Genres
I'm open to a wide range of genres. Obscenely wide. It's harder for me to list all I do like than all I don't like.

My favorite settings are fantasy combined with something else, multiverse, post-apoc, historical (mixed with something else), and futuristic. I'm not limited to those, but it's a good start.

My favorite genres include mystery, adventure, action, drama, tragedy (must be mixed with something else and kept balanced), romance (again must be mixed, and more.

I'm happy to include elements of slice-of-life and romance, but doing them on their own doesn't hold my interest indefinitely.
Character Origination Prompts

Time to make a new character, but you're clueless? Just want to invite a new person to live in your head? Want to round out a character who's been untouched for a while?

This thread is for you and anyone else who feels like doing character work today.

Use as many or as few of the prompts as you like, and create!

How Do I Take Part?
Each week, I will post three random prompts in line with the title theme: images, text, dialog, links to articles, or other neat things that seem like they could spark new life. I may also include bonus rounds! You can make whatever character you want, and they don't have to fit everything (or anything at all).

I'll provide an (optional) "basic" character sheet that you can use.

Nicknames: Ev, Longjohns

Species: Human

Occupation: He's a farmer pure and simple

Age: 35

Sexuality: Never been married and people speculate a LOT of things because of it, he however never speaks much about it

Eyes: Brown which he feels is part of the fact of his calling to work the land and have the soil in his hands, they have a sleepy look to them since his upper lids tend to droop over his eyes a bit.

Hair: Also brown and generally unkempt from the wind and sweat of working out in the elements.

Features: He's deeply tanned except in the bitterest cold of winter when his skin tends t lighten up a little bit, and he has a few more wrinkles than most his age because of the time he spends in the sun during planting and harvest seasons. His hands are rough and calloused from that rigors of his chosen profession as well.

Height: almost 6 feet but not quite

Build: While his skin and hands suffer from his work, his body does not. He has toned and lithe muscles that are only obtained from physical work. He's not afraid to show them either, though there is generally noone around to notice. He does work in just his jeans and boots a good deal of the summer no shirt to be seen.

Outfit: Jeans and boots, in the colder months a flannel shirt

Impression: Most people take him for a fool for many reasons

History: Everest Long was born to explorer parents. They'd been maping out remote villages in Africa, and searching for lost tribes in the many and sundry islands of Vanautu. He'd grown up eating off the land and being out doors. When his father was taken ill and tragically died, he and his mother returned to their home town of Houston, Texas. She'd been given a comfortable place that her uncle had offered. A barn that had been turned into an apartment. Her uncle had been a farmer ages ago, but now that the government was paying him to let the land lie fallow, he was sitting back and enjoying the life of a retired man, though he was only fifty or so. They lived there all through Everest's formative years and though it was not longer a working farm, Everest still planted a garden for he and his mother. By the time Everest graduated college there were no gentleman farmers left, all farms were automated in every way. Still, he's worked all through college and saved money to buy land, and he'd decided to buy his uncle's land and keep it in the family. His uncle sold all of it to him for every cent he'd saved, which Everest had unwisely revealed. He'd been farming it even though the government kept offering to pay him to leave the ground fallow. He'd always politely decline and if he couldn't sell everything he'd donate to shelters and even sent some out of the country. He made most of his living from the breeding and studding of his animals which were unusually healthy and strong. People began to wonder about Ev living all alone out of town, but he didn't mind that too much. He was happy to sit and sing to the animals and whittle on the porch. No one bothered him and he had no stress. I He figured he had this whole life thing figured out.

Hook/Summary: The problem with Ev's philosophy was that it angered the politicians who were trying to control what people ate, thought and did. So, unbeknownst to Ev a group started to plot his downfall...
