-- Beginning Log --

"Alright; Let's take this from the top, kiddos.

The current year on Earth is 4782 A.D. Mankind has long since ventured into the stars, and with their exploration came the greatest discovery in their recorded history; Life. Other sentient creatures who, many years before them, had taken the steps towards galactic expansion and colonization. Even more impressive; they had established their own intergalactic government system: "The Galactic Alliance", a peaceful democratic system in which every

After proving themselves to their alien comrades, Humanity was inducted into the Alliance and has since been on an incredible trajectory. Prospering Colonies on over a thousand worlds, a thriving economy between both Man and Extraterrestrials, and best yet; the grandest, most stunning fleet in all the galaxy. Though our military divisions work everyday to uphold the peace and security we have achieved, they also serve another purpose; to keep pushing forward.

That is the duty of "the Horizon Project"; to explore the vast reaches of space still uncharted, discovering new life and new civilizations, and to spread the kind hand of the Alliance wherever we can. For this task, the Alliance outfitted our ships with the latest in FTL technologies, advanced A.I. systems, and of course, all of the luxuries one could ask while they're speeding through the stars at over a billion miles a second. Although these ships, which we've decided to call "Infinities" given their incredible capabilities, are primarily operated by the military and Naval divisions of the Alliance, there are many non-military types on board. Civilians looking for a tour of the stars, scientists wanting to grab hold of the latest discovery, artists hoping to find their 'spark', top chefs, musicians, soldiers, technicians; and even that barely covers everyone.

Each ship heads out for a five-year mission, only stopping for fuel, supplies, and whatever essentials may be required. Passengers, and some crew, are permitted to disembark at any point; though I wouldn't exactly recommend it. Some worlds seem like the sweetest place this side of Balstu; but then you wind up getting jumped by a Gnfar Beast, torn to shreds in its digestive system, and subsequently pieced back together just as alive as you were when it forced you down it's gullet... I'm speaking from personal experience; nasty little things. I'll never port in Gddo again, that's for sure.

Anyways, if you're hearing this then welcome! You've been chosen to be a part of our latest and greatest expedition yet. Our top-of-the-line star-cruiser, "The Polaris" (I call her "Polly"), is the most magnificent piece of tech the Alliance has ever produced. I feel honored to be her first captain; and I'm sure you're just as eager to get going. She'll depart from Terra-Nova (that's "Earth" for any of our Extraterrestrial crew) at the Capitol Alliance Shipyard on Stardate 283-534; or two-weeks after this audio log is released. Just remember to bring your badge to the dock and one of our droids will escort you there.

Brightest Skies, and farewell for now. This is Captain Iuslas Del-gusnKah (you can call me "Captain Del") signing off."

Hey everyone! So this is just a little something I came up with today and I hope it caught your eye!

The basic premise of this RP is that we're a group of passengers/crew members on-board a star-ship sent off by the highest galactic government to explore the depths of space. Given the nature of this plot, it'll be somewhat of a Freeform RP driven primarily by character interactions, relationships, disputes, etc., with the occasional "Star Trek-esque" adventure thrown in every now and again that our characters have to overcome.

So to start we'll be accepting about 4 additional people (myself included will make a total of 5 active players), but if this gets enough interest and I can scrounge up a Co-GM, we may be able to take on more. I'm starting off small right now, but we can play up to three (yes, three) active characters. I figure it makes sense to have a cast of diverse characters from a number of backgrounds, species, etc., given the setting. But keep in mind that a ship cannot operate without a crew, so I'll be putting a limit of ONE civilian character per person (at least for now). Also; if you want to be an alien/robot, feel free to make up your own species since I really haven't planned any out for this. This originally started as a Mass Effect plot; so steal from those guys if you want, haha.

But in all seriousness, I'm hoping to get this off the ground fairly soon. Plus I spent 4+ hours making those .gifs, so I'm hoping it payed off xD. If you're interested, post below with a character reservation, including whether or not they're a crew member or a civilian (and what role they would have) and we'll take it from there if we get enough people on-board.

As for myself, I'll be taking the role of a Security Officer (Lieutenant), and will NPC the Captain for the time being.

Count me interested. If you're fine with it mr_pibbs I humbly request a character reservation as a soldier/space marine.

*tentative hand raise*

Lol probably just cause I've watched the Picard trailer too many times, but I'm in the need for a Trek-like fix.

Wouldn't be opposed to any needed role, but I'm happy to take the mantle of Communications officer or Navigator, either.

Just curious about how sandbox/slice this will be. Is there gonna be an overarching plot or just like... Floatin in space and we'll see what happens?

Oh this seems interesting! Can I play a part? I think I can start with a robot or AI with a holographic moving form thingy.

Hey, glad to have you!

There'll be a bit of an overarching plot that rears it's head every now and again (if we're comparing it to Star Trek: it'll be like knowing the Borg is still in the galaxy, but they won't be directly fighting against it all the time). But for the most part it'll be freeform, with smaller issues leading the way for a longer narrative with the overarching plot.

Yeah that'd be fine. If @Elle Joyner decides to join 100%, you'll be the last person we accept for the time being (even if they don't you'll still be the last as now we'd have 5-6 people).

Alrighty - Sounds good to me XD I'm just not a fan of aimless/plotless sandboxy RPs, but so long as there's purpose, I'm down :)

For sure; it's more like that Lord of the Rings Prequel group plot we were in a while ago; there's a 'grand plan', but it's achieved gradually overtime and allows for characters to do their own thing for a while.

I do have to ask pibbs. Considering the setting for this RP is like more than two thousand years into the future and in space how we come up with names for human characters?

I have an idea for a navigator but im not suoer wedded to it and thats about as far as i am.

I just used a random name generator. Really humans haven't changed too much in terms of names (or evolution beyond self-augmentation), so you could have them be more exotic and alien-esque, or more contemporary.

Sounds good, got a bit of work to do on the OoC anyways so you've got time to decide.

If Applo wants Navigator, I'm happy to take Comms Officer, btw.

Apologies but I'm withdrawing from the idea. Hope it works out for you folks.
