demeanor is accompanied by insurmountable bloodshed for whatever twisted morality she adheres to. Gaudy-glamour adorns all of her abilities, yet all of these powers have VERY bloody outcomes.

I have based these four-archetypes off different depictions of magical girls. Essentially, when making your magical girl imagine that she came from her own "show" and all the other magical girls have also came from their own "shows."

I made the character sheet very simple to produce. Please put some effort into it and add onto the character sheet as you see fit. If I put a "like" on your post, then it is approved. On the other hand, if it is denied then I will explain how you can fix it.

Name: Hikari Himiko

Gender: Female

Appearance: Himiko is a petite and fair-skinned young girl who bears strong resemblance to those of East Asian descent. She has long black hair and ruby red eyes. She has the appearance of a 12 to 13 years old girl. Her distinctive clothes are a combination of modern era white sweater mixed with the elaborate sleeves and ornaments of Shinto clergies. Of course, she also has other manner of more casual and formal clothes, including but not limited to her boarding school uniform. Her height is 140cm (4'7").

Interests: Futuristic technology, social media, mechs, and non-conformist artistic expressions among others.

Skills and Talents: Himiko has a knack for understanding how modern technology works, a techie so to speak, due to her avid interest in them. She's also well-educated in the Shinto-related traditions and customs. However, while she appreciates the fashion and art, she's not too keen in adhering to said strict customs.

Backstory: One of the students at the high-tech boarding school who became a magical girl's host. She was the youngest daughter of a traditionalist and wealthy Japanese family, the prestigious Hikari clan who has existed for many centuries. They were a strict adherer to the Shinto belief as the family claimed descendant from the mythical figure of Queen Himiko of ancient Japan, the very figure she was named after. Himiko was a quiet and naive girl, having a rather sheltered upbringing in her family's household. Aside from school activities, she was also undergoing training as a shrine maiden, although it was quite clear that the girl didn't really fit in with all the strict adherence to ancient traditions. She was more curious and interested in the wonders of modern technology so when Amaterasu herself made Himiko her host, it was almost like the heavens themselves were messing with her.

Name: Amaterasu

Titles and Nicknames: Goddess of the Sun, Sun Goddess, Amaterasu-Oumikami, "Ama"

Gender: Female

Appearance: Amaterasu exactly emulates her host's - Himiko - physical features, height, and build, with the sole exception of her eyes. When Amaterasu takes control, her irises become a brilliant gold instead of ruby red. As far as apparel goes, Amaterasu manifests elegant flowing robes of the Sun Goddess often depicted in historical texts and paintings. Her three divine artifacts: Mirror of Yata, Sword of Kunasagi, and Yasakani Gem can be found floating beside and above her. They are summonable and desummonable at will.

Magical Girl Archetype: The Deity - Whether it's actually true or not, Amaterasu wholeheartedly believes that she's the current incarnation of the Shinto Goddess of the Sun. As the divine leader of the Shinto pantheon, much like Zeus or Odin of the Greek and Norse pantheons respectively, Amaterasu is incredibly prideful and often quite patronizing to beings who she doesn't see as an equal, which often times means everyone who's not a deity. However, she does show kindness and compassion to others, after all, mortals are wayward beings who need a firm guiding hand to lead them through their short lives. For those she deems as enemies, she has no reservations in scorching them to ashes with the power of the sun itself. Additionally, Amaterasu has such a strong exertion of willpower that her host struggles to keep her in check more often than not.

Interests: Ama displays curious interests in the so-called modern technology that exists in this world. She's always curious to learn more about such mortal inventions from Himiko. It is one of the few activities she can enjoy passively while not being in control of Himiko's body.

Abilities: Taiyou no Chikara - Power of the Sun. Amaterasu embodies the golden-yellow star that keeps Earth in orbit and prevents it from freezing into a sphere of space ice. She's able to give life as well as destroy it. This concept translates to her ability to manifest various aspects of the sun. She can unleash the sun's light to blind and scorch, solar flares to short-circuit electronics, launch spheres of miniature sun that acts as magical explosives. On the flipside, she can purify and heal others through the same light. Ama's power is greatly amplified when she's under direct sunlight, weakened during the night, and horribly diminished in a solar eclipse.

Equipment: The Three Divine Regalia

OLHmfiC.jpg
Description: Representing the virtues of honesty and wisdom, the Yata Mirror is her most beloved artifact as mirrors are venerated in her sect. Mirrors represent truth and clarity as they can only reflect reality without bias and filters. In practice, Ama's Mirror of Yata floats above her head when summoned. Its main use is augmenting her sunlight-based powers. It also has the ability to reflect subjects, objects, or scenery as they are, piercing through illusions and other forms of concealment.

GQsXPxf.jpg
Description: Representing the virtues of honor and valor, the sword is said to be gifted to Amaterasu by her brother, Susano-o the God of Storms, after he found it inside the eight-headed serpent, Orochi. In practice, the sword floats by her right side when summoned. Its main use is to engage melee attackers that seek to harm the Sun Goddess. Its edge brim with the scorching plasma of the sun, simultaneously slicing and melting armor, flesh, and bone.

RhvMNCJ.jpg
Description: Representing the virtues of kindness and compassion. The gem is composed of a set, a pink ruby center surrounded by three jade pieces that spin constantly around it. In practice, the gem floats by her left side when summoned. Its main use is to augment Ama's healing and supportive powers. The only artifact among the three which has no direct offensive use.

Backstory: Amaterasu-Oumikami, the legendary Goddess of the Sun in Shinto mythos... or at least that was what she claimed. In truth, it wasn't clear whether this Amaterasu was truly The Sun Goddess as depicted in Shintoism or merely a magical entity who bear resemblance to said divine figure. Whatever the case, Amaterasu believed that this Artisan figure summoned her to this world for a fated purpose and she would do all in her power to realize that purpose, whatever it was. Speaking of power, Amaterasu deemed that her current incarnation was merely a fragment of her true divinity. After all, as the Goddess of the Sun, she should hold power without equal compared to all beings on Earth and yet, it was not the case. The fact that she had to live inside a mortal host quite offended her. One day, she would reclaim her true glory and be free from the trappings of a mortal's whims.

Gouki_profile_picture.png

Name:Hiroshi Tanaka

Gender:Male

Appearance: Lean, Muscular with a mean face that promise trouble for anyone that cross his sight, Hiroshi is the very definition of a high school Yankee. His size is neither impressive, neither laughable, however with a good 5"9 he is still a bit taller than some classmates. Wearing second hand clothes due to his upbringing. He brings the school blazer only during "Official meetings" (understand when a rival group meets his gang), instead of a pompadour he prefers to wear a headband with the name of his gang. "Shishime" (Abbreviation of "Shishi Mecha")

Likes:His fellow gang members, his mother, mob movies (his favorite one is the godfather), brand clothes, sports cars....

Dislikes:Hypocrisy, being reminded that he is poor, being reminded he is fatherless, Natou, School in general. Authority.

Interests and skills: Hiro is a fan of sports cars and could spend hours speaking of the difference between two engines just by listening to their humming. He is also very athletic, street smart and knows how to fight (not professionally he is a high school student who made his style on street fight.)

Psychology:It might seem a bit unexpected coming from someone who is a thug. But Hiro cannot stand injustice. In fact what led him to this path was his inability to stay put when something unfair happened. Add to it his impulsivity and stuborness and fatally he find shimself in detention more than once. And where else could he meet other school delinquents?

Hiro is also extremely prideful, for the sake of pride he more than often finds himself head over heels in troubles. Furthermore, he dreams of being someone rich and powerful. That is why the school that will see him graduating must belong to the most fearsome gang in the whole district.

Background:Hiroshi grew up in a single parent household. If you could call the room his mother and him shared a household. To afford a child she had to work double or triple. His early childhood was passed between neighbors during the day and with his wilting mother at night.

As he grew up, his needs became more expensive, but they had to compromise less they would find themselves starved. His mother would find second hand or damaged clothes and try and fix them. He wasn't told fairy tales to sleep, but his she would tell him in great details about how later he would be a successful man, how rich he would be. How he could buy everything.

In school, well school is always bitter sweet. Kids are kids and everything can be forgiven. He sometimes was frustrated by not having a certain toy or not having a father, to the point of tears even, but he also got playmates and later schoolmates. He could go to a friend house to play or watch movies. He was energetic and had a real disposition for sports but his grades were average in other disciplins.

As he grew up they started getting worse and the outburst of energy that he had in excess were sanctioned by detention or going to the hall. That is in detention that he met other guys like him. People that were... not too good with school, but cool to speak with and cool to hang out with. However he was among the youngest, so he had to impress them. That is why he started smoking at twelve.

They also dreamed of riches, wished to become someone. And they knew how to do so. Be part of a gang. Protect the school from other gangs. Make easy money. Help your comrade. Be a man. It's tough at the beginning but year after year you will raise in the chain of commands.

Except it wasn't that easy. Sure puberty gave him a boost, but the fights became more serious, to the point of bringing bats, screwdrivers knife. To the point of risking a limb or worse. And he had to hide it from his mother, play dumb when asked by the teacher why he wasn't in class this day.

Only his friends could understand him. They lived the same life through thick and thin. Yeah, his position could give him any woman but they had nothing in common no connection. He had more connections with the "Onika" bitch. Too bad she was part of a rival gang.

And yes of course he had some experience with drugs and booze. They happen to chill most of the time. But that's because their protection is effective there is no other gang that's going to waltz on the Shishime turf.

mahou-shoujo-lyrical-nanoha-fate-testarossa-wallpaper-thumb.jpg

Name:Mercy

Appearance:Mercy is a 5"4 girl with long blond hair going down to her knees. She ties them with a black ribbon. However this might even be her only act of vanity. Granted with her wide hips and ample cleavage complimented by an elfin face with no blemish, she could appear as quite a beauty. However her expression and her eyes carry a weariness that no one should wear. A kind of fatigue that can be found on battle hardened soldiers, a question that will never escape her delicate lips. But burning with such intensity that it can be heard by whoever meet her tired eyes. Whatever for?

Magical girl archetype (If not selected from above, then please describe): Magical girl Martyr: Mercy knows what war means and what losing it means. Between killer robots, monsters, carnivorous plants, aliens and demons, humanity is nothing less than a side note, and she has been burdened with the duty of... easing it pain by either enduring it in its place or sentencing another being to suffer it.

Likes: Positive people, cake and sweets, relaxing and hot bath

Dislikes: Self-centered persons, the rythm technology evolves, Quitters, Pain

__fate_testarossa_and_bardiche_lyrical_nanoha_and_1_more_drawn_by_nekomamire__sample-ccd694615...jpg

Mercy unique versatile weapon though it's less of a weapon and more of the representation of her duty. Pain Bearer or PB&J (For Pain Bearer & Joymaker) cannot cut anything, in fact without pain the handle is a simple pendant.

Pain bearer steals the pain, wounds and illness of a target. Said afflictions appear as a lightsword. The more pain, the longer and larger the sword. But the sword weighs nothing, all it can do is transfering the pain. There is however one condition. The wielder of the sword must endure the amount of pain they carry. If the pain is too much to handle, (to the point of making Mercy fall unconscious or worse) the sword will explode and a random amount of damage will be dispatched in the radius of the blast.

To resume, if you are hit by the sword, it can either grow in size and you will be healed, or get smaller and the amount of damage will vary depending of how much the sword shrink.

The PB&J can also fire rays of affliction based on the same principle. But to steal pain the sword must be in contact with its target.

The target do not matter it can be a living being or an inanimate object.

Magic:
-Empathy: As the name implies Mercy can feel what the other feels in a 30 feet radius. This makes her extra sensitive and overwhelmed in a crowd. It cannot be turned off.

-Compassionate soul: What is compassion if not the ability to suffer with someone. A way to understand them. Compassionate soul take it a step further, Mercy can turn into anything that was ever touched by PB&J . The transformation itself uses magic. Her only way to return to her original self is via another transformation. Furthermore compassionate soul give her access to her target ability and personnality. That is why the longer she is using compassionate soul, the more risk she has of being lost in her new persona. Plus depending on the skill or memory she was looking for the time needed to access it can vary from minutes to day.

There is a condition however to use compassionate soul the sum of her magic and physical strength must equal or exceed the strength of her target.

-Sin cleansing: The more pain Mercy endures, the more her magic increase.

Skills:-Survivalist.

Psychology: Mercy is a survivor. She is calm and rarely acts on impulse. It's even more the case because of the fact she has to deal with everyone's emotional luggage. For her, the world is a man eat man place. And showing a hint of weakness could make the difference between life and death.
She is also pessimistic. Whatever she does, she is certain that it will backfire spectacularly or change nothing. It's not that she feels powerless. Her ability allows her to choose who lives and who dies. Yet it is never as clear cut as people could imagine. If she saves someone, there is a price to pay, if she refuses to save someone there is a price to pay. If she kills someone there is also a price to pay. And more often than not the price for her action or inaction is a lot more than she is willing to pay.

Backstory: Mercy was born in a small village in the frontier between a man eating forest and a robot assembly line. Her childhood was sparsed between moving from village to village scavenging and seeeing the people she cared for disappearil one by one with close to no proper burial. The beasts took a whole twenty persons with traps to be slain. Robots were undestructible, and recently the soul of the dead wanted revenge.

It was during their monthly migration cycle that she found herself separated from her tribe. And as she was told multiple times. "Loneliness is death." But as if they were animated, (which really was the case) the trees of the red forest were now on the path she had taken earlier effectively It wasn't long before she could hear the faint sound of something following her. Her stomach dropped like a stone. "If you can hear it, it sees you. If you still hear it, it wants you."
So she did what she was told to increase her chances. She looked for a hole, any hole to crawl into. She found it in a rock.

Then she sprinted. Instantly the ground was shaking, she was dying of curiosity. But each second lost in looking at the source of this noise was a second wasted in trying to remain alive.

She dove inside the hole at the same time that two firey line were traced on her back. Well it wasn't true. The line of fire went straight through her. And pain. Unbearable pain.

She couldn't breathe. Each ragged inspiration was accompanied by a wet bloody cough. She couldn't feel her legs nor her hands. Her vision was blurry. Tears of pain, of fear were covering it and the light was getting dimmer.

"I don't want to die. I don't want to die... I don't want to die."

Inside her head a voice, her voice telling her that it was normal to die. That she was just human. That human were not fit to live here anymore.

"I don't want to die. I don't want to die"

She was then asked what made her so special. Why she should be spared. Everything and everyone died. Yet she stubbornly repeated the same mantra slower and slower.

She was then offered a deal, she would live but her burden would be to carry everyone pain and suffering without a chance of knowing the eternal rest.

She agreed and was wracked by an uncomparable pain. All her body was on fire and if she would have air in her lungs she would have screamed like a banshee. The same voice her voice told her that if she wanted a temporary release she had to carry this pain and inflict it on something else.

"Anything. Just make it stop." Told her mute lips. And moving her arms she felt the weight of this pain and she gave it to the ground. The floor started rumbling the cave was collapsing but she was free of the pain.

Upon leaving the cave she found herself assaulted by multiple sensation. Hunger, fear, hatred, multiple painful sensations. It made no sense. It would take some times before she understood that she was feeling what the red forest inhabitant were feelng. And even more time before she would learn that the earthquake she was the cause of wiped what was left of her clan.

She thought she could conquer the land, reclaim humanity lost throne. But the planet was vast and making a clan stronger just made alliance appear. Heck the human even fought among themselves.

All her attempts failed miserably. So she went into hiding. Helping indiscriminately whoever needed to be cured. But once cured they provoked quite the amount of destruction. And if she let them to die, well she had to endure their death with them.

It would have been comical if it wasn't so painful.

Fortunately, the Artisan gave her a purpose. Stop the humanity to reach once again its extinction point.

Host

Name: Leilani Aren

Gender: Female

Appearance:
View attachment 198526

Personality: A good-natured person with a side-dash of naivety, Leilani always thinks the best of people. While not exactly a social butterfly, she has little trouble making friends or maintaining relationships. She never seems to frown or get angry and she always has a good word or two to say about other people. On the flipside, she does tend to be too trusting, which got her into trouble several times. She also keeps her negative emotions bottled up instead of expressing them. This results in incredibly cathartic - but not necessarily healthy - stress explosions, which she prefers to have as far away from people as humanly possible.

Likes: Flowers, plants, botany, fresh air, people, meadows.

Dislikes:
Pollution, cities, "lifeless art", sour food, bullies.

Interests and skills:

Botany and gardening: Leilani is a natural when it comes to taking care of plants, especially those she is familiar with. She is a quick learner, not to mention she has a natural intuition when it comes to them. Because of this, and her sociable nature, she is the most well-known member of the school's gardening club.

Photography: She picked it up recently as a hobby, owing to her interest in immortalising plants that bloom once-in-a-lifetime. She is not very good at it yet.

Human Connections: Not only does Leilani like people, but she is quite interested in their affairs along with how they connect with each other. Not in the scientific, social studies way, but rather in the personal experience way. She likes to learn more about her friends along with their experiences, and wishes to understand them as much as humanly possible.

Magical Girl

Name: Kalea Nivel

Appearance:
View attachment 198527

Magical Girl Archetype: The Grieving Girl. Once optimistic champions, these Magical Girls still fight to protect all that is dear to them, but they have lost their spark because of a terrible tragedy. Whether it is the loss of a loved one, or something far more sinister, they are emotionally vulnerable; perhaps even fragile. They try to hold close whatever warmth or happiness they find in order to conquer their dreams. Some succeed, becoming as phoenixes rising from the ashes. Others fail, turning into shells of their former self.

Personality: Stricken with grief, Kalea finds little joy in anything at the moment. She feels as though her life is a bleak memorial and she spends a lot of time reminiscing about her sister or trying to express her sorrow in some way. All feels lacking at the moment, however; something she is keenly aware of. In her home reality, she sought therapy, but with only so many appointments, she did not make much headway yet. Before, she used to be focused, studious, and perhaps a touch lonely; something which her sister along with her tight-knit group of friends remedied. Now, however, she finds herself in an alien world, with nothing to support her save for someone who reminds her of Leilani all too much...

Likes: Her sister, science, meritocracy, fresh air, solitude.

Dislikes:
School, authority figures who "did not earn it", bullies, noise, rain.

Magic: Kalea is capable of controlling and creating gravity. With many years of experience under her belt, she is capable of incredibly fine manipulation: her mastery is so delicate that she is capable of puppeting people without ripping them apart or creating a black hole that only affects a specific material or a specific area. She also has a good understanding of her power's relativistic effects and is capable of using them to manipulate the perception of time. Though her spells have an intense visual component, with sigils and symbols lighting up around her in purple, this gives her opponent no advantage as by the time they notice what she is doing, it is usually too late.

She is also capable of using nightblaze spells, which rely on the availability of aberrant photon particles and waveforms created by the Photonic Plague. Her experience with these spells is more limited as she prefers to use them in a supporting role. This is mainly because of the Photonic Plague's immense dangers; were she to find another source for them, she would not hesitate to scale up her usage.

Equipment:
Vials of Photonic Plague: A weapon of mass destruction that very few possess, the Photonic Plague has the potential to annihilate entire solar systems, if it is used in sufficient quantities. A strange phenomenon that fundamentally alters light particles - decreasing their speed by roughly one third and vastly increasing their mass - it spreads from photon to photon as its name implies. Kalea possesses five vials, each one holding ten micrograms of the substance, with the rest of the thumb-sized device being downright paranoid security measures. Even in Kalea's reality, it would take months, if not years to crack a single vial.

This is entirely justified given the Photonic Plague's horrifying potential. The weapon has multiple stages of operation, each progressively more deadly than the last. During its first stage, it alters how light is perceived: any form of detecting photons starts to register the equivalent of disturbing hallucinations. Monsters, paradoxes and indescribable colours seem to manifest in any area that the Photonic Plague claims for itself, and while not directly dangerous, these illusions can lead most people astray. At this stage, the Photonic Plague spreads at a snail's pace.

During the weapon's second stage, the Photonic Plague spreads at roughly running speed. It is also the stage where nightblaze particles are created, appearing and behaving as black rays of light, with one key difference: they leech energy instead of transferring it, thus decreasing temperature in the area. At the same time, nightblaze particles decay rapidly into high-energy photons, which means that anything hit by them is going to experience an extreme and rapid thermal compression-expansion cycle, thus shattering into countless shards. This is also as far as Kalea will allow the Photonic Plague to progress.

In the Photonic Plague's third stage, nightblaze particles become the dominant form of light within affected areas and the laws of physics start to break down as well. Mundane beings or objects cease to function if they are not immediately destroyed by nightblaze particles, while magical phenomena start manifesting in unusual or illogical ways. A Magical Girl can still function within an affected area at this stage, but only for a couple of minutes at most. At this stage, the Photonic Plague progresses at the top speed of a sports car, which means it is extremely likely to reach its fourth and final stage.

During its last stage, the Photonic Plague starts to spread faster than the speed of light, enveloping an entire solar system in just a matter of seconds, before collapsing into a black hole due to the extreme amounts of mass it creates. Naturally, this halts its spread and confines it - but by then, it is already too late for the unfortunates who fell prey to the weapon.

At any point before its fourth stage, the Photonic Plague may be stopped by using mirrors, gravitational forces or any other method capable of concentrating light in a small area. This triggers the fourth stage prematurely, detonating the weapon into an insignificant black hole which expires in the matter of nanoseconds.

Gentle Embrace: This used to be Leilani's weapon of choice. A beautifully crafted, crystalline staff filled with motifs of vines and flowers, capped by a sapphire stone that looks as though it were a blossom, its appearance hides a sophisticated battle computer along with a potent magical focus. With its highly adaptable algorithms, it is capable of reading the status of any being with remarkable accuracy, not to mention suggesting courses of action to its wielder. What is more, it gathers natural magical energies along with any spell residue continuously, thus greatly enhancing a Magical Girl's staying power.

It also helps regulate the flow of magic when it comes to barrier, healing and boost spells. However, there are two factors preventing it from being useful at the current time. One, it has been tailor-built to Leilani from the ground up, meaning that any other Magical Girl would only be able to use it well below optimal performance. Two, Kalea will do everything in her power to hold onto this keepsake of her dead sister. It is, after all, the only thing she has to remember her by in this strange world.

Grief's Embrace: Kaela's weapon of choice. Once called Eternal Champions, these pair of armoured gauntlets are more than they seem at first. Fine, almost invisible threads emerge from them, running across Kaela's body to fortify her against the very forces she uses in combat. By continuously draining a little bit of magic from her, they are capable of automatically counteracting any gravitational forces that would affect her, thus saving her a great deal of concentration. However, this is not all that the weapon offers.

Grief's Embrace has an additional component. Namely, a black hole contained within a human-sized wrecking ball that is attached to a highly resilient chain. The wrecking ball itself has all the equipment necessary to nullify the black hole's gravitational influence, which means that it is nothing more than an incredibly heavy weapon that only Kalea can wield with her powers... theoretically. Practically, Kalea has figured out a couple of tricks when it comes to the containment field, meaning she can let out as much of the black hole's influence as she likes, for as long as she likes.

The weapon also has a unique terror aspect: because of its mass, if Kalea accelerates it beyond the speed of sound, it creates a reverberating, bone-shattering, deep bass of a sonic boom that is disturbing to hear on a fundamental level.

Backstory: Kalea Nivel and Leilani Nivel. The Miracle Twins. Shining stars of the Sterling Starsworn, their fame extended not just across their home planet of Narid, but the whole solar system. Though they were born as identical twins, a rare magical condition known as Divergent Chimerism slowly changed their appearance. By the time they were adults, Kalea had black eyes and black hair, while Leilani had white eyes and white hair. Still identical in nearly every other physical aspect, the twins have always had a close-knit relationship, which served them well when their magical talent was discovered.

Truly, the Sterling Starsworn could have not asked for a better pairing. While Leilani excelled in healing, enchanting and protective spells, Kalea excelled in the control of gravity - a potent offensive weapon - and the use of nightblaze particles. Even without their considerable magical aptitude, they would have made for excellent recruits. So naturally, when their training ended, they took off like shooting stars. There seemed to be no menace that the Miracle Twins could not defeat. Kalea's creative use of gravity and Leilani's ability to support her made for a very effective combination indeed. If the Miracle Twins continued their streak, then they could have achieved galaxy-wide fame.

Then Leilani Nivel died.

How or why, Kalea refuses to share - or perhaps, she can not share. For when she returned from the mission, still clutching her sister's decaying corpse, she looked as though she had went through hell itself. It took weeks of intensive therapy to bring her out of her catatonia and have her return as a working member of society. And then, just when she saw the light at the end of the tunnel, the Artist took her away.

That was another shock to Kalea's system. Still grief-stricken, she could not connect well to her peers and spent most of her time by her lonesome, staring at stars completely foreign. And when she finally got over the massive culture shock along with the fact that her new home did not have the conveniences she was used to, the soldiers attacked.

What is more, she ended up in the body of a girl she did not know... but reminded her all too much of her long-dead sister. From her appearance, through her behaviour, right up to the name. The resemblance seemed so uncanny to Kalea that, in her grief, she started to believe that Leilani Aren was the reincarnation of her twin sister.
