Genres
I'm open to a wide range of genres. Obscenely wide. It's harder for me to list all I do like than all I don't like.

My favorite settings are fantasy combined with something else, multiverse, post-apoc, historical (mixed with something else), and futuristic. I'm not limited to those, but it's a good start.

My favorite genres include mystery, adventure, action, drama, tragedy (must be mixed with something else and kept balanced), romance (again must be mixed, and more.

I'm happy to include elements of slice-of-life and romance, but doing them on their own doesn't hold my interest indefinitely.
Character Origination Prompts

Time to make a new character, but you're clueless? Just want to invite a new person to live in your head? Want to round out a character who's been untouched for a while?

This thread is for you and anyone else who feels like doing character work today.

Use as many or as few of the prompts as you like, and create!

How Do I Take Part?
Each week, I will post three random prompts in line with the title theme: images, text, dialog, links to articles, or other neat things that seem like they could spark new life. I may also include bonus rounds! You can make whatever character you want, and they don't have to fit everything (or anything at all).

I'll provide an (optional) "basic" character sheet that you can use.

Andrea Hastings

38

Hungarian/Irish eldest daughter of a farmer and his romance novelist wife who live out her novels as she writes them, each book has a corresponding offspring that resulted from their role playing of the characters in the book. They were currently on novel sixteen. Her mother was prolific at many things, birthing children and writing trashy romance novels.

Andrea has spent most of her adult life helping her parents. her mother is mostly absent from the role of mother as she lives out her fantasy books with their father. He however, worked hard to keep them all together and happy. The farm and the sales of the books provided a proper life for them, well most of them. One by one her younger siblings would marry and run from the homestead as fast as they could, leaving Andrea behind to see after the younger ones.

She had days when she resented her mother, and days when she was grateful to have such close relationships with her siblings. There was no in between for her, and no easy way to build any kind of life for herself. She didn't mind it too much until they got a new mail carrier...a handsome fiery haired man with broad shoulders and a blinding smile. Instantly smitten she began to invent reason to be on the porch when the mail was delivered, even going so far as to make him lemonade and cookies.

She'd see his face in her dreams and look forward to that smile every day. Eventually he asked her on a date and she accepted without a thought. Telling her parents about it was a horrifying thing though and she was shocked when they laughed at her. "really Andi? When are you going to do this?" They didn't believe her.

still, she left on the date and when she returned home very late that night she was more than a little in love. She felt like a character in one her mother's novels. Little did she know, she was about to become one as was the poor postman.
