Canaries Nest

He chuckles and tucks her hair behind her ears, " you are fine. It will take time t adjust, it has only been a few days my sweet darling, now let's go get the fabric you wanted and the sewing things you will need. If you are feeling well enough to walk that is?" He gives her a look of concern, his dark hair dipping into his eyes. It was growing fast and the curls were begining to form around his tanned cheeks, starting to hide a few of the scars there.

Sheona brightened at the thought, "I can - choose what I want?" Her smile widened at the possibilities of being able to create something for herself from scratch. "I can manage fine... medicine is very effective." She was still horribly sore all over, but pain wasn't going to stop her from this adventure...

"I've - never been shopping before. Is it hard to do?" She stepped towards the bed with a little yawn, sitting down stiffly as she took the bundle of medication and searched for what she needed to ease her aches.

He chuckles, " yes darling you can have whatever your heart desires and no I don't think shopping is hard in fact I think you will enjoy it. Most females do" he smiles and goes to get dressed whistling softly

Taking the correct amount of medication, the same amount she recalls the other women giving her at times, she tied the pouch up again and places it on the bedside table. Folding her legs beside her as she sat, she watched Russ dress and wondered if she should do something to herself to look more appropriate for shopping. Not sure what to do, she just watched for a while. But then, she remembered the brush Russ gave her.

Sheona found it on the table and, with much concentration, took her time to mimic the actions Russ showed her yesterday - brushing her hair out in long, smooth strokes. All the while, she watched Russ prepare for the day, seeing the clothing items he'd secured onto himself. Looking away for a moment, her eyes spotted her reflection in the mirror, and she smiled a little. She didn't look as bad as before. Her bruises were lighter, or invisible, and there was a little color in her cheeks. Her hair was starting to luster again, and the few light feathers down the back of her arms that she could see didn't look so frail.

She'd stopped brushing her hair and just seem to meditate on her image, wondering just what she could do for herself to return her wings... She missed them greatly, and the lack of them in the mirror made her look less of a Ciboney... Well, that was Edgar's point, wasn't it?

She looked away...

He watches her look in the mirror and smiles and then frowns heavily. " Hey, yuo are beautful. Come on it is time to go" he chuckles and offers his arm for her, he then leads her to the stores where there are all the fabrics she could imagine

It was a wonderful feeling to go some place on her own free will. She wasn't being taken by force to some unknown man's home, or some unknown hotel or club. She knew where she was going and did so with her own two feet. It was a thrill, to say the least, and Sheona felt like the luckiest girl in the world.

At the shop, she marveled at all the beautiful colors and textures of fabrics, fluttering around the store like a ballerina as she sampled each choice of fabric; feeling the softness of it against her cheek and testing the color against her skin. Too pale for certain colors right now, she decided on a basic palette of earth tones with a dash of color.

The women in the shop watched her with various tones in their faces, which made Sheona weary and she toned down her excitement. She noticed how they were dressed in finer attire, and wore shoes and hats with feathers adorning them. They made her feel strange, but she didn't care... She knew they're lives were better, but her's was just getting started.

After selecting a few yards of color, and thread, the store assistant carried everything to the counter for her - which was a shock to her, to have a man do something for her without her begging or receiving punishment for it. As they checked out, she looked around some more, finding more things to purchase for another season. She didn't realize that a gentleman, husband to one of the customers shopping, had stepped behind her.

"You seem lost, young one." He smiled at her as she turned, finding herself lacking in personal space. "I can help you find your way to my home tonight. I'll take care of you until you remember you way back home..."

His fingers raised to collect a strand of her hair, and Sheona stiffened, looking around the man to find Russ, but she couldn't see anything. She stumbled, slipping herself around the man quickly and rushing back to the main portion of the store. The man didn't follow, but watched as she returned to Russ's side, grabbing onto his tucked shirt from behind to hide her face in the middle of his back.

He smiles watching her joy, he wonders if she did actually sing some times? He watches her dance around and touch the fabrics and he was pleased with her joy. She was adorable. He got distracted by the smells and didn't see her wander off, he did feel her when she ran into his backside and he looks over his shoulder and smiles seeing her " aren't you adorable, what's wrong my little song bird?" he strokes her cheek and kisses her nose with a wink but there was true concern in his eyes

Not wanting to say anything in fear of what might happened, her eyes spoke clearly as they cut towards the man as he slowly crossed the store, taking the bags from his wife's arm and escorting her out. Sheona was not scared...but, disturbed, uncomfortable at how this man spoke to her and then casually left like he did nothing wrong.

Hiding her face against Russ's chest in shame, she kept her composure before the public eye - but her heart was racing...

"Serves her right," another woman with an over sized hat that sat upon her over sized head strutted past with her wide dress swirling around her as if she was sporting peacock feathers. A young assistant followed her with tons of bags and boxes hiding most of his person - all except for the hoofed feet underneath the long black slacks of a butler.

"You should put a lease on her, or - at least - teach her not to speak to respectable, married men." She lifted her nose at them, folding her face as if she caught wind of a foul stench. "Eew, she even smells - used -." And she walked away, following the couple out the door with pomp and respect.

He looks at her and then the man with a huff, he puts his arm over her shoulder rubbing her back ever so gently, " you should learn your place servant" his voice is dark, gravely and when she spoke those lsdt words he released a growl which visibly made everyone in the store shake " leashes are cruel , he'd be wise to keep his eyes on his own mate and off my girl" with that he licks hey cheek with a snarl and a slight huff

The suited man turned to protest, "Are you accusing me of something, pal?" But his wife and mother-in-law quickly pulled the man out the door.

"There's no need to heat up over that piece of trash," the hefty mother-in-law stated as she continued to turn her son around and push him out the door. "You've done on wrong."

Sheona was so upset, quietly she whispered to Russ, "~He cornered me... I did nothing wrong... I didn't even speak to him when he spoke to me, just left to come find you."

She knew Russ was the only one there who would believe her. The shop keeper looked towards both parties with a sigh, "Whatever dispute rising here, take it outside, and you're all welcome to return when needed - if, all remains civil."

The heavy-set woman scuffed, "No need to return. If you're selling to such tacky filth here, we might as well take our business somewhere else."

The shop keeper's shoulders lifted, "Fine by me. Your choice."

Sheona stared at the shop keeper, realizing that his aura wasn't perfect - but it was true. He was someone who could be trusted.

Russ was not someone who was afraid of a fight but he didn't want to put her into danger so he just gives a warning growl and the. Turns tipping her face up softly " I know: you're a good girl" he kisses her " did you get everything you wanted?"

Keeping a stiff upper lip, Sheona nodded at Russ's questions.

The shopkeeper smiled, "Well then, if the little lady is all settled, I'll ring all this up for ya." He took care of their order and bagged up all the fabric - adding a few extra folds of miscellaneous material and items he had behind the counter to help the girl out. Handing the bags over, her told Russ the total and waited, giving them another warm smile.

"You two be careful out there, okay. There's far too many aristocrats running around town these days - all far too rich to treat common folks with respect. Once all this political talk and nominating passes us by, we might return to some decency around here." An ear to the news in town - Shop keeper Bines always knew what was going on in the various city issues and pack councils. The old tauro had an knack for being a respectable, and honest information grapevine.

Sheona remembered something relating to what the shop keeper mentioned, which had to do with Edgar, so she pushed the thoughts aside. She became excited again at the idea of making her own clothing, an old skill she's never forgotten it seems, and gave the shop keeper a nod of thanks before they left.

He nods, technically he was a noble as well...though he did not act it. He takes the bags and puts his arms around his bird leading her back to his den where he knew she would be much safer... much happier

Once they were back home, Sheona danced back to the room, taking a few bags with her so she could spread the pretty fabric across the bed to decide on what to use first.

"I should make a work dress first," she twitted, "work before play. Then, I'll make a play dress..." Pulling some sturdy leather that the shop keeper had placed in the bag, wondering just how it magically appeared, Sheona giggled, "And slippers... I can make those too; so my toes will stay clean."

Twirling around again, she reached to Russ and gave him a big hug, "Thank you so much! I'm the richest bird in the world." Happiness was worth more than possessions in her book, and Russ made her rich.

He smiles and scoops her up when she twirls over to him " you really are the simplest of creatures darling. I cannot wait to see all the things you make" he kisses her and then heads into his study giving her time and space to herself

Sheona took a few hours to build the patter for her work dress, using the earth toned fabrics Russ purchased to piece together two peasant blouse in white and light blue with broad shoulders, a dark tan strap dress and a tan skirt that matched it, a dark brown skirt, and two aprons - full and half sizes. She then sewed one blouse, one skirt, and one apron for herself to use for the week, leaving the other patterns attached to themselves and laid on a high shelf so they do not get lost.

In the mist of working, Sheona realized her stomach was hungry. They haven't eaten breakfast yet. Not certain if Russ was still in the house, she peeked outside his bedroom door to look down the hallway.

"Russ?" her soft voice chimed.

She's never really been through his house completely, except for exiting out of it that morning and back; she wasn't sure where the kitchen, the library, or any other room was located. She also had no clue which rooms were safe to enter and which ones were considered his fathers...

Slowly stepping from the room, she looked down the hall. There was a door right across from the bedroom, and a few more down from it. Considering common sense, she'd figured Russ's office was right across the hall - so, she stepped closer.

"Russ?" she called again a little louder, hoping she wasn't disturbing him...or anyone else. Her stomach loudly protested again, and she wrapped her arms about it to keep it quiet.

His office was in the adjoining room and he got up when he heard his name, he chuckles as she walks down the hall cautiously and shakes his head, at least she is out adventuring now. " Songbird I am right here, what do you need Sheona?" he has a soft smile on his lips when she turns around and his shirt is undone and open, most lycans hated clothing after all

Whirling around with a light "Oh," Sheona covered her giggling lips with her hand as she fluttered to Russ. Her eyes scanned him over, seeing him in his typical relaxed form, she smiled and rubbed her belly playfully.

"We've missed breakfast...my tummy told me so," she giggled again when it loudly protested. With another blush in her cheeks, she wrapped her arms around her stomach again to quiet it down. "I - don't know where the kitchen is, and...I'm sort of scared to go any further without you..."

His home was large, and she had no clue where his father was located. If she could avoid him, she will.

He nods and puts his arm around her slender waist before kissing her cheek ". Okay songbird. Come I will show you to your food" he takes her down the hall to a sparkling kitchen and pads her rump softly, " go and eat"

Sheona followed Russ with awes of delight - taking in all of the rest of his home for the first time since she'd arrived. The kitchen was massive and well kept. When he gave her reigns to grab her something to eat, patting her backside lightly, she turned with another confusing look on her face.

"I-I can choose what I want? You won't anger if I take the better?"

She's never had access to food, and when she was fed it was with what was left over, or what was too old for Edgar to eat; as long as it didn't make her sick... And even that wasn't factored in when she was starving. To think how something so simple and common for others was just another wonder in her eyes.
