Welcome to Broken Valley!

A small town holding a total population of over 25,000 people. Each one different and unique in their own way. Many of them grew up here while others have moved in, claiming Broken Valley as home. People from all over slowly entering Broken Valley like moths to a light. A magical town would be nothing without protectors. And unfortunately with those protectors comes the dangers that have been waiting in the dark. There's magic within this town and evil will stop at nothing to make it theirs.

A disaster of murders hit Broken Valley, each one not making any sense. A disaster of murders hit Broken Valley, each one not making any sense to a normal person. Newly fresh witches must figure it all out. Each blessed by the goddess Nohena herself. Five adults who have control over a specific element Fire, air, earth, water and spirit. All of them given the task to protect both their coven as well as their town. Unfortunately the bridge to their powers opening caused a mystical creation to activate. Slowly its bringing in evil, evil that wishes to take the magic strong enough to act a magnet to demons and dark magic beings.

Things aren't as they seem and this life won't be easy.

But what would you do for your coven?


Rules:

1. Basic Iwaku rules
2. Romance will be allowed, this will be placed within redstar
3. Dark magic CANNOT be used for every character, if one of the characters with the elements uses magic, they lose their element and are given a different ability. As well as losing their sanity and be replaced, character or rper wise. [this is to prevent everyone from making a black magic user, pm me and we'll talk]
4. Respect other writer's and their characters, I'd hate to have to kick someone out
5. If you can't post at least twice a week then message me and let me know. Depending on how it affects the rp all together, I'll message you and you'll be given 24 hours to respond before your character is either killed off or just disappears.

With a shock of pink and blue hair, sides shaved, and standing at 178cm (5'10") the girl definitely stands out. Big baby blues stare out at the world wonderingly, surrounded by lashes and lids coated in dark makeup. Surprisingly she is devoid of any tats and only has her ears pierced. Her body is strong and finely muscled after years of dancing and climbing. Oh, and word to the uninitiated, watch out for that slow unfurling smirk, for it means some idea is about to be unleashed from that peculiar brain of hers.

Personality-
Marti is constantly in motion: fidgeting, doodling, or dancing. But sometimes she does fixate on something that catches her attention and will just stop what she is doing and space out. The girl doesn't necessarily get bored easily, and is not really ADHD, but that mind of hers is constantly spinning with ideas. Coupled with her strange thought and logic patterns, the girl will sometimes just 'Go Random.' Marti is friendly and polite, but sometimes crosses personal boundaries and invades personal space too easily. Normally she is just quiet to start (if only to appear normal to the public) but once she lightens up and starts talking, like really talking for reals and getting louder...? Run. It's really, really, really, reeeeeeally hard to shut her up. She does essentially have a good heart but is a bit simple and too quick to trust, and so, she is easily manipulated.

Rarely does she get angry, but once she realizes she has been burned or betrayed that rare dark-eyed tempest bitch will manifest from within and quick. Watch the eff out. Ever seen a beautiful clear sunny day turn on you, wind picking up, sky darkening as if night dropped and suddenly begin to storm violently? Yeah, she becomes that kinda' jilted bitch. But all in all, she is a good friend and will go out of her way to help out her friends, but at the cost of them having to tolerate her... peculiar quirks and annoyances. If you see her climb up to a rooftop or on top of a playground, just know she does it because she can.

Background

Born into suburbia just outside a large city in Eastern Canada, Marti was raised in relative normalcy by two loving parents with very well paying jobs. They had their cars, and big house and summer cottage and 2 dogs and a nanny that took their two kids to hockey or dance or swimming practice. Life was good. Martika was cleverly still guised as a normal girl since her family covered up and suppressed her 'peculiarities' rather well. But still, the McClane family would still occasionally find their odd daughter in the oddest of places up high. She was even in the news for being spotted standing on the glass ceiling of the local mall. The firemen came to rescue her but by the time they got to her , Martika was already on the ground.

Her brother Jamie was going to turn 17 and was going to try out for Team Canada for the World Juniors. But before he had the chance, he was killed in a tragic freak car accident. Jamie and Marti were skippng stones at the nearby pond when the speeding sports car crashed into another car, flipped over the guard rail and landed on top of the teenaged star centreman. 10 year old Marti was right beside him. A second earlier Jamie had just handed over to his little sister 'the perfect pond skimmer.' She smiled at him and a second later Jamie was dead. She was still standing in the same spot when the emergency people finally came, her face frozen with that same litlle appreciative smile on her face.

Maybe she should have gotten therapy. But instead she got weekends and summers at Dad's and the rest of the time with Mom. Jamie's death traumatized her folks so badly that they became different people. So different and so selfish now. How they each coped with Jamie's death shaped the wedge between them until such time they divorced. And so Marti began to cope by losing herself in dancing and climbing. She became very good at dance, so good in fact she received a scholarship from her school.

But Marti never set foot in water ever again even though she had loved swimming. Any time she got near a pool or a large body of water, all she could see was that moment. Fresh as the day it happened, she could see her big brother die in a violent crash into that pond.

But there she stood at the place of his death now. At the pond. It was frozen over and she was going to skate as she would do annually to remember Jamie. Water was a demon to her... but ice? Jamie was a star hockey player. Ice was his love and she would love it for him and skate one day out of the year during winter in his name. Marti would skate and skate till she collapsed. The aftermath would be a girl sobbing heavily at pond's edge, a pile of sorrow and misery and self-hate; the survivor's guilt ate her up to this day.

Yet today was much different. For it was a lot warmer the day before and the ice was not set properly. And Marti was going to die. After a few warm up circles and figure eights, she skated out to the middle of the pond to do some pirouettes. With a soft smile, she would spin once for every year of her brothers dea-- the ice gave way and Marti fell in.

But the next few seconds were an eternal struggle to understand. She swore she heard an owl cry out, she swore a blast of wind shoved her out of the water before her head went under, and she swore was flying back to shore before she passed out. When she woke next she was in her car with the engine running and the heat turned up full blast. And in her hand she held a stone. The girl realized two things just then.

First was that she held the 'perfect pond skimmer.' It really was the one and same flat round stone Jamie gave her 9 years ago. And second, she realized it was time to move now. Time to move on.

When she was ready, she buckled up and drove away. Away from the pond, away from misery, away from sorrow, and away from self-hate. She had no idea to where exactly she needed to go, but she felt-- no, Marti just knew-- that if she drove long enough she would get to where she needed to be. And at the end of the Journey, everything else be damned, Martika Naomi McClane was in the Broken Valley.

Occupation-
Works as a Receptionist at Goddess Ink, a busy tattoo shop. And as part-time Host at Vindication, an old theatre-turned-pub that hosts live bands on weekends.

Long curly white blonde hair that reaches mid-back. Pale green eyes and three scars from a blade on her back covered under a large rose tattoo that starts from under her left ear, to her shoulder and down her back.
Name- Serenity Romano or Nini
Age- 24 years old
Element- Spirit
Personality- An independent and responsible woman like Nini had never seen herself working with others. Being apart of a team outside of a paying job unusal for her. You could say that she's a loner by choice but when you get to talk with her you'll notice she's sarcastic and sassy. Many say she's hard to get attached to but that's fine with Serenity, who planned to spend her entire life alone. But when she does make friends, Nini is loyal to the bone and goes to long lengths to help in anyway possible.

Despite all of this Serenity is easy to talk to which is why her job as a bartender is easy as customers come back to vent and ask for her opinion. Nini is a free spirit that does what she pleases but now that she has her power, it seems as though now its the magic she must follow. Because of her power Nini is more connected to the living and this sometimes overwhelms her, causing Serenity to go quiet for a certain period of time.

Background- Serenity was born with a father that works overseas and an alcoholic mother, as well as three other siblings. As the eldest sibling Nini was forced to step up, sometimes having to skip school when her little brother or sisters got sick. She was expelled from three schools during middle and high school. Because of this when she hit the age of 17 years old [her siblings being 10, 12 and 14] her father made plans to allow Serenity to move. The deal was that their mother was to stay and the kids would tag along with Nini. Serenity moved as far away from her home in England to start a new home. It was hard starting out within Broken Valley as many people underestimated Nini for her age, not knowing her troubles at home. The only time Serenity was able to leave was when everyone had school. On the rare occasions someone was sick, Nini would hire the old lady next door to babysit. They were old enough to understand not to say certain things or to lie when asked personal questions. Unfortunately, they were living off a "trust no one but each other" rule in order to survive.

When the kids got older, Serenity was able to get a job at the town's local bar. She worked there at the age of 19. The owner was like the father she never had as he knew of her situation, always working with her schedule or offering to allow his wife to watch them at home with his kids. Unfortunately 2 years later he died and in his will he handed ownership of the bar to Nini, something he and his had agreed on in th past. She been in charge for 3 years, taking care of the bar and trying to figure herself out as well.
