Caught by the Tale

The king raised a brow at Ajax but dismissed himself, feeling that his son could handle the other just fine.
Once they were both clothed he grabbed the others' hand and dragged him back through the castle.
Kanata was still really hungry but he had to do what his father said first.
Tch. Kid was more trouble than he was worth!
Well, at least to Kanata.

So, once again both boys were up on Mirari, bounding through the frigid air of a snowstorm starting up.
Perfect.
"This better happen fast!"
He made it to the edge of their territory within about thirty minutes, looking around to see where the enemies camp was located.
All he had to do was show that he had the boy hostage and they should retreat.
Hopefully.
Now, just to find the darn camp!

More dragging along?!
Whyyyyy? All you had to do is tell him to follow!
Jerk...I wish you luck with your future wife...
And Ajax hopes she'll kick Kanata's ass.
Just because...meh.

Gaaaah!!
Why does it have to get colder?!
Ajax was shivering off the bat-
But despite the snow storm, he knew where they were.
"L-let me off this beast!" he growled, teeth chattering a lot.
He was already trying to dismount, but he was terrible at this horse riding business.
I think he wants to go get lost in this semi blizzard.

"You are not so smart. Dismounting here could mean death if I leave you behind.
Especially in this weather."
"Where is your camp supposed to be located?"
Well, that probably wasn't a good thing to ask an enemy but oh well.
He needed to get this done.
All he had to do was show the kid to the enemy, then run back to the castle on Mirari.
Kanata didn't think the kid had the brains to send him into a trap.
He probably would just want to get away from him.

"I'm trying to find the camp, you whoreson...
But if you really want to find the camp that bad then just yell-"
Sucks in a breath!
"For Suhrandur and the River King!"
Just moments after Ajax yelled, lights appeared just up ahead.
First just one...then ten...
Lights kept appearing until a wide field was illuminated before them.
Someone called loudly from the camp.
"Who are you, citizen of Suhrandur, and what business do you wish to conduct in this storm?"
Ajax looked over his shoulder and stuck his tongue out at Kanata.

Kanata leered at the boy's screams.
When there was actually a response though it surprised him.
He leaned back slightly as the kid turned, sticking his tongue out.
Oh yea?
Leaning forward Kanata bit Ajax's tongue before kicking his horse into a slow trot.
A moment later he could see the camp and stalled his horse about fifteen yards away.
They should be able to see the boy now so no need to get any closer and risk attack.
"My name is Kanata of Keral and I have prince Ajax.
If you wish for his safety then you shall halt your advances and return to Suhrandur and leave this land!"

Ow! Jerk...
Ajax whimpered, looking miserable with his hurt tongue.
One soldier appeared from his tent, most likely the leader.
"You lie.
Prince Ajax is dead-
He died fighting beside Tritanion the Strong.
Whoever you have is probably some peasant.
Go back and hide in your castle, Keralian, and take the peasant with you-
Go now, and perhaps we won't run a pike through you three."
Ajax felt insulted that he was to be thought as a peasant, but said nothing to defend himself-
The safety and victory of his people came first.

"Insolent little..."
Kanata seethed at the insult.
Who would jest about something so important?!
He kicked his horse forward bringing it several more yards closer to the camp, about five yards from the pikeman.
"Witness, soldier.
His clothes are burned from the fire of the last battle and he also holds the crest of your fallen prince as his brother!"
Kana grabbed the boy and yanked him nearly half off the horse so he could get a good look.
Then pulled him back into the saddle.
"Now stand down and remove your army from this land or this will be the second prince to fall from your kingdom!"

Ajax did not agree to being little show and tell-
Especially if he had to be yanked around.
But despite being yanked around, he hid the insignia that he had been carrying.
He was so going to get his ass handed to him later...
The soldier narrowed his eyes.
"Peasants burn their clothing all the time-
And what crest to you speak of? I see none!
Away with you, crazed Keralian, before we force you to leave under pike and arrow point!"
Ajax really wanted to go home-
But if he had to be coy for the moment and wait a long while...
So be it.

There would be no more waiting!!
Kanata slid from his horse and yanked the insignia out of the boy's hiding place.
Then he threw it at the stupid soldier with a snarl.
"You are DAFT!"
Grabbing Ajax's hair he yanked his head back once more, pressing a frigid blade to his throat.
"You think I would waste my time coming out here in a blizzard if I were not serious?!
You think me a fool?!"

He shook the boy by his hair angrily, pressing the blade further, nicking the skin and starting a line of blood.
"Call. Off. Your. Troops!"
Well, his move might have been smart but he'd gotten off his horse and it wasn't easy mounting one quickly with a hostage.

Ajax tried to stop Kanata from taking away the insignia.
In fact, he would have hurried to retrieve it-
But his head was yanked back, causing him to yelp.
He shivered at the frigid blade against his throat.
Gods, why didn't he just show the insignia right off the bat in the first place?! If he had, he wouldn't be in this mess!
Oh gods...what was going down his neck...? Blood...?

The soldier pulled out a dagger and a short sword.
"You dare harm a child...? You are but one man with one hostage-
I have here twenty score more than you at my back!
Drop the blade or your life is mine, you lowly Keralian!"

Kanata's focus was dead forward as the other finally started to catch on.
"I don't think so!
How about you retreat your forces, then we can talk about getting your prince back?!"
He knew he was out numbered but hopefully they would listen to him in order to save their prince.

"My patience runs low, do as I command or I will slay this boy and be back to my home before you can do nary anything!"
Kanata was getting really tired and REALLY cold so this better happen fast or he was gonna have to bring the kid back to the castle or kill him.
He'd rather not disappoint his father by slaying the boy but he must do what he must do.

Ajax was shivering in an unhealthy manner.
I don't think it was smart to leave him in cold climates.
Whatever happens, better happen quick, damn it all!

The soldier grumbled, then called up two more soldiers.
"We'll discuss your terms in one of the tents under a momentary truce.
Harm Prince Ajax further more and all terms will be terminated.
Do you agree to this, Kanata of Keral, or are you wanting to just freeze in the snow?"

Well, that was more like it.
"I agree to your terms."
He gratefully loosened his hold on the boy's hair, dropping his injured hand to his side.
The burn hadn't even been tended to yet and thus was a bright pink and starting to peal everywhere.
It hurt like a mother...

Leaving the knife loosely at Ajax's throat he walked forward, forcing the boy to do the same.
As the soldier lead them inside he followed, ducking into a tent and sighing as the harsh elements were left outside.
"Now then. Speak your terms and I will consider them."
Of course he wasn't letting the boy go, definitely not in the middle of the enemy's camp.

Ajax wished he could just push the blade away-
It was uncomfortably cold and already hurt him.
Evil blade...very evil...
But he had no say in anything at the moment, so he'll deal with it.

"We will agree to return to our land in return for Prince Ajax.
But this has no effect on this war...
Are terms agreed?" asked the soldier.
To try and make this seem like it's not a hostile situation, the soldier offer hot refreshments-
After all, it was bloody cold outside.

(Sorry bout that, friend bugging me)

Kanata thought over the offer silently.
It wasn't what his father wanted but it was something...
But that would have them lose Ajax...though one prince was already proven dead...
After another few moments he slowly nodded, releasing the boy as he moved his blade and tucked it back into it's sheath.
Without thinking he took the cup of hot liquid, sipping at it to try and stave off the cold.
He might be able to control water but his temperature was pretty sensitive.

(np)

Ajax almost sighed in relief at finally being released.
Out of harms way...for the moment.
And as much as he wanted to guzzle down the hot drink...
He could not because of his throat. Daaaaarn...
The soldier nodded.
"I appreciate your cooperation, Kanata of Keralian. Would you like an escort back to your castle?"

Kanata finished off the drink with a content sigh.
Man, that felt so much better.
To the question he quickly shook his head.
"Thank you for the offer but I shall be fine on my own."
Standing he nodded to the soldier and ducked out of the tent.
Whistling he saw Mirari far in the distance and motioned her to come to him.

Now he just had to return to the castle and report to his father.
Alls well that ends well...

Yeah...not really.
Eh heh...

Just as Kanata passed about the second row of tents, he was surround.
"Stay where you are!" shouted a soldier.
Yes, I know this is going to be like 'fffffffff' moment, but bear with me.
"Drop your weapons!"
And now Mirari was surrounded by horse handlers.
I don't think Kanata will be leaving...

They had been fooling with him?!
Kanata bristled as he was surrounded.
His teeth ground together in anger as he watched all the soldiers around him.
The neigh of his startled horse caught his attention and he tried to get through the group, only to be shoved back.
"We had a deal! How dare you go back on such a thing!!"
He was angry as hell but his life was more important then arguing so he did indeed drop his two swords and knife into the snow.
The wind in the area had picked up greatly, whipping his shoulder-length blue hair around.

(going zzz)

Someone gave the command to grab Kanata-
In moments, the Keralian prince was bound with twine.
He was then dragged along to a cabin on the Suhrandur side of the camp.
He was practically thrown in and had the door slammed closed behind him.
Guess whose in there~
Ajax, who was sipping at some cooled refreshments.
"Glad to see you could drop in, Prince Kanata." he said in a tone that was almost mockingly proper.
A little bandage was on his neck were he was nicked by Kana's knife.

"It appears the tables have turned and you are now my prisoner. Yes, I ordered for your capture. And fret not about your mare- even if we rarely ride horses, we a very kind to them."
