[Nemopedia]

I guess I shall make bad decisions now and drop this thread to let everyone know that I'm open to plan something with all of my characters, be it background relationships, or because you want to romance them (the only exception to that one is Garaile). I generally am terrible at pre-established romances, so at your own risk but otherwise I'm pretty much open for anything (except smut). I have written down some ideas for each character, click on their respective squares to find out what the ideas are, or throw up your own unique idea!

Eloise Wellington

Female - 16 - Miss - CS​

Interesting details

◉ Just entered society. This is her first season ever!
◉ But has a bunch of siblings who are out already who she loves to prank.
◉ The more she likes someone the more she will prank them.
◉ Has a small dowry of 3k, giving her 120 per year

Plot Lines

◉ Eloise is anything but shy but also has no interest in marrying yet. She just wants to have fun! But if someone can entice her into a wild adventure she is up for it.
◉ Gravitates towards shy people, there is just something about them that makes her adopt them like stray animals.
◉ Will set up booth in the ballrooms and read anyone's palm and then declare them exceedingly unlucky in their pursuits and love life, unless she is trying to match them.
◉ Loves to write and exchange letters detailing all of the gossip and adventures and wild fantasies about adventures.

Melinda Wellington

Female - 21 - Miss - CS​

Interesting details

Plot Lines

◉ Melinda at this point doesn't believe in marrying for love, even if she envies her parents for that. She just wants to settle down and live a comfortable life, like she is used to now and not have to depend on her dowry.
◉ Been out in society for a while now and must have made some London friends and enemies. Knowing Melinda's personality she probably made a lot of girlfriends (standing up for them) and a lot of male frenemies (insulting them).

Frederick Wellington

Male - 23 - Mr. - CS​

Interesting details

◉ Has a LOT of siblings. Generally known as the clumsiest sibling, probably stepped on the toes of every lady he ever danced with.
◉ Frederick really wants a wife that is unlike his sisters and mother, he just wants a quiet life. But what with his constant need for adventure there really is no such thing. Wouldn't mind a husband either.
◉ Is travelling most of the time.
◉ From his own investments Frederick generally makes about 800 a year, his inheritance is tbd.

Plot Lines

◉ Siblings siblings siblings.
◉ Invests into a lot of (quack) beauty products and sponsors a lot of art and literature as well.
◉ University days: where Frederick has more interest in all courses but the ones that would help him as a baron's son.
◉ Travels abroad frequently in a time where travel was uncommon and costly, but also seen as mostly the endeavour of merchants.

Garaile Scriven

Male - 28 - Mr. / esquire - CS​

Interesting details

◉ His father is a Frenchman and a businessman in wine making 2k a year of which Garaile is the only heir.
◉ His mother is a former infamous beauty of the ballrooms, a daughter of a gentleman, who got pregnant before marrying and was forced to name Garaile's father the baby's father and marry him.
◉ Grew up in an unhappy marriage with absent parents.
◉ Makes 4k a year as a barrister and is set out to inherit 20k (800 - 2k per annum) from his father and an additional 10k (400 a year) from his mother.

Ideas

◉ As a (newly introduced) barrister he meets a lot of cases and has to present a decent amount of cases to court. Perhaps he ever presented something for your character? Such as a divorce case (which were complicated back then and a political affair), a criminal charge, libel case, or perhaps a ton case in which a missus got pregnant before marriage?
◉ A return to his university days where he attended his courses next to his landed peers of the gentry, having to envy their good fortune for their smooth sailings, leading up to the many hours that eventually led to his success.
◉ A step into Garaile's childhood, as the half-blood of a Frenchman as the country is at war and his family still trying to make their fortune.

Warren Roosevelt

Male - 28 - Mr. - CS​

Interesting details

◉ His family made their fortune in slave-trade and father used to be part of the West-Indian Company.
◉ Inherited about 100k at the tender age of fourteen after his parents were murdered.
◉ Used the fortune instead to start a boarding school in his childhood home and to charity, his yearly income now is 2k per annum.
◉ Addicted to laudanum

Ideas

◉ Warren is the principal of the boarding school he runs in his childhood home and usually locks himself up in the attic (school shenanigans?)
◉ Also is still unmarried and rather uninterested, but knows he has to settle somehow and is willing to pitifully take someone in.
◉ Had an extremely happy childhood before the murder of his parents, even if he was surrounded by indentured servants that were abused severely and knew it to be bad.
◉ Released all of the servants his family still held with good recommendation for future job prospects, but also gave them the option and opportunity to work with him with the potential of becoming business partners.

Ondine Fear

Female - 20 - Miss - CS​

Interesting details

◉ Her mother is a commoner that never quite got her reputation back and had to live on the charity of her beau who she blackmailed with Ondine.
◉ Her father is an unnamed Duke after whom she supposedly takes a lot. Ondine has never met the man, but is aware of the blackmail money her mother receives.
◉ Currently employed by Peony Room as a pastry chef, which she honestly loves to do.
◉ Sweet to look at, but with a hint of burnt chocolate. Acts innocent but is very much trying to flirt her way up.

Ideas

◉ Something with her father's Duke family? Like an arranged marriage forced upon her by her father's family to minimise the scandal? Drama drama drama!!!
◉ Very much is trying to get into the upper class, but planning to play it smarter than her mother did who gave herself away and got herself disinherited and now lives on the blackmail of another.
◉ Peony Room colleagues and visitors come forth!!!

August Yilmaz

Male - 24 - Mr. / Sultanzade Yilmaz Bey - CS​

Interesting details

◉ Son of an Ottoman princess and her prince consort, so not in line of the Ottoman throne, but a member of the family making him a sultanzade.
◉ Moved from the Ottoman empire since his pre-teen, early teens.
◉ Currently invested as a scholar interested in physics and astronomy, isn't much interested in high society.
◉ Tries to hide his rank where possible but his friends will never let him live down his official title.

Ideas

◉ Childhood struggles of an August just entering the country and learning the culture and society?
◉ His friends are dumb, give him some smarter friends, pls.

Albert Rosier

Male - 29 - Lord/Duke - CS​

Interesting details

◉ Lost his parents and youngest sister Adelaide in a fire five years prior making him suddenly a duke overnight. Lost his oldest sister Abigail ten years before that in a carriage accident right before the wedding.
◉ The Rosiers were known as conservative back when his father was alive, but Albert drives a different political course.
◉ Vowed to never marry before solving the murder of his family.
◉ His title wasn't the only thing that grew overnight. Many suggest his intellect did so as well as he wasn't studious at all as a child.

Ideas

◉ Murder mystery slash political intrigue within the peerage class involving Nicholas Rosier's (his father) past sins.
◉ Hyper focused and convinced that everything was premediated and thus a murder and hellbent on proving it.
◉ The new political course he is driving that is almost opposite of his father has made his fair share of political enemies already.
◉ Albert seemingly changed overnight with the death of his family. He went from a rakish lifestyle to an obsessive work-a-holic.

Could say they knew one another since they were children.
He would have fallen in love with Euphy because she hardly batted an eye towards him, and considering she was the most beautiful, he would have tried a whole lot to catch her attention to no avail, which ended up with him snagging all her husband prospects.
All this while, he would have found Melinda to be annoying, but enjoyed their banter nonetheless. Maybe endgame? Idk. Curious on how this frenemy relationship will unfold. More plotting for interactions?

For Frederick and Sebby:
Two friends who gravitated towards each other due to their wanderlust. Sebby may have been a year older, but he is definitely taken in by Fred's disposition. They were in a way, polar opposites, with Sebby often attracting attention with his fashion statement.

We could say that they first met in university where Fred "found" Sebby and decided to invest on his work. And thank to Fred, Sebby had a break in the art world, and his pieces started selling amongst the elite. The money that he has was used to invest into his own art studio, where he starts taking his first step at becoming independent. He also takes the time to travel with Fred, using the opportunity to also study the different artworks in different countries.

Julian would have at first tried to hit on a wellington for the sake of pissing off the hawthornes, cause of his background with his father.
Could say they knew one another since they were children.
He would have fallen in love with Euphy because she hardly batted an eye towards him, and considering she was the most beautiful, he would have tried a whole lot to catch her attention to no avail, which ended up with him snagging all her husband prospects.
All this while, he would have found Melinda to be annoying, but enjoyed their banter nonetheless. Maybe endgame? Idk. Curious on how this frenemy relationship will unfold. More plotting for interactions?

Context for @PavellumPendulum. The Hawthorne matriarch once was supposed to marry the Wellington patriarch, but then the Baron Wellington met his current wife and they ended up married instead, casting her aside. Obviously she eventually struck a good match anyway, but that salt remained, resulting in this feud between the Wellington and the Hawthorne.

Julian is the only son of the Hawthorne, who (as you can read) has been doing everything to ruin the marriage prospects of the Wellingtons in overall bug especially Euphemia, because, well dude has a crush. Melinda has been fighting him on that because she is protective and has seen that bs. However tragedy struck Julian whose handsome mien got destroyed and is now left with a nasty scar and ceased his actions. Mother Wellington still heavily disapproved of the man, though.

Now that I hopefully filled you in on everything I wanted to throw Euphemia into this plot because of Julian's crush and because he was handsome/pretty before (though you already said she doesn't remember him?). Melinda probably mellowed out a lot after that Julian ceased his actions, and also because she pities his scar. Which does leave me with some questions:

- Melinda is PLAIN idk how Euphemia would feel about Melinda as a sister with all her plain features?
- Melinda and Julian were definitely (fr)enemies before he got scarred. Idk how obvious yet, you will have to fill in on how Julian acted in public and how obvious he made some of his show. Double points if he made a point to point out how short Melinda is, she will detest him forever. As for how they treat each other after his scarring incident, that alsk depends on when that happened and how soon after the incident Julian came outside again (also what nasty rumours are being spread in regards to the scar?) and how did Julian change his behaviour in overall towards the Wellingtons?

This is just peerfect for Seb. For both questions. Seb is always willing to try new things, for he is such a curious little thing. He would not mind being a guinea pig. In fact, I have to say that he would be happy to try, and maybe give some inputs.

And in his bid to become independent and not rely on his family, he would definitely dive straight down into the idea of finding older sponsors, which would have landed him into some precarious situations. I dig that. Could totally have a side plot for that. Maybe a stalker from a gent. But yess, all for itt.

One of the few people he might actually be comfortable with would probably be Melinda if she treats him as usual. I do not know about his interactions with the rest of the Wellingtons, or if anyone else wants to establish a relationship with him. But I think overall, he does not exactly hate them. Sounds good to me! I said that she probably doesn't remember him because she pretty much almost immediately forgets anyone that she isn't interested in. I'm not sure if she ever found him beautiful before his scar, but truthfully, she does have more of a tendency to like "unique" people, so she was probably more likely to notice his existence AFTER his injury Melinda is free to fight for her.

Euphy actually likes Melinda because of her shenanigans trying to convince her to put snails on her face and stuff. That type of creativity is welcomed LMAO She's probably decently fond of her.

Melinda being grateful she isn't born after Tolkien, because Hobbit would be another. She would definitely have tried to sock him once or twice when they were kids (cue to Julian being like: can you reach?)

Julian returning with that scar and Melinda deadpanning with a: "that's an improvement." I feel that most of the Wellingtons don't actually dislike Julian either, other than that he acts like that annoying older brother/neighbour but don't quote me on that. Tag the rest for that relationship. I just love the idea of Julian being heavily involved (somewhat in his own weird way) with the Wellingtons and Melinda being there side-eyeing him hard like that old judgy cat in the window.

Since we arrived at this topic anyway, there is also Frederick and Eloise, though Eloise is a proper decade younger than Julian is, so maybe they ignored each other more than that they interacted due to the age difference (and Melinda would beat him up with an umbrella for reals if he tried to do something with Eloise). Frederick and Julian could have had exchanges in the past, but I feel that Frederick is maybe a bit too passive to really start anything with Julian, other than that he, like Julian, hates the facetiousness of their ranks.

Oh that certainly sounds like an idea! Since they're both 23/24 they probably didn't graduate that long ago, so someone may still be hunting them down either in obsessive passion, or another reason.

• I could see Eloise and Léo getting along! He is exceedingly shy and basically like a lost puppy. She could read his palms and say he was exceedingly unlucky and he'd be like 'NOOOOOOOOOO IT MAKES SENSE'. I can definitely see their friendship as like, cheery gal having fun causing trouble while shy guy follows her around just trying his best. He really admires people that are just open and joyful.
• I'm not sure how any of them would meet, but I could see interesting relationships forming between Léona and Ondine or Warren. Léona is quite clever so I definitely see her being able to see herself in Ondine, attempting to rise through society and making a place for herself. Despite their age gap, perhaps a certain friendship is possible? As for Warren, I just find his past interesting, especially since Léona herself was originally meant to be a slave. Since he's a well accomplished man, she would most definitely consider him an option to flirt with, but again, the age gap is a bit glaring. It's up to you whether you're comfortable with any of this or not!

For Ondine: she works at a tea room in London and likes to show herself in all of the fancy places where the people of high society come together where she tries to pretend to be of class to attract the good attention of a fine husband. Léona and Ondine could have met in one of those places? Maybe at first as 'ladies' and then suddenly as customer and pastry chef, thus blowing away her farce? I would love for Ondine to have a friend like Léona that could perhaps serve as a wiser and more graceful mother-figure than her actual mother is.

I'm also open for the ideas with Warren! There is a lot of guilt within Warren over how his family treated the former slaves and then later on tricked them into those unfair contracts, so he will be a bit reserved and greatly humbled in front of Léona at first, but also really admiring her for where she has gotten herself. Maybe they met because Léona made a donation to the boarding school Warren runs for the under privileged students? He would be incredibly flustered at Léona's attempt to flirt with him, though (if he ever figures it out, he is a bit dense). LOL

Otherwise I'm open to explore the possibility because this man is most definitely not going to settle himself with love. Léona just has to throw out the question and make it seem she really has no other options and Warren will cave in.

Aaaa, that's adorable. They can totally be besties. Léo lamenting about how socially inept he is and escorting Eloise around if she needs it, though I'm not sure if them spending so much time together would be taken well or not LOL Léo would understand that it might be out of line for him to like offer her flowers and stuff, but searching for her company so often... Well, to an outsider, I feel like it would definitely look like he was maybe trying to court her... Would Joanna jump at that? (@Diana)

I think it would be kinda cute of her to be a lil hesitant to share him with others, haha. He's not very assertive in the first place and is very easy to convince, so her being like 'NOPE ITS NOT IN THE CARDS, SORRY' he would just nod like 'ah, you're so right, Eloise, I should wait it out.'

Léona and Ondine could have met in one of those places? Maybe at first as 'ladies' and then suddenly as customer and pastry chef, thus blowing away her farce? I would love for Ondine to have a friend like Léona that could perhaps serve as a wiser and more graceful mother-figure than her actual mother is.

They've both clever and a bit deceitful if anything, so there could be some mutual respect to be found after they meet at a social gathering then again at a tea room. I'm also open for the ideas with Warren! There is a lot of guilt within Warren over how his family treated the former slaves and then later on tricked them into those unfair contracts, so he will be a bit reserved and greatly humbled in front of Léona at first, but also really admiring her for where she has gotten herself. Maybe they met because Léona made a donation to the boarding school Warren runs for the under privileged students? He would be incredibly flustered at Léona's attempt to flirt with him, though (if he ever figures it out, he is a bit dense). LOL

Otherwise I'm open to explore the possibility because this man is most definitely not going to settle himself with love. Léona just has to throw out the question and make it seem she really has no other options and Warren will cave in.

I think it would be kinda cute of her to be a lil hesitant to share him with others, haha. He's not very assertive in the first place and is very easy to convince, so her being like 'NOPE ITS NOT IN THE CARDS, SORRY' he would just nod like 'ah, you're so right, Eloise, I should wait it out.'

She is not against Ondine pursuing Léo, but she would honestly be a bit surprised with her like, 'Hm... I expected you to aim higher.' Léo isn't a very big fish in this pond, plus since he is so soft (though she loves him), she thinks Ondine's particularly talents could be better used with a different husband, one with more power and a more interesting personality.
