Sam cried her heart out. First she thought that this kid was a no body, then he might be a good friend, and then, no, she couldn't dare to think about it.

She stood, wiping the tears off her face. She turned, facing the wall she was leaning against. With a scream, she punched the wall, creating a fist-sized hole in the wall. She looked down at her bloody knuckles, wishing emotions worked differently.

When Henry arrived, he wished he hadn't.

Everyone turned to look at him as he tripped into the meeting, clearly interrupting something important. Happy was full-on glaring at him. But it didn't matter at the moment, for he was too relived to be alive at the moment. "I MADE IT!" Henry's mouth spewed out. He never wanted to sink into the ground more, wincing at how bad that sounded.

"Thank you for joining us, Mr. Jones." One of the elite militia that had been speaking earlier had a tired look on his face, used to the drill of Henry showing up late. He ignored what the boy said before, which made Henry feel a bucket of relief. At least he did until his mouth opened again.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world! Totally! Heheh...heheh..." Henry's mouth oh-so wisely blurted in reply. Henry wanted nothing more than to glue his lips shut at this point. Why did he have no filter again?

The militia elite didn't bother to shoot him a glare. But he did give a stern look, making Henry feel guiyly. Sighing, he focused on the group again and asked, "Now where were we?"

"You were talking about how we're going to fight the British at Boston!" Someone in the crowd answered him with excitement in his voice. The guy jumped up and down like a child, which made Henry wonder if this guy had too much coffee. But with everyone not drinking tea, he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

"Ah yes." The elite seemed to remember, for he continued the speech. "Since we are very close to Boston, we are going to aid the Boston's militia in defeating the British. It is a day's journey, and you will be provided basic provisions and a blanket. The location in Boston will remain confidential for now, Happy and I will lead you there."

Henry stared, looking at Happy smirking away at the news. This wasn't good. They never kept information from them. Mr. Sunshine's blood-red eyes bore right into his brown ones, looking almost evil.

He had a feeling that the truth was going to be the death of him.

Sam punched the wall once more with her other hand, creating a set of bloody knuckles. She always hated feeling weak, and now she felt like this was her weaknesses shining moment.

Emotions where her worst enemy. She had always tried to stay as emotionless as possible, but it seems that her plan is failing.

She punched the wall again and again until the pain was too great to handle. With her luck, she probably broke them.

She knew she wouldn't see Henry again. She probably scared him away with her tough-guy act. Great. Just when she was going to get to know him, to have a friend outside of Abby...

When the meeting finished, Henry left with fear thrumming in his heart. He didn't want to fight more than anything, for dying wasn't in his prerogative at the moment. The boy waited for his mind to wander somewhere else; he didn't want to face this terrifying reality of going to war.

But wasn't that the reason he joined in the first place?

Henry sighed. It was probably one of the dumbest things he had ever done, joining the militia. He joined to show everyone (mainly the bullies) he wasn't 100% a complete failure in life, that he could protect the town. They barely let him in, saying that his limp was going to hinder his abilities in combat. But at the time he joined the ranks, Henry didn't care.

When his mother died, Henry had no more protection. His dad urged him to "be a man" and fight the bullies with fists. But Henry had told him he didn't want to stoop to their level, so his dad's oh-so helpful advice was thrown out the other ear faster than a cheetah at full speed. So with that, Henry's dad became no help whatsoever.

He walked down the quiet dirt street, passing the tavern that all the militia were hanging out at. Laughter drifted out of the ajar door, making Henry feel lonely. He wished they accepted him.

Lost in thought, Henry didn't notice the person in front of him until they collided.

Sam let out one more cry before exploding out of the wear house running in who knows what direction blindly. She was all swept up in any emotion that she didn't notice a small, but effective, sized rock that stood in her path. She ran straight to it tripping over it, and falling down ever so gracefully. Now she knew how Henry felt when he got pushed around.

Sam just laid their, not caring who saw her lying there. She didn't care if her hat had fallen off and every one could see her grown out blonde hair. Right now, everything was a mess, and she needed a solution, and fast.

Henry crashed into Sam with a yelp of surprise. He stumbled and tripped on the guy lying on the ground, but managed not to join him (a feat Henry felt proud of). The guy's hat was still on somehow, and a rock next to him made Henry conclude he must've tripped. But when he saw Sam's tear-stained cheeks, another thought entered his mind, a terrible thought.

"What is this?! What happened?!" Henry cried. He hoped with all his heart that his thoughts weren't true. But as he sat there looking down on the most imitating guy he had ever met, the boy started to panic.

Sam balled her hands into fist, splitting open her healing knuckles, pouring fresh blood onto the ground.

"This is none of your concern." To Sam's horror, her voice cracked, indicating that things weren't alright.

Sam looked up at Henry, ready to say something else, but her voice got caught in her throat. Henry's eyes, full of concern, concern for her. She knew she wouldn't be able to keep up the tough guy act much longer with him around.

Tears started to well up in her eyes, so she looked away, not wanting to show anymore weakness than she already had.

NOTE: Henry thinks that Sam was bullied, but in reality Sam is sad for a different reason. Just a heads up:)

With shock, Henry watched a single tear roll down Sam's cheek. His savoir and bully. The alpha. The most imitating guy he had ever met. Breaking from pain.

Just like him.

When bullies bullied him, Henry remembered how it felt. He could feel the taunts, the pain, the bruises. But the worst part of it was always afterwards: remembering. And nothing was better than coming home to find his mother waiting for him, arms opening and wrapping around him to give him a nice warm hug.

Sighing, Henry knelled down to Sam's level and hugged the teary guy. He patted the back of his hat and rubbed his back in a comforting motion. "I know." He whispered. "Its unfair what it does to us."

Every place Henry's hand touched her back, a tingling feeling ran up and down her spine. She winced, for the feeling was constant, and it wouldn't stop as long as his hand was on her back.

Through gritted teeth, Sam said "You have no idea who I am and what I've been through. Now please," Sam tried to sit up. "Leave."

As Sam tried, she screamed out the in agony, for when she fell, she scrapped her hands, arms, knees, and legs. She was sore in every place in her body, as well as bleeding in a few places as well. She tried again to sit up, but the pain was too great. She went back down, unable to get up without awful pain.

"Wait! Don't do that!" Henry gently pushed him back down. "You're too hurt. Just...wait." He continued to rub Sam's back, trying to calm the guy down. Anger bubbled up in him as he thought about the bullies.

Henry knew he had just met Sam today. He knew that he shouldn't care about someone this much, even if Sam helped him when the boy first met the guy. The memory of the fear he felt when Sam pushed him on the ground and bent his arm back would be enough for any acquaintance to run as far away as possible. But if Sam is going through the same thing as he is, then Henry is not going to abandon him.

Her vision had started to darken from the pain. She knew she was going to black-out soon. Tears streamed down her face, blood welling up from her knuckles, pain spreading through her entire body.

"Henry..." Sam croaked. She was fed up with the lies, fed up with the acts, fed up with hiding who she was. "I...I'm not..." She winced. "who you think... I am." She started reaching for her hat, her vision darkening faster and faster. "I'm..." Sam was tired, sore, in pain, bleeding, all of the above. She had just touched the brim of her hat before she blacked-out from the pain.

= Sam (voice in his head)

Henry's eyes widened as Sam become unconscious. The words the guy spoke rang through his mind, echoing through his head like gongs. 'I'm not who you think I am.' Sam's voice rang, seeming to bounce throughout his skull forevermore.

Well at least it did until he noticed a flash of gold peeking out of the ground.

Slowly removing himself from Sam's hold , Henry rushed forward to investigate. It seemed to glow as he peered at it, making excitement rise in him. 'I wonder if its real gold!' he exclaimed in his mind. Curiosity taking over, he started to dig.

Dirt flew everywhere as Henry dug into the ground, revealing a golden letter opener sitting in the dirt in the middle of the road. Henry held it up in awe, enjoying the sparkles it made in the setting sun. He sat there for a couple minutes, his mind completely forgetting about the unconscious guy (wow Henry:P).

It took the sound of slithering, a growl, and the crunch of something for Henry to finally look Sam's way.

Sam's mind drifted her back to when she was seven. She was playing in their backyard with one of her dolls. She wasn't fond of dolls, but it was a gift from her father before he left the month before.

She was by her favorite tree, or actually in the tree, because she had climbed onto a branch five feet above the ground. Unlike other girls her age, she wore her brothers old clothes. She hated wearing dresses. They were itchy and ugly. They just weren't her style.

= Monster
Henry wished he didn't look when he did.

A part-snake woman stood above the unconscious Sam, crunching a carrot that was next to the guy in half as it growled. It's tail swished and swayed, excited to have easy pickings.

"Meatttt" It hissed, which was unnecessary but required of monsters to do so for no apparent reason. Henry could agree that meat is delicious, but he had a feeling it was talking about the guy crumpled below it. And cannibalism is not yummy meat in Henry's definition. Something in his gut told him he had to distract whatever it was before it ate Sam.

Henry wasn't going to allow Sam to be green eggs and ham. With Henry Jones as a foe, it will scram.

With energy flowing through him, he decided to give his 'master' plan a try.

"Hey!" Henry's yelled at the snake thing.

The snake thing looked at him.

"Uh..." Henry's voice died when it hissed. "N-Never mind! You can go back to growling or whatever." He didn't like the glare he was getting.

He was screwed.

Closing his eyes, Henry held out the golden letter opener in front of him as it lunged at him, claws extended (which only confirmed Henry's suspicion of a new trend: having claws). He heard a shriek, and when he opened his eyes, only a green scale was left of the monster.

Henry looked at his letter opener. The boy studied it closer, looking at the weird markings on it. "I'm going to name you Lucky." He decided.

Pocketing his new possession, Henry realized this was the first time he ever won a fight.

Sam had been making her doll dance when she heard a growl. It wasn't like a dog growl she has heard before, it was a deeper tone. This growl didn't seem possible by any beast on earth. She turned her head to see a pair of glowing yellow eyes boring into her soul.

She screamed at the top of her lungs. Tears started to well up from the fear of this beast. She didn't know what to do. Or at least, she thought she didn't.

The growling beast lunged at her, and to her surprise, she didn't get killed. She ducked under the beast. She grabbed onto the branch, swung upside-down, and landed on the ground, doing a tuck-and-roll to not get hurt. Her heart was pounding, adrenaline pumping through her veins.

Henry frowned as he looked at Sam. He wanted to pick him up and carry him somewhere safer, but sadly his muscle-extinct arms didn't allow such feats to occur. All the options Henry had forced him to leave Sam alone in the streets. 'This is what I get for not helping him when I got the chance.' Henry thought.

What saved the day was when a familiar voice greeted him. "Henry? Is that you?" Henry whipped around the see his old boss looking at his situation with surprise. "What's going on? Are those bullies beating your friends up this time?"

Realizing that saying monsters attacked them was only going to throw him into an insane asylum, Henry went with the story. "Yeah." He replied, looking down to add to the effect. "They did."

The shopkeeper shook his head with disappointment. "I thought those morons learned their lesson when I smacked them with the butt of my gun." He turned to Henry. "Wait here young man, I'll go get you some supplies to patch up your friend here." Then the man left, making Henry slump with relief. His lying skills really have been improving this time.

The beast lunged down at Sam, barring its giant teeth at her. She dogged the over-sized dog, standing about two feet to its right.

"Help!" She screamed. "Mommy! Tommy! Help me!" She started to run for the back door, but the beast stood in her path. She was trapped. She was scared, terrified more like it. She couldn't do anything, nothing at all to save herself.

Until something snapped inside her.

She felt angry. Angry at this beast for frightening her and making her feel helpless. With a growl of her own, she lunged at the beast, wrapping her arm around the neck of the beast. It tried to shake her off, but her grip was to strong for it to shake her off.

She felt something cold in the pocket of her pants. She let go with one arm, strengthening the grip with the other, and went for the object in her pocket.

In a few minutes, the shopkeeper returned with medical equipment and food. His gun was strapped to his back, which his old boss had answered Henry's questioning look with, "Just in case your 'friends' return." Handing Henry the fur bag filled with the supplies, the man picked Sam up and carried him. In the shop, he placed the unconscious guy on the table.

"He's going to be here for a while." The man told Henry. "You better go fetch his parents."

Henry nodded solemnly, not saying a word for once. The boy didn't know where Sam's parents were, but Alen would do. He left the shop and barged into Sam's place without knocking. "Hello?" he yelled. "Alen, are you home?" He moved into the kitchen. "Sam's hurt really badly!" The boy added, hoping that would get his attention.

Abby heard Henry's voice from her room upstairs. She couldn't quite understand what he was saying, only that it was an emergency.

Throwing her shoes and her hat on, she flew down the stairs, finding Henry in the kitchen. He was yelling about Sam.

"No." Abby said, surprise in her voice. She turned and dashed out the door, leaving Henry in the kitchen alone.

"No, not Sam. Anyone but Sam!" Abby told herself as she ran out of the house.

She had ran for about two minutes before she stopped. She had no idea where Sam was. She should have waited for Henry before she burst out of the house.

"Idiot." she told herself as she started to walk back the way she came to get a probably confused Henry out of her house.

NOTE: Henry forgot that Alen is Alex.

When Alen returned, Henry nodded and they both headed to the shop. When they arrived, the shopkeeper gave a puzzled look at Alen's presence instead of Sam's parents. "Is this young man his only family?" Henry's old boss asked.

Henry looked at Alen, not knowing how to react if that was the case. If Sam doesn't have any parents...would that make him an orphan? 'That would be just so terrible. How can anyone deal with living without a parent?' The teen thought to himself, feeling a pang of sadness. Not having a mother or father's love is a hard way to live.
