Personality:
Mastema prefers to keep to himself and stay in solitude rather than be with the company of others. This is because he is very mistrustful of other people. He can be very sarcastic at times and tends to let his temper get the best of him, which gets him into a lot of sticky situations.
History:
When Mastema was born, his mother tried to hide the fact that he was Cursed so that he would be allowed to live with her in the Divine tribe, hiding the truth about his heritage from everyone, including Mastema. This plan worked throughout most of Mastema's childhood since his general appearance favored that of the Divine. In fact, his charisma and charm made him one of the most beloved children in the tribe. However, once he became of age and puberty struck, a terrible accident occurred. Apparently, Mastema had inherited the power of Dark Form from his father, which lay dormant until one day when he was playing with his best friend, Aelfy, and became angry when he suspected her of cheating. His rage caused him to change into a winged demon wolf and rip Aelfy to shreds with his sharp claws before attacking the rest of the tribe. The only one who was able to stop him and get him to change back was his mother, who had no choice then but to come clean about his true lineage. The members of the Divine who had once held Mastema in high esteem then made a unanimous decision to banish him to the Caligo Realm, where he has lived ever since. After he was banished, he learned of his other powers on his own and found out that not only did he have dark powers from his father, he could manipulate light as he'd seen the Divine elders do many times during his childhood.
Mastema blames his mother for hiding the truth from him for all those years. Maybe if she had told him that his father was an Umbra, Aelfy would still be alive. He carries that guilt with him still. The betrayal of the Divine is the reason for his hatred of them and also the reason he prefers solitude to the company of others. He learned that day that there is no one he can trust, not even himself. He prefers to be alone not only for his own safety, but the safety of others as well. He has not tried to reach out to the Umbras for fear of being outcast by them as well. He would rather have self-proclaimed isolation than have no choice in the matter. And now that he knows who his father was, Mastema's one mission in life is to find him. He does not yet know what his plans are if he ever does find his father, but he figures he can think about that when the time comes.
