Absolutely not. Your character is no more a damsel in distress than any other backline fighter. Relying on your teammates is not the same as being a burden.
Okay. Thanks for clearing that up, Luna. :)

*appears* May take a while to decide on a class...

Please give me your opinions on my proposed class:

I really wanted to play a magical tank of some type, somewhere, since you never see one in anything. Tanks always seem to be physical absorbers and weak to magic, so I thought why not make one that's resistant to magic but weak to physical?

Magical tank based upon the Martyr class. I tried to keep it balanced with about what I think the Martyr probably is capable of as a physical tank.

Minor Skills:
Magic Suppression: Acolytes take 33% reduced magical damage and are not staggered by magic attacks made by opponents.

Spectral Lightning: An Acolyte's offensive moves revolve around crimson electricity. While quite weak and doing little damage, bolts can be teleported to strike the desired target even if there is some kind of wall in the way, and have a short paralysis effect for 1 second. Attack can be used once every 3 seconds.

Medium Skills:
Blood Harvest: Acolytes can absorb discarded blood within 2 meters of themselves, provided it is still liquid, for varying effects. Blood of humans and similar will regenerate her health, but if she accidentally absorbs blood of a poisonous entity, she will take damage instead.

Backflash: Acolytes can teleport backwards 1 meter to avoid a frontal attack. Can only be used once every 3 seconds, and the Acolyte takes 33% of the damage they would have taken had they been hit by the attack.

Major Skill:
Senketsu: Once per day, the Acolyte may transmute their physical form into a three-dimensional mass of blood for a short period of time. The more blood they have absorbed prior to the use of Senketsu, the longer they will be able to maintain the form. While in the form, blood reserves slowly drain over time, and the Acolyte will automatically transform back into a human upon reaching 25% blood reserves. This can be overridden, however it is incredibly dangerous and usually results in death, as even with her enhanced capabilities, she still needs at least 25% blood to remain alive. After reaching 25% and transforming back, the Acolyte will fall into a sleep until their blood reserves are restored to 50% - either through natural regeneration, which takes 24 hours, or through absorbing blood. Her Blood Harvest may be activated automatically, but only if it senses definitely human blood within 1 foot of her face.

While in Senketsu form, the Acolyte cannot use Backflash or Blood Harvest, and Spectral Lightning transform into Lightning Talon - a bolt of crimson electricity that deals more damage but doesn't have the stun effect. Magic Suppression is upgraded to a better form, resisting 66% of magic damage and acting like a lightning rod - magical attacks that would hit a known person within 2 meters of her body are instead taken by her.

If she is at 100% blood levels, she'll burn out to 25% in about 3 minutes, so 25% loss per minute. If she absorbs blood equal to 25% of her limit, then her stored amounts will be at 125% and she can last for 4 minutes. This can be reduced or increased if necessary, to balance.

Levelling Specifics:
Magic Suppression is a percentage ability, so it naturally scales as the owner levels up. At least in normal RPGs that is. For that one, it's similar to the steel bones of the Martyr, which I can't see being scaleable either.

Spectral Lightning: Each even numbered level increases damage and each odd-numbered level increases stun duration by 0.5 seconds.

Blood Harvest: Increasing levels increases the amount of use for the blood, so at level 1 absorbing 100ml might heal 5% health and add 5% to stored blood, while at level 2, that same 100ml would heal 10% and add 10% to the storage (or damage 10% if she absorbed the wrong kind).

Backflash: Reduced cooldown by 0.5 seconds every odd numbered level and increase distance by 1 meter every even numbered level.

Senketsu: at higher levels, Lightning Talon does more damage, Magic Absorb has a wider range, and natural blood stores can rest slightly higher: At level 1 her natural is 4 minutes (with 3 minutes before reaching 25%). At level 2, her natural might be 5 minutes (with 4 minutes before reaching 25%). The Natural is what her own body will refill to over time. Excess can only be absorbed and will not refill. So essentially at level 2, her natural is 125%, whereas at level 1 it's 100%.

You've made a really interesting class, but I'm not sure many of the skills were designed in a manner that can scale with level. Most of your skills specify finite amounts rather than allowing for attributes that can grow stronger arbitrarily with level. That being said, the concept of the character is extremely interesting, and I'd like to help you make it a reality. If you need any help changing the language to become more scalable and less finite, I'm willing to work with you over the medium of your choice. Otherwise I'm looking forward to your resubmission.

Character Name: Naore

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
General Appearance:

My spoiler formatting broke and it wont unbreak so fewer spoilers it is.

Orientation: Naore would prefer they be female before reincarnation, but her only real criteria is that they be cute.
Age: 15
More: She swears that the strange, wing-like decorations aid her flow of magic, or something, but aside from looking pretty they seem to serve little purpose.

MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS

Current Goal/Purpose: Ultimately, Naore wants to find out why this world came into existence. Currently, she views it as some kind of dream, since many features of it are similar to her own desires.

Non-class Talents: Naore has an amateur grasp of swordplay due to waking up one day and literally saying "Swords are cool. I'm going to get one." She is also a relatively good strategist, and prior to the recreation event, spent a considerable amount of time as the leader of a roleplaying guild that went around various MMOs gaining a reputation among the gaming community as "Those weirdos who can somehow balance pretending they're elf magicians with actually being decent at video games". She can cook, however, with her parents not around, she refuses to include any ingredient but meat and cake. She is also very intelligent, although you wouldn't know it from first impressions.

Inabilities: Naore is rather hopeless at socialising, and tends to hide in the depths of the internet where she can be who she actually is, and shed the chuunibyou persona. She also overestimates her own capabilities and tends to forget there's no respawn system now.

Fears: Naore has a certain 'fear' of the overly up-their-own-anus people, stemming from her absorption in the game world, where monsters were never particularly problematic but where a 'whale' - a paid user - showing up in a PVP fight or a multiplayer dungeon just ruins everyone's day. Though it's little more than a dislike, she's disliked it for long enough that she instinctively avoids it.

General Personality: Naore suffers from a condition known as "chuunibyou" - that is, acting like you're some kind of fantasy creature because fantasy creatures are cool af. Now that she actually IS a fantasy creature, she's begun to bring this under control a little, but it's still rather prominent, and she'll often talk to herself as if there were some accomplice in her deeds that only she could see. She's typically a rather laid back person, and rather pessimistic. She always notices the worst in something before the best thing about it. She's quite childish too though, and in the things she likes, she often has an inability to see the bad things at all. Despite this, she is undoubtedly intelligent, and was always in the top 10 students in any given school before the rebirth. She is obviously one of the most accepting people of this new world at the moment, and probably one of the few content to simply live in it, with no desire to restore the old one.

Inner Personality: Naore is actually quite shy, but she can't stand that. She is slightly sociopathic as well, and was always left out. She found herself getting very bored with the previous world, and has perked up considerably now, starting to open up a little. Her chuunibyou persona is used by her as a kind of shell to deflect emotional pain. She can be quite friendly and may occasionally actually take other people's emotions into account when deciding something, but this is rare indeed. It is quite obvious to those very close to her that she originally developed the persona to force herself to do things she was scared of doing, although now that persona has been around so long that her real self has grown somewhat attached to it, and doesn't want it to disappear for good, simply for it to allow her to be more honest sometimes.

Secret: Naore has quite a complex past, and she'd rather no one knew about it.

HISTORIC BACKGROUND
Past Life:
Naore is a part of (or was a part of) a powerful family known as the Houen Clan. They were the head of the Houen Yakuza group, which controlled over 50% of Japan's netherworld, as well as great deals of Chinese and Korean underground business too. They even had a small branch in America. As the largest clan though, this also meant the largest number of political issues. For example, she's only 15 and yet as the sole heir to the family, she's had 3 assassination attempts so far, and likely countless more stopped by guards before they got close enough for her to know about them. Due to her parents' business, she often moved around the country and was never able to settle somewhere for long, leading to few friends beyond those she imagined for herself. People who knew about her actively avoided her, fearing what would happen if they got involved, and so she was left alone. As one could expect, the Houen clan played a major role in the war, profiting greatly from the increased trade of illegal materials, blind to the knowledge they were being used to make the end of the world. Of course, there is more than can be told of Naore's tale, but ThirdPersonPastTenseNarrator-san is getting quite tired and wishes to sleep now.

@Sailor Moon @Saito Hajime

Hey would you guys want to meetup with me, York, and Esper's group? (the collab that York posted was between us three)
We collab on google docs, and write together, is that something you guys would llke to do, or do you prefer just posting in response to one another by yourselves?
Lemme know guys :D

Alright, my character is finished. if anyone has a group free for her to join, that'd be great (provided she's accepted, of course).

Oh. I just saw this. @Saito Hajime and I will discuss it. ^_^

Excellent.

I'm going to reply to Saitos post first, and then we will join you in the collab post. My post will most likely be up this evening or tomorrow.

It probably is, but I don't think anyone's posted on the IC in a while so it might have died.

That's unfortunate. If it's dead I probably won't spend time writing a CS for it.

I made a CS a while back, but I think generally speaking it's pretty hard to get into this kind of RP when groups are limited to 3 people. If you do make a CS, you could have them party with my character in an attempt to revive it :p Most of the IC is pasting in what's been done in PMs, so it's possible it's still going, just in places where people can't see it.

I can attest to this on my end. Not sure what the others are up to.

Eh, that's an awkward set up for a roleplay but I haven't been in one for awhile. I'll probably not write a CS for this one.

We're still writing collabs and stuff, so this isn't dead just yet~. Our collabs are pretty long and include 5 people, so they're bound to be pretty slow.

Timezones/being busy can make stuff pretty awkward, yeah X3. If you can find a partner who's awake the same time as you/busy the same time as you, then you're golden. Same goes if you don't mind slow posts.

I suppose so. I'm not saying the set up is wrong or anything, it's just not my cup of tea. I dislike slow roleplays since i'm an impatient person and the (sorta-of?) dead state does not help with that. Anyways thank you guys for quickly explaining the roleplay to me.
