Blood & Ruin (A Fantasy Roleplay)[OOC/Sign-Ups]

Could I make someone who was part of Grandora but then defected?

Yes definitely you can :)

If it helps, the war has been going on for about a year or so at this point. The initial rebellion started two years ago, but the actual war (pillaging towns, raiding cities, take-overs etc) has started in the past year

So, before the war, the rebellion was mostly about gathering like minded people and such? Seems perfect, cause my general idea is someone who was recruited because they agreed that the current king is too passive and wanted action, but defected after they realized that the side causing the civil war is the last one they'd want to continue supporting.

Yes that's exactly it :) and perfect! Let me know if you have any more questions or want clearing up :)

I'm getting major LoD vibes from the creation myth, and I love it.

I'd like to play someone who eventually learns magic, but the rest of the concept is fairly nebulous still. Are there specific traits that would qualify them for it, more than other characters?

I purposely left it a bit vague, simply for lore reasons, as it's a subject that is not black and white - it could be as simple as someone just isn't capable of learning magic, while another person may simply be able to learn, with no apparent reason. There is also exists a magical academy for the sole purpose of studying magic.

I'm interested in this, it's sounds intriguing and feels like going to be fun if i use one of my OC

Name: Yuuji Rurikawa
(Straightforward. A First name and middle or last name (if they have one)).

Age: 14, 35+
(Age doesn't generally doesn't matter in this roleplay. Could play as an old man, middle aged woman, etc. Just have it make sense please.)

Gender, Male
(Again, straightforward.)

Appearance
Yuuji may appear like a cute girl to some, due to his slight resemblance to Yuki. Many people have confused the two, which they sometimes use to pull pranks. Yuuji has amber-colored eyes, described by Kaoru as "the color of honey", and shoulder-length green hair in a layered lob style.

He wears a black crop top with a red choker and stripe, and black jeans with white cuffs, paired with black lace-up combat boots and white laces, and a black and red cat-eared hat with a heart on it.

His left eye has a tear running down out of it, and is a plus instead of a regular pupil, which he usually covers up with an eyepatch before going out. He can also be seen wearing various other outfits, such as when he stole Kaoru's jacket and slept in it the whole afternoon.
(Good description of your character. Picture does not substitute for writing. Only human characters.)

Personality
(Explain their personality. Their traits, habits, how they behave etc.)
Yuuji is a fairly nice person, and is overprotective of Kaoru at times, and worries excessively about others, but has lightened

He admits even though he can be rude to other people, he doesn't actively try to be rude or push others away unless he genuinely doesn't want them or knows he can hurt them.
Background
(Probably the most important section. Detail anything here, from their origins, social class/status, occupation, family, or anything else that would fit in here.) Yuuji used to work in the theater, acting, but one day, a set fell on him, killing him instantly.

Weapon
(This is OPTIONAL. Your character will be getting a weapon as per story anyways, but if you want them to start with one, that's okay. If you do choose to start with a weapon, choose a basic one for now).
Knife. Literally just a knife he took from some rich dude's house.
Other
(Anything else you want to add?) He's a ghost, connected to Kaoru, since they share the same token, a metal cross that Yuuji keeps around his neck.

Name: Kaoru Sakisaka
(Straightforward. A First name and middle or last name (if they have one)).

Age: 14, 35+
(Age doesn't generally doesn't matter in this roleplay. Could play as an old man, middle aged woman, etc. Just have it make sense please.)

Gender: Male
(Again, straightforward.)

Appearance
(Good description of your character. Picture does not substitute for writing. Only human characters.)
Kaoru has pink hair that changes color in shades of pink, a dark blue jacket with a white shirt underneath and black jeans.
Personality
(Explain their personality. Their traits, habits, how they behave etc.)
Kaoru has a sweet personality and is honest, which allows him to get scammed easily, but can be protective at times. He also has selective mutism and agere, which leads him to be unable to talk to certain people.
Background
(Probably the most important section. Detail anything here, from their origins, social class/status, occupation, family, or anything else that would fit in here.)
Kaoru went to watch a show in the theater, fell in the ditch next to it and drowned, dying.
Weapon
(This is OPTIONAL. Your character will be getting a weapon as per story anyways, but if you want them to start with one, that's okay. If you do choose to start with a weapon, choose a basic one for now).
Knife. but with water runes on it, no powrs.
Other
(Anything else you want to add?) Connected to Yuuji, via cross.

Name: Lawrence Norwich

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Appearance:
Lawrence has a straight brown hair reaching to his shoulder, blue eyes that his former boss describe as "false gentle soul"

Lawrence wears a clothing that is usually wear by a noble (it even has the frills on it) tho the difference is that it's covered by some armor

And finally Lawrence wear a masquerade mask to complete his glorious image of proper gentleman

Personality
From the outside Lawrence speak and act like that of a stereotypical noble class seen in stories(albeit a bit exaggerated and dramatic), he is a gentleman to all people ready to help them like a knight in shining armor especially to all fair maiden.

But that is just his persona Lawrence crafted to lure his target and kill them. In truth Lawrence is a manipulative sadistic bastard that play with his victims, he is observant and calculative always devising a plan on how to control his targets like a puppets

But despite this he can be a genuinely friendly to people that Lawrence genuinely trusted with.

Background:
He did not know who he is, he does not know on who his parents is or his origin but that does not matter as what's matter is the present and what he would do now.

Lawrence was once work as an personal assassin/guatd for Lord Leonard a local noble from the west, life is good beautiful even but the with everything that's been happening? It did not help with his Lord sanity as he becoming more paranoid then ever.

Lawrence is very loyal to his lord so when Leonard order his men to kill Lawrence, well let's just say he answered with the appropriate response.

By killing everyone

It is simply instinct telling him to survive and oh he loves it, the face of leonard as he sees the carnage happening knowing that betraying Lawrence trust was a not so good idea

And after that carnage and killing Leonard. Lawrence simply travel the lands now to appreciate the beauty mother earth has blessed us with.

Weapon:
A long bladed spear

Other:
Despite his noble persona, Lawrence is NOT an actual noble. His persona comes from witnessing a stage play and being fascinated by the act which lead him to start reading story and history book just so he can act like one

In fact his own last name are something he made up on the spot to complete the noble persona
So is this okay?

Also i write things on a phone so I'm sorry if it looks weird on your end because i don't actually have a pc or laptop

"The greatest crimes are oft borne of a want for excess, rather than of necessity." - Lyran Two-Gold, "On The Mercantile Soul".

Name:
Jackal (of the) Five-Coins
(In the presence of other seafarers, the name of her birthvessel may be used instead of their clan. For example, Jackal D'Wayfarer.)

Age:
28

Gender:
Female

Appearance:
A sneered grin and a rugged, slender form immediately stand out about the obviously pirate-affiliated woman standing before you. Locks of messy, blonde hair frame an angular, narrow face; their ears, lips, and nose appear to be adorned with piercings of gold and silver, while various scars cross their features.

Jackal's figure is lithe and muscular, clearly well-suited to a life aboard a vessel on the open seas. Their jagged scars and a sun-kissed complexion paint a long, storied history; as does their flowing mural of tattoos, which densely covers much of their skin from the neck down. Colorful and often cryptic in meaning, the symbols and icons which cover her body are typically either vulgar or macabre - depicting scantily-clad women among motifs of death, money, and loyalty.

Personality:

The world be damned, and all the people in it. Jackal is only really cares about two things - herself, and her crew. Often crass, blunt, and equally as crude, she often comes off as rude or aggressive - when in reality, she is much more matter-of-fact and practical than she may appear. Though, admittedly, she has no patience or pity for those she considers to be cowardly or dishonorable. Her world is one of calculated risks, gambling one's self to gain an even higher reward. She enjoys challenging the status quo, whether it be intentionally making jabs at an individual or openly criticizing a system which she disagrees with. In other words, Jackal's a punk-ass pirate.

Background:
The Five-Coins were known as conquerors of the seas and terror of the lanes for many countless centuries. Though they first began as a sea-faring, coastal-raiding clan of nomadic buccaneers, their fortunes came with the growth of overseas trading. Hiring themselves out to wealthy businessmen, the Fives grew fat and rich hunting down rival clans and protecting the mercantile vessels of various merchant guilds. But, alas, the sea is a cruel mistress, and their luck was destined to run out one day. Their homefleet was swept up in a mighty, tempestuous storm, which is said to have shattered the flagship of the fleet - the Queen Illya's Voyage - in one fell swoop. Without a Captain to unite them, the Five-Coins soon split apart to pursue their own fortunes elsewhere; with many soon settling in various kingdoms as merchants and mercenaries. They are said to be cutthroat in business but loyal allies in battle, with a good eye for deception and an even greater sense for danger. Though many are now landlocked in businesses and in service with other masters, all Five-Coins yearn for the freedom and deadly mystique of the open sea - it is simply in their blood.

Jackal is one such wayward soul, born a little too late to experience the great battles against the Scarlet Queen and the glories of the old clan. Born as a result of an one-night encounter between Helga, a journeying Five-Coin, and Johann, a wealthy businessman in the Bunberries; Jackal ended up experiencing the life of a travelling mercenary with her mother, as Johann had only been willing to accept the child if they were a son. For a time, Helga and Jackal left the city to venture back to the sea, where they briefly made a living on the coast doing various jobs. As Jackal grew older, she began to help the local fishermen and serve drinks at the tavern. As soon as she was able, she signed on with a whaling vessel - thoroughly enjoying life out on the waters, among the wooden deck and tangled rigging. Somehow, she eventually ended up on privateer Captain Blackeye's vessel after passing from ship to ship.

The only time Jackal left the ocean was to drink, party, and- when she learned that her beloved mother had passed away. In the traditions of the Five-Coins, she cremated her at sea and scattered the ashes. What was left was carefully packed into a metal tin, which she intended to deliver back to Bellus for proper burial...

Weapon:
By her side is a well-oiled, leather sheath with a worn, chipped nautical cutlass. Ideal for defending one's decks - or boarding another - the heavy curved blade has been fitted with a handguard and a hand-carved, wooden handle.

Other:
haha pirate go brrrrrrrr.

Name: Eurig the Antiquarian
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Eurig isn't a particularly imposing man, standing 5'10 and sporting a typically welcoming face. His body is overall firm, but not particularly bulky. He keeps his hair and beard clean and neat enough to not embarrass himself when speaking to potential clients and customers.

Eurig commonly wears variants of two different outfits. The first kind is worn when he's in town and usually consists of an indigo and white beret-style hat, robes, comfortable tan pants, short brown boots, and a few golden medallions (good luck charms for merchants). The other outfit type, worn while traveling, consists of a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, his usual medallions, a leather vest, an open-front indigo surcoat, leather bracers, and black pants tucked into taller boots.

Personality
Overall, Eurig is a fun-loving and easygoing person, fond of luxury goods, drink, and parties. As a merchant, he sets a high standard and has a stringent code of business ethics. His fascination with history shows, as he mainly deals in antiques and has a plethora of history texts and collector's catalogues lining his bookshelves. He also has a great zest for travel, treasure hunting, and exotic sights. The downside to his love of luxury and unique items is a tendency to overindulge, bordering gluttony in some instances. However, he never drinks alone unless he's severely depressed. His tendency to grab antiques and artifacts also makes him prone to danger and an ideal target for booby traps, unless the deceit is obvious; he's not a fool, but also not trained to identify hidden threats.

Background
Born into a middle-class family, Eurig was initially expected to become a doctor like his father when he grew up. However, chance encounters with several eccentric characters in the Hive district's marketplace cemented his desire to become a merchant himself. There was frequent conflict in his house regarding expectations for him and his siblings. His father finally acquiesced and sent him to work at an imported goods shop—usually maintaining the shop while listening to the shopkeeper speak and pitch new products like silk, dyes, and perfume. The various exotic items made him dream of traveling far and wide as a young teen, while the shop's wealthy and avant-garde clientele strengthened his wishes to be more. He often spent his free time reading about faraway destinations, history, and commerce.

At 19, Eurig met a band of traveling merchants who were staying for a week. While browsing their wares, he demonstrated his understanding of trade routes and history, plus his skill at appraisal and speaking. Since a small handful of merchants had split off from this band to found their own company, Eurig seemed like a prime candidate to join then and soon fill their old colleagues' shoes. He didn't disappoint.

The Roaming Emporium, as they were called, turned out to be more than mere merchants. While on the road, they made occasional detours to explore ruins and bring back artifacts to sell at auction. On top of the antiques and regular goods they sold, their antiquarians also appraised the locals' valuables by request; some found they had nothing of value, while others had priceless heirlooms. Owners of the finer pieces could put then up for auction towards the end of the company's stay in town, or simply sell the valuables. This was Eurig's favorite part of his time in each town. He has done this for 11 years, and it never gets old for him.

At the present, the company is back in Bellus, Eurig's hometown. Talk of war and a more fortified town have his family and his colleagues on edge. It is disrupting trade routes and indirectly causing a plethora of issues across the continent. Now, more than ever, the future is uncertain in the eyes of the antiquarian.

Weapon: Wine bottle

Other:
TBD

Wine bottle!!! Truly, a weapon mightier than even the most finely crafted blade...

Hello hello, Ciao and !Hola! I'd like to sign up! I'll put in the my sign-up sheet now:

Name
Latira (Lati) "Blisterblood" Runeleaf

Age
15 years old

Gender
Female

Appearance
Lati is a bit shorter than an average 15 year old today, she is a ginger, with short, scruffy hair (think, like- a messy pixie cut). She is relatively spindly, with her legs being longer than her torso. She is very physically fit, though, not having much muscle. Lati is handicapped, she was born without her left arm. Lati wears a homemade outfit. It has coattails, and high socks. Resembling the outfit of a high class performer in some aspects, it is pretty torn, however. Her coattails aren't very close to the ground, for practical reasons, and the coattails are attached to a utility belt with three normal utility pouches and one longer pouch that holds her weapon. Lati's shirt is a loose, long sleeved number, that was cut upwards on the torso by Lati. She wears a cape with a hood, in order to stay hidden from view as much as possible. Her outfit is like this one I found on Pinterest- Here it is in a link! She also wears a backpack, and glove, to keep her fingerprints from getting on things. This will make sense eventually I swear, it needs context.

Personality
A snarky little badass, who is also very enthusiastic. She's quick to scuffle, and she got her nickname "Blisterblood" for her explosive temper of the highest order. About as nocturnal as a bat.

Background
Lati lives in the Willows, with her parents and being the youngest of 3 sisters. Lati had been born different, as she was born without her arm, and a red-head, despite her parents and sisters being raven haired. Her family never was mean-spirited towards Lati, despite her quirks. Lati grew up happy, albeit very poor. She made life a game, a show. She had always loved being in the spotlight. Lati, as she got older, realized that less and less food became available each passing year. She started to steal from those from the Hive district, to keep her family alive. She realized she had a knack for this, and continued doing it. Becoming a bit of a town nuisance, puss in boots type. A dramatic, flashy, small time thief, just trying to keep her family sustained.

Weapon
Ahem. MACE- as well as a grappling hook if that's allowed.

Other
If it is allowed, and if they exist in the roleplay's world, she has a small dragon. She also constantly feels the "phantom limb" (I am gonna assume you know what that is), sometimes trying to punch people with it (when needed), forgetting that she has no left arm.

And there it is, my attempt at entering this absolute god-tier roleplay, I'm hella late, Peace, arrivederci, and !Adios!
