Introduction

In ancient times, the gods of ignis (fire), lacus (water), aer (air), and terra (earth) created a planet made to form life. The first humans and animals were created by the gods. They did not know anything and talked in a language lost to time. They planet thrived for many years giving birth to a new life as the time went on and evolution took hold. Animals and plants evolved. Human learning new things and become a larger population. Soon breaking into small kingdoms. Yes, the world thrived as humans learned to write, read, and invent new things as they continued to live in a world of peace.

This was until the planet was under attack, they chose certain humans to give powers over the elements. The leaders of the army against dark outside forces was a man with fire power and a human wife. For years they fought against the unknown outside forces. They had five kids, a boy named Pace Celsius and their quadruplets, Ornetta, Rea, Aurea, and Mena Celsius. When one day his parents were needed for a serious battle against an unknown enemy he was asked to keep them safe, as well as himself. His parents didn't return from that battle.

Furious at the loss of their parents Ornetta, Rea, Aurea, and Mena combined their powers and, against their brother's wishes, fought in the war. After many years of fighting, they ended the war and brought the peace back to the world. Though there were many losses in the battle they were seen as heroes when they thought of themselves as killers. It wasn't until their brother told he was proud of them that they remembered the good they had brought to the world.

As they grew older Pace became his younger sister's caregiver. He soon discovered he retained his mother's human qualities while his sisters very quickly started to show their powers, one from each element of the gods. Pace trained the girls with their powers. After the sad day when their brother died many years later, they went out in search of a purpose. They found a village of families and kids like them. In memory of how their brother raised and helped them with their powers, they opened a school named Celsius Academy where they could pass his kindness down to the generations to come.

Plot

It's 2015 and the world magic world is plunged into war. Celsius Academy is in the center of it. The students of the Academy are still being trained but, now they must choose whether to stay on the path of good or step onto the path of darkness. Just remember when you go to the dark side it's very hard to switch back. The school has special barriers put in place to protect the school and its students, but war is on their doorsteps. A war that has been going on for a few years now. A cliche light versus dark war. One side wants to continue to follow the guidance of the gods and follow the path of light and serenity. The other side wishes to follow a dark path, wanting to have one true leader in their war, that leader being a man named Michael Landgrab.

Michael Landgrab is following the path of darkness and wishes for nothing but war and destruction. He's a cruel man who will do anything to win the war and become the ruler of the world. Though he does have spies in his ranks that he has no idea about. They relay information to their leaders and to Sylvia McMurry in hopes she will join them. Their attempt has been lost. Now Michael also has his own spies in the good sides ranks that also relay information to Sylvia and their leader. It's an endless war that will not end until a certain person joins them.

Sylvia McMurry, the current Headmistress of Celsius Academy, is the only known descendant of one of the founders of Celsius Academy. For years she has lived in secret taking care of her students, staff, and school. This was until one of her staff or students leaked information on her to the outside world. Letting both sides know of her origin that she had kept secret for many years. Now both sides have been trying to sway her to there side, but she still stands as a neutral party. Sylvia believed there was no need to fight and that everyone should just live in peace. As the Headmistress of the school, she has no need to be in the fight. No need to be on any side but her schools.

There's one problem though. She is the only thing keeping the barriers up. If she leaves school grounds the barriers disappear, and both sides will be able to enter school grounds. This would cause chaos through the school and world itself. Because of this, there are rules put in place at the school to keep the kids safe. Sylvia only wants there to be a safe place for all the students to live in peace as they learn to control their powers.

Story

This story begins a few years after the war started. New students and old students have arrived at the school for another year of learning to control their powers. Some are there for their last year and are contemplating which side to join while others are coming for their first year and while scared they are also excited for their first year of school. The Headmistress has a new speech to give the students who are leaving as well as the usual speech for the new students.

But unknown to them in Sylvia's office lay 2 letters. One from the good and one from the dark. Upon seeing the letters she will call a meeting with the teachers after orientation to discuss the letters in full detail. What is decided at this meeting will shape the story as it goes on. Some teachers may even start picking sides. All the while the students live in ignorant bliss as they meet their roommates and look over their new schedules.

Basic

Name - Bridget Theosia Krestlauv, aka Bri
Age - 16
Birthday - August 20, 1999
Gender - Female
Sexuality - Lesbian
Power - Electricity
Occupation - Student, Sophomore

School Information

Room Number - 3, Girls Dorm
Year - Sophomore
House - Terra
Electives - Healing and Sword Fighting
Clubs - School Paper, Photographer
Sports - Baseball, Right Field

Appearance

Hair - Short and wispy brunette hair styled into a sloppy pixie-cut. Nine times out of ten, her bangs are covering her eye, laying however they please against her forehead.
Eyes - A mesmerizing hue of ocean blue, yet Bri's eyes are dulled by a certain sadness lurking underneath.
Body - Standing at surprising height of 6'1" and weighing 155 lbs. Bri's form is rather lanky, but well supported with an athletic and chiseled figure. Her skin is an odd cross between soft and rough, especially with the burns marking her hands, though they healed over years ago. Faint scarring remained. She hides a peculiar scar on her upper thigh, which is composed of four lines running up to her hip.
Complexion - She's slightly tan from the frequent sun exposure, but is prone to paling quickly during the winter and fall seasons. Moles and beauty marks cover her entire body.
Dress - Her uniform is always worn properly and to perfection, not a single button left undone nor an inch of her collar or cuffs upturned. Her casual attire is usually a loose white top and soft peach shorts, accented by a pair of running sneakers. Sometimes she switches it out for over-sized t-shirts and jogging pants. No matter the outfit, the colors are rather harmonious and Bri feels most comfortable in this style.

Extra - None

Persona

Personality - Initial impressions will lead everyone into believing that Bri is a very tranquil, monotonous, and centered soul. She only speaks when she's addressed and is more likely to savor sweet solitude rather than toss herself into the spotlight. She tends to disappear without word, especially if she feels that the world is baring down on her in an unwelcome manner. She does not mean to worry or offend others when she does this, but it's necessary for her emotional stability. To recuperate, she likes to find a comfy corner or nook of some sort, settle down into the lotus position, and meditate; such a session can last from five minutes to five hours. It all depends on the severity of her spiritual agitation.

However, Bri meditates for another reason. Finding her Zen and connection with nature around her helps to keep her impulses under control. Ever since she was an infant, she had a slew of impulses knocking at the back of her skull and begging to act. These actions are usually comprised of affectionate touches, invasion of another's personal space, fidgeting, and bursts of aggression. If Bri neglects her daily meditation, then she will gradually evolve into a different person full of zeal and empty of discipline. Once she treads into this half of her personality, it's hard to clamp down and return to normal. Not impossible, but difficult.

Likes - Meditation, incenses (particular lavender scent), soft material such as wool and cotton, touching things, comforting silence, philosophical conversations, literature, Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Herman Melville (her favorite poet, philosopher, and author).
Dislikes - Math (it's too objective for her tastes), not being in total control of herself, harming the environment, potatoes (any variation of it, whether it be french fries or scalloped potatoes...since she's allergic), Pepto Bismol (she's also allergic to it and hates the taste), and the smell of tobacco smoke.
Hobbies - Studying people from afar (people watching), reading and writing poetry, basking in the rain during thunderstorms, and blocking out the world with soft indie music.
Strengths - Calm and collected, reasonable, insightful and sensitive to other's emotions, surprisingly strong, English, and good memory.
Weakness - Becoming comfortable with others, speaks too vaguely sometimes/poor communication, refuses to depend on others, tends to follow logic over her own emotions, bottles up her emotions, and holds back her thoughts a lot.
Fears - Fire, hurting her friends or loved ones, losing control, disappointing others, and airplanes (hearing and riding them)
Ambition - To start a rehabilitation program and raise money for troubled youths, which includes elemental-users, normal children, and war victims.

History

"As for me, I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote. I love to sail forbidden seas, and land on barbarous coasts." - Herman Melville, Moby Dick

Bri had battled a similar itch for as long as she could remember. She was a troubling child, full of so much energy and aggression that the Krestlauv's had no idea how to handle her. Her behavior was unpredictable and a new issue that the wealthy family had never seen before. It was unsightly and brought on a certain humiliation to their reputation. "Oh, have you heard about their youngest child? She's a complete nightmare!", "I've heard the little monster destroys her summer dresses and wallows in the mud. How uncouth.", "I bet she's actually a result of some affair. The Krestlauvs are full of scandals, I just know it." and several more rumors of similar nature spread throughout the community.

Bri's behavior worsened as she aged. On her twelfth birthday, she committed a mistake that lead to the death of more than just the Krestlauv's reputation. Instead of obeying her parents and remaining inside, as there was a thunderstorm unraveling, she stealthily crawled onto the roof through her bedroom window and sat there, gazing up at the darkening sky and eyes wide in wonder. She loved the sound of thunder and the brilliance of lightning. It was fleeting, but powerful, two things that she craved most of all. Something buzzed through her veins and roared in her ears like a familiar lullaby and like a moth to a flame, she couldn't help but reach out to the heavens, wishing to feel that unreachable freedom.

In the blink of an eye, the clouds roared and a bolt of lightning set her aflame like a beacon. There was no pain. No agonizing shock to her system. Only this electric buzzing that made her usual adrenaline rushes wither in comparison. It was sweet and addictive. The electricity danced about her skin like loving and wild caresses, rendering her speechless in a trance of liberation...It wasn't until she smelled smoke that reality crashed down around her.

The mansion was on fire. Her carelessness had ignited flames along the ceiling and was fed into by her elemental power until they grew to dangerous degrees. In the aftermath, she and her family managed to escape. However, all but one person survived and the damage dealt was irreparable. In the end, Bri's nanny perished in the fire, whom she was far closer to than her parents and viewed in a motherly light. The Krestlauvs were forced to move to a different neighborhood with the ghosts of their tragedy following their trail like a bloodhound. Their name was forever blemished and any resentment the family had towards Bri skyrocketed. She was shunned, hated, and barely acknowledged; they remained civil to her in the public eye, but that was where the amicable atmosphere stopped.

Despite all of the loathing piled onto her, Bri vowed to reform herself and never commit a mistake like that ever again. She took up meditation as the first step towards muting her impulses, which wasn't effective until a few months in. Initially, the silence and stillness ate away at her being, until she was clawing restlessly at her thighs. Once she had a firm grasp on how to find her center, the scratching was longer an issue and she found peace in the isolation that once pained her.

Once Bri was old enough (14), her parents were desperate to move her as far away from possible. To banish the demon child from their lives without wrecking their name in the process. Thus, they pulled strings to overlook the fire scandal and, with a hefty series of sympathy pleas, managed to enroll Bri into Celsius Academy. Her impressive grades helped to overshadow her behavioral complaints from past teachers, on top of her recently tamed personality and advocating around the community for environmental awareness.

She spent the first year at Celsius Academy on a low profile. The first semester was focused on her adapting to the new lifestyle and coming to terms with the fact that her family had literally dumped her. It was only the iota of prestige left in their reputation that prevented them from disowning her completely. It was during the second semester that the war struck. Filled to the brim with concern, Bri attempted to contact her family, but they never answered her calls. All she got in return were letters, very few, very vague and...off. No matter how much she pleaded for more information, her parents refused to relieve anything beyond monotonous and insignificant updates. Nothing about the war. Bri could only draw up one conclusion as to why they shut her off--another form of shunning. An indirect punishment. Of forcing her to wallow in her own concern and having no way out. Bri accepted this fate bitterly and tried to throw herself into clubs and sports as a distraction.

Now, at the beginning of her second year, Bri operates on pilot mode while internally gnawing on her nails. She's not entirely aimless in her existence, however, as she does have a dream to earn enough respect and money to start a rehabilitation program for troubled youths, elemental-users, citizens, and victims of the war alike.

What about options for teachers groups and such surely that would help the school, and i'm not sure about most schools but ok
Teacher help sessions will be the only teacher groups there are. I'm sorry but I'd like to stick with what I have up.

I remember seeing this around before and it has caught my fancy. Though before I make a CS I want to ask if having a picture is a must? Because I really dislike looking for real life ones....
You don't have to have a picture if you can give a good description of what your character looks like :)
Then I shall start working on my CS asap! This has so much potential for a great RP, it has me really excited!

Though I do have a few questions about how things will be handled. For one, wouldn't it be easier if everyone was a part of the same class? If we are all from different years, won't that make everything harder since students of different years don't have the same lessons?
I imagine that is the reason why sports and clubs are limited, so that they would be full and characters would interact together more.
Also, I know we have to make a post each 5 days, but will there be some kind of order? To make sure no one is left behind or that two people don't start tossing messages back and worth?

Lastly, I had this idea for my character and I wanted to ask you if I can go with it.
Basically, my char would've went to a different school, but it got closed down after being damaged due to a war conflict that happened near by. Because of that, my char enrolled to Celsius. I thought of this up because I want my char to be new to the school and its system, but at the same time, not a first year. For an additional plot twist, they could also be forced to repeat a school year, because their last school wasn't up to par with Celsius, but for that, again, I would need your permission. owo

Okay let's crack out these questions!

1. While this is a school rp it won't really focus on the school aspect and will kinda skip over classes here and there. Thinking about it I should probably make different schedule's for each year. Anyway, the different year aspect is so there are more advanced students and more newer students so it's not just a bunch of new people running around going what the hell am I doing.

2. There will be no posting order. I really don't like those and I don't have a valid reason other than it takes away from people interacting with each other right away. If that makes sense. But I believe in the rules I said no going back and forth and that if you were, do it in a collab as to not take up much space in the thread and to not spam it with messages. I've had this happen before and that's why that rule is there.

3. That's a really cool concept! I like the twist since Celsius is a more advanced school it would make sense that they would have to repeat a grade. I say the idea is a go! I can't wait to see what your character's history looks like now.

Basics
Name:
Kaito Kuroyuki
Age: 17
Birthday: February 11th, 1998
Gender: Male
Sexuality: He's still figuring it out
Power: Metal
Occupation: Student, 2nd year

School Information
Room Number:
Boys' dorm room 5
House: Ignis
Electives: Hand to hand combat, Sword fighting
Clubs: Book club (member)
Sports: Gymnastics (member)

Appearance
Hair:
Kaito has ridiculously messy black hair that puffs up to all sides and has somewhat of a wave to it. Uneven locks fall over his face, though only a few long enough to get in his eyes, and no matter how many times he tucks them behind his ears, only one or two strands actually stay there for more than a second. He cuts his hair to keep it slightly above his shoulders, somewhere around chin level, but doesn't try to otherwise tame the unruly mess. When the weather is hot or wayward strands get in his way a little too much, he does try to wrestle it into a low pony tail with varying degrees of success.
Eyes: He has light blue eyes that are almost always half way closed in disinterest. Dark circles under his eyes seem to be a prominent feature as well.
Body: The boy has a lean figure built over years of physical activity decorated with scars and marks from stuff he wasn't supposed to be doing. He's more on the short side of the spectrum, standing around 5'3'' (160 cm), while his weight measures around 119 lbs (54 kg). Most notably on his chest, slightly to the left from the center, he has a thin, X shaped scar no bigger than his middle finger in length.
Complexion: Kaito has very fair skin that hasn't seen very much sunlight prior to arriving at his new school.
Dress: Just like everyone else, he usually wears the compulsory uniform (with the short sleeved shirt) coupled with dark red sneakers, although he does tend to accidentally forget his tie quite a bit. On his free time, Kaito strongly leans towards dark colours; wine red being his favourite, though navy and dark grey dominate his wardrobe as they are the best options for stealth. He adores furs and feathers, so he often sews them to his clothing as decorations. He tends to wear sleeveless shirts and loose or cargo type pants held up by a belt that is never tied correctly, since anything else is way too warm for him. He does own a few hoodies, but they never see the light of day. Shoe-wise, anything goes although he does have a soft spot for combat boots.
Extra: He has quite a few piercings: three stud type lobe piercings and one industrial on each ear and ring snake bites.

Persona
Personality:
Kaito might look like a typical thug, but where there should be a scowl only a disinterested look will be found. He's quite laid back and easy-going, brushing off some things other people would find startling, impressive or just plain crazy. That shouldn't be taken for granted, though, as he has a rather short burner when it comes to insults or people messing around his creative space and stuff. However most of the fights and arguments that stem from this shouldn't be taken too seriously as there isn't any real animosity behind them, at least not from his side.

Additionally, Kaito is very devoted to anyone he recognizes as authority and will do his best to carry out their orders, albeit he might take some artistic liberties with them. Whenever he does, it's rarely from ill intent and more so his way to avoid boredom or attempts to impress and protect. Actually, Kaito is surprisingly protective of his surroundings be it people or things. He would go out of his way to ensure their safety. Furthermore, he doesn't mind lending his ear to those who need it, but expecting kind words back would be a little too much. He isn't someone who would lie or agree just to spare someone's feelings - if you messed up then own up to it.

Kaito also doesn't like when things become too still and quiet, so when it does he often tries to liven up his surrounding by stirring up some trouble for cheap entertainment. He might pit someone against each other by putting one's belongings into the other's pockets, drop a bucket of water on someone's head or feed them a spider. It's just his type of humour. Speaking of which, people can almost always count on him to laugh when they crack a joke. Kaito has a tendency to look at things from the brighter side, often comparing how events could have turned far worse. But he also leaks sarcasm everywhere, whenever he can. In the grand scheme of things, the two tend to mix up making it hard to distinguish his actual intentions.

Besides that, Kaito adores messing around with various materials, especially wood and metals, to create anything that comes to mind. It's his main way of expressing himself and he has a good head on his shoulders for it. He will tear apart any foreign object he comes into contact with and rebuild it into something new. He's very dedicated to his work and anything else he does, so he rarely leaves a project unfinished. Kaito can get so incredibly immersed in it, that he completely forgets there's more to the world than the tiny watch he's trying to put together. Actually, even without the distraction he's incredibly forgetful.

Likes:
Any kind of creative process that forces him to think and/or allows him to express himself through his handiwork;
Very old type of music – it brings back good memories and generally he finds it more relatable than the newer enthusiasm filled sounds. He's also pretty fond of guitars, although he can enjoy any kind of instrument;
Taste of metal – it is quite rare to see him without an iron nail rolling between his lips and it's just a generally comforting taste. He picked the habit up while ago and yes, he's well aware it' a weird one;
The perfect weather: the skies are cloudy, but it isn't raining, there's a soft wind and the temperature is down. If only it stayed like that forever;
Travelling – he is extremely curious about the rest of the world. He wants to see, smell and feel everything the word can offer, but does so cautiously, since dying isn't on that list.

Dislikes:
Hot weather – he finds the temperature unbearable and hard to cope with (guess working as a blacksmith didn't rise his tolerance for heat). It leaves him drenched in sweat – a fact that disgusts him and anyone that catches a whiff of his odour;
Taller girls – quite a few have teased him before or made him otherwise feel uncomfortable, so he does tend to avoid them when he can;
Onions – because his eyes do not approve of their cruel ways;
People invading his privacy behind his back – he enjoys writing stuff down in a journal, which is private and thus shouldn't be seen by anyone's eyes, but his;
Other people messing around his creative space without his permission, or even worse – cleaning it up. Seriously, it's not cool.

Hobbies:
Writing something between poetry and song lyrics – for him, it is a way to reflect on his actions and experiences. The things he writes down might not be considered a work of art, but he enjoys the process. However he would rather die than show anyone the stuff he comes up with;
Collecting furs and feathers – he always has an eye out for something new to add to his ever growing collection that he uses to fancy up his clothing. There is something about their patterns and softness that he finds very hard to resist;
Admiring swimmers – swimming is a sport he sees as majestic and incredible, so he likes to watch swimmers perform. However when he's in the water himself, he feels like a cow on ice, even if he's actually a good swimmer;
Messing around with trinkets and other technological shenanigans – he has a knack for finding his way around new machinery and few things can rival his interest in it, making it is his go-to hobby whenever he's bored as well as a talent;
Sewing – while he couldn't make anything from complete scratch (like a basket full yarn, tread and wool) he can stitch together already existing pieces, decorate them or do a simple patch job. Just don't expect anything really fancy – it will never look as good as new.

Strengths:
Dedicated – if he set out to do a thing, he will follow it through;
Creative – he can up with the weirdest things on the spot;
High stamina – it takes a while to wear him down;
Flexible – he can use anything he has on hand as a weapon and can quickly change tactics.

Weakness:
Short-tempered – when faced with insults he has a lot of trouble keeping a cool head;
Forgetful – things just slip his mind, like, all the time;
Overconfident – he knows things he's good at and can take that to extremes, which come back to bite him in the butt;
Lackluster weapon skills – he never trained with any kind of weapon preferring improvisation, leaving quite the gap in his combat knowledge;
Foul play – most of his combat skills come from the street and old habits make it hard for him to fight in a formal setting.

Fears:
Kaito is afraid of thunder, because he views it as an unstoppable phenomena you can't predict, influence nor escape. The sound of it makes him slightly uneasy, but seeing it flash somewhere near him when he didn't expect it can seriously freak him out;
He doesn't fair well with animals of any kind, including birds and insects. He finds them annoying and hard to understand. As long as they leave him alone, he won't do anything, but if they come too close he might get aggressive. If he had to pick the worst one, it would be dogs. Don't be surprised if he starts going off in a completely different direction when he sees one or hides. He is just not dealing with that drolly, sharp-toothed, growling flea-bag;
He's really cautions when he is trying new food – he will ask a bunch of questions about it, sniff it more than once, force others to eat it first and so on. All of this comes from the single time he gave himself a food poisoning. Not a fun time, trust him.

Ambition: Kaito adores adventures and would love to see the world someday, preferably as a pirate (he's a kid, let him dream). Finding his biological parents would also be a neat accomplishment.

History
Kaito grew up in a place referred to as Hyoda or Swimming mountains. It is a very peculiar place for many reasons. It has a cold harsh climate; the winters are so cold, anyone on the surface of the mountains usually freezes to death in a day. However, the snow does melt away at the foot of the mountains for a couple weeks in the middle of summer. Because of such extreme weather, natives live inside the mountains where they have dug out tunnels ages ago. It is a place rich with mined minerals which get traded for necessities with the rest of the country. The people who lived there were very similar to their home and generally disliked foreigners.

Just like most kids, Kaito doesn't remember much of the first 5 or so years of his life, although he has heard a ton of stories about that time from Hakuko. Probably one of the most 'important' events in his life would be when the woman found a nameless three-year-old freezing to death at the edge of her village. Most villagers strongly disagreed with her choice to bring home and keep the child, but she didn't care and with her living much closer to the surface than most because of her work as a blacksmith, so the villager's disdain hardly bothered the two. Hakuko never hid the fact that he was adopted, although even if she had tried, people loved to remind Kaito of that fact pretty much every time he was out of the house. No one really bothered him more than that, mostly in fear of Hakuko's wrath which could rival a force of nature. It also made it for a good show as long as it wasn't directed at him.

Hakuko wasn't a typical housewife or the greatest mother. She acted like a brute, often abusing the child's naive nature and poking fun at his gullibility. She was sarcastic, forceful and often came off as uncaring. Kaito liked to call her selfish and they bickered sometimes… Okay, a lot. But she was still the best mother he ever had; she was the one who gave him a name, taught him the basic stuff, like properly holding a spoon, and eventually forced Kaito to help her with forging new tools, weapons and such. Their home was rather simple, all the money for fancy stuff always went to the forge where the two spent pretty much all the time that wasn't wasted on eating and sleeping. Although, even if it hadn't, most of the technologies didn't survive long in the cold temperature or their signals were too weak to reach anything beyond the rocky walls, so Kaito never complained. However, he did complain a lot about being so cut off from the world and constantly sought for more knowledge about it, be it in a form of stories or books.

This lead to new parenting trick of sorts: if Kaito behaved for two weeks he would get a book about whatever he wanted. He hadn't gotten a new one since he was six or something. That was also around the time he started attending school in a bigger neighboring town which was still very far away and if you missed the bus, there was no other way to get there on time. He missed the bus home quite a lot, especially as he got older and it lead to quite some interesting adventures in the town's night streets. At some point he managed to make a gang of sorts which terrorized other students. The school itself was alright, sometimes the lessons were interesting and kids knew better than to try to bully him.

Kaito often brought home various trinkets from school, small projects that fuelled his technological obsession. Hakuko helped him make a small workshop of sorts that was part of the forge and he spent countless nights there simply enjoying himself. On one such occasion he got really absorbed working on a small toy, so much so, he didn't lift his eyes up from it and just blindly gropes for his tools. At some point he needed a screwdriver that was across the room and with a small wave of his hand he got it without paying the action much thought. If it wasn't for his Hakuko who saw the whole thing he would have probably never noticed that he had this strange ability to just float metal objects towards him, since he was rather sure it wasn't the first time he did such a thing. She said he definitely had a talent and he shrugged. It did lead him to exploring these abilities, though.

Some years went by and the war started. At first it didn't change anything around him, besides Hakuko banning him from using his abilities anywhere outside of their house, not just on school grounds. Then some tension started to creep into the school as everyone's parent had an opinion about the war the kids had to proclaim and most teachers picked sides. However, over one weekend the war got really close. The location was convenient, since the villages were far and few in between around here, not to mention the mountains and the icy desserts made for a perfect battlefield. One conflict got out of hand and damaged the school along with the town. They could've rebuilt it, sure, but it no longer felt safe. Instead most people agreed to send their kids further away from this horror to learn, some even whole families moved out.

It wasn't the end of the world and Kaito didn't see a reason why he couldn't be home-schooled instead. Hakuko didn't quite see eye-to-eye on that one and by some kind of a miracle managed to get him into Celsius Academy - the fanciest school he had ever heard about. She said the place would help him explore his abilities more while also straightening out his bad behaviour. He didn't want to go, didn't want to leave her even though he would never admit that out loud. But she was a very smart woman much to his annoyance and used his own words about his wishes to travel against him. And then he found out he would need to repeat a grade and basically be stuck with kids younger by him, oh that made him absolutely furious, which lead to a very vulgar shouting contest.
The next day he got his butt kicked out of the house along with his meager belongings... so off to this famous academy!

History - Sophie was happy living with her mom and dad in a small apartment near the school, until he joined the war efforts and was sent away to his death. Sophie's mom didn't talk about it much, and Sophie honestly doesn't know which side of the war he was on. She assumed it was the light side, but she didn't know and was afraid to ask. She only recently discovered her powers and has barely begun trying to use them.

About two years ago, shortly after her father died, Sophie found Durran lying in the grass by the side of the road while she was walking to the supermarket for groceries. Noticing that his eyes were open, Sophie was curious as to what he was looking at. She tried to follow his gaze but was unsuccessful. In no particular hurry, she decided to lay down next to him to get a better vantage point on whatever was holding his interest so strongly. Positioned diagonally (so as not to be too close), she let her head rest so that it was almost touching his. Still nothing; she couldn't figure it out.

"Ah! Good to meet you. Was wonderin' which patch o' grass was the right one ta be lyin' in."
She sat up and turned toward him in the dry grass. "For what?"
"For this. What else could I be here for? After all, Morraine Fall is puttin' on a beautiful display of, oh what do they say it tis here...fireworks! Yes, fireworks is the word. Morraine Fall is puttin' on a beautiful display o' fireworks today and I knew it was the day I was ta meet someone. You of course."
"Really, fireworks?! Tonight? I love fireworks! Is there a festival or something?" She beamed, then hesitated, confused. "Wait... you knew you were supposed to meet me today? Are you some kind of psychic or something?"
"Sigh kick? Kicking while sighing? Strange and stranger. Course I knew to meet you. Not that I'd knew it'd be you, but the meeting has happened right enough. And no, no festival tonight. Although, Morraine's display is no less beautiful than any festival at night or day. But here and now! Specially with this little breeze blowin' on through."
"Oh. Hmm." She laid back down, now content to stare at the trees as he did. A strand of hair fell in front of her lips, and she blew it out of her face. At the same time, a new breeze blew some leaves the same direction. She blushed, hoping he wouldn't notice. "How did you know you'd meet someone?" She asked. "And what kind of someone?" I doubt I'll meet expectations, she thought.
"Ah, Morraine Fall has now a partner I see. Tis fine, tis fine. She's not the jealous one. But I knew what I knew when I saw it. Bright and burning in flames. Knew there was a thud. A person thud of fallin', or lyin' down by how my head moved in the seen. See? Didn't know who. Didn't know when. But yer as right as sunshine on daisies in fittin' with what I saw."
"Well alright then." She paused as she tried to make out what he meant. Maybe she was being paranoid, but it seemed like he'd noticed. Of course, it also seemed like he didn't care, so that was good, at least. "So... you saw a person in flames... falling or laying next to you?"
"Felt a person in the flames. Saw the trees now. Took a couple grass checks to find the right one. Here."
She sat up to look at the picture. It was exactly what they were looking at, the trees and the leaves falling against the sky. "Okay..." she drew out, still puzzled. "So, you saw this vision, and you felt a person... so you just went around laying in grassy spots until you found one that matched the picture? And then you waited for me to show up?" She shook her head, dumbfounded. "Well that's really something."
"Yup."
"And the vision didn't tell you my name?"
"Visions don't speak."
"Oh, of course. Silly me. Well, it's Sophie."
"Mine is Durran, Durran Servansky." A hand appeared in her line of sight, and she shook it at an awkward angle.
"Nice to meet you. I'd really better get going to the market before my mom starts to worry. But this was... nice?"
"Nice indeed!" He jumped to his feet. "Remember to keep an eye on Morraine's work! She pulls a wonder down here I ne'er seen before. Well, be seeing you!"
"Yeah," she said, pulling herself up. "I'll be sure to do that."

As she walked away and pondered their strange meeting, it suddenly hit her: Morraine Fall. He'd personified autumn and named her. Sophie was about to hit her forehead with her right hand before she realized she was still holding his picture. She turned around to ask him about it, but he was already gone.
"Huh. I guess I'll return it to him when I... what did he say? 'Be seeing' him."

Appearance

Hair - Dark hair cut into a medium fade.
Eyes - His eyes are a sad and dark hue of chocolate.
Body - He stands at a height of 6'0" and weighing approximately 175 lbs. He has a fairly muscular build and carries himself with a carefree yet smooth gait.
Complexion - Dark skin tone
Dress - For his uniform, Anton tends to be quite loose. The top two buttons of his undershirt are always unbuttoned, with his silver tie loosened. His blazer is completely unbuttoned (unless a teacher catches him...then he's gotta button up, which is no fun). Underneath his khakis, his socks are either black or white; either way, they fade from attention whenever he dawns his precious sandals, which are black, old, and have duct tape holding the heels in place. He refuses to wear any other footwear unless the circumstances truly, seriously beckons for it. In casual clothing, he's usually sporting a simple white t-shirt and beige shorts or a long-sleeve sweater with a low-hanging v-neck and fitting blue jeans.

Extra - Anton is slathered in tattoos. A sleeve of floral designs decorate his right arm from shoulder to elbow, several personal quotes splayed across his pectorals, the phrase "reflect before you deflect" across his upper back, and a tribal sun on his left shoulder. From time to time, he proudly displays his ox-piercing alongside his ear studs, but understands that the tattoos can be off-putting on their own and tends to keep them off.

Persona

Personality - Anton believes in one thing and one thing only--to go with the flow and shine with your unique light in the process. He is eccentric, outspoken, and always itching to socialize with whoever has the patience to listen to his constant chatter. By no means is he a gossip or rumor spreader, but Anton always finds himself in that awkward position of being everyone's "Dirty Secret Closet". So it would always end up with him caught in the middle of two people's drama, watching them go back and forth helplessly like an intense tennis match. The only method he has for dismantling arguments is to scream out "Party Trick!" and start playing the Cup Song...The success rate is 50/50. Outside of his unfortunate magnetism for petty drama, Anton also has a series of ticks that result in some form of light skin mutilation. They can range from picking at his forearm until scratches appear on Monday to biting off the sensitive edges of his thumb on Friday. They're all unconscious and annoying habits that Anton does his best to hide.

Despite his bubbly personality, Anton hits his low moments every now and then. He'd rather jump into a tar pit than to place his emotional burdens onto others; thus in those times, he will excuse himself for a day or two and recuperate in isolation. Once he returns, he pretends as if he never disappeared to begin with and keeps it moving.

Likes - Making others laugh, body art, socializing, Diet Iced Peach/Green Tea, Sweet Tea, sweets, emotional bonding, earning other's trust, cats and dogs, forensic science and deduction (he'll binge Forensic Files like it's nobody's business)
Dislikes - Asparagus (it makes your pee smell weird...), heights, manipulating others/lying, drama taken a tad too far, frogs and lizards, hot weather, dark chocolate, stress
Hobbies - Hanging out with friends, watching Stand Up comedians, pretending that everyone is involved in some sort of conspiracy and narrating their criminal lifestyles in a horrid accent (don't ask him what nationality because he has no freaking idea), drawing little pictures on his skin with temporary marker
Strengths - Adaptable, a team player, innovative-thinker, agile and fast, good with clues and deduction
Weakness - Has a history of stress-induced seizures, gullible, grows attached to someone far too quickly, overly curious, passive to a fault, easily distracted
Fears - Abandonment, loneliness, never reaching self-actualization, seizing at the worst possible moment
Ambition - As much as this petrifies Anton, he has no real ambitions in life besides surviving the turmoil brought on by war. As long as he lives a happy life and watches his loved ones grow into the wonderful people they're destined to be, he can't fathom asking for anything more.

History

Anton's life was rather taxing.

The Sheerlofts had taken root along the eastern coast, jumping from city to city as the generations passed and their business evolved, which was the cultivating of clay minerals to create and sell ceramics. An artistic flare was tantamount to the Sheerloft name, on top of learning the ins and outs of how to find the clay they needed in abundance. No season, no stray storm forecast, no rising of the tides was ignored if one wished to pinpoint a bed of rich sediment on the Pacific coast. Children of the Sheerloft family are traditionally given the option of whether to enhance their eye for design or hone their intuition for clay hunting--there was never an alternative.

Thus, Anton believed himself to share an affinity for clay hunting, as he always loved the sensation of his bare feet sifting through the sand, as if he was gliding effortlessly on air. The tangy taste of sea salt in the hair, the crisp breeze dancing off the shore, the gorgeous blend of colors and hues as it stained the setting horizon--he loved all of it. However, Anton was disheartened and discouraged upon realizing his troubles with learning the ways of clay hunting. With each new beach his family explored, the more confused he became. A sudden change of scenery, a wrench thrown into the learning process. He found himself trapped in a perpetual loop of playing Catch Up. Finally, at the age of 9, he asked his parents to move him to the design department of their family business. The request was unexpected and his parents warned him that he'd be diving headfirst into advanced territory with absolutely no training in his arsenal. Anton understood these consequences and accepted them for what they were.

Unfortunately, this department proved to be far more frustrating than clay hunting. No matter how majestic his mind's eye envisioned a design, his hands couldn't breathe life to the image. His ceramic pieces were pathetic and sad in their design, the dips and glazes always a dull, ugly mess. The impatience had spread throughout his family, resulting in Anton falling to the bottom of the latter and lurking within his siblings' shadows. He was caught in limbo for a few months and often avoided work altogether to roam the beach on bare feet, hoping to distance himself from the awful stress and pressure. On one of those occasions, he had stumbled upon a cave a few miles away from home and deemed it his personal sanctuary. The inflow was tame and slow, which softened the sand into something pleasant and malleable. It was quiet, filled with a gentle ambiance of waters wading and distant seagulls flapping. However, when Anton grew curious and ventured deeper into the cave, the sand underneath him caved and he began to sink. The child was certain that he would suffocating in a prison of wet sand, over for solidified blocks to form at his hands and feet. He had quickly climbed his way out, eyes wide and shocked at the phenomenon.

He ran home and refused to tell a soul about the experience.

Anton spent the next handful of months secretly honing his elemental abilities on the beach, all while dealing with the stress of his family business. The combined workload proved to be negative for his health, as he had underwent a seizure in the middle of ceramic glazing and was rushed to medical aid. It was suggested that he must avoid the pressures of the Sheerloft business. In the end, Anton's condition was both a curse and blessing. No longer forced to craft ceramics, he devoted nearly all of his time to manipulating sand and exploring his skills, all while understanding how much stress his body could handle before the warning signs kicked in. He had unveiled his abilities to his family, whose reactions were a mixture of awe and indifference. Up until the age of 14, Anton had a firm grasp of sand manipulation, often inventing new and creative ways to apply his findings (such as helping his family find clay pits every once in a while), on top of dallying in the dimensions of glass.

Nonetheless, whatever plans he had afterwards were shattered when the war began.

Moving from city to city was no longer a safe option. Any customer interest in fine ceramics and porcelain were tossed into the back burner as fear and conflict blistered to staggering heights. The Sheerloft business, after generations of flourish, was squandered like an ant beneath the heel of a boot. Finances were initially stable, as the family had a hefty sum left in their savings from their lucrative profits, but it soon waned and left them in a desperate abyss. When Anton turned 16, one, and only thing good thing came out of this misery--it forced the Sheerlofts to view the world through fresh lenses and appreciate one another. Like a real family. Slowly, but ever so surely, Anton's family began to sympathize and care for him; it was because of this change that he finally felt secure enough to admit that he felt useless. As if he had no real purpose in life.

They all encouraged him to transfer to Celsius Academy. Anton still had no real goal in mind, but his family had hopes that this new chapter in his life would place him on the right path towards something meaningful. Of course, acceptance would be difficult and expensive to obtain, but the Sheerlofts had taken a huge chunk out of their remaining funds to help. Fortunately, Anton got into Celsius Academy, the lingering prestige of the Sheerloft name in the business world playing a huge role in it. As a parting gift and congratulations, Anton's father gave him his luck clay hunting sandals. His father rarely wore them unless he was in frantic need of finding a clay pit, which they had never failed to do for him in the past. However, with the business no longer active and Anton moving on the Celsius Academy, he believed the sandals were better off in Anton's possession. The teen had accepted them gratefully and promised to think of his family every time he wore them.

He arrived to Celsius Academy with a burning passion. A fresh start. A new look. A new him. A time to figure out what he truly wanted out of life. But, for now, he was--is--certain of one thing.

He and his loved ones will survive this war.

Theme Song - "Bare" by WILDES

Accepted as well!

Basics
Name:
Kaito Kuroyuki
Age: 17
Birthday: February 11th, 1998
Gender: Male
Sexuality: He's still figuring it out
Power: Metal
Occupation: Student, 2nd year

School Information
Room Number:
Boys' dorm room 5
House: (Not too sure, could I perhaps get some suggestions?)
Electives: Hand to hand combat, Sword fighting
Clubs: Book club (member)
Sports: Gymnastics (member)

Appearance
Hair:
Kaito has ridiculously messy black hair that puffs up to all sides and has somewhat of a wave to it. Uneven locks wall over his face, though only a few long enough to get in his eyes, and no matter how many times he tucks them behind his ears, only one or two strands actually stay there for more than a second.

Likes:
Any kind of creative process that forces him to think and/or allows him to express himself through his handiwork;
Very old type of music – it brings back good memories and generally he finds it more relatable than the newer enthusiasm filled sounds. He's also pretty fond of guitars, although he can enjoy any kind of instrument;
Taste of metal – it is quite rare to see him without an iron nail rolling between his lips and it's just a generally comforting taste. He picked the habit up while ago and yes, he's well aware it' a weird one;
The perfect weather: the skies are cloudy, but it isn't raining, there's a soft wind and the temperature is down. If only it stayed like that forever;
Travelling – he is extremely curious about the rest of the world. He wants to see, smell and feel everything the word can offer, but does so cautiously, since dying isn't on that list.

Dislikes:
Hot weather – he finds the temperature unbearable and hard to cope with (guess working as a blacksmith didn't rise his tolerance for heat). It leaves him drenched in sweat – a fact that disgusts him and anyone that catches a whiff of his odour;
Taller girls – quite a few have teased him before or made him otherwise feel uncomfortable, so he does tend to avoid them when he can;
Onions – because his eyes do not approve of their cruel ways;
People invading his privacy behind his back – he enjoys writing stuff down in a journal, which is private and thus shouldn't be seen by anyone's eyes, but his;
Other people messing around his creative space without his permission, or even worse – cleaning it up. Seriously, it's not cool.

Hobbies:
Writing something between poetry and song lyrics – for him, it is a way to reflect on his actions and experiences. The things he writes down might not be considered a work of art, but he enjoys the process. However he would rather die than show anyone the stuff he comes up with;
Collecting furs and feathers – he always has an eye out for something new to add to his ever growing collection that he uses to fancy up his clothing. There is something about their patterns and softness that he finds very hard to resist;
Admiring swimmers – swimming is a sport he sees as majestic and incredible, so he likes to watch swimmers perform. However when he's in the water himself, he feels like a cow on ice, even if he's actually a good swimmer;
Messing around with trinkets and other technological shenanigans – he has a knack for finding his way around new machinery and few things can rival his interest in it, making it is his go-to hobby whenever he's bored as well as a talent;
Sewing – while he couldn't make anything from complete scratch (like a basket full yarn, tread and wool) he can stitch together already existing pieces, decorate them or do a simple patch job. Just don't expect anything really fancy – it will never look as good as new.

Strengths:
Dedicated – if he set out to do a thing, he will follow it through;
Creative – he can up with the weirdest things on the spot;
High stamina – it takes a while to wear him down;
Flexible – he can use anything he has on hand as a weapon and can quickly change tactics.

Weakness:
Short-tempered – when faced with insults he has a lot of trouble keeping a cool head;
Forgetful – things just slip his mind, like, all the time;
Overconfident – he knows things he's good at and can take that to extremes, which come back to bite him in the butt;
Lackluster weapon skills – he never trained with any kind of weapon preferring improvisation, leaving quite the gap in his combat knowledge;
Foul play – most of his combat skills come from the street and old habits make it hard for him to fight in a formal setting.

Fears:
Kaito is afraid of thunder, because he views it as an unstoppable phenomena you can't predict, influence nor escape. The sound of it makes him slightly uneasy, but seeing it flash somewhere near him when he didn't expect it can seriously freak him out;
He doesn't fair well with animals of any kind, including birds and insects. He finds them annoying and hard to understand. As long as they leave him alone, he won't do anything, but if they come too close he might get aggressive. If he had to pick the worst one, it would be dogs. Don't be surprised if he starts going off in a completely different direction when he sees one or hides. He is just not dealing with that drolly, sharp-toothed, growling flea-bag;

Is anyone interested in their character having a bond of some sorts with either Anton or Bridget? Friendship? Rivalry? Etc?

I've been thinking and i've decided I'm dropping out, i get it's a small school and such but without more variety, I'll get bored best of luck to those in the rp.

Hey everyone. I'm creating a series of messages that separate our characters into the clubs as that is a quick way for us to get some basic interactions down upon a shared basis. I've also grouped the teachers together. For those characters who are not in clubs, or any other things, I'll have pmed you directly. If you are still in the RP and have not been messaged by me, please let me know! This is to help avoid blowing up this forum with crisscrossing talking that makes it difficult to follow any conversation. I also encourage everyone contact our clubless people so we can get some good old fashioned basis relationships.

Hi Mobley! I think Sophie and Bridget could be good friends. Sophie's power centers around plants, so she will appreciate Bridget's care for the environment. Both seem to be more introverted girls who tend toward one-on-one conversation or alone time rather than large group interactions. Sophie is 14 but fairly mature for her age due to having to take care of her mom after her dad's passing, so an older female friend would likely mesh well with her. Also, since Bridget tends to bottle her thoughts and feelings, Sophie's curiosity could help bring her out of her shell.

I think Rene and Bridget would know each other from baseball. They seem like the type who would be able to just sit in comfortable silence with each other for a long time (as long as she's been meditating normally)

! ! ANNOUNCEMENT ! !

Alright everyone here's what's going on.

1.) So, I need a co-gm. Someone willing to plot story with me. While I know what I want to happen there are still somethings I need to work out and because I sometimes lack creativity it would be great if I had someone to bounce ideas off of. Now, I'm extremely picky about what I want and also indecisive as hell. Anyway if you think you can help me out and are willing to take over in my time of absences that would be great!

2.) Start date. Okay, now I know it has been a while since I said it would be soon that we start but, things came up and I haven't had much time online. But! my schedule has cleared up and I should be able to finish up my characters today or tomorrow. After I finish my characters I will start working on the first post. Which will be like an almost novel sized post as I will be going over orientation, sorting of the first year(I'll explain in a second about sorting), and the letter.

3.) Sorting! Okay so similar to Harry Potter there is a sorting of sorts that goes on during orientation. McMurry will give a speech and while this is going on the new students will hear a voice in there head. It will ask a few questions and after will whisper a house name in your head. That is the house you are placed into. I'll get into sorting a bit more in the first post.

4.) First post. Okay, the first post will include all my characters...all 4...so many xD Anyway, in this post it will explain what everyone is doing, what is whispered into the first year's heads(Rosalie is a first year), the letter in the Head Mistresses office, as well as a few other things.

5.) Teachers. Since it doesn't seem like anyone else is going to be a teacher I'm making the rest of them NPC's. These NPC's will be revealed once I make them :p You can still make a teacher even after I've made the NPC's. They are essentially placeholders for other people if they choose to join.

That's all! Please rate this post so I know you have read through everything. Thank you lovelies and see you soon :D
