Arc One! [so far…]
Arc One! [so far…]
It all started weeks ago. Reports had been filled in throughout numerous divisions, while complaints and questions from civilians shot through the Seventh Division. Groups of hollow having appeared in numerous places, small numbers at first before growing larger as the problem grew more common. What seemed to be a simple hollow infestation problem at first soon showed signs of something else. The hollow were recorded to have unusual behavior from the norm. Instead of acting as wild savages, they would instead stalk and wait, watching their prey before striking, sometimes even with coordinates. If that weren’t enough to deal with, Central 46 had also been making weird decisions around the same time; Ordering the execution of poor, hungry, civilians for stealing a loaf of bread, suspending certain Shinigami for a single failed mission, and even throwing some behind bars for attempting to retire.
For hundreds of years, since the rebellion of ex-Shinigami and civilians alike due to poor treatment of souls in the Rukongai, the Seireitei has lived moderately in peace. Adjusting their military accordingly and focusing more on the Rukongai. But with the sudden rise of the hollow infestation and the sudden rash decisions of Central 46, it seems that time of peace is slowly coming to an end...

First off, the common rules. No godmodding, powerplay, metagame, and so on. If you have no idea what these terms mean or don’t know if a certain thing is allowed, don’t be afraid to ask. I’m your GM for a reason, communication is key.
When creating a character you’re limited to Division Ten, Six, and Eight. This is because in the beginning of the role-play I want to take things easy and allow people to settle. This means get to know other characters, train, and so on before the first arc is fully introduced. It’ll be much harder to do that if characters are all spread around. Later on may you be able to transfer to another Division or create a character for another Division.
On top of that the only other race besides Shinigami I’m willing to let others play right away is the Visored, but permission must be granted first before making one or becoming one in-character. Though note that obtaining Visored abilities will be difficult, so if I allow you to make a Shinigami undergoing Hollowfication then you’ll have to earn abilities in-character. Also note, the Gotei 13 may not be happy if they find out what you are :)
Due to wanting the role-play to be more story-focused, I want there to be a sense of danger within the plot and there will be none of that if characters are able to crash through twenty buildings without gaining a scratch. Therefore the supernatural abilities of Shinigami will be limited. Shinigami still have enhanced durability but only to the point that they’re more likely to survive life-threatening injuries than mere humans. They can still bleed out if they sustain enough wounds. As well, using Kido and Zanpakuto abilities will further tire your character as they use up Reiryoku which is tied to stamina. Keep that in mind while in combat. I don’t want to kill your character but if you ignore these limits placed and continue to do so then I and others (Bring it up to me first) have the right to kill your character if the situation calls for it.
Furthermore, everyone starts off as a novice in Zankensoki skills. The GM(s) will determine when one has upgraded from that stage by taking into account their training, missions, and overall activity within IC. In the meantime, here are starting skills.
- Zanjutsu: Hōzuri - Shitonegaeshi – Hōzan Kenbu
- Hakuda: Tesshō - Taketonbo - Chōhigezutsuki
- Hoho: Shunpo
- Kido: Bakudo [1 – 21] Hado [1 – 31]

The Gotei 13 serves as the military force of the Soul Society. Their duties consist of defending the center of the Soul Society, the Seireitei. Deployment of division members into enemy territory for combat operations, and the guiding of souls to Soul Society.
-
The head division of the Gotei 13. This division is responsible for relaying orders from Central 46 and deals with Soul Society law, as well as the monitoring of other divisions. The captain of this squad also acts as the Captain-Commander, the leader of the Gotei 13. Meanwhile, the vice-captain(s) of this squad has authority over vice-captains of other squads. This division has the least amount of Shinigami, all rumored to be highly skilled.
The Captain-Commander is an elderly man by the name of Liang Zhōu. With pale skin he wears his blonde-graying hair straight, sporting a beard and a mustache separated into two tendrils at the corner of his mouth that extends past his jaw line. He’s rumored to be a wise and powerful man, yet people outside his squad rarely talks to him. Seeing his power is even rarer. Though when he is seen, he is always seen in a tradional shihakusho and haori, with a cane that has a circle at the top with rings around it hinting towards it being his Zanpakuto hidden. -
This division is one that deals in assassination as well as undercover operations. Not many people outside this division know more past that though. The captain of this squad is automatically assigned leader to the Onmitsukido therefore making the second division duties tie in with the Onmitsukido. The tasks are simple; execution, assassination, and supervision of criminals, although the Onmitsukido are split into four smaller divisions to carry out these duties.
Executive Militia - Specializing in hand-to-hand combat, Hakuda, they operate silently and in secrecy. Cold-blooded and dressed in all black, their duties include assassination and punishment of ex-comrades and those who break the law. They may act as scouts as well if a battle concerns the Seireitei. Lead by Second-division captain.
Patrol Corps – With unknown appearances to preserve confidentiality, this division focuses on intelligence gathering within the Seireitei. They are assigned mainly to the Seireitei to gather data on potential uprisings. Lead by Second-division vice-captain.
Detention Unit – This unit is responsible for the imprisonment and supervision of all criminals within the Seireitei. They’re also in control of the Nest of Maggots, a place where individuals go who are deemed potential dangers. It’s possible to end up there even without committing a crime. The Nest of Maggots acts both as a prison and a mental rehabilitation center. Lead by Second-division third seat.
Inner Court Troop – Masters of shunpo, this is a special ops unit that is mobilized whenever a mission is urgent and requires secrecy. These troops serve as information transmission units within the Seireitei. Lead by Second-division fourth seat. -
The third division is responsible for sending out Shinigami to gather information, sometimes working with the second division to accomplish this goal when it comes to more serious assignments. Information gathered is sent to the twelfth division for storage. They’re also in charge of jigokuchō monitoring and message systems. -
The fourth division is in charge of treating injuries and sometimes sickness of Shinigami. They use medicine, some in which is provided by the twelfth division, to help with injuries. They may also use their spiritual powers to deal with more life-threatening injuries. They are also assigned menial tasks, such as cleaning the Seireitei. As well, they are used to deliver supplies to different squads and individuals out on missions. -
The captain of this division also leads the military branch the Kido Corps. The fifth division is one that mainly focuses on Kido. They are stationed with other divisions, mostly those centering on melee, to provide ranged-defensive and offensive support. Their duties also include the recording and storing of new Kido. The Kido Corps, much like the second division, operates in secrecy. Their known duties include opening the Senkaimon for travel between the Human World and Soul Society, as well as releasing the Sokyoku seal during executions. Behind the scenes they keep close watch to make sure no forbidden Kido is leaked to the public. -
The sixth division handles internal affairs. They monitor Shinigami activity then handle any disturbances from them. They are responsible for apprehending those that break Soul Society law and then detaining them until Central 46 has given their verdict. This division has the most holding cells.
The Captain of this division is Edmé, played by the lovely @Aliceee. Renowned for her cunningness and nonpartisan nature, she is a role-model for Shinigami all around. Though not free from controversy due to earning her position by killing the previous Squad Six captain, her stern leadership and improvement of her Division is certainly something to be respected. -
This division is responsible for keeping the Rukongai civil and peaceful by making sure no Shinigami go causing chaos there, as well as making sure souls have their voices heard. Any questions or complaints are sent to the Seventh Division in which they decide what to do with them. -
An all-around combat squad with Shinigami specializing in offensive and defensive tactics, as well as Kido, Hakuda, Zanjutsu, and so on. This division is a reinforcement division. If other divisions are low on Shinigami or need certain Shinigami that specialize in a specific area, they turn to the Eight Division for help.
The Captain of this division is Takumi Date, played by the pancake eater god @Gerontis. The Samurai Shinigami, a name earned due to his time leading the Eighth Division without a Bankai. A rather new Captain, but one that has earned the respect of peers and even the Captain-Commander due to his tactical nature and hard work.
The vice-captain of this division is Takako Chinen, played by the fiery @Fieryfly (She's actually pretty nice). Known for her position as vice-captain, she has yet to make a big name for herself. Takako Chinen is well-known in her own division, but also well-known in the Fourth as she often visits to help others out and herself at Kaido. -
Working close with the Twelfth Division, the Ninth Division prevents information from leaking elsewhere and being stolen by outside influences. Aside from this, they are responsible for counter-tactics if the Seireitei were to ever be attacked. -
This Division is in charge of large-scale operations; Planning, coordination, and then execution. This Division has the ability to take any required [Number of] Shinigami from any Squad if it further helps the operation. They keep high maintenance over all their missions.
The Captain of this division is Hikari Shinrai, an NPC played by @Deuce. Often described as a handsome man, Hikari has messy brown hair that falls to his neck and eyes that resemble the color of his hair. His most notable, arguably most definable, feature is the childhood scar running down his left eye originating from a hollow attack. He is claimed to be the nicest and calmest of the Captains, and has even made a name for himself due to defeating most enemies with just his sealed Zanpakuto and tactics alone.
The vice-captain of this division is Haruka Katsuye, played by the spunky @Aeronfarron. She is well-known for her skill in Hakuda and Kido, as well as being the wife of her captain Hikari Shinrai. Not that she’ll let the latter define her though, and won’t hesitate to knock one out if they dare think that’s all she amounts to. She is also well-known for the harsh, yet necessary, punishments she deals to slacking Division Ten members. -
Due to the over-glorified idea of power most have when attending then graduating the Shin'o Academy, the Eleventh Division has the largest number of Shinigami. Though lacking in tactics, this is permitted due to them being the frontlines when it comes to attacks within the Seireitei. As well, they can be flooded in mass numbers to subdue problems quickly. It isn’t uncommon to see them looked at in disgust for their barbaric nature. -
The Twelfth Division is the only division, aside from Division Four, that doesn’t involve itself with combat. Their duties include developing technology to help Shinigami in their missions, as well as research information given to them by the Third Division. The Twelfth Division has direct control over The Shinigami Research and Development Institute whose main function is to research and develop new technology and spiritual tools. Their second function is overseeing communications and monitoring the world of the living to ensure spiritual stability. If anything of weird is noticed, it is reported to the Thirteenth Division. -
This Division functions the same as the Tenth, but instead they operate in the world of the living. They’re also in charge of sending out patrols daily, both within the Seireitei and the human world. They’ll sometimes assign Shinigami to the human world for certain periods of time so that they can deal with continuous hollows. Shinigami that have escaped to the human world will be for the Sixth Division to handle most of the time.
