Caught by the Tale

Kanata rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Yeah, let me get right on that.
Not.
I haven't eaten in nearly two days, basically, I have no energy left."
Looking over at the only table in the place he walked up to it, starting to sort through bags and what not.
"You got any food in here?
If I could get maybe a loaf of bread or something I could move it." Then he'd probably pass out but oh well, better then losing his life in here.
He let the fire kid take care of the cot since that was his department.

"There's some venison in the crate over there."
Ajax pointed to a crate that was in the corner by the big chair he had sat in.
"It's salted though and probably very tough.
But as far as I know, that's it...
There was some fruit but the cold got to it and turned it blackish green.
Was pretty gross."
Wonder what fruit it was... Probably bananas.
Do they even have bananas?

Yeah they probably did.
Keral probly not though.
Kanata went over to the crate and quickly tore off a big pieces of dried meat.
It definitely wasn't something he wanted nor ate often but oh well.
Better than getting stuck with no oxygen.
The young man quickly tore into the food, tearing off nasty pieces and chewing just enough to get it to go down.
About ten bites in he headed over to the door and held his hands up to the door.
"Ah....there we go...I can feel it."
Clenching his hands slightly he got a feel for the snow on the other side of the door.
"Now...when I do this don't set my hair on fire..."
Why did he say this?
Because after he moved the snow and cleared it from the door he promptly fell backwards, out cold.

Like Ajax would do that when he wanted out of here.
And might as well have some venison too.
Mmm~ Tasty.
Okay, now about the door...
Ajax watched the other do whatever he just did and let me tell you...
It was confusing.
Especially like how he did that through the door.
And oh snit he's falling!
Some random instinct had Ajax diving at the floor, where he slid and stopped just behind Kanata-
And he is winded as the other pretty much landed on him...
Broke his fall at least.

The door slid open slowly from a strong gust of wind, revealing that the large mound of snow in front of it that had been shoved forward several feet.
Kanata was out cold for the moment but he does thank you for cushioning the fall.
Totally would have had a knot on his head like Ajax for that.
Mirari was suddenly at the door, neighing loudly and pawing at the ground anxiously.
Gimme my master back!
Horse speak, of course.

Meeeeh, Kanata, why do you have to be a heavy adult?!
Ajax squirmed in an attempt to get out from under the Keralian, but it was useless.
Oh great, grumpy horse.
"Oh go lick salt." snapped Ajax.
He was glad that the door was opened-
But pissed that he was being squished by an unconscious Keralian.

Guards arrived moments later and lifted the boy easily off Ajax.
Tossing Kanata to the side they helped their prince up.
"Are you alright, prince Ajax?"

Mirari was getting really upset but he was tethered quickly and removed from in front of the door so the guards could get in and rebind Kana.
"Prince, we need to get him back to the castle.
If the other king sends troops we will be at greater war over this boy.
We must get him back soon!"

Hooray for the over reacting cavalry.
At least Ajax wasn't being squished by Kanata.
"I'm fine...And I doubt the Keralian king will mind Kanata's absence for a few days...
But if you insist then just tether him to his horse and send the darn thing on its way. I'm sure it can find its home."

The soldiers nodded and set off to do so.
Ajax rolled his eyes, muttering that soldiers were idiots sometimes.
And soon Mirari and Kanata were sent on their way and so was Ajax- one of Makari's boys had him carried off in the same manner as Kana. Darn.

Mirari was glad to have his master back and set off in the direction they had come.
The only problem?
He was turned around once a blizzard hit and ended up crossing back over into enemy territory.
It took the horse about four days to wander close enough for a soldier to notice.
The man quickly caught the skinny stallion and brought it to the castle with its master still tied upon its back.
Mirari was very hesitant and hungry but allowed the man to lead her up into the castles courtyard, then stopped, not wanting to move any further as it saw grass not covered in snow.
Yeah, totally nomming on that.

Ajax had been well set to his usual life by the time the fourth day had rolled by.
When questioned of where he had been, he said that he had ran off at the sign of fire.
He later explained it was his fault, but only told the king. He could never tell that to Makari.
He had more magic lessons than usual, but other than that he just stayed in his room...
Until that fourth day.
He saw the horse...He saw the Keralian...
He ran down to meet up with the soldier, ordering him to bring the horse to the stables and the man to one of the guest quarters.
Which the soldier did after convincing Mirari to move along.

Kanata was put up in the guest room and covered in several blankets.
The horse was a bit harder to manage.
Mirari got to the stall after kicking several soldiers in the chest.
However, when he saw the giant bale of straw his he bolted in, nomming away happily.

The soldiers finished setting the boy and horse up before reporting to Ajax.
Except...they couldn't find the boy, soooo Makari got the report?
Uh oh?

Yeah...big uh-oh.
"What do you mean, there is a Keralian in the castle?!" questioned the new heir.
"Is he under lock and key?! Did you leave him on his own?!"

Basically the heir threw a fit and demanded that they throw Kanata into the dungeon.
However, the Keralian will not be going there as that is when Ajax showed up, having over heard his brother.
"You will do no such thing, brother. The Keralian is my guest and you will not disturb him." snapped Ajax.
That said, the young prince had the informer escort him to Kanata. He must see how the man fairs as he had last seen him unconscious four days prior.

Kanata didn't look to well but surprisingly he was awake.
Not up, but awake.
The boy was under a mound of blankets that had been layered on by guards.
He was blinking slowly as if not fully awake, which was the truth.
Kana was starving and trying to defrost under the heat of the blankets.
When the door opened and Ajax came in the man's head slowly turned but recognition wasn't quite there yet.

Hm...This will not do- this is not how guest should look like!
Ajax turned to one of the people who had followed him.
"Fetch something for my guest to eat- and bring some drink as well."
The person scurried off- as did the other people except guards who were staying put out side the room.
Good...Ajax went over to the bed side peering down at Kanata.
"Are you alright...?" he asked- Yes, he knew it was Kanata, but he was going to pretend that they never met before.

Kanata watched and listened silently.
He didn't understand a lot of what was being said the sounds just blurring in one ear and out the other.
When Ajax came over the boy's head slowly shifted up and he blinked sleepily.
"Alright..."
He mumbled, turning again when someone came back into the room with food and water.
When the container of water was pressed to his lips he drank nonstop, eager to down the whole thing if allowed.

(g2g)

Which he was, even if he was a bloody git...
Honestly, you could expect being out that long if he had hit his head on the ground, but no-
He hit his head on Ajax's back, which, by the way, still hurts like a mothergrubber.
But that's not important.
What was important was that Ajax saw to Kanata's- and please don't think Ajax is totally a girl for this-
But see to...Kanata's nursing back to health! Dun nuh nun nu-nun-nuuuuh! Or something like that.

(cya)

It wasn't so much the fall as it was the lack of food.
He'd used all his energy to move the mass of snow to free them.
Then when Ajax had tied him to his horse and they got stuck in the weather he couldn't wake up.
It was like a Kanata Popsicle for awhile.
When he finished the entire canteen of water the guard went to fetch another but Kana's eyes were now on the tray of food brought in moments ago.
Mmmm...chicken and bread with butter.

The young man was sitting up slowly, arms reaching out for the platter hungrily.

Which was given to him.
Hm...Perhaps he should have been escorted home...
But then again, the soldiers weren't fond of helping Keralians as they're suppose to be going against them.
So tough luck there, I suppose.
Ajax asked one of the guards if they had any good news of Kanata's horse.
Apparently she'd be fine but she was too underfed for travel.
Looks like Kanata was stuck here for a few days.

The young prince looked at Kanata. "Prince Kanata? I was given some news...
Your horse, Mirari? She's too underfed for travel...So until she is fit, I'm afraid you're stranded here."

The prince was stuffing his face, his behavior nothing likt that of his liniage.
He didn't seem to pay much attention to what the other was saying until Ajax mentioned his horse.
Eyes flicking up to the other prince, Kanata waited and listened, a frown forming on his face at the mention of Mirari being underfed.
"I will wait as long as needed for him to recover fully. I would also like to tend to him since his temperment is farely poor with strangers."

Ajax crossed his arms.
"You will do no such thing- You yourself are underfed and probably dehydrated as well.
The only thing you re going to do is rest. Is that clear?" he snapped in a no-nonsense tone.
The people behind Ajax backed off in fear.
Guess he scares people sometimes...
So, what says Kanata the Keralian prince?
Say he nay to Prince Ajax?
