Caught by the Tale

Kanata bristled at the others words.
Not so much that he was to not be up but to the fact that he could not tend his own steed.
The young man's eyes narrowed and he carefully stood in front of the bed.
"I am not so weak that I will disregard my mount.
It is no others' business but my own to see to her care."
Well, little buttface had a heart after all...Too bad Ajax wasn't his mount....hehehe.

"Move aside prince Ajax."
The words were calm but not very friendly.
He wanted to see Mirari, now.

Ajax was really hating how stubborn this guy was.
First it was about what Ajax was to do-
Then to get the soldiers to comply to getting off his turf-
Which they didn't under Makari's orders.
And now this-
Kanata being stubborn about if he gets to tend to Mirari or not.
Ha, fat chance.

Ajax narrowed his eyes.
"You are going to get back in bed and stay there until I say...
Or we can go with my brother's idea and go ahead and throw you and your horse into the dungeon."

Kanata blinked, surprised at the others' words.
He was a prince, yes, but so was Kana and Kana was definitely older.
And there was about fifty different things he wanted to tell the kid to shove up his backside but he actually held his tongue.
Props to you prince Kanata.

Well, after a good long staredown Kana slowly sat back down in bed, then got under the covers.
Um...wow, he was definitely tired now that he was actually laying down again with a full stomach.
I think he....yeah.
Totally out cold and snoring.

(gonna be packing all day won't be on much.)

(Okiedokie)

Hm. Good.
Ajax didn't feel like messing with the jerk at the moment.
He turned and left the room, instructing that Kanata was not to leave the room until further notice.
Now...Let's go see if Ajax can tend to Mirari without having bones broken.

Heading down to the stables, Ajax fetched some apples from the kitchen, along with some carrots.
He's seen a horse or two who seemed to like them, so maybe he'll be lucky with this horse.
He approached the stall Mirari was being kept in.
"Mirari...Want some carrots...? Or an apple...? Kanata sent me to tend to you while he naps..." Yeah, doubting the horse understands him, but oh well.

The horse turned towards the entrance before Ajax even appeared.
He was stamping his foot, ears forward, and tail lashing about in apprehension.
It was never away from Kanata for very long and with his master harmed he wanted to see him.
Yes, the horse was smarter than usual.
However, at the mention of apples his attention was slightly won.

The large stallion moved its head over the side of its stall.
Did someone say apples?
Maybe we can work something out...

Ajax wasn't really that big of an expert on horse-
He knew they required brushing, lots of hay, and water...
That was pretty much all he knew, which is why he doesn't have a horse.

He notice something he said had caught Mirari's attention.
"Eh? Something I said you liked...?"
He looked at the food he had and held up one of the apples.
"It was the apples, wasn't it?"
Careful when giving the horse an apple, Ajax. Could bite off a finger.

Oh yes, most definitely could and probably will try his best to do so.
The horse saw the apple and neighed loudly, his hoof kicking the door nearly off its hinges.
Yeah, totally wasn't a very patient horse.
I wouldn't get too close to that gate but then again, you better give him those apples or your gonna make one hell of an enemy.

Perhaps it would be better to let Kanata tend to the stallion.
Might end up with a few less bones on your Ajax.

Well...That wasn't very nice.
A bit startled, Ajax held up an apple.
"Easy now...You want the apple? Here's the apple..."
Yeah, Mirari scared the crap out of Ajax...mostly because the horse was just scary.

"You can have all the apples if you let me brush you..."
You're going to get bit...

The horse watched the apple as well as the one presenting it.
He wasn't stupid and wanted to make sure this idiotic midget of a human knew that as well.
In fact, the second the apple was close enough he actually waited.
When he had a few extra inches he lunged forwards, biting the boys fingers before coming away with the entire apple.
Backing up his stall Mirari crunched the apple hungrily in his mouth, whipping his tail about like a dog who'd just played a prank on another.

That's what you get stupid human.

Ajax yelped when his fingers were bit, waving his hand.
I don't know why, he just did- seriously, waving your hand is not going to make the pain go away.
He then fixated Mirari with a glare.
"Oh, so you wanna play it that way, huh? I'll show you!"
Next thing the boy did was climb up on the door and then leaped at the horse.

Yes, he was very stupid.

Oh no he didn't!!

Mirari bucked the second Ajax jumped on him.
The poor idiot best hold on tight because the horse was going crazy in his stall.

All of the guards came over and tried to get a rope on the mustang but with its non-stop bucking there was no chance to even open the door.
The large dark horse was kicking at anything it could manage which, for now, was just the door and stall walls.
Though each rattled with the impact, threatening to give way.

Ajax was forced to hang on for dear life.

If he were to let go now, he'd be crushed under the bucking horse.
Which could mean death or severe injuries.

It was frightening, being on the back of the bucking animal.
He was screaming in fear- or so he thought, as he couldn't hear over the roar of his blood in his ears.
All he wanted to do was show he could handle things himself...But this? He could get himself killed doing this...

Well, good job at showing you could 'handle' things.
It was several minutes later that real help actually came in the form of Kanata.
He looked like he was sleep walking almost but his eyes were dead focused on Mirari.
Pacing right past the guards who were basically being useless he opened the gate and grabbed the large stallion's mane.
With an abrupt yank and "STOP!" Mirari suddenly dropped back down to four feet and snorted once, his tantrum seemingly ceased.

"Good boy" Kana said quickly, his hand coming up to rub the horses muzzled.
then he was kneeling down just long enough to hand the horse an apple.
Mirari bit at the fruit gently, just barely taking off a bite, not even brushing Kanata's fingers.
"There we go, nothing bad is going to happen."

When the horse had stopped bucking, Ajax rolled off it's back, landing with a crunchy thump on the straw on the ground.
None of the guards moved forward to get him out of the stall-
They wished not to scare the horse and cause it to hurt their prince.
So the boy just laid there for a moment before heaving himself up, using the stall wall as a support.

Gods, he felt sick...
Another reason he didn't have a horse-
When they moved around too much or too fast with him on its back...
He ends up sick to his stomach. How sick?
Just look at the vomit he coughed up onto the ground and partly on himself. That answer your question?

It sure does!
Kanata gave Mirari the rest of the apple before looking over at Ajax.
He was really disgusting and had gotten some of his vomit on the boy as well.
"Best to remove your shirt and give it to your pathetic guards to wash.
If you would like to learn how to handle a horse correctly you may stay and watch but I WILL be tending to my steed while I am here."
With that he walked out of the stall and Mirari actually stayed where he was even with the stall door open.

A few moments later Kanata returned with a pale of water and a brush.
Then he got busy cleaning off Mirari, the horse neighing happily as if it really enjoyed the scrubbing.
Which it did.

Ajax will just cling to the wall right now.
He didn't want to move-
Partly because he thought he was going to vomit again, and partly because he had enough with moving for the moment.
Yes, he smelled foul from his one puke, but hey, it could be worse.
One of his guards offered to pull him up and over the stall wall-
He waved the man off.

I really...
Hate horses now...
Yeah, Mirari won't be getting any apples from Ajax anytime soon.

Mirari snorted happily once Kanata had finished cleaning and brushing him.
He looked much better after a good cleaning but Kana didn't.
Though you could tell he was much happier now that Mirari was.
In fact. I think the horse is a bit too happy.
It walked over to Ajax and nuzzled his arm lightly, then looked back at Kanata.
"Um...yeah. You're gonna want this off."
He quickly yanked off Ajax's shirt, keeping the puke inside it mostly before tossing it out of the stall door..
Mirari was kneeling slightly before the two boys and Kanata knew what it meant...no getting out of it.
He lifted Ajax in one swift movement onto the horses back.
"He doesn't take no for an answer..."

Then the horse was moving.
It wasn't fast in the least and the ride was actually much unlike any other horse.
Mirari moved so fluidly that even at a trot you would feel almost no bouncing, even bareback.

Ajax didn't notice when Kanata had finished brushing Mirari-
Until his arm was nuzzled by the darn horse.
He spared it a glance-
Ugh, his shirt was taken...And it's cold out here!
He muttered that he could have wiped it off...
But it was said in such a low voice that not even he himself heard it.
His head reeled when he was suddenly lifted off the ground and put on the one thing he didn't want to be on-
The horse's back.

The ride was surprisingly not as bumpy as the bucking he went through, even at a trot.
But he kept his eyes closed and a good grip on the horse's mane.
Now would not be the time to pass out, Ajax.

Kanata noticed that Mirari was heading for the barn exit and seeing as the guards were running aside having seen the previous bucking they weren't going to try and stop him.
Good choice...
However, it was rather cold outside and he'd just taken the prince's shirt.
After a moment of thought Kana grabbed a big horse blanket and bolted after Mirari.
He swung up at a run, actually landing behind the boy using the horse's mane.
Landing behind Ajax he quickly wrapped the soft blanket around the boy before wrapping his left arm around his waist to hold on just enough.

The younger prince didn't notice that the other had swung up behind him.
He was actually lolling a bit, his motion sickness leaving him tired after having expelled stomach content.
The blanket just kept him from shivering like crazy.
And if Kanata hadn't wrapped his arm around his waist, he would have fallen off by now.

Guards called for Kanata to stop his horse or else.
I would just ignore them- they're too protective and stupid to do anything.
