Name:
Her true name is hardly the sort that one would speak aloud.
It isn't phonetic, after all.
Nobody's name was, back in the world that she came from.
Phonetics were for the less sophisticated creatures, after all.
But, in her current environs, it seems that nobody is sophisticated.
Everyone talks just like the animals do.
So, in an effort to better fit in, she calls herself: Ylluliryn
But most people just call her: The Foreigner Lady
Appearance:
She's a mature, but emaciated lady in her early-to-mid twenties.
Despite her evident malnourishment(~95 lbs at 5'1"), she looks relatively fit.
She has black hair, which is tied up in a ponytail that's haphazardly chopped short.
Her green, bespectacled eyes are constantly glancing around at various things, as if in anticipation of an ambush.
She has a determined expression, but not an especially hopeful one.
Through the filth and grime that she's unsuccessfully attempted to wipe off countless times, her skin is fair-hued, with only a few scattered scars.
Her clothes are heavily damaged, and a bit too small for her - clearly scavenged.
She wears them with the same attempted orderliness that one might recognize from a nervous military recruit.
And, above all else, there's a mysteriousness to her that isn't easily communicable through words - a sort of otherworldliness, or lack of belonging.
Some might consider this 'strangeness' disarming, while others might perceive it as a sort of allure.
Here's a picture of what she'd look like if you were to encounter her on one of her trips through the shanties of the Refuge(without glasses):
Personality:
Under most circumstances, she maintains a professional mannerism, but she'll still play along with other people's eccentricities.
She's used to trying to not stand out in social situations, and prefers to end them as quickly and peaceably as possible.
Beneath her public persona, she's a bubbly, fun-loving girl who wants to get into all sorts of mischief and sate her unending river of curiosities.
But she's had quite a few bad experiences from acting that way, so she tries to keep that side of herself tightly bound away.
She's also never been blessed with a "normal" relationship with anyone, so she has quite a few trust issues.
Ideally, she'd spend all of her days nestled into a comfy bit of furniture, reading technical manuals and books about magic from her home world.
However, her circumstances usually aren't so lenient, so instead, she spends most of her time training, practicing, and studying until she's too exhausted to continue.
There's a powerful, yearning for something buried deep within her heart - something that starts to emerge whenever someone treats her well.
But every time it does, it gets agonizingly stomped back down when she inevitably learns of their motives.
She's come to believe that, perhaps, her fate is to just toil and struggle alone, forever.
And...is she really wrong?
I mean, look at where she is now!
Capabilities:
Although she looks human, she is actually something more than that - something a bit more...magical?
Unlike most earth-dwellers, she is capable of using a form of magic which was rather commonplace in her home world.
She has advanced knowledge in dimensional applications, and as much knowledge of offensive and defensive applications as is expected for those of her profession.
Her familiarity with travel and foraging are decent, and she knows how to keep herself alive in relatively-hospitable wildlands.
As far as cooking goes, she doesn't know any techniques, but she can roast meat, boil water, and other basic things like that.
She's been in quite a few street fights in her days, so she's figured out enough about unarmed combat for some basic self-defense.
She's relatively familiar with bows as well, though not as much as a professional archer would.
Since arriving in Earth, she's figured out enough about the local phonetic language to communicate, but she tends to miss a lot of the nuance.
Here's a list of specific abilities and spells that she currently has available:
MP Capacity: 6,560 MP Regeneration: +1.50 per minute MP Throughput Limit: 130 per second
Autonomous Shielding[300 mp]: It generates several potentiating plates that wander the surface of the target's body. When input energy exceeds tolerances, a plate will interpose itself and expend its potentiation to reduce the input energy until it meets tolerance. Expulsive Filter Barrier[400 mp]: It generates a continuous expulsive barrier over the surface of the target's body. When a harmful substance contacts the barrier expels it, preventing contact with the target.
Arbitrary Repositioning[100 mp]: It repositions an entity within range to some other random position. Range limit is proximity-based. Dimensional Anchoring[2,500 mp]: It locks the dimensional continuity of an entity, thereby thwarting most dimension-altering effects that might be used on it, or stabilizing any dimensional alterations that already affect it. Dimensional Bonding[2,000 mp]: It forms a spatial relationship between an entity and another entity, enabling a dimensionalist to target either entity(bypassing range restrictions) as long as either is within range. Dimensional Injection[5,000 mp]: It adds continuous spatial coordinates within a target region, thereby expanding its volume. Directional Repositioning[600 mp]: It repositions an entity to position with limited variance about a target position. Range limit is local. Exact Repositioning[1,500 mp]: It repositions an entity to an exact target position. Range limit is regional.
Infusion Overload[50 mp]: It attempts to infuse raw energy into an entity in a destructive way. Range limit is proximity-based. Position Overlap[75 mp]: It attempts to repositions a held entity to a position which overlaps that of a target entity within range. Range limit is proximity-based.
Backstory:
Those of her kind usually have caring, loving parents who provide several decades of thorough instruction before letting them go independent.
She did not receive the usual treatment - rather, her existence was deemed unacceptable by those in power, so she was abandoned.
She grew up as a shapeless urchin, barely earning enough to keep her pathetic chassis alive.
Even after she accumulated enough mass and experience to work a job, her streetborn status preceded her.
Unwilling to resort to crime, she instead took the hard path, and became a forager.
Foraging was barely better than begging - she had autonomy over her own earnings, but wasn't any safer or less abused because of it.
She somehow survived long enough to purchase education rights, which made her daily routine even harder.
But she persevered, and made it out the other side as a decent magic-user.
She earned a living by providing her magic-usage services to combatants, which was far safer and less uncomfortable.
Eventually, money started to accumulate, and her lifestyle improved considerably.
But right as she was starting to finally recover from a long life of starvation and abuse, disaster struck.
A commission went awry, and her supposed companions decided that she'd make a good decoy to aid in their escape.
The situation was desperate, but she didn't abandon hope - for, right as she was reaching her limit, a coincidence occurred.
Dimensional instability is something that no dimensionalist would ever mess with under normal circumstances.
These circumstances were not normal, so a bit of 'messing with' occurred.
The result?
She was flung to a world even worse off than her own, and she was still in a pretty bad state.
But, at very least, she was in a relatively safe place.
So she rested and recovered.
She scavenged and searched.
She watched the natives, blended in with them, and learned their language.
Eventually, she met Emsix, did a few missions, and started learning to craft things.
She ended up becoming Emsix's porter and escaping with him from The Refuge after the Black Stuff stirred people into a frenzy.
Key Memories:
When some drunkards from the Refuge hit Emsix with a baseball, he got the guards to take care of it instead of immediately retaliating.
Emsix sold her a couple rations and a bunch of really useful language-learning books for only 2 Merch!
Emsix didn't eat her after dragging her down into a pit to hide from a Portal Storm, and even accepted a porter contract from her!
The doctor from the Refuge stirred up a Black Stuff Frenzy to try and hurt Emsix, and a lot of people died as a result.
For REDACTED eyes only Subject M-603
Project: Darwin
Description: Subject has been exposed to very rigorous mutation treatments. Subject can no longer be identified as a baseline human. Subject stands at 7 feet 3 inches tall, covered in a thick plate of sclerotin plates. Subject also exhibits four extra "spider" limbs in tandem with vaguely humanoid arms and legs. Stress testing has shown that the subject's plating is extremely resistant to blunt and cutting trauma, and is even able to resist low-calibre small arms. Subject has four individual compound eyes with which it senses the world, with earholes and normal olfactory glands of a human's. Project History:
Project Darwin was developed by Dr. REDACTED and followed a crude but effective methodology: Survival of the fittest. Subject M-603 is the last surviving member of Project Darwin, scientists included. The trials started with young test subjects (9-15) being exposed to various mutagenic treatments, before being forced into a survival environment with limited resources. Of the REDACTED members, only 15 survived the initial trial.
Dr. REDACTED proceed to take a hands on approach in rearing these subjects: Studying their strengths and weaknesses and putting the subjects through rigorous stress tests. Various subjects died from the tests. Combat protocols happened afterwards, with Dr. REDACTED opting to train Subject M-603 in a modified form of Muay Thai. The Subject quickly adapted the martial arts into his own form as its mutations became even more exotic.
The Cataclysm saw Subject escape into the wider world, having fought his way to the rooftops of REDACTED and rapelling down with spider webs. Subject has since focused solely on survival, and has taken to the harsh conditions outside quite well
Current Status: ALIVE
Location: Magallory Plantation
Sanity: Optimal Skillset: Subject has taken to learning various crafts after the Cataclysm. Subject's primary focus is still combat skills and in-depth tailoring, but having branched out to various disciplines to ensure survival in isolation. Subject shows clear aversion to advanced technologies and prefers to live without building complex electronic infrastructure even when observed to be able to do so.
